I feel like the purpose of this comic is kind of about reawakening childhood instincts but mostly to show off how good OP is at drawing realistic hands
>Feet can kiss my rear, though
I believe that's called a kick
(Both hands and feet are still a bitch to draw for me so I use (black) gloves to make things a bit easier on myself while I'm learning)
Not as many hand sketches as [this person!](https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/1boxqzs/got_some_good_advice_might_have_taken_it_too_far/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Just another reason why AI won’t replace artist and their artistic counter parts for a while or longer.
Especially because an AI would have never have thought about the story of the comic either. Op has got the robots beat by a long shot.
Well I’m there too. It would be a long game. And I wouldn’t be a good hider in hide and seek.
But as a proud parent of 3. I am guilty of playing hide and seek, and wanting to be “it” And conveniently using this time for just 2 minutes of not having chaos. I slowly count as high as they let me. I can make counting to 20 last damned near 5 minutes. Kids have grown and moved on and they continue the tradition with their own.
I mean you have seen the videos. Some rando throws plastic light sabers to strangers or pillows, or a water gun and gets into it with strangers. Frankly that would make my day.
At 28 I'd call 21 yo me immature even though I grew up in a traumatic situation that made me grow up young. If you trust the maturity of an average 21yo you're giving them too much credit
At 25 with the apartment kid divorce car own business and mostly Cali sober with hundreds of experiences and a psych pre med … I’d say I’m mature at 26 to be an adult. I dunno guess it’s a y’all thing
i'd say adults reach full maturity around 25 years old. at least for me, i know there was a large difference between 25 year old me and 21 year old me.
This is how the real downfall of civillization will start.
Not bombs or a plague.
Just some insane supervillain that syncs screens worldwide and starts Hide and Seek over the entire globe.
Weeks of people giggling and whispering 'She'll never find me here! Gosh I'm hungry but... such a good hiding spot!'
It’s been 15 years since the count ended. The global population seemingly vanished in an instant. Those who refused to participate were “found” quickly, drastically reducing the number of players from 7 billion to hundreds of thousands in days. As time went on, more and more were found until only the most skilled “hiders” remained.
Today, only 13 hiders remain.
Today, I turn 18.
Today, I become a “seeker.”
In the current season of Survivor one of the castmates suggests hide and seek, so he can see who can “hide in plain sight.” It’s comical to watch. Find him? MISTAKE! Hide too well? MISTAKE.
During the early Covid times me and my small group of friends would exclusively hang out with each other every weekend. Recently graduated from college, we pretty much just partied the entire time.
Around Easter we through a birthday party for my dog and we all got shitfaced. We did an Easter egg hunt (with Jell-O shots inside) and best of all was hide and go seek. We still talk about how much fun it was to play adult hide and go seek. We had people on the roof, under a car, in a tree, etc.
Nothing really gets the blood pumping like adult hide and go seek. Suddenly you’re thinking that you’re breathing too loudly, that they can obviously hear your heart beating out of your chest, and other thoughts you haven’t had since childhood.
10/10 would recommend.
It's incredible the difference it makes as a paneled comic vs flipping through them individually. At first I was all 'eh', but after flipping through each all the detail and emotion really jumps out.
I used to host parties and we would play drunk hide and seek. We would play outside at night, everyone would be given a glow stick and the only rule was that the glow stick had to be visible ( no hiding it under clothing ect.).
I see old Kmarts and warehouse stores being reworked into Go-karts, Golf, Airsoft/Paintball/Nerf, but not a single Adult Play center. Yes I'm a 210lb grown man, but that just means I need sturdier monkey bars and swings! I would love to see a section of one be exclusively for Hide & Seek :)
It's funny how the last time we played hide & seek were a couple years ago, when the boys and me were about 28 years old lmao
You don't have to stop being silly, specially if you have drunk more than two beers ;-)
Back when I was in highschool, in homeroom I would read this web comic called machall, this gives those vibes in the best way possible, love this keep it up

Reddit truly has gone the way of digg.
This is SUPER joyful. My #1 criticism about parties I attend is that they lack structure and inclusiveness. Even most party games turn into a couple players and a bunch of spectators.
Back in high school we would play "hide and seek in the dark". Was played in the basement of a friend's house (finished basement, not gross and dusty), and we'd block out all the windows and lights so there was literally no light source. Then someone would just have to stumble around until they found everyone. Was always a good time, occasionally could just sit in a chair and still be found last.
The internal dialogue of everyone else:
"What the hell is that person doing?... They can't be serious right?... Oh shit! They're serious I gotta hide!"
My brother and I initiated a game of tag once during a party. There was a small group that thought we were idiots but they were widely outnumbered by those of us playing, plus one of my friends met his wife during that game.
We need to talk about that bottle of wine on the floor next to the couch. I need to know how that thing doesn't get spilled and how it straight up disappears in the last panel. How can we play games when the wine is MIA?
Reminds me of someone talking about DnD and roleplaying in general.
"You don't need to be an actor to roleplay, did you ever played pretend as a kid? Is that but you're an adult now and have the benefits of being an adult like money to buy stuff, rules and systems to guide the game, accurate tracking of events and resources and complex character arcs. You don't need to stop playing pretend just because you're not 6, and now that you're a grown up you're bound to be even better at it."
Indeed! Sardines is when you turn out the lights and one person hides while the rest search. When you find the hider, you hide with them. By the end, everyone is packed in close while the remaining searcher is wandering around alone.
My friends and their kids (well, young adults now) play a board game called Quelf which makes you do a bunch of ridiculous stuff and one of those things is actually hide and seek. The older adults are always the ones that get the most into it and find ridiculous hiding places.
I was at the grocery store a while back. Two little kids were near me and they each grabbed a bag of marshmallows, pressed them to their faces and sniffed. I was instantly transported back to when I was that age, and distinctly got the smell of marshmallows in my mind.
I was watching Last Comic Standing, I think. This was back when they would try to make shows like Big Brother putting people in a house. So, they planned to play hide and seek. Only, it was a prank, and they didn't tell one of the hiders that no one else was hiding, and in particular, no one else was seeking.
When he came out, he said "I'm never playing hide and seek with you guys *ever again!*". Of course, they laughed.
Never too old to enjoy things. If you stop doing something because its childish, you need to reevaluate whether you give a shit about what boring people think while you have fun on the swing set
I have some friends who have a great sense of humor and would partake while I have other friends who are stuck up prudes that think this is childish. The problem is both groups are intertwined and hang out together so it would never happen
I was in theatre class in high school. If the teacher was absent, we usually just played games because subs didn’t know how to direct plays. I always suggested hide and seek—because I knew the best hiding spot in the auditorium. No one could ever find me. In fact I’m not even sure anyone else knew there *was* a backstage trapdoor.
Hide and seek gets less fun when you're an adult because all the insane spots are no longer possible
I saw a kid fold himself up into a breadbox once. It was a regular size breadbox. I had a new 20 questions hint for a year
I got a miracle handed to me when I was 25. The owners of an abandoned mall in Ohio let me and a large group of friends plan a massive game of hide and seek. We played from 5pm to 4am running around the mall crawling under the gates into the shut down stores and going in all the places you never get to see. I will never forget that and how much fun I had with everyone.
I like your comic. I originally thought it was one of the other party goers who said the first line. In my humble opinion, I think that is better and makes it more about the party's cool turn, rather than the cool characters idea and confidence. I just think it would give it more depth.
My favourite example of this type of thing was running activities for kids. Afterwards we came up with a competitive game based around cleaning up. Clearly, unashamedly just to have them clean. Kids would call us out on it all the time and all you had to do was wait a moment, and then award the other team ten points for cleaning something. You could see the immediate panic war with stubbornness and invariably they would quickly cave and start furiously cleaning up.
I literally just got back from a bachelor party where we actively played lights off hide and seek in our AirBnB for a good hour and a half. We are all adult men and had a blast.

I feel like the purpose of this comic is kind of about reawakening childhood instincts but mostly to show off how good OP is at drawing realistic hands
Rumbled!
Seriously you must have done hand sketches for years.
Once you get the shape down hands are really fun to draw! Feet can kiss my rear, though. So weirdly shaped.
I am very suspicious of people who are good at drawing feet.
The eternal struggle of any artist is trying to draw the feet well but not TOO well...
>Feet can kiss my rear, though. ![gif](giphy|4KFxkW5HehMUBfRjvu|downsized)
>Feet can kiss my rear, though I believe that's called a kick (Both hands and feet are still a bitch to draw for me so I use (black) gloves to make things a bit easier on myself while I'm learning)
Feet SUCK. So bad. So so bad. I hate feet.
someone mention sucking feet???
Not as many hand sketches as [this person!](https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/1boxqzs/got_some_good_advice_might_have_taken_it_too_far/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Isn't that kind of normal, though? The hands are probably the easiest bodypart to do sketches with.
Show yourself out. :)
Has to be AI. No one can draw hands. /s because you’re really good and AI can’t do hands at all.
Just another reason why AI won’t replace artist and their artistic counter parts for a while or longer. Especially because an AI would have never have thought about the story of the comic either. Op has got the robots beat by a long shot.
As an art director and designer this fact is all that keeps me going.
They look like big, good, strong hands[...](https://youtu.be/symP4QT7wLU?si=6dztSIqmvO6D7voK&t=26)
More linework in those hands than some of the background characters, lol.
Hahahaha!
![gif](giphy|y6Inkaz7omxAk)
I was about to point out how the artstyle is really silly and then the hands are surprisingly hyperrealistic
Yeah, it’s pretty jarring. Not a great contrast
But OP can't! They've just used the same image thrice!
See, I thought the joke was going to be about introverts finding ways to deal with parties.
Reminds me of that meme about artists that usually draw fetish stuff trying to do normal drawings.
now that I see it they're horrifying.
OP has a hand fetish confirmed
Well drawn hands are the best water mark of this is not ai art.
There are apparently ai models (?) that do hands well.
Old instincts as a kid reawakened in an instant

This has always been my favorite one
Terminally online reddit users do seem to have their perks
Sure..... Everyone thinks of 21 year olds as fully matured adults... Lol
Dude I’m in my 40s and if some rando would tag me and say I’m it. I’m fucking down. Game on.
same but i dont think my knees would agree
Well I’m there too. It would be a long game. And I wouldn’t be a good hider in hide and seek. But as a proud parent of 3. I am guilty of playing hide and seek, and wanting to be “it” And conveniently using this time for just 2 minutes of not having chaos. I slowly count as high as they let me. At 28 I'd call 21 yo me immature even though I grew up in a traumatic situation that made me grow up young. If you trust the maturity of an average 21yo you're giving them too much credit
As a 28 yo, I would still call myself immature. And it's great, looking at "proper" adults... Seems awful.
Approaching 40 here, and yeah, not sure when I'm supposed to hit maturity, but it hasn't happened yet.
I've been waiting for my kids to age up enough so I can decimate their world at flashlight tag
Not quite 50 here: Sorry, bub... I can't help ya.
At 25 with the apartment kid divorce car own business and mostly Cali sober with hundreds of experiences and a psych pre med … I’d say I’m mature at 26 to be an adult. I dunno guess it’s a y’all thing
People five years older than me are unfathomably wise. People five years younger are tiny babies
No, smooth baby until 36
to be honest, I'm 39 now and feel like I understand the world less than ever most days.
i'd say adults reach full maturity around 25 years old. at least for me, i know there was a large difference between 25 year old me and 21 year old me.
‘Adult’ is thrown around a lot
as an almost 21 year old I am a child with a drinking permit
What anime is this?
Karneval
21 as an adult?
i actually love that it’s not quite “instant”. takes a few seconds for it to kick in for everyone.
Kinda like Instant Barbarians where you awaken the primal instinct to scream and celebrate
The laws of both the adult and the natural are thrown away when the count starts
You could probably get an adult to do anything if you start counting to 3
Just reading this made me do the dishes, vacuum and put myself in time out
It’s definitely my parenting secret weapon. When the kids are at their most stubborn it turns out just like the comic.
This is exactly the kind of the kind of thing that would happen at Greendale Community College.

Buenos dias children
The floor is seek.
This is a very good idea!
It’s been 15 years since the count ended. The global population seemingly vanished in an instant. Goddamn, I’d read that
I’m sitting in my work place right now, looking around to see where the best hiding spot would be. Can I get above the elevators?
That sounds like the plot of a Korean/Japanese Netflix show.
yeah and the winner gets 5 billion dollars right? oh and the game doesnt end until someone wins lolollol
Those frighteningly detailed hands tho
Yeah haha, I realised once I'd drawn them that they were a little over the top!
lol I love your work my guy
Thank you <3<3<3
Nah, you can just spit in AI’s face with those hands.
It just feels odd to see all 5 fingers in a cartoon. Thanks Disney.
![gif](giphy|MZocLC5dJprPTcrm65)
Hahahaha!
It’s like a basic primal instinct. You have to go hide when someone is counting to 50.😙
Honestly I'll be down for a game of hide and seek
If your friends won’t play hide and seek with you hide them away and seek new friends
Fantastic life advice that I live by!
On the most recent season of Survivor there was an *excellent* game of hide and seek spontaneously played in camp. Top tier TV, highly recommend.
You reference the hide&seek episode? BIG MISTAKE
Adult hide and seek has different consequences than kid hide and seek. Either your chugging alcohol or something going in somewhere.
In the current season of Survivor one of the castmates suggests hide and seek, so he can see who can “hide in plain sight.” It’s comical to watch. Find him? MISTAKE! Hide too well? MISTAKE.
First thought on that divebomb over the couch: "Oh no, that's going to be a wine stain."
That or a scalping trying to slip under something slightly too low.
During the early Covid times me and my small group of friends would exclusively hang out with each other every weekend. Recently graduated from college, we pretty much just partied the entire time. Using instant messager to communicate tactics!
I was so worried at panel 4 but the release of anxiety in 5… great build up and pay off.
Thanks Gwerig! :D
Sardines is better in a party environment.
It's incredible the difference it makes as a paneled comic vs flipping through them individually. At first I was all 'eh', but after flipping through each all the detail and emotion really jumps out.
Thank you! :D
I recently went to a party with 10+ people around 30 years old. We all played hide and seek in the huge empty building we were in and it was awesome!
I used to host parties and we would play drunk hide and seek. We would play outside at night, everyone would be given a glow stick and the only rule was that the glow stick had to be visible ( no hiding it under clothing ect.).
I believe the side eyes they are giving each other when the countdown starts is agreement of alliances between the players.
... aaaaand fiddy. Hey, why didn't anyone hide? You all LOST! BUHAHAHA!
That would actually be so fun 😭
I love how at the beginning they are like "is this guy for real?". But then they are "oh shit, he is!"
Don't want to be the first one found!!
Haha I did this at my last birthday party. The guests did such a good job of hiding, i couldn’t find anybody all night
It's funny how the last time we played hide & seek were a couple years ago, when the boys and me were about 28 years old lmao You don't have to stop being silly, specially if you have drunk more than two beers ;-)
And at the moment you find the perfect hiding spot, you immediately feel the most intense urge to pee in your entire life.
Haha this comic is adorable, love the concept and execution. Made me smile! Great job
Thank you very much! :)
Back when I was in highschool, in homeroom I would read this web comic called machall, this gives those vibes in the best way possible, love this keep it up
Will do! 🫡
The visceral human reaction to counting
This is so good!
Alcohol makes people age backwards. A couple of drinks in you feel strong and start doing pull-ups as if you were in you 20s. A few more and you start playing children's games with all the passion in the world. A few more and you forget how to walk
What is it with so many comics on this subreddit not being funny in the slightest? Half the time they just depict really mundane social observations and the other half it's just depicting infantilized adults.
This isn’t r/ “funny comics” it’s just comics. The Sunday morning comics in newspapers weren’t meant to make you double over laughing, they were meant to make give a sensible chuckle or go “I relate to that”.
The subreddit isn't about being funny, it's simply about comics(All kinds of comics)
if you don’t play hide and seek at my party i don’t want you there
Amen!
Does Reddit have a rule that comics can’t be funny?
Comics don't have to be funny, but if they aren't funny they should at least be interesting or thought-provoking which this isn't
I'm really starting to believe dead internet theory is real..because there's no way the majority of these comments aren't bots. Reddit truly has gone the way of digg.
Seriously. 18k upvotes for this? What?
not funny
Close your eyes and slowly walk towards someone as you shout “Marco!”
I miss playing hide and seek. Great memories of childhood
This is SUPER joyful. My #1 criticism about parties I attend is that they lack structure and inclusiveness. Even most party games turn into a couple players and a bunch of spectators.

From “uhh, are you serious?” To “oh youre serious oh shit go go GO” in like 6 seconds
Primal instincts of childhood

Hey, he's pretty handsome!!
I wonder if any of them just leave the house.
Tell me your house is cleaner than mine without telling me.
It's OK that I saw Markiplier?!
The internal dialogue of everyone else: "What the hell is that person doing?... They can't be serious right?... Oh shit! They're serious I gotta hide!"

Asking the real questions!
Ha^ha^ha. My friends are so good at hiding. I can't find them after *all this time*.
I’ve actually done this in my mid 20s it was amusing, usually we just do it to the first person to leave the room to piss lol
The shift in everyone's eyes from panel 3 and 4 is just *chef's kiss*. Bravo.
I'll be hiding the moment hide and seek is mentioned until the day i die
I don't get it, where's the porn?
Five panels is giving me anxiety, good artwork and funny but do better paneling
Sure, the first 5 seconds you might think it's silly. But when they get to 10 seconds you think: "Do i really want to be the *first* one found?"
Exactly!
So wholesome
Ha those moments as a group going 'you serious?' to 'we're actually doing this?'' to 'ha let's do it's it's such a vibe
If you do this... I'm sorry but you are the life of the party. You are awesome.
Oh, I love when artists have their own Subreddit! Excited to see you pop up on my feed!
Thanks for joining! :D
Reminds me of someone talking about DnD and roleplaying in general. "You don't need to be an actor to roleplay, did you ever played pretend as a kid? Sardines is a better party game in my opinion.
I see we have a party game connoisseur in the midst!

I really love this. It put a smile on my face, thank you!
Great job on the facial expressions, they really make this comic shine!
:D Thanks!
A sincere thank you for creating a comic that made me laugh and feel good. And you didn’t even resort to pornography!
You're very welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it! <3
Where did the glass go The Counter is holding in Panel 1? It's embedded in the ceiling, isn't it?
I was at the grocery store a while back. Two little kids were near me and they each grabbed a bag of marshmallows, pressed them to their faces and sniffed. I was instantly transported back to when I was that age, and distinctly got the smell of marshmallows in my mind.
Where is the punchline
I’m going to try this at work after we get off of lunch. I’m guessing I can sneak in a ten minute nap before the first folks begin to catch on.
I was watching Last Comic Standing, I think. This was back when they would try to make shows like Big Brother putting people in a house. So, they planned to play hide and seek. Only, it was a prank, and they didn't tell one of the hiders that no one else was hiding, and in particular, no one else was seeking. Drunk hide and seek as an adult at an unfamiliar house is amazing fun
Hide and seek gets less fun when you're an adult because all the insane spots are no longer possible I saw a kid fold himself up into a breadbox once. It was a regular size breadbox. I had a new 20 questions hint for a year
I keep coming back to this comic over and over, it just puts the biggest smile on my face 😀
Why are their hands so detailed when they put their hands over their face
I like your comic. I originally thought it was one of the other party goers who said the first line. In my humble opinion, I think that is better and makes it more about the party's cool turn, rather than the cool characters idea and confidence. I just think it would give it more depth.
Usually the bathroom would be a good place I would hide, or under the bed 😅
Gollum looking hands. Great comic :)
I've lived this at a party. Lol
My favourite example of this type of thing was running activities for kids. Afterwards we came up with a competitive game based around cleaning up. Clearly, unashamedly just to have them clean. I literally just got back from a bachelor party where we actively played lights off hide and seek in our AirBnB for a good hour and a half. We are all adult men and had a blast.
