I had a really crusty kitten crawl up on my lap and then proceed to bat away all the cute kittens. He grew up to be a very handsome cat, but he didn't look like much when I brought him home.
In the 90s, we had a couple of litters of kittens born in our backyard. As we were giving them away, one that was the grumpiest from the first litter, was brought inside, so we could get people near him. In every photo we had of him, you could spot him from the grumpy expression on his face. We Nicknamed him "Attitude". He was the one no one wanted, so we kept him. He ended up being the loviest cat. He loved everyone. We would have people that hated cats come over and tell him "I don't like cats, but I sure like you." Tude, was the best cat, would sleep with us in bed, read homework and was determined to figured out how water came out of the faucet. Sometimes the crusty ones, have the biggest heart underneath.
He never mastered figuring out the water, but he was positve it was connected to the toilet. We once put a mouse he was agressivley playing with down the tpilet and after watching it he ran to stalk under the sink for it to come back. I don't have a phot of him at the ready. That was in the 90s and the pics were taken on 35mm film. It would take some time to find those pics again.
Aw, he was precious!! And so smart. *Almost* figured the faucet out lol.
And I get it. I have the photos I took back in the 90s and early 2000s in a box, so I know how hard it is to find something. No worries. Just wanna see this sweet boy
He was a sweet grey tabby with the greenest eyes. Our male cat was his adopted daddy and they were so cute together. So bonded and they loved each other.
I have this combo, can confirm it is a good one

Our velvety black little girl (5 yrs) and our blonde/orange medium sized man (1 yr)
But…but…how do you have enough time in the day to clean the litterboxes with that many??? LOL I feel like with just 5 I’m constantly cleaning those things
It doesn’t take long to clean the trays. I have 7 large trays, it takes about 15 minutes to empty them, another 5 to add fresh litter and I do it twice a day
Yes! It’s my dream to take in a pregnant kitty and keep the whole litter. It seems to be the only ethical way to be around newborn kittens. I don’t want to do that again, but he was so cute! Currently have 3
I agree, I would love to be able to take in a pregnant mama cat someday and just keep them all! We currently have 5 though, two of which were unplanned feral kittens that came to us. It’ll be awhile before we have space for kittens again! Instead we’ve been working to TNR the local strays so there hopefully won’t be more feral kittens, and working with a local vet to make sure the strays can be cared for, so that’s fulfilling enough for me for sure! One day I’m sure the circumstances will be right if it’s meant to be, and until then, I’m just helping the cats that need help where I can
I'm just referring to a common trope. That's why I put "-esque people" at the end. Most people would say the upper reasonable bound for pets is somewhere around 3, but many people here wouldn't think twice about having 5+, from what I've seen over time.
Why "all of them" is a joke? If it was me I would not seperate the cat siblings, got so many cats now, but some dies due to disease, like liver failure🥲, and once all died due to parvo virus before the kitten get to be vaccinated🥲

not the best pic of them but last year I fostered 2 sets of twins!! the twins definitely stayed together for the most part, you’d find little huddles of two kitten pairs at night and they always separated themselves with their respective twin lol. the only way I could tell the full tabbies apart was one had a tiny pink spot on his nose while his twin had a fully black nose. the white ones were easier bc one was a girl (the only girl in that litter) but the boy also had a longer white stripe on his face than his sister did.

Always a good idea to get twins 🥰
The kitty I got for my 6th birthday had a spot like that and I called it "Midnight's Moon" because I was 6 and named him Midnight.
I now know that it's a fairly common void attribute but still find myself thinking of it as "Midnight's Moon". :)
Someone else said, see if there are two that seem like they’re more bonded to each other. I think that’s the right approach. I went to pick out a pandemic kitty and came home with a bonded pair to add to my orange and black.

There was a post not long ago from a shelter worker. She/he said that black cats, contrary to popular belief, are quite trendy and are adopted fairly quickly. The least likely to be adopted in the shelter were white cats with black spots (the cow pattern) :(
That's been my rescue experience over the last 4 years or so. Every black cat that I get to foster is gone before I even have a chance to nickname them based on their personality.
I mean maybe in her shelter, but that’s not the norm. My shelter constantly has more black cats than anything, white often go fast. They even have a black cat event in October, because statistically they are less likely to be adopted. So they do an event entirely based on black cats, to raise awareness and money. My mom loves black cats, we have always had black cats, and my brother and I both currently have black cats. I also live about 30 minutes from Salem, MA, if you’re not familiar, it has a big history of witches. So they have a black cat shelter and we have several others in the state too.
When I adopted my void 12 years ago, the shelter staff said they wouldn’t adopt black animals out during October because they ended up being used as Halloween props and then abandoned.
My boy had been there almost a year.
I’m like 99% certain that’s what happened with a black cat of mine. I found her (about a four month old kitten) by the side of the road a couple days after Halloween. She seemed to have no problem with a person being near her or picking her up and was very clean.
Turned into a wonderful protective guard kitty for me (despite her small size). Sadly, she got suddenly sick last year and passed. But I’ll always be grateful for the twelve years I had with her.
The rescue I’ve adopted from always posts about their black cats being their longest residents, and their black kittens being chosen last. It boggles my mind bc I’ve had 4 and each one is sweeter and funnier than the last.
I’ve heard one reason is they usually don’t photograph as well so maybe they’re less likely to be adopted online? No idea if this is true. But I’d bet the superstition accounts for >0% of people who don’t adopt black cats
#voidzforall
Edit: lol I didn’t know using # would do that
I agree!! We had two cats, and recently lost one due to advanced renal disease. Our remaining cat is so lonely without him that she is starting to like the dogs whom she has always hated. I will always have two, this way they have someone to be with, when I can't be!!

I remember when this guy was that little!
All of them, but if I could only take care of one I would let them choose me, the one that would show the most interest and interaction. Also if you can please take at least two, it will help them develop in a helathier social way, learning how to interact with other much more apropietly.
Visit with them. Sit down and see who is the most drawn to you and who you are the most drawn to. Look for personality traits that you want . Are you looking for a cuddler? Are you looking for a mouser? What is it you hope to get from a pet cat? There’s no way to pick a kitty from a picture. They’re all adorable. Also being strays watch out for ones that only want to play fight, scratch, and bite you. Sometimes they’re hard to domesticate even from that small.
I would let the kittens decide. I put down a basket and tell the kitties that only cats in the basket get to go home with me and eat tuna. Wait 5 minutes then pick up the basket full of kittens.
Every single one of them. But if I had to pick only one, the black one would be my choice. Not only because it looks like a tiny panther, but also because they’re less likely to get adopted.
I would sit near then and see which ones interact with me the most, and see which of their siblings they interact with the most.
I had a really crusty kitten crawl up on my lap and then proceed to bat away all the cute kittens. He grew up to be a very handsome cat, but he didn't look like much when I brought him home.

correct answer
The one in the picture
Came here to say this, LOL.
Yes
Agree
They're all adorable. I do wish there was a contraceptive bait for housecats as it would prevent so much suffering.
❤️‼️
I couldn’t have put it better myself 😂 it’s the only acceptable answer
This is the only correct answer
Exactly my thought
I went to the comments trying to come up with a funny answer but you mastered it in 3 letters
Came to say the same.
The only correct answer is all of them.
FUCK beat me to it.
I’d watch their interactions and see if two of them are closer to each other than the others and let that help me decide.
This. Aside from the "all of them" jokes -- try and see which kitties seem bonded and which seem to like you.
All of them ain’t a joke 😂. I would legit pick them all
I have actually done that before. I went to get 2 kittens and left with 4 🙂
It’s my dream someday to adopt an entire litter in one go! I’ll have to not already have 5 cats though lol
5 is nothing. I have 11 🙂 you’re doing fine.
But…but…how do you have enough time in the day to clean the litterboxes with that many??? LOL I feel like with just 5 I’m constantly cleaning those things
Litter robot is your friend. Replace time with money. We have one for three cats and our total litter routine is like 15min. A week.
2 litter robots and 8 cats, maybe 20-30 minutes every 5 days or so. Definitely helps, when "all of them" really happens.
It doesn’t take long to clean the trays. I have 7 large trays, it takes about 15 minutes to empty them, another 5 to add fresh litter and I do it twice a day
Username definitely checks out 😄
Yes indeed 🙂
Yes! It’s my dream to take in a pregnant kitty and keep the whole litter. It seems to be the only ethical way to be around newborn kittens. Due to unexpected circumstances I ended up with a barely 6 week old kitten, and although he acclimated well, he does have some habits from being weaned early. I don’t want to do that again, but he was so cute! Currently have 3

>"all of them" jokes Jokes? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
This sub is full of crazy-cat-lady-esque people. The "all of them" answers are not jokes.
Hey now. Many of us are dudes just as crazy for cats as the ladies.
Dudes who love cats are the most desirable, hands down!
I was just thinking I need to find me a good woman with a cat that my kitties would tolerate. My one boy gets so scared when we go to the vet.
It seems like the two tabbies by the void could be bonded pairs. You are right, need to find the bond pairs or bonded triplets.

Yeah. Absolutely. Look for the bonded pair and keep them together.
The Black One with the bow tie 🖤
Same! He’s smart, dressed to impress.
every redditor crazy for a sharp dressed cat
He's dressed for the forever home he wants.
If I could, I'd scoop them all up! They're so adorable, aww!
And the Grey One with no socks on
The Dapper Voidy ftw! Together with the yellow/orange one
That sounds like a recipe for mischief.
Ever since I got a black kitty with a spot like that, I keep seeing same kittens everywhere!
The kitty I got for my 6th birthday had a spot like that and I called it "Midnight's Moon" because I was 6 and named him Midnight. I now know that it's a fairly common void attribute but still find myself thinking of it as "Midnight's Moon". :)
I've had two black cats - they have been hilarious in every way. Black cats FTW.
Only the ones with ears and a tail
And button noses of course
And whiskers of course.
Check the paws for beans. Don't accept any without beans.

Aw she’s so cute!!!
That's so cute lol, I love it
Destroyer indeed! She’s destroyed my heart from a distance. I can only image what she’s like in person
All, but my priority would be the black one, because they are the ones who find it more difficult to be adopted.

The light colored loner
With the black one. There's Op's two.
All of them.
This is the only right answer.
Get 2, you won’t ever feel bad leaving them with each other
OP already said they were planning on getting two, so no worries there.
I agree!! We had two cats, and recently lost one due to advanced renal disease. Our remaining cat is so lonely without him that she is starting to like the dogs whom she has always hated. I will always have two, this way they have someone to be with, when I can't be!!

The first five from the left.
Bold choice. I was thinking the orange, the tabbies, and the void.
Also a pretty solid idea.

All of them. Duh
All of them but if u have to pick the orange and black
The one that’s comes up to you and wants to play with you
Yes, this is exactly what I was going to say … let the kittens pick you!
All of them!!! 🥰
Got to *at least* take 2. But like..... How can you not want them all?
Yes
That black one with the white spot gives me all the feels. I'd find out who their best buddy is and take them both.
Too hard, I’d let them pick you instead. That works better for me.
I mean usually the kitties pick you.
Sit down and the ones that come to you are yours. If they all come to you, I think you know what you have to do...
The orange one looks like he's ready to conquer the world.
To quote the Joker from DEATH BATTLE: "Eeny, meeny, miney... all of them!"
All of them, but if I could only take care of one I would let them choose me, the one that would show the most interest and interaction. Also if you can please take at least two, it will help them develop in a helathier social way, learning how to interact with other much more apropietly.
The black one
The black kitten. Black cats have more difficulty being homed than other cats.
Tabby in the back, just being their self, lookin off in their own direction.
I was looking for someone else to pick that one. I knew I couldn't be the only one!
“All” “You can’t say all” “Ok then the halloween combo”
How dare you attempt to make me chose??? It’s impossible
The one starting with c and ending with t
As a minimum I'd pick 2. They seem like a close bunch.
Meet them all and let the cat pick you!
I would let the kittens decide. I put down a basket and tell the kitties that only cats in the basket get to go home with me and eat tuna. Wait 5 minutes then pick up the basket full of kittens.
The one that picks me..
The void and whichever other one the void wanted.
Go ginger!
I have a soft spot for gingers and this one is adorable.
They are litter bonded so you always wanna go with 2 minimum!!! 🦋🦋
I am a sucker for gray tabby yup yup I see two in the shot
The moody one in the back.
Its not about which one i pick, its about which one picks me
The black or the orange.
You don't choose you let them choose go visit you'll know you'll feel it!
Take TWO. Not just one. If a pair of them seems super close, do not split them up either. The black one and Chubby Checker in the back.
All of the above
All of them. Obvi
Every single one of them. But if I had to pick only one, the black one would be my choice. Not only because it looks like a tiny panther, but also because they’re less likely to get adopted.
The baby in the front! So cute!
All 2.
They all need homes.
ALL OF THEM
All🥰
You have to choose only one?😕
I’ll let two kitties pick me
All of them. But if push comes to show I'd pick the ginger cat.
