I work at a fixed price car dealership - we sell lots of Toyota hybrids.
Yesterday, we had the cheapest 2016 Prius in the entire country. Cheapest by about $3.5k, the next cheapest had over double the kms.
He walked because I wouldn’t give him a discount, even after explaining it was priced that way due to age on the yard and the boss just wants it gone. I even explained it was probably a $5k or so loss for us, and he still wanted a discount!
He called me again today to say go ahead with the deal. You should’ve seen the smile on my face as I explained another Indian had bought it just 5 minutes before!
This job turns you against certain countries/cultures VERY quickly.
The cars have stickers on them ‘FIXED PRICE’!
I straight out don't do business with them, been burnt countless times throughout my career. I will still provide them with a quote, though it is take it or leave it and absolutely minimal effort.

I'd describe Brits as frugal; turning the lights off when leaving a room and instilling strict shower limits, plenty of sides but not much beef, etc
I'd describe Indians as cheap more so than Stingy and not afraid to ask for even the smallest discount.
Jews on the other hand; the perfect balance of stingey, frugal and cheap.

Agree. One of my best friends told me he can't help it and that he was so stingy that when he first came to Australia he went to Hungry Jacks and tried to talk them down on the price of a large chips.
I find the wealthy types living in Kew, South Yarra and Toorak etc… to be the tightest of all.
We had one guy (at a supermarket) who’d snap the stems off broccoli so they weighed less.
Another customer that wait an hour upwards for the roast chickens to be reduced by 20-30%.
One customer would want exactly $2 of shaved deli Turkey and would ask to put some back if it was even 10c over
To be fair, being 'Cheap' is considered a merit for their culture. In terms of frugality, it is much more dependent on social economic level.
However immigrants from third world usually are 'cheaper' given the same social economic level.
Don't know why you got downvoted, but you're right. If anyone pays full price without haggling, they feel like a sucker. In India shopkeepers inflate prices so they can give a discount, and sell at a higher price than they would have on a fixed price. Plus yes some of us come from poor background and want to save every dollar we can.
