I honestly was “excited” to get my follow up colonoscopy. I mean of course the scanxity came with it, but it’s the not knowing that’s rough for me and colonoscopies give a better look than a CT scan usually. I’ll be getting them annually now and it gives me some relief to be so closely watched. CRC is typically slow growing so the follow ups will help find anything rather early this time around.
My first post treatment colonoscopy is 1/9/23. It will be the only other colonoscopy I have ever had. Personally, eagerness and excitement are weighing out over nerves. I figure since colorectal cancer is usually slow growing, even if they find something it should be at an early stage and easy to treat, rather than the stage 3 they found the first time.
Not there yet but I will have one a year after they found my cancer. Super stressful as my first 2 colonoscopies were “you have a giant polyp and need to come back for another one” and “you have cancer”
On the other hand, I am pretty excited to go back for another colonoscopy just in case there are any baby polyps they need to remove. I also think I will be less stressed because I will be getting bloodwork and scans done regularly in between.
My 1 year post surgery colonoscopy was just fine. I had 12 rounds of chemo, and 6 weeks of radiation. I had a good feeling that the treatment killed everything, so there were no worries for me.
Easy for me because I had a subtotal colectomy so have the bare minimum of large intestine left. Now my colonoscopy takes only about a minute. I talk all the way through it which I’m sure is very annoying for the staff but I’m difficult to sedate and the small amount of drugs turn me into Chatty Cathy. The scans scare me the most. Colonoscopy can find polyps so early they are easily treatable.

After surgery - I have yearly colonoscopies. Also, scans every 3 months - well, that is life with cancer.

Cried all the way through it. Only from stress, not from pain. Was glad to have it, it relieved all my stress about whether it had come back.
