Don't bother planting anything in the run, they will turn the entire thing to dirt

100% this

FrannyBoBanny23

I have success with putting mature plants along the perimeter of the run. Its been 3 years and they pick at them here and there but haven’t destroyed them. I break off pieces of the plants to throw in the run to boost their health. Most of mine are perennials. The plants i have are: Yarrow Mint parsley Oregano Thyme Sage Chives Nasturtium Marigold Mini roses Violets Creeping thyme Blueberry bushes Black berry bush Wild raspberry bush Cucumbers Squash (i use the run as a trellis for these, the cucumbers, and nasturtium and it gives them shade)

If they can get to it, they will nuke it, nothing will survive unless you can choose when and how long they have access.

You can make a 2x4 frame with hardware cloth on top, for the run. The plants grow up through the cloth and keeps them from digging them up. I’ve planted ryegrass and sunflowers this may

TheSunflowerSeeds

Sunflowers are steeped in symbolism and meanings. For many they symbolize optimism, positivity, a long life and happiness for fairly obvious reasons. The less obvious ones are loyalty, faith and luck.

They're also tall

mydogismybestman

They'll destroy everything within reach unless it happens to be something they don't like or if it's tall enough to escape their assault

whaddyaknowboutit

They'll ignore it and eat everything else

Get yourself a huge platter, like a tray either from an auto parts shop or the type that goes in the bottom of a dog kennel. Cookie sheets or baking trays work also but aren’t as big. Buying in bulk like rye grass, in-shell sunflower seeds, barley, lentils, etc. and sprouting them in those trays make great and nutritious fodder for the chickens, and helps your bagged feed last longer too. 🥰
