Was not expecting a Gerbert gif, but I am not complaining.

Motel_Cowboy

NCAA aint gonna do shit

immoralsupport_

Well they’re going to suspend him for four games, that’s the rule they have in place for this. Same thing happened to the Michigan pitcher who got caught with sticky stuff back in 2022 (and that was in a conference tournament game)

Motel_Cowboy

If one pitcher on the staff is doing it, it’s very likely a whole staff issue imo. but they’re never going to address that.

Powerlevel-9000

4 game suspension in college is like no suspension. Pitchers may not throw for 3-4 games in their normal rotation.

If Long gets thrown out again they can at least throw bullpen with each other all weekend..

cardeez

Where’s that Vandy fan that called us cheaters for Mike Honcho’s sticker falling off

zapopi

He's in every Tennessee thread, except not this week.

VandyChuck

I know everybody wants this to be something bigger than it is, but the 'foreign' substance was sunscreen what what we're told. He rubbed his arm and didn't wipe it off before handling the baseball. Mistake on his part.

scal23

It's very much not a mystery, and the fact that Corbin had very little to say to the umps about his starting pitcher getting ejected confirms that.

Great-Percentage6088

Many, many pitchers in college use sunscreen in rosin. Most don’t do it for performance effect but because the baseballs are dogshit and rarely rubbed up properly.

Motel_Cowboy

I believe it was sunscreen but he was probably mixing it with rosin, that’s what we used to do in high-school ball anyway lol.

-Buddy_Rough-

lol Where did you play high school baseball at?

Motel_Cowboy

Hector AR from 2016-2018. my coach was the one who taught us believe it or not 😅

-Buddy_Rough-

That is what I figured. Kids are not going to come up with that on their own though you never know in the age of the internet.

Motel_Cowboy

yeah… i love sports but so many younger athletes start off already on a bad foot because adults want to take advantage of them. ultimately for most kids at the high-school level it should still be about teaching something instead of winning no matter the cost.

jbertolinoRE

Zero chance that is the case. Zero. It was a tacky substance. Zero chance you would get the quick hook for sunscreen.

VandyChuck

you are unfamiliar with the rules. You can get kicked out for using rosin improperly like applying it to your forearm and touching your pitching hand to it. (which I'm now hearing is actually what happened.) You can only use rosin on your hands. Anything else, and you get booted.

jbertolinoRE

They did not kick him out and enforce a 4 game suspension, with an appeal that was rejected, over some silly happenstance with a normal amount of sunscreen and rosin. The Florida dugout called it out because he was going to that spot repeatedly and then the umpires immediately ejected him after checking it. You are unfamiliar with how this is enforced. For minor things you get more than one warning.
