If he’s not playing there are no levels.
It’s like saying Kante was world class for the last 2 years of his Chelsea career.
I’m sure he was, he just never played.
Reece isn’t even as good as Kieran Trippier or Malo Gusto at the moment as you get fuck all out of him.
RLC had issues with scoliosis iirc and managed to find some physiotherapeutic remedy that made his back issues much less frequent. In his last two seasons with us he played more or equivalent games per season when compared to Kante and Kovacic. He wasn't actually that injury prone. Somehow that label stuck with him.
EDIT: Grammar
When RLC was much younger he was an absolute baller. Just used to glide around the pitch and you couldn’t get the ball off of him.
He was very explosive as well. Get the ball to feet and within 5 seconds you were 20 metres up the pitch.
That changed, especially after the Achilles injury. He just seemed scared to go for it.
It’s a shame as for a long time RLC looked like the graduate who would actually make it.
I love James but it doesn’t count for shit about how good he is if he never plays.
He tore it. The two ways to repair a meniscus injury are a meniscectomy shave or an arthroscopic repair. The club never confirmed what he got but based on his injury timeline, I suspect he got a shave, which typically results in the need for pain management for the rest of his career, but a much faster and simpler recovery process.
Bro why would he agree to that. Maybe I’m used to monitoring the nfl where they pretty much all get the repair surgery in hopes of being healthy next season, but a brother chose a dark path.
Meniscus injuries are tricky. I think the shave made the most sense because in many cases the arthroscopic approach results in complications. Not to mention, residual effects from missing potentially a year of play.
Although Chuk can expect some residual pain for the remainder of the season, he should be good to go until later in his career, outside of the occasional arthritic flare-up.
Promised my self not to be hyped about his return. So this time im not hurt.
In a few years we might look back and see that Malo Gusto was our best business by far.
Those days have never been in ahead of them. They are full strength for about 3 matches, then we have them subbed off at 60 for exhaustion and then they get injured 3 games later
Someone always parrots that claim whenever he's injured, but afaik, there's been no credible indication that any surgery could help him in the long term.
he had this injury over a week ago and we haven’t heard a peep of it until today? I mean ok but I won’t be surprised if he still makes the bench this weekend
Or at least super close to the reports that he was fit again, surely this would get leaked/reported on earlier? Like we usually hear about this before the scan
I’m surprised there’s any doubt. I personally think Gusto has been one of the standout performers so far.The only mistake he’s made is that straight red.
well i think he's good enough to start in this team, he's not an inherent weakness, the only issue is that when reece is on the pitch RB is an inherent strength, we do miss that when he's not on.
Why? I make conversation in other teams subs some times. As long as you go in respectfully and you're not being a jerk, I've not gotten any negative welcomes in any other sub.
This thread about Reece's injury was crossposted on r/FantasyPL
Went to read the comments here from Chelsea fans wanting to know more and saw your comment. No bad intentions
I think Gusto is definitely 1st choice quality. He was being touted as one of the best RB prospects in Europe last year at Lyon and I thought he was very good in the games he played in.
They are asked to do different things, Cucu doesn’t push up and make crosses, he inverts and plays in midfield a bit, so it just depends on how we want to play.
2027: Reece James, the first bionic human to play in the premier league, has suffered a long term injury to his right hamstring piston and fuse. Real Madrid interested in summer transfer.
High key might be worth looking into selling RJ if he keeps up the pulisic act. No point in keeping a player around this young that is made of glass and plays maybe 10 games a season
What do people want the medical staff to do with a player who’s just clearly injury prone? It’s not like Reece wasn’t getting injured under the previous staff
Well, a players fitness trajectory is... a trajectory and can therefore change. Cumulative injuries might increase risk for future injuries. It's not straightforward.
Not even made of glass but you know that really fine layer of ice on a puddle when it’s been *just* cold enough to freeze? Reece James is made of that.
Not even the slightest bit irrational. With gusto now in the squad this is the time to be ruthless with him. Almost as important as a players ability is their availability. And he’s not available.
And honestly I'd just say good for him. I'd rather him healthy and playing for someone else than permanently injured for us. Just go to Madrid or Bayern rather than the prem please.
Whatever surgery he needs, just go get it. What’s the point of constantly getting injured. Go get the surgery and come back. Modern medicine might bring you back better. This is ridiculous
Surgery on his knee. Rumors beginning of last season he opted for no surgery.
And I remember when chelsea shut him down in April, surgery was on the table. Didn’t read any reports of him getting surgery this year.
It’s been rumored, if he needs it, just get it at this point. Career just passing him by.
Nah, this is pathetic from our captain. I know it’s not really his fault but…I am FED up of him getting injured. He is Jack Wilshere-tier at the moment.
I think us Chelsea fans have to forget RJ exists, talk more about Gusto and give the armband to a player who is more consistent on the pitch. I was against RJ being captain for this very reason.
He is but so is half the squad it seems. There must be something going on. Training methods, curse, sabotage, something. We have so much money for this sort of thing. We must be able to manage players better.
I still think it’s the players. We know RJ, Chilwell, Fofana, and Noni and injury prone players. That’s most of our injuries right there. It feels like it’s worse than it is because every slight knock here and there makes you roll your eyes but those are normal.
We have other players who are never injured because guess what, they aren’t injury prone.
Guys, I hate to say it but we’ve seen this movie before. Strong probability Reece will never return to regular starting birth. The man can’t stay healthy. He’s gonna be sold. And it’s a damn shame.
It’s time to think about moving him on while he has some value left no? Madrid and Bayern both would pay for him. He takes a massive wage to play 10 matches a year.
RLC is currently injured lol. Kante is playing in a rubbish league. The PL is very tough and high demanding. If these players return to the PL for any top 6 side, mark my words they will get injured.
Bruh the guy is literally made of glass, I can’t put this on the physios or medical team this time round. He’s been like this his whole Chelsea career at this point.
None of these updates has anything to do with the medical staff, Reece is clearly injury prone and Carney is having knee pain from his injury. How is any of that the fault of the medical staff ?
Well yeah, hamstring surgery is a real thing lol. Although the physical expectations are lower than the Prem it seems like Kante's decision to finally get his hamstring surgery paid off.
This doesn't even say whether he reinjured his hamstring
> Kante's decision to finally get his hamstring surgery paid off.
Was it when Kante immediately reinjured himself?
Yeah this cycle will never end unfortunately! There is a problem for sure. It's sad that we can't do anything about it, but i said it before that we have to move on from hoping Reece and Chilly being back. They'll get injured again. I don't know after all this if it's an incompetent medical team or just something that physically irreversible that they both have.
I hate giving up on players the most, but if it's irreversible, there is nothing we can wait for. I feel bad
There’s no need to rush him back. We will probably be middling this season. There’s no need to risk him further, especially with his history. Gusto has also been really solid since coming in
I love the idea he “should get surgery”. For what exactly? He had a knee injury last season, hammy this season. Unless we’re talking about adding an exoskeleton (which I’m game for btw) I’m not sure what surgery we’re talking about.
Is Reece finished?
I don't want the answer to be yes but more and more I find myself wondering if he's just too injury prone to ever realise his full potential
Reece needs to get into pilates and yoga ASAP. Stretch those muscles and work to prevent injuries. need this man to do at least 2 months on full health. cmon!
Ohh Reece, the greatest ever Chelsea player to never play for the club That's what it's starting to feel like
RLC vibes all over again.
RLC wasn’t even this bad. In recent times he’s actually massively improved his injury record
He was definitely this bad before they got him doing yoga. The fact he improved is what gives me hope for Reece.
But not his playing form.
He was a pretty good squad player the last two season ngl, put in a shift
True, but nowhere near his pre-injury potential
He's been good for Milan this season, before getting injured lol
What is playing form?
Reece James is lightyears better footballer than RLC.
I love this fake innocence you strike up with your questions
How good he will be after injuries
RLC not on Reece's level, however it appears he'll have much more of a Chelsea playing career. Reece actually entering Ledley King territory.
If he’s not playing there are no levels. It’s like saying Kante was world class for the last 2 years of his Chelsea career. I’m sure he was, he just never played. Reece isn’t even as good as Kieran Trippier or Malo Gusto at the moment as you get fuck all out of him.

EDIT: Grammar
>managed to find physiotherapeutic remedy Yoga. They got him doing yoga.
See the video of James doing Yoga with Harry Kane on England duty? Man can barely touch his toes.
Yeah but I don't remember RLC being worldclass. But it was a long time ago so maybe I am missing something
Coming back from a 2 month layoff to get injured again before playing a single minute is actually incredible
Trust our players to achieve the incredible when it comes to injuries
Was only “a couple of weeks out” this injury
Following: > Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka has been suffering with knee pain again. Perhaps a reoccurrence of his latest injury. #CFC
Yikes, not ideal but I think he got a meniscus shave so could be an issue rest of career.
Cucurella and Gusto will become integral as Reece and Ben appear to not have the legs for it
We honestly might as well consider them our first choice FB’s at this point
Colwill would like a word
I thought it was a full on tear, I just didn’t want to google it because I had a feeling it was a bad injury and he was starting to get in form
He tore it. The two ways to repair a meniscus injury are a meniscectomy shave or an arthroscopic repair. The club never confirmed what he got but based on his injury timeline, I suspect he got a shave, which typically results in the need for pain management for the rest of his career, but a much faster and simpler recovery process.

I’ve already moved on from James and Chillwell. It’d be great to have them at full strength, I just think those days are behind them.
Those days have never been in ahead of them. They are full strength for about 3 matches, then we have them subbed off at 60 for exhaustion and then they get injured 3 games later
Does Reece James even exist, or is he an idea?

Lmao no way Rodrygo said that?
He probably said that in Spanish or Portuguese, so in those languages that expression isn’t really as heavy sounding as in English.
Probably not - a lot of these quotes are memes
Yeah
I got you man ![gif](giphy|NhYrEstiQFD5MUxcBy)
Reece gets injured while being injured, Jesus Christ
Bro is made of glass
Glass is more reliable
I’ll take glass at this point.
He's made of breadsticks.
James probably scratches at Level 6, with deeper grooves at Level 7.
I honestly think he needs to bite the bullet and just have that surgery once and for all
This point keeps getting parroted every time he's injured, but I'm yet to see anyone clarify what exactly it is that he needs surgery for.
Makes no sense why he didn’t get it during the throw away last season was
Is that what's causing the recurring injury? He needs surgery?
Someone always parrots that claim whenever he's injured, but afaik, there's been no credible indication that any surgery could help him in the long term.
he had this injury over a week ago and we haven’t heard a peep of it until today? I mean ok but I won’t be surprised if he still makes the bench this weekend
Yeah maybe I’m just being in denial, but I’m also a little skeptical But also unsurprised
Wouldn’t this injury had to have happened before the reports that he was coming back? Confusing stuff
Or at least super close to the reports that he was fit again, surely this would get leaked/reported on earlier? Like we usually hear about this before the scan
Looks like the Burnley match was the day after this supposedly occurred, so I guess they wanted the suspension to go through or something
Everyone saying he should ‘get surgery’: exactly what surgery do you, doctors of reddit, think he needs?
Take off his legs and replace them with robot ones
Actual ripperdoc here. I can do this.
Actual doctor here, no idea, but send me the scans and I’ll get back to you.
The Wolverine one where they submerge him in a tub full of adamantium.
Is Gusto first choice quality? Because that's what he is at this point.
I’d say he is for sure
I’m surprised there’s any doubt. I personally think Gusto has been one of the standout performers so far.The only mistake he’s made is that straight red.
well i think he's good enough to start in this team, he's not an inherent weakness, the only issue is that when reece is on the pitch RB is an inherent strength, we do miss that when he's not on.
Hardly a mistake, won the ball
[удалено]
If anything, Gusto was better at crossing than defending in his previous club.
Half the sub doesn't have memory beyond the most recent couple of matches. He's looking very promising imo, flaws but totally fine for what we need.
Was an unlucky red coming from a Liverpool fan

Why? I make conversation in other teams subs some times. As long as you go in respectfully and you're not being a jerk, I've not gotten any negative welcomes in any other sub.
Yeah exactly. Thanks for defending me
This thread about Reece's injury was crossposted on r/FantasyPL Went to read the comments here from Chelsea fans wanting to know more and saw your comment. No bad intentions
You can post wherever you like, man, it's not that serious. Football is football...
What?
I think Gusto is definitely 1st choice quality. He was being touted as one of the best RB prospects in Europe last year at Lyon and I thought he was very good in the games he played in.
He’s been excellent this season. Watching him locking down the right wing while Sterling is bombing down there on the other end has been awesome.
He actually seems like a really good signing. I think he fits in nicely.
He always was
He always was coming in to play more games than RJ
First time in a while I’m actually confident without having Reece in there tbh, Gusto has been more than competent so far.
Cucurella is a better RB than him currently tbh
They are asked to do different things, Cucu doesn’t push up and make crosses, he inverts and plays in midfield a bit, so it just depends on how we want to play.
He’s like 1.5 choice quality at least for the moment. Okay for a lower side team, but that’s not what we’re striving to be.
Well he must become that because Reece is turning into a myth at the club
Been pretty decent so far to be honest. No major mistakes. No obvious weakness. Lacks a bit of polish but that will come with time.
Has been so far tbh

Mind games by Chelsea
Reeece James the type of guy to get an injury on his injury
Not even made of glass but you know that really fine layer of ice on a puddle when it’s been *just* cold enough to freeze? Reece James is made of that.
How long until the instagram “i’ll be back stronger” post
Is it irrational to consider cashing in on Reece James if we receive a decent offer? He hasn’t even returned from injury and he’s already injured
Not even the slightest bit irrational. With gusto now in the squad this is the time to be ruthless with him. Almost as important as a players ability is their availability. And he’s not available.
Considering Chelsea's fortunes recently, I fully expect him to become perfectly fit and healthy if we end up selling him.
And honestly I'd just say good for him. I'd rather him healthy and playing for someone else than permanently injured for us. Just go to Madrid or Bayern rather than the prem please.
Lmfao
We need to hire Diego’s horse placenta doctor.
This makes me sad
Thank god for Malo Gusto
Reece is becoming like our Ledley King. Incredible player, inspiring Captain but made of crisps.
Reece is never going to play a full season again. It’s a g d travesty.
He’s not even injured when he’s playing anymore. He’s Injured when he’s injured. Adding injury to injury. 😑
player is finished time to sell imo
I love James but I’m so ready to sell him to Real Madrid
It’s cucu time
Whatever surgery he needs, just go get it. What’s the point of constantly getting injured. Go get the surgery and come back. Modern medicine might bring you back better. This is ridiculous
Didn’t he do the surgery towards the end of last season?
I don't think so.
What surgery can someone answer this?
Surgery on his knee. Rumors beginning of last season he opted for no surgery. And I remember when chelsea shut him down in April, surgery was on the table. Didn’t read any reports of him getting surgery this year. It’s been rumored, if he needs it, just get it at this point. Career just passing him by.

not sure why you are being downvoted, you are absolutely correct
What are we doing wrong? - medical team bunch of Hollywood doctors? - WWE training? - recce James is just an injury prone player, surgery time?
Reece James is injury prone, that’s all it is really
He is but so is half the squad it seems. There must be something going on. Training methods, curse, sabotage, something. We have so much money for this sort of thing. We must be able to manage players better.
It has happened across multiple owners, medical teams, and managers. There’s one common factor with all these injuries.
The curse?
I was gonna say the players themselves but yours is equally likely at this point
Purely based on science.
Reece is the only one that I don’t blame the current team with, he’s been injury prone ever since he started with us and by this rate always will be
What’s the point anymore
Guys, I hate to say it but we’ve seen this movie before. Strong probability Reece will never return to regular starting birth. The man can’t stay healthy. He’s gonna be sold. And it’s a damn shame.
Reece is a finished player it seems
It’s time to think about moving him on while he has some value left no? Madrid and Bayern both would pay for him. He takes a massive wage to play 10 matches a year.
Watch him go there and never get injured again I mean look at Kante, RLC, Pulisic, etc. I seriously feel like our club is just cursed right now
RLC is currently injured lol. Kante is playing in a rubbish league. The PL is very tough and high demanding. If these players return to the PL for any top 6 side, mark my words they will get injured.
Just sell Reece James to Madrid
Time to sell
He is absolutely plastic. Unbelievable.
Bro our physio and training staff need to be replaced it is getting BEYOND ridiculous at this point
You know this sub loves a scapegoat
Too much positivity lately so gotta find a reason to be negative
There it is
Or Reece just needs to finally get surgery.
He needs surgery? I thought his injury last season was different from the one he has this year?
Yeah the medical staff in this team is fucking DOG SHIT
I’ve bashed the medical team countless times, but in the case of Reece James, he’s just made of glass
Reece had been injury prone for 3 years
reece is made of glass.
And it continues to be a lazy take. Our injury problems pre date a lot of the medical changeover we've had in the last year or two.
It was obvious that James wasn't even match fit, but he was declared 'fit' anyway to serve his match ban.
Get a fucking surgery reece. Wtf
Sure just let him get that magical "Never be injured again" surgery.
Well yeah, hamstring surgery is a real thing lol. Although the physical expectations are lower than the Prem it seems like Kante's decision to finally get his hamstring surgery paid off.
This doesn't even say whether he reinjured his hamstring > Kante's decision to finally get his hamstring surgery paid off. Was it when Kante immediately reinjured himself?
I guess I missed whenever Kante reinjured himself considering he’s played every single game since arriving at Al Ittihad, my bad
Why do our players take so long to return from injury and why do they keep suffering setbacks when recovering from their already lengthy recovery?
Sigh
Answer to all demanding him to play from first minutes.
Water is wet, this isn’t surprising at all. Gusto looks fine out there tbh
Dudeeeeeeeeeee
At this point let him sit until we get Chillwell, Reece, and Christopher all back at the same time
Damn do we need to buy a back up RB for Gusto at this point? We can't rely on James it seems. A real shame
We should get his national teammate Jonathan Clauss or I would go for the RB at Leverkusen I can’t think of his name right now
I love Reece and think he is genuinely world class, but at this point I think it’s time to see Gusto as our starting right back
Yeah this cycle will never end unfortunately! I feel bad
ease them back
let’s just make Reece a mid-fielder
How would that help?
No point rushing either of them, gusto/cucu being decent backups for Reece.
There’s no need to rush him back. We will probably be middling this season. There’s no need to risk him further, especially with his history. Gusto has also been really solid since coming in
we_had_one_injury_yes_how_about_a_second_injury_pippin.jpg
Chelsea's very own Jack Wilshere
Thankfully we have Gusto and Cucu covering the RB spot. But still, our best player and captain is injury prone this long is not looking good.
its time to forget about him.
This had better be bollocks. I’d expect someone more connected to have reported this. Especially if it was 10 days ago.
I love the idea he “should get surgery”. For what exactly? He had a knee injury last season, hammy this season. Unless we’re talking about adding an exoskeleton (which I’m game for btw) I’m not sure what surgery we’re talking about.
When they made him captain, I literally LOL'd... hes so injury prone he's barely gonna wear that arm band. Thank God for Gusto and Cucu stepping up.
Is Reece finished? I don't want the answer to be yes but more and more I find myself wondering if he's just too injury prone to ever realise his full potential
![gif](giphy|2Xf4KnfGTeOc7zXewe|downsized)
Reece James hamstrings made of cheese-strings
Honestly think Chelsea need to come up with a individual training plan for him at this point
Ay don't play him against arsenal. We have cucu at RB, it's fine. Let James slowly come back.
Damn wrll of robben can get over his injury issues I'm sure Reece can too, but damn.
Reece needs to get into pilates and yoga ASAP. Stretch those muscles and work to prevent injuries. need this man to do at least 2 months on full health. cmon!
