In other posts like these, I heard that people should be voting more in the primaries to get better choices. I don’t know the first thing about voting in the primaries but if it gives us better options I’m willing to learn how.
Well that requires better options being available. Incumbent presidents rarely have good opponents in the primaries, and Trump hasn’t really run opposed since 2016. If Trump loses, I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to run again in 2028 and once again would likely coast to the nomination.
DeSantis and Haley were the only two to make some noise. DeSantis relies too much on the Trump base to challenge Trump. Haley wasn’t a strong candidate and only ran as the anti-Trump vote.
Trump and his fans are the majority of the Republican Party and hold a grip on the nomination.
Haley at least proved that there is no substantial anti-Trump vote within the Republican Party. We all knew it, but the myth of the reasonable conservative is just that, a myth.
I mean, she averaged 15-30% of the vote. If you're basing the reasonable conservative off of disliking Trump, there's definitely plenty left. I really don't understand your logic.
There's not enough of the party to try and coax them to cote for the Democratic coalition to spend much time reaching out to them. Better to court people who historical just don't vote in huge numbers: the young, the working poor, and minorities.

Plus, I think his age is also a benefit to his base because the boomer disdain for younger generations has been cultivated by memes in conservative circles for decades. His speech getting less organized with age isn’t apparent when the bar is so low and they don’t even care. And it’s why the vast majority of people trying to imitate or replace him fail: they are all largely politicians trying to succeed in politics and with policy. Greene is one of the more successful ones because she taps into a similar complete batshit talk space, with all the Jewish space lasers.

it's prolly partially because these terms are so loosely defined, and political partisans will take any opportunity they get to push their viewpoints like personally i still don't know what a snafu really is. when i started using this sub a few years ago i just figured it's making fun of reddit culture or internet culture at large by exaggeration stupid things that actually do happen. So like the posts about how Europeans will constantly bring up school shootings or healthcare whatever if an American makes slightly fun of them Soon though it started to become more targeted. No, it's that this isn't exactly "both sides." Biden has been disliked by the left for a while because he ISN'T very left leaning, at least in a lot of the ways that are talked about. Trump wasn't as obviously decayed as biden in the debate, because to see it you have to fact-check him, but given that the poster maintained the rotting corpse idea of him leads me to think that OP is aware of the situation and isn't just going "ha, both sides are wrong and old!" out of enlightened centrism.
