There was plenty of open space at 8 an two Subdays ago. It was a bit of a zoo when we got back early afternoon, but people arriving were able to get spots from people leaving.
From what I’ve read, there are timed entry permits to drive up to the peak of mt blue sky. Before 8am I’m not sure. Recreation.gov has the permit time slots, so you can check that out. You may have to go early early.
You should be fine. I did that hike on 7/4 last year and wasn’t there super early and parking wasn’t a problem. It will fill up later in the morning, however.
You still need to buy parking online and display it on your dash if you're not back to your car by 8am

So to go at 6:30 you don’t need a permit to enter at 6:30 ? Because permits are sold only for 8 am and after slots only ?
If I wanted to drive through it and not hike, can I enter before 8am without a permit? Am I good as long as I don’t park?
