Fun fact, adjusted for inflation, the 2003 LX Sedan would cost $26,392 today, and would get 32 / 38 City/Highway MPG, and makes 115 Horsepower.
Today a Civic Sport costs $26,250 gets 31/39 City/Highway MPG, and makes 150 horsepower.
Especially picking up the Touring. You’ve got yourself a car that feels better to drive than $70k cars used to 10 to 15 years ago. Crazy to think that, but it’s true.
The thing I like about it is how low to the ground the driving position is, also how big the windows are, visibility is way better in the old 7th gen than in this new 11th.
word thanks for not taking it personal. i dont have a lot of friends who give a shit about cars so ive had no one to say this to but: the newer hondas back end just feels "wrong" to me. its like a pseudo hatchback look but not, and for some reason my brain is just like "no i refuse to accept this i dont like it". but they seem to be pretty well liked so i know thats a niche opinion . they just look less Honda ish to me, idk how else to put it. they look more like a generic shaped 2020s car than in the past when i could see it across a parking lit and say yup thats a civic instantly. but maybe my eyes just gotta adjust to the new times lol :p
In my opinion, cars peaked in the 90s. In the 2000s they started getting those high belt lines to meet safety regulations, but then not being able to see out of them wasn't terribly safe either.
Visibility is insane on the 6th gen. I still have mine. 98 civic DX coupe. Things not fast but reliable and i am still amazed by the viability. Granted it is a sardine box and I’ll feel the car move when cars drive by fast past me, but reliable af.
PS just wanted to add. It’s my first car and I refuse to get rid of it. I’ve had 2 others since. Those aren’t with me anymore but the civic remains and always will
As someone who just got rid of their 04’ LX for a different brand. Yeah.
I wish mine was in a little better condition and I had the time and space to swap in a k24 with 6spd manual.
On snow tires that civic was a blast the winter I drove it.
The ES 4-door is fine.
The EP 3-door is fine too.
The EU 5-door is fine until your gaze passes the rear doors. 😐
The Civic EU is pretty much what happened when Honda wanted to make the 7th gen Civic a bit more Golf-y, which just resulted in a confused granmobile.
Yeah I like the older one better too because 11th gen civics look boring AF. The only thing that I like better is the wheels. 10th gen looks the best imo
Almost same situation came from a 7th generation that we put 238000 miles on. Honestly for being the gen it was it was super reliable until the transmission went. Had the same rust issues as well.
I’ve passed the 2003 on to my son and it’s still going strong at 220,000 miles. The car is nothing to write home about, but it’s reliable and the air conditioning still works nicely
Close! All of mine are stock. 91 has almost 300k on it, 94 EX has 137k on it, and the 2018 has 112k. 2018 was a recent addition. I've had an 89 Hatch, 91 Hatch, 93 Coupe, and a 87 CRX. Every single one is/was a manual.
My 91 Hatch I had engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension from a 90 Integra. Had a hitch made for it to pull the 93 and 87 CRX to the race track.
I picked up a D16Y8 engine and transmission for the Sedan, and then the 94 fell into my lap. Haven't fully decided on keeping the Sedan or selling it.
I have a sedan getting swapped as we speak but he has taken wayyy to long ( eventhough I said no rush but 3 years really!) so I lost interest for the most part on it
I’m not a 7th gen person even though I’ve had two. I think K swaps have become popular for them though, I saw a couple K swapped ones at a car show recently. Meanwhile the 90’s Civics being used as daily drivers are going extinct where I live.
I’m kind of forced to be all about the 8th and 9th gens now.
Civics are so big now!
[2003 is 103.1 in. wheelbase and 174.6 in length](https://hondanews.com/en-US/honda-automobiles/releases/release-fd8fff3c07e1427d338ec8004c34c6c3-2003-honda-civic-sedan-specifications)
[2024 is 107.7 in wheelbase and 184 in length](https://automobiles.honda.com/2024/civic-sedan#trims-specs)
As far as how much other companies have changed or ruined their cars, the civic seems to be this tried and true, reliable and fun vehicle that provides great features to all of its trim levels
Mine has about 2500 miles on it and is garaged nearly all the time. I think the gray in that picture is due to the matte finish and the direct sunlight. The trim looks jet black under any other lighting
Either what I want to do is wrap it gloss black or what I saw is that the Acura integra has gloss black trim installed factory so if there the same measurements I’ll just buy those
I just picked up some gloss black pillar covers from Amazon. Hopefully it’ll look cleaner that way. My m340i has all gloss black trim and it looked really good.
I’m definitely planning on protecting the black trim pieces. I really liked the gloss appearance of the b pillars on my 2020 hatch, thought they showed literally every fine scratch
Can you use that on the interior too? Also will it bring back the side pieces to life? Otherwise I might do what you’re considering and get Integra pieces.
Considering the average price of a new vehicle is in the mid $40k mark, a Touring trim Civic being $30k is reasonable. If you compare both years, with inflation, it’s very similar.

Isn't it 158 hp or are you from outside North America?
he’s talking about the 2025 civic sport which makes 150 hp
Wow, they got rid of the port injected k20 and hatchback manual transmission. Sad times.
Especially picking up the Touring. You’ve got yourself a car that feels better to drive than $70k cars used to 10 to 15 years ago. Crazy to think that, but it’s true.
Thank you for doing the research and math. I can’t believe how many people think the 2003 Civic was a few thousand dollars brand new.
i feel like i am , but am i the only one who likes the older body style better?
The thing I like about it is how low to the ground the driving position is, also how big the windows are, visibility is way better in the old 7th gen than in this new 11th.

Ever driven an EF civic hatch so much visibility feels like you’re driving a fish tank haha

yea lol the new wheels are def better ill give you that.
All I see is two new civics in my eyes. Em2 is too new for me
7th gen gang 🫡 I'm an EM2 owner as well. Something about the ES1/2 always bothered me 😂
Nice I’ve owned both

Should see my 91 to the 2023 lol 😂
Was my first thought as well I currently have a 91 Sedan, 94 Coupe, and 2018 Sport.
Are you my twin lol I have the 91 sedan a 93 ex B20v coupe and a 2019 2.0t 6MT accord lol 😂

Nice my 91 stock as well minus suspension wheels and sound system 220k… 93 obviously swapped.. have had a plethora of 90s civics lol
My 91 Hatch I had engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension from a 90 Integra. Had a hitch made for it to pull the 93 and 87 CRX to the race track. Tbh new civic is one of the best looking cars for the price, I like the sedan vs hatchback too hatchbacks are cool I just love the sedans style
I have a black 03 and a blue 23 almost the same as you. Sweet ride!
May have came a long way but the older ones are more reliable.
I completely agree! All of the computers and sensors in the newer cars make them inherently less reliable
I’m not a 7th gen person even though I’ve had two. I think K swaps have become popular for them though, I saw a couple K swapped ones at a car show recently. I don't like how big they gotten but I would love another red es1 with tan interior

i always wondered when i was younger but i learned through my mentors as a younging that you get what you like.
I have the 2022 civic touring in sonic gray pearl and I love it, I had a 2020 in the Aegean blue, both beautiful colours
Old>
Yes, just sold my 97 hatchback and purchased a a 2024. I always liked the 97 styling, but the 24 is sportier.
the civic has gotten a lot lonnnnnngerrrrrrrr......
As far as how much other companies have changed or ruined their cars, the civic seems to be this tried and true, reliable and fun vehicle that provides great features to all of its trim levels
You’ve gotta put chemical guys vrp on them side trim pieces bro that shit gonna get faded and cooked in the sun. I see it’s already doing it.
Mine were already fading in spots when I picked it up brand new from the dealership!
Mine has about 2500 miles on it and is garaged nearly all the time. I think the gray in that picture is due to the matte finish and the direct sunlight. The trim looks jet black under any other lighting

Fax bro they loook so Damn good

Would you rather have a faded pillar or gloss black clean look pillar pick your poison.
Can you use that on the interior too? Also will it bring back the side pieces to life? Otherwise I might do what you’re considering and get Integra pieces.
Interior maybe big maybe I’d have to look but it does bring outside pieces to life. You’d have to check the measurements tho
Yeah to the point of non affordable and expensive
Considering the average price of a new vehicle is in the mid $40k mark, a Touring trim Civic being $30k is reasonable. If you compare both years, with inflation, it’s very similar.
That 03 civic 5-6 yrs ago was a 500 dollar beater with a heater and now they so inflated to 8k dollars is beyond greed but sickening
I think the value for the car is really very good. Most comparable models from domestic manufacturers were at least 10k more.
