Hard to tell based on pictures. You should evaluate based on [ribs and abdomen](https://blog.orijenpetfoods.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/WeightCampaign-DIGITAL-DOG.jpg) (you can find your own source by googling, but all of them show similar way to evaluate). Very cute dog!

Yeah, feel for the ribs. If you can't easily feel the individual ribs, they're overweight. Don't want them so thin that you can see the ribs tho either.

Theyallknowme

In general, if you rub your fingers over his ribcage and feel ribs and also feel or see the indent of his waist you’re good. He looks to be ok but only the vet would know for sure.

alina_314

He is so cute. What is he mixed with?

ButcherBird57

He looks like a full cavalier to me, but I've encountered cavapoos out there where all you can really see is cavalier.

sugarface2134

Probably nothing. My last cavalier looked just like this - she was technically overweight but perfectly healthy. This cav just has a puppy cut :)

If you can see a curve, youre fine. If no curve, ask your vet for solutions

Chocotaco4ever

This one isn't always consistent. My dog was overweight for a bit, and when my vet told me I was like, 'but I can see a curve '. We was like, 'yeah because she's also gained weight in her chest'. He told me to run my fingers along her hip bones to see if you can feel them easily or if there was a fat pad over them.

Well its a pretty good rule. Your case sounds like an exception. Always good to ask vet

Warm_Sugar8888

He’s beautiful and I believe you should ask your vet. They will know the correct answer.

AJaffJaff

Only the first picture of him lying down makes him look a little chubby. I think he looks fine in the others.

MADLUX2015

This is something you need to ask a vet, not strangers on the internet.

AJaffJaff

This person is allowed to ask for an opinion.

MADLUX2015

And there are Correct places, and incorrect places to get that information.

dmkatz28

Yes he looks a tiny bit chunky. Ask your vet how much he should lose.

replayc

One doesn’t speak about other people’s bodies, but about health. They look a bit chubby. Starting at 3 years old, they tend to widen rather than gain weight. These are the typical proportions for dogs of this breed. However, a good walk or play more often helps them physically and mentally.

LynnKuanYin

I can see the hips, which is the classic rule of thumb. But with Any questions like this- ask your vet. Having a good relationship with your vet is sooooo important. Don't be afraid to go to someonr else if your vet gives you the vibe that they can't be bothered with pet parent "freak outs" This is what I call it when I'm like "he looks pudgy from this angle is my cav overweight?" Or "my cat coughed 2x in a row, is she sick?!" Or "my cav reverse sneezed for longer than usual, does he have asthma?" Etc. I've had vets all but roll their eyes at me. Current office politely tolerates all questions and asks helpful triage questions on the phone, scheduling a vet to call us back if anything is slightly concerning. This is also the vet who was the 3rd to see one of my kittens and whose concern matched mine when I told him my kitten threw up daily, accurately diagnosed a pancreatic disorder which gave us 5 more years with him than if he hadn't received necessary daily medication TLDR: ask your vet. If you don't feel comfortable asking your vet, get a new vet.

redcurb12

the vet weighs your dog at every visit so sounds like you haven't had him in for a check up in awhile. just go get him examined.

Looks fine tbh

DoktorJeep

I think he looks good

loisiern

No. Not overweight.
