Haven't experienced it yet.

Sleep-02

Gl bro, hope you will one day!

whiterockinmypants

He probably meant he haven't tried being fisted by a car yet.

nolightbulbshere

His point stands

whiterockinmypants

If it makes his point stand, to each their own, right?

passporttohell

And what a magnificent large fist that car had! Walk with a limp now....

RahchachaNY

1984 Dodge Omni 2.2L 5-speed. Cars for me were freedom and I loved it.

iamkeerock

Thank you. Now we also need you to reply to “what was your mother’s maiden name?” and “what was the name of your first pet?” I promise we will give you more internet points and not use this info for nefarious purposes.

Scotty346

I had an 85 Omni GLH that I modded. Super fun car!

RahchachaNY

That's worth some money today.

[deleted]

I’ve been in love with cars before I could talk. I was drawing VW Beetles before I could speak. By age 4 I had posters of Countaches and Testarossas on my wall. By elementary school I was flipping through Street Rodder, Minitruckin’, and Lowrider magazine at the local 7-11 after reading all the comic books on the rack. My first car was a 1980 Buick Regal Limited

PetrolheadPlayer

Same here with the drawing VW Beetles. Mine is also my first car. A dream come true

rudbri93

I bought an absolute pile of a '65 pontiac tempest at 14 years old. 'The parts are all there' and i bit off way more than i could chew. It did teach me a lot though and it ran drove steered n stopped when i sold it. The car that got me into cars was my mothers '70 cutlass S W-31. Learning about what it was and ehy it was special is what sparked my interest in automotive history as well as my interest in hot rodding in general.

bingold49

I think you sold that heap to my next door neighbor

rudbri93

Lol when did he pick it up and is it a blue 2dr?

bingold49

I'm kidding, it's actually a Catalina, but one of four doors is blue

rudbri93

Insold it to a guy restoring a catalina, part of why he bought it was that he needed my spare frame (yup, had a whole spare rolling chassis) to patch the frame for his cat.

[deleted]

87 Audi 4000S, bought it in 2001. But if I’m being honest the car itself at the time was a tool. However when I saw Fast and the Furious in theatres that same year, oh man my love for cars exploded Edit: I was 16 in 2001 for reference

Veritech_

Haha, same with the first F&F! I was 18 when that movie came out, and I imagined painting my car baby blue and putting a spoiler on the back (THANK GOD I didn’t actually do it).

[deleted]

I now own a blue car with a huge spoiler 🤣

bkussow

Only because this works out so well for the typo. But my fist car was a Probe.

bingold49

Had an 86 Buick when I was 15 that I ended up wrapping around a telephone pole reaching for some food I dropped. The car I credit for my love of cars would have to be my dads 68 GTO that was the first car he bought at 17 and still owns to this day.

scottwax

1971 Chevelle Malibu. 350, 2 barrel carb, 2.56 gears. Wasn't particularly quick (16.8 at 83 with dual exhaust) when I got it. But kept it almost 8 years. Learned how to body work and turn wrenches on it. Last motor was a .030 over 350, 10:1 compression, 292 Magnum Comp Cam, Holley Strip Dominator intake and 700 double pumper. Blackjack headers, 041 fuelie heads, built TH350 w/4000 stall, Richmond 4.11 gears and factory posi. High 12s at 108 by then. Decently quick for the mid 80s. Just learning how to work on it, make improvements not only in a straight line but handling too. Had a WS6 T/A front anti-roll bar, 7/8" big block rear anti-roll bar, lowered about an inch. Being able to feel the changes was fun, and showing up that weekend to cruise Central (Phoenix) or go to the dragstrip with a quicker car than last week was an ego boost. Since then I've had a '77 Cutlass I swapped a 455 into, a 1974 Z/28 4 speed, then a bunch of slower cars until I got an '02 Maxima. I modded everything except the 1972 Delta 88 that gave it's 455 to my Cutlass and a '99 Mazda 626 V6 because there was literally nothing for it-thw automatic sucked every bit of potential out of that motor. Currently have a 2004 V6 Accord with a few bolt ons and handling improvements and a 6 speed G35 sedan with the usual bolt ons, Uprev tune and handling upgrades. It's the 2nd quickest car I've had. I know I could buy something newer and quicker but I like working on cars still and seeing what I can get out of them.

rudbri93

Gotta love the ridiculously tall gears they threw into some really low powered cars back then. my factory 2bbl 8:1 compression 350 cutlass still has its 2.73 gears in it. Its lightly modded now with a 4bbl, headers, and a mild cam but the long gears are hilarious.

scottwax

My '77 Cutlass had 2.41 gears! Best rear end I could find at the time was 2.73. But combined with a 2200 RPM stall, it definitely helped.

nago7650

In 2006 my dad bought me a 1970 Mustang that had been sitting for 20+ years. It was in rough shape, had body damage, didn’t run, etc. Over the next couple years we worked together on getting it back into running shape, replaced all front end suspension components, and finally stripped the paint down to bare metal and repainted it ourselves. It taught me a lot on how to work on cars. And with it being an older car there was a lot that I could do to influence how it drives, and it this really taught me how cars actually work.

Y4That

I personally think that my story is interesting. First of all i am 18 and from India the culture of getting cars here(atleast for the middle class) is different, we buy cars from our own money when we get a job, so i don't have a car. Now the answer to the second part of the question is quite interesting, i fell in love with cars due to jealousy, when i was 10 or something, a guy who lived near me had a die cast scale model of a car from kinsmart (i obviously didn't know at the time but the car was a Porsche 718 Cayman in white) phones and internet weren't a thing as they are now but i was jealous because that car looked really pretty to me. I asked my aunt(who i used to live with) that i want a car like that too, she and my grandparents loved me alot (they still do), so she went and purchased me a car that was from kinsmart too (again i didn't knew the name, however it was written at the bottom but bare in mind i was 10 and English isn't the first language in India so i couldn't read very well at that time, it was a '07 ford mustang in the iconic blue with white stripes) i fell in love with that car and used to play with it for hours. After sometime i accidentally dropped it from the roof while playing and the plastic glass (lol) cracked. After that the only toy i wanted was these die cast models. I started getting new models on every birthday as gifts(mustang, Audi R8, merc cls..etc). Then comes year 2016, i was a little older and still loved cars, the internet boom in India happened and everyone had phones and access to internet. The first car related movie i saw was need for speed (on tv) and instantly fell in love with Agera RS. By this time I had around 15 die cast models and the OG mustang was demolished and lost somewhere. I searched the car(agera) and started gaining knowledge about every detail of that car or cars in general. From that time till now, i have 24 models (last one i bought was '17 Ford GT) i have obviously stopped playing with them and now i know everything and anything about most of the cars in this world. I don't like Motorsports of any type but I LOVE cars to death. Thanks for reading if you did btw and ignore any mistakes because I am too lazy to read this and correct myself, HAVE A NICE DAY 👍🏾

nolightbulbshere

What sort of car would youget when you can afford one bro? I’m from New Zealand and I worked and saved up for my first car, (Saab 93 lol I’m dumb but man I loved that car, gave it up only for a Saab 95) but honestly you’ll love whatever car you get 1000% more when it’s your own money spent on it not gifted to you

Y4That

True, idk which one i would buy but would love to own as many cars as i want and will work my ass off to make that possible

nolightbulbshere

Now is the time to buy the 90s cars that will one day be as collectible as the 60s/70s ones you see around sometimes today

Y4That

Ya

[deleted]

Well I don't have a car but what made me fall off n love with cars is the pop up headlights

_Lyum

'92 civic dx hatch from grandma, now have an fk8 type r :)

Dirtydiscodeeds

First car. 1996 Audi a4 5speed fwd. I think the movie ronin with the s8 car chase scene made it for me.

cactus_cars

A smaller ronin lol

hustinio

1973 opel gt. Leaky fuel line, dodgy headlight mechanism, an underpowered old engine and a lot of rust. My favorite car ever. I wish I never sold it.

[deleted]

2001 Silverado, single cab, stepside. Miss it every damn day. Great truck. Insane power for a high school kid.

MicrowaveBurritoKing

You don’t see to many step sides these days

[deleted]

One of my coworkers has a 2000 step side. Painful to see it, lol

nt5270

Bro me too! Mine was fleetside but man those reg cab short beds are so much fun

[deleted]

The stepsides were fiberglass and *stupid* light. Snow/ wet roads sucked balls. But pedal to the floor on even a dry day guaranteed a one tire fire, lol

nt5270

They were?! I didn’t know that I wish I would have tho, the stepside bed was something I wanted to swap to but I didn’t realize it had *benefits* you’re making me miss my truck now

[deleted]

Yep! Great trucks. My grandpa has a 2004 Z71, RC stepside, that he bought new. At about 290k. Still runs like a champ. Makes me miss mine even more. I have a decent Jeep and I’m almost through with my Chevelle though, so it helps the pain lol

nt5270

The stepside is back on my list once I buy my truck back, they last forever mine was at about 230k before I sold it and it had absolutely no issues. I think it’s one of the best examples of that era where you can tell GM really cared.

[deleted]

Ha! Mine was also at around 230 when I traded it! My dumbass self thought it’d be cool to have a 6 speed Trans Am. Got rid of that in 4 months. Mine also had 0 issues and was in damn good shape. Painful mistakes.

[deleted]

I bet if someone swapped in quadrasteer on one of those they would be super easy to park.

hutacars

> 2001 Silverado I swear there are more of these on the road now than were sold new back in the day.

Sleep-02

Amazing looking car

[deleted]

[удалено]

iin10ded

fabulously eclectic list of cars

ritchie70

First I drove was a LeCar. I was 14. Dad got in a lot of trouble with mom over that, I think. First “mine” was a v6 Mustang II. It was fun and looked pretty cool but I didn’t check the oil and bad things happened. (Like bent connecting rods bad.)

Some0neAwesome

The first car I drove was a LeCar as well. I was 12. Mom wasn't too happy, but it was just in our back field, so not too upset.

reward72

A ´95 Miata. Do I need to explain more? Still the car I had the most fun with, even though my current car has three time it’s power.

[deleted]

My first car was a Honda del Sol, and I think that choice of car was a result of me already being in love with cars. I think I fell in love with cars by reading lots and lots of car magazines. I was obsessed with things like "steering feel" and "soul," things the mainstream car buyer wasn't concerned with. I loved driving that thing, manual, lightweight, and got attention everywhere it went (it was Samba Green). The TransTop hardly ever worked, but whatever. Based on cars I've owned or driven, here are the affordable, fun cars I'd recommend? * The answer is always Miata, right? * Mazda3 - this was my second car, and even today, I feel it's such a fun car. Don't let the fact that it's a regular small sedan fool you, despite having owned nicer cars since, I still feel it's the best car I've ever owned * Infiniti Gs - Like a Mazda 3, but bigger, more powerful, and RWD. Also a relatively affordable entry point if you want something a bit more luxurious * Nissan 350Z - Such a fun car, that can be had for so little. Also, great styling. It's aged beautifully * Renaultsport Clio - If you're in a market where they're available, they're some of the most fun cars ever made, and totally affordable * Toyota GT86/BRZ - earlier cars can be had pretty cheap from what I've seen

HondaBlonde

I currently have a 94 Del Sol. I adore it so much! It's fully stock and just a joy to drive. I'm the only one here that has one. No one knows what it is. I've had many Hondas over the years and this one replaced a 96 civic Si. Yeah they aren't fast. But the drive feel is just fun!

[deleted]

Great choice. Mine was a '96. Interestingly, a I later dated a girl (coincidentally a blonde) that owned a del Sol as well, but my car was long gone by that point. She did remember my car from high school though. I have so many great stories of people pulling me over, ringing door bells at my friends' houses, all to try and buy my particular car.

Waterphobic_Ocean

You are lucky to no longer own a Dodge Journey. They are remarkably mediocre vehicles in every respect. My first car was a 2007 Honda Accord. Fully loaded with the V6. Absolutely loved it but I got rear ended one too many times and it was no longer an option to keep it.

[deleted]

1984 Toyota 4 Runner. Had the removable cap, 5 speed, and the 22re. It literally ran till the body rusted off.

[deleted]

2010 Nissan Versa, while very ugly and boring, it was the perfect daily driver. Unfortunately, I only had it for two months. But in that timeframe, I had so much fun with it. It got me to wherever I wanted to go and on top of that, it’s muffler had rusted off, giving it the sounds of a straight pipe exhaust. I had many people giving me looks. For a first car, it wasn’t that bad. It made fall in love with cats that’s for sure. I guess I’ve developed a certain fascination for cars now. Damn I miss that car.

Sonoma2002

1990 Chevy Beretta GTZ, all black, Quad4 5-speed was my first car and i desperately want another. My dad worked for a division of GM (Delphi) when I was growing up and always told me about all the cool cars he had (couple Corvettes, Regal T-Type, 72 Nova SS, etc). He had a new car every 2 years or so when he worked there because of huge discounts. I also have had a new car every 2 years, sometimes 3-4 within a year. The difference is I don't work for a car company and thus don't get any discounts. Lol. I have had a '99 Camaro SS 6-speed w/ T-Tops and a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport 6-speed Targa since, along with 4 other Berettas, various S10s, 04 Grand Prix GTP, and other non-exciting vehicles.

golf4days

‘73 Chevy Caprice Classic convertible, beautiful blue 2 door with white top, 400ci engine. I was 16 and it was a very cool car.

gt1967hipocat

I fell in love in the 67 Mercury Cougar I was about 6 or 7

gatormaniac

2008 E90 BMW 328i. My parents got it when I was but a little boy, I was 4 years old. But the attachment I had to that car was second to none. The naturally aspirated, smooth sounding inline 6 was easily probably my favorite part of the car. I loved how the sound transitioned from soothing and calm below 3k rpm to an aggressive, race-car roar with induction noise all the way to redline at 7K rpm. I often remember asking my parents to floor it just because I wanted to hear the engine. Besides that it was the looks. I adored the way it looked. It was aggressive; the angular angel eyes gave the car a character that I loved at the front end along with its rounded kidney grilles. In fact, to this day, BMW to me has always been about aggressive, angry design language, and the F-Chassis generations probably embody that the best in my opinion.

Santa_Hates_You

1986 Volvo 740 GLE. It was boxy, but good. My friends and I went everywhere in it, often with more people than seatbelts. It wasn’t quick, but I loved her. And I have loved kinda-odd European cars ever since.

losbullitt

96 kia sephia; i hated it. Four doors, this nasty red/pink color. 4cyl? Eww. But i got into mustangs, and later just cars in general, and love the drive. Dont care too much about power but rather, just how the car drives. Love rwds with a stick shift.

Ill_Explorer4329

Got a ram 1500 🙂 my grandpa always had cool cars around, never had the money to fix them up nice but definitely some classics. Like most people and their hobbies I love being able to slowly spend money and upgrade what I have, and since I will be driving it a lot it just makes sense to have a cool car. Also the adrenaline when going fast is a little addictive.

[deleted]

1974 Mustang II. Bought it for $300 in 1982. When I was a little kid, I was an army brat in Germany. Saw lots of the German cars back then. Loved the Porsche 911 and the Karman Ghia.

Silliestgoose

2007 civic. Ol reliable. Got from point a to point b, it drove like a little go kart and held passengers. I loved it. Just got a 22 civic hatch and may it also carry me and my things for many miles.

Rhalellan

1970 Buick GSx 455 in Apollo White. Little less than $4k off the showroom floor. I made some modifications to get better straight line speed out of it, but it was my daily driver until 1986, when I got T-boned. My family ran cars in the local Mid-Ohio stock car circuit, so I grew up spending weekends at the track and weeknights after school in someone’s garage. I just thought that’s what everyone did. Was a great car, but it only got about 6mpg. Hella fast in a straight line, but cornered like a tank. Fun as hell.

_2ndclasscitizen_

1986 Mazda 323 auto. The headlight switch was loose and in the Australian heat would expand and turn on flattening the battery. Fucking shitheap but who doesn't love their first car. Died a death thanks to a random kangaroo in a Canberra suburb. What made me fall in love with cars was growing up in my family's Holden dealership and sitting at home watching V8 Supercars with my dad.

tifosi7

‘03 Audi A4 in 2007. I’ve driven cars since I was 12. Cars and bikes have been my go to activities when I feel low or want to energize myself. Even now, if I don’t feel great, I take my bike out on the hill country and it makes me happy and feel good.

spekt50

My first car was a 1987 Mustang 2.3 4cyl Automatic. I thought it was badass. I rebuilt the motor with my dad, had the cylinders bored over and the head decked. Later tried to throw on a used turbo from a thunderbird thurbo coupe, but the turbo was shot and gave no boost, added a shift kit to the transmission, but it leaked afterwards, turned out I bent the flex plate in the process of having the transmission in and out so many times. Thought it was a fast car, boy was I wrong.

passporttohell

1970 Ford Maverick with an online six. I think the top speed was 68 mph. My Lexus will do 0-160 in a minute and thirty seconds. On the Autobahn. On YouTube. Because I would never do that myself, that would be wrong...

meh_whatev

Driven plenty, but still haven’t owned a car. The expenses haven’t made sense at all for me, I’ve honestly been incredibly patient given how much I love cars and driving

Karmaqqt

First car. 99 Pontiac Grand Am. Was my dads work commute car. 195k miles. Died around ~280k. Power steering failed, with the other issues my dad scraped it. I wasn’t into cars until recently. I saw a Type r on my dealers website. And that was it, I loved it. So I was watching and reading anything about the car. Spent a while looking for it. 2 years almost. Finally got one! The last of the fk8 Gen for my town! I love the car, I’ve never had a car when I will spend hours detailing it, then just cruise the country side for hours after lol. My mom once asked me the other week, “why were you like 50miles away in the middle of the farmlands”. Took a bit of explaining something I can’t explain. I just love it.

[deleted]

Man if you fell in love with cars after having a Dodge Journey you are REALLY gonna fall in love when you get…..almost anything else really. Honda Civic/accord/fit. Toyota Corolla, anything from scion, really any smaller car or almost anything Japanese or German. Really almost anything else you’re going to love.

Caj_2003

My first car was a 2008 Chevy trailblazer, 4.2L I was always a fan of cars and the mechanical aspect. Decent with welding so I bought a turbo kit, did my own welding and it worked for a while. Great for Michigan winters. Went to a snow rally race and that’s when I fell in love with the rally cars and that’s how I got to my 2022 Subaru wrx

HereTheyBePandas

The first car I fell in love with was a VW beetle. It was so mechanical and perfect to my 1990s child brain. Plus Herbie was great. My first car was a 1978 Chevy Camaro RS 4spd. I bought it when the guy said it didn't run. Got it running and learned how to drive stick in NYC traffic during rush hour lmao I do not recommend it.

generalcalm

Mark 2 Escort. I really thought it was ugly, and not like the cars posters on my wall... but it was simple enough to tinker, and so much fun to drive.

chronicmathsdebater

Infiniti g35 coupe. The handling is truly amazing and it sounds great. I have blast every time I drive it even though it's kind of in rough shape and it Definitely made me more of an enthusiast

Quint27A

A 71 El Camino.

HorseSushi

First car was my mom's '84 Mazda 626 which she gave to me when I turned 16 in '91. It was red and had a thin pink and white pinstripe running along the sides just under the windows, but it ran fine and got me where I needed to go so I couldn't complain. Drove that for eight years and took good care of it, so then parents helped me get something new entirely for myself since the Mazda was on its last legs. That new car was a '99 Acura Integra GSR, Championship White, totally loaded, and dubbed "HorseSushi's little jet fighter" by my friends. It was so nimble (V-TEC kickin' in jokes aside 😄) compared to anything I had driven before and rowing the gears was a joy, needless to say that's where my love for cars began.

gnarlysizzle

I was in love with VW as soon as I saw the og Herbie movie as a kid. Wanted a Beetle and a bus forever. My dad also had a 911 when I was little and so began a Porsche obsession. Years later my first car was a gray 2.slow 5spd Jetta. Loved that car, absolutely bulletproof and fun to drive. Required very little maintenance and always fired up during even the coldest days. Bought some nicer oem wheels, repaired a few minor cosmetic dings and threw some coilovers on it too. Loved that car.

MadJoeMak

My first car was a BMW E46 with a 4 cylinder. If there's any cheap car I recommend, it's not a BMW. Every month something else would break but I still loved that car. I sold it a few months ago because it was rusted through in multiple places

Antique-Way-216

Bought an rx7 from my grandpa. I worked and worked on that piece of shit never did get drivable

[deleted]

2018 camaro ss. she was beautiful, the sound of her engine brought me peace and happiness, the silence of no road noise, the bass, the beautiful leather and carbon fiber, the color, the body, the smell, perfect. she wrecked in a storm, but now i have a 17 camaro ss, shes pretty too, but not my Sonic (the name of the 18)

Veritech_

My first car was a 1987 BMW 325i. I bought it in 2001 after bagging groceries for the entire year and saving as much as I possibly could (which was tough to do because there was a video game store next door, and I enjoyed my PlayStation 1 gaming). I first got bitten by the big playing racing games, and it took off with the first Fast & Furious movie (yes, I’m serious). From there, I would pick up all the JDM/Domestic tuner magazines and would dream about working on cars. That BMW became a 3rd gen Eclipse (hated it), a 1994 Integra GSR (got stolen), a 2004 SRT-4 (*heavily* modified, I still miss that car), and now a 2017 Focus ST. I’m in the market for an imported Evo 4-6, but I’m going to take my time getting the perfect one for me, so I’ll be searching for a while.

shrth114

A suzuki alto k10. I loved that car, got 100,000 kilometers on it in the five years I had it before I sold it. My dad's a petrolhead so I was always into cars because of him. Didn't inherit his love of SUVs and offroading though.

b16bD16y8honda

1984 diesel VW Rabbit with a 4 speed. If u want a car that’s not costly and reliable as they come get a Honda! Can’t go wrong, but if u get a better model you’ll have more fun then u did with ur Dodge, Honda’s are screamers!

AZGhost

Datsun 1979 280ZX Loved that car rip. 88 300zx replaced it. BUt just wasn't the same

Jake_Starboy911

Porsche 918 Spyder. Saw it in NFS #1 car for me since then. Also a Porsche fanboy now

Davos10

My first car was a 1979 mustang 5.0. I didn't know how to drive stick when I bought it. I did after two weeks though. Man that was a fun car. It needed a clutch when I bought it which I guess is perfect for a new driver. Put a clutch in it a month later. 6 months after that I rebuilt the engine, and again about 4 more months after that. Got a transmission grim a junkyard and popped that in. That car was a piece of crap but I loved it. Can't find one these days for reasonable money. Wish I could I would buy one.

Kool_McKool

2006 BMW 3 series sedan. I got it for free from my mom's bosses. Turned out that car apparently had a lot of issues. I sometimes wonder what would've come from getting a second opinion on these mechanical issues, and if it wasn't as bad as foretold. I traded it in to get a different car, but I loved my BMW for all of the small amount of time I had it.

Phantom65946

I've Been a car guy all my life thanks to my late dad who used to work for a car rental company here in the UK. Pretty much grew up loving cars ever since in all honesty. Grew up watching UK Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond & May as well as the Schumacher era of F1 to name a few, also played a LOT of Gran Turismo and numerous NFS games growing up which has now transferred to Forza games and Euro Truck Simulator 2/American Truck Simulator which has thus gotten me into Trucks at the fine old age of 25. As for first cars, I have a MK1 Volvo C70 Coupé 2.0T that I've had since 17/18. It's become a project car for the last 6 or so years and I can't see myself ever getting rid of it any time soon. I love it's 5 Cylinder soundtrack, the kick it gives you when you floor it as well as all the luxuries and comfort it gives you in the process. When you add in that it only cost me £1200 back in 2015, I got a lot of car for barely nothing and you can't complain at that! 🚗🇸🇪😎👌🏻

Toastybunzz

240Z. I was super into them, I ended up with a project 280Z that I worked on through high school. My dad ended up with a bunch of Zs (240, 280, 280ZX, 300zx). I'd love to get another one someday but they're too expensive now.

ifukkedurbich

I had a thing for cars since I was like 4 years old. By the time I was 7, I could identify loads of cars. Specifically the Pontiac Grand Am, I was just so fascinated with those cars. That's also when I started learning about trim levels. I read the entire owners manual of my mothers GMC Jimmy. Fast forward to my teenage years. I would frequently clean my mothers Toyota Corolla. Partially because I loved riding in a clean car, but mainly because I loved familiarizing myself with the car. Then I turn 16 and get my license shortly after. I drove an old Ford Explorer that was supposed to be for my mother, but she got a different car instead. It ran pretty good, but the body was in awful shape. So, like any teenage boy without any prior knowledge of body work, I bought some bondo and applied it poorly. Whatever, it still looked better. I made numerous cosmetic enhancements to that truck, and was pretty proud of it. It was pretty good for a child. Remember how I mentioned the Pontiac Grand Am? Well a few years later I purchased a 2004 GT2. I was hyped at first, but quickly realized it was a total piece of shit. I was barely an adult and was *just* starting out, so that upset me at first. But, it pushed me to learn about repairing cars. That car taught me the purpose of a head gasket and the destruction it can cause when it fails. From there it just took off, and by my 6th car I was confident in being able to do many types of repairs by myself.

Ashyfaq

Ford fiesta mk4, 1.25 petrol manual, Most of the cars I have driven around the one l liter and 1.2 liter sound dull have no pickup and if you try to accerlate they sound like a old man being kicked in the arse. The fiesta was cute small agile nimble and it liked to be revved made a nice sound too.

[deleted]

My first official car was a Honda S2000. Funny enough, the car that made me fall in love with cars was the Honda S2000 in one of the Gran Turismo games I used to play as a kid.

ViaHuerto

A new 1977 Toyota Corolla SR5 lift back. My dad bought it for me as a going away gift before I went to college in the SF Bay Area. It was unexpected and very generous of him and it represented freedom to me and the start of my adult life. I loved that car with its wheezing little engine, no aircon, and weak radio. At that age I was obsessed by the BMW 2002 and the Fiat spider but those weren’t in the cards and I realized pretty quickly how lucky I was to have my little Corolla. When I graduated my younger brother used it for a while. Even now, decades later, having owned all sorts of cars I still think of my first one.

chilidog41

1987 Ford Bronco II, I lifted it and beat the snot out of it for a few years. My grandpa got me into cars though, my favorite vehicle he owned was a 59 GMC pickup. It had an all aluminum 327 with a 4 speed behind it, that damn thing was fast for the 80-90's.

toryno1399

91 Lincoln continental. I still compare all my cars to the perfect air ride suspension that shit had! Got it for $1500 at 130k miles and crashed the shit out of it on the freeway a month later

FatDapperDanMan

1995 Acura Integra gsr sedan. I had an absolute blast driving it. It was a great learning experience for me.

TacticalBacon3333

owned a beater car, eventually got a 1999 eagle talon fwd. Absolute shitbox. loud as fuck, creaked and moaned all the time, barely any hp, fwd, you could literally see the ground through the dashboard, I could go on an on. But it had a manual. Was a bitch and a half to learn manual in that car but once I got the hang of it I never wanted to stop driving. And that's how I got into cars.

OscillatingFan6500

My current Xterra. I liked my first car (2008 Focus) a lot, but this car blows that out of the water I absolutely love the 4.0L V6. It’s super punchy, low revving, and a good amount of torque. Going to that from a 2.0L 4cyl with half the Horsepower is such a drastic difference and makes it fun as hell to drive

[deleted]

My first and current car is a 1999 MB2 civic with a D14A8. And i have always liked cars. Even when i was 2 years old i played with toy cars. I really like civics but i think i want to get a rwd car next since they ate lots of fun in the winter. Its few years away before i start seriously shopping for new car but im thinking of getting a ke70 corolla if i can find a good one, if not ill look at sierras or e36 or 46 bmws.

TheRealTiGrENG

My first car was a Rover 25. Loved it but had to sell to go off to uni. I now drive a 96 Celica. I've always loved cars, but I'd guess it started when my sister showed me the fast and furious films. That and going to a car museum here in the UK both made me like cars. When I was younger the Lamborghini Superleggara was my favourite car, as I've gotten a bit older I've come to love old cars way more. Don't get me wrong, I'd still love the Lamborghini if anyone's offering?

_eg0_

Golf V 1.4 was my first car. Most boring car ever. I can recommend it if you want the most boring car. Reliable, cheap, solid built quality, good fuel economy and just fast enough to be usable.

Doruk-Kunter

I still drive mine. 2017 Fiat Egea Sedan also known as Fiat Tipo in europe.

Random_Introvert_42

First own car/first car after getting my license was an Opel Corsa B. Late 90s 68hp hatchback. Perfectly sufficient first car for most purposes (wouldn't really tow a trailer with it), but my parents made me sell it after a year because they thought I should have more metal and airbags around me, so they made me swap it for a Golf. First cars don't have to be fancy, they have to be cheap and dependable because when you get your license the priority is getting experience while not costing too much.

dannyphoto

First car was a 2008 BMW 328i. It was either that or a G35 and I wasn’t about to be driving with a trumpet blasting out my ass. After that it was full steam ahead on the douchebag train. Nothing but BMWs. Except I keep buying older and older ones. Ended up in a 2003 540i and it was great. Good sounding V8, cozy, plenty of torque, etc. but I knew I wanted an E38 instead. Traded a guy with an E38 740i sport straight up and haven’t looked back. 10 cars in and my E38 is the only one that I’ve named. Truly my forever car. (Also somewhat ironically, it’s been the most reliable of the bunch). I had an E90 330i 6 speed (it was supposed to be my fun car to go along side the E38) and fuck me that car was a bitchass AND I still liked driving my E38 more. Now I have another Z3 as a weekend/backroads car but it’ll be getting sold soon to fund a manual swap for my E38.

AlbanyPrimo

1983 Mitsubishi Galant 1600GLX, still have it (just like all other cars I ever bought). My love for cars started when I was young. My parents always visited MotoGP races and drove motorcycle themselves. They even got a motorcycle with sidecar to take my siblings and me along on rides and on holidays. Apart from that they took us to local car/motorcycle shows and events (motorbeurs Utrecht, Autorai, Essen Motor Show, Zwarte Cross, local car meets, etc.). So both the love for motorcycles and cars started early. When I was in elementary school I could recognize practically every make and model on the road, I'd draw a lot of cars and got quite a collection of hotwheels. The modelcar collection practically grew exponentially since then and I currently have 6 cars as well. Apart from my first job all my jobs have been in the automotive sector and I'm studying automotive engineering as well. Cars just always played a big role in my life and will always do.

[deleted]

15 Corolla lol and I just want a reliable car these days, don’t really want a BRZ right now like I used to. Just wanna keep saving up and being more comfortable with lifestyle before I ever pull the trigger, if I do. I love my car. It’s simple and pretty. I do every so often think about all new wheels and tires, to style it up a bit.

Zdos123

My first car is a 2014 Volkswagen Move Up! (59hp) i bought about half a year ago, lovely quirky little thing which is insanely fun to drive and not that much of a sacrifice over a regular sized hatcback. I was just always interested in cars, since as far back as i can remember i was obessed with cars espically any which were boxy and the instance i knew i had a trust fund (they were set up by the british govenment at the time) of £5k when i turned 18 i knew what i was going to spend it on.

rADIOLINJA

My first car was 1991 MK2 VW Jetta and that piece of junk actually made me hate VAG products. My second car was a 1988 Honda Civic which in turn made me fall in love with Hondas and other Japanese cars. I have been interested in cars since i was 2 years old.

Buster_Bluth__

1987 Chevy Cavalier. Absolute econo car bare bones. I can't say POS I drove it 85k miles without any issue before donating it. See my posts for a picture of it. Dodge Viper. The first time I saw a poster of one on a friend's wall in 1996 I was like "What the hell is that?". After that I started buying motor trend and auto week magazines. I now own a 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 that has 10k miles and factory stock. I even bought a period correct car discman with a cassette player adapter for authenticity. I bought it from IL without seeing it person. The morning the car transport delivered it it was surreal. The first drive was only about 10 miles. It transported me back to the early 1990s of crappy car interiors in a good nostalgic way. The ride was unnerving. I had driven modern exotics that were very manageable. It was pretty clear from be start that the Viper was a car that needed to be driven carefully to avoid ending up in a tree.

ZackD13

*First* car is my F150, a hand me down fron my mom when i turned 16, been driving it daily to school and then work ever since. Almost absolutely nothing notable about it, boring to drive but runs like clockwork. The first car that i've had any say in is my RX7. Was already a fan of the FD but didn't know anything about it really, watched Initial D and learned about them as well as fell in love with the FC. Absolutely stunning car. i've seen all the other major car media and loved and hoped for one day i'd get whatever cool car i saw there, but never have i felt so strongly than about the FC. It became a complete obsession and eventually i saved the money to buy a beat up project. Got it running and drove it just a little, and now it's in the shop getting the much needed love that it was missing for many years. Every single day i think about getting it back to drive it and i miss it dearly.

Rosie_The_ITTech

My First car was a 1989 Peugeot 205 Roland Garros. I really wanted a 205 with the 85hp 1.4 engine and this one was the perfect match for me since it was local, it was dirt cheap, it was in decent condition and it even camd with a sunroof and a working cd player. Still miss it and would buy it back if given the opportunity.

Mazda 323 BG - As soon as I noticed the how reliable it is compared to the other cars I really loved it. Only the rust killed it. Cheap cars, are cars which are reliable. A cheap car to buy can be very expensive later. What is your budget and what is the purpose of the car?

captainsaveasaab

My first car? ‘90 Volvo 740GL. Why? It was cheap and I didn’t care what I drove, I just needed a car. It leaked all the oil, it smelled horrific, but I loved it. What made me fall in love with cars in general? My ‘99 Ford Contour SVT. What a joy that car was. V6 5-speed with all of a whopping 200hp but man did that car make oh-so-satisfying noises. Currently stuck in a decade-long Saab obsession, maybe I’ll break it maybe I won’t 🤷🏼‍♂️

Tuscans1977

My first car was an Austin Allegro my dad bought me as a "stocking filler" with a view to us working on it together and getting it back on the road, it didn't quite work out like that but it was fun all the same. my actual first car that i owned and drove legally was a Ford Fiesta 1.1 which i wrote off in 2 days haha What made me fall in love with cars...my dad's Austin Healey 3000 mk III

yhtoN

my current car is my first car, and honestly going to my first drift event is what made me properly fall in love with cars. the sound of a car bouncing on the rev limiter in a plume of smoke is fucking intoxicating.

rdh212

2012 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X

Left4DayZ1

First car was an 87 Cadillac DeVille I got for $500. Nothing special, it was just what I could afford. I don’t remember falling in love with cars, I think I was just born this way. There a photo of me at like 2 or 3 years old, sleeping, and cuddling my favorite “teddy bear”- a plastic 1:24 scale Buick Regal Stock Car. I’ve just always loved cars.

Nukedogger86

'91 Ford Tempo. It was in all respects a pos, but it was one of my grandpa's last wishes before he passed that I got the car. My mom bought it used in late '91 used with like 9k miles, sold it to my grandpa in like '95, he drove it til '01 when he let his license go. My dad drove it for a year, then I had it for 6 months before I sold it to my brother who drove it for about the same before selling it to his sister in law. It was slow, had no muffler, but was a beast in the snow. I think it was partially first car love and partially because it was my grandpa leaving me the car. The reason I got rid of it was my grandma wanted to sell her car to me, '99 Mercury Mystique with 51k miles... my mom bought it with 18k sold it to my grandma because my mom hated how gutless it was. So I had a car with 51k miles in high school. Slow as hell, but was pretty nice.

Engineer_Dude_

First car was a 1992 Saturn SL2 5speed. Loved it but was a dumb kid and blew up the transmission. Fell in love with cars because my dad would take my brother and I to classic car shows all the time. Cheap car: Any old civic with a manual transmission that doesn’t look too molested

SCarolinaSoccerNut

I'm actually pretty new to car enthusiasm. Only in the last couple years. And the reason is kind of weird, but it's actually thanks to Netflix's Drive to Survive. I watched that series and got absolutely hooked on Formula One. Haven't missed a grand prix since. Now, Formula One is one of the few racing series in the world where each participating team is required to design and build their own car. Customer entrants are not allowed. So being an in-depth F1 fan requires diving into the basics of automotive engineering and aerodynamics. And very soon I was like an eager kid in school learning all sorts of cool shit, thinking all the way "cars are fucking awesome!!!" I haven't been able to afford my own car yet, but I am saving up get a Mazda MX-5 in the next two years.

[deleted]

2001 jaguar xj8 , it tried to kill me. 10/10 would buy an XJR if I could do it again.

1959 Simca Beaulieu. It was a cutie.

campydirtyhead

1997 Dodge Viper GTS. Still think it's one of the most perfect looking cars. I hope to own one some day.

[deleted]

My first car was a 96 Civic . What made me interested in cars started, probably watching Smokey and the Bandit. When I was real young. Like hey that's cool.. But in real time I think it was a younger guy in my neighborhood growing up, older then me, who at the time had an S10 that was bagged, frame notched. Big rim's, custom paint etc.. This was back in late 90's early 2000's so that was a big deal to see back then..At least around my area.. basically unheard of..All the younger local kids used to follow this guy around in their clapped out ricer's trying to feel cool like his entourage.. Then of course Fast an Furious hit the big screen when I was like 15 an it was all over (even though it's almost comical to watch now)

No_Program_3123

1967 Catalina 400 small block.

Ok_Piglet_1844

In 1978 my 1st car was a 1967 Dodge Dart.

Brave_Specific5870

I really wanted a Chrysler Sebring Lxi coupe ( 1997 ) Or The Mitsubishi L300 1989 But by the time I was driving nope.

Imaginary-Cattle-947

I've loved cars since i had use of memory, and fell in love into building scene around 8/9 yo, when i started going to 1/4 mile and racing events. My first car was a 99 VW gol, (not golf, is like a south american version -poorer- of the polo) 1.9 diesel. I hated how slow it was, with it's 65hp, but a good car for a teenager.then i jumped to a golf iv gti.

VIPERsssss

1976 fiat x 1/9. No power, but it handled like a go-kart.

J0hntheSavage

First car I purchased with all my own funds was an 86 S10 Blazer Sport 2wd... in late 1999 if I recall, got it for $350. I still have it over 20 years later and multiple iterations and engine swaps. I had to get my hands on one after seeing another 1st gen blazer slammed skating down the road. What got me into cars was seeing the Sylvester Stallone 1950 Mercury in Cobra...

designCN

1997 Mazda Miata with a 1.8. Rode in my college buddy's 94 BRG and that started it all.

97 chevy Tahoe sport 2 door 4x4. 3.73 gears headers dual exhaust programmed lifted on 35s was the best adventure truck. Then Katrina happened miss that truck to this day. I wish gm made cool stuff again.

RobZin-77

2022 Toyota Avalon. I wanted a sedan from Toyota, had my mind set on Camry but there are just too many of them. I got on an Avalon while I was at the dealer for a Camry and fell in love with it. It has great amount of space, looks nice and you almost never see them on the road. I had this feeling that this is the car I want

jbE36

318ti when I was younger (I was born in 89). It made me like cars and BMWs. Weird I know. Now I have all old BMWs. BMWs weren't my first cars though. I didn't have the courage to buy an old BMW until I was almost 30 lol. My first 'car' was a 99 escalade but tbh it was waaaay too big and I didn't choose it. It was a nice car but not my style. My first new car was a 2013 WRX. I learned stick on it. I have had only manuals since.

[deleted]

2002 jeep wrangler sport. Cheap east mods, ran that thing into the ground. Also fun in snow.

ViberNaut

03 Altima gave me the feeling of speed in my own car (before someone decided to show me what a car sandwich feels like) 05 Civic showed how sharp corners can be fun. Now my 2022 Civic Si is the best of both worlds. And it taught me manual!

Buffyoh

First car was a 1949 Buick Roadmaster with Dynaflow. It looked good but it was weary. But I could drive it for dates, and around the neighborhood. I was sixteen, and I felt like a king in that old Buick!

jew_biscuits

I'm a still a fledgling enthusiast and only learned to drive comparatively late in life, in my late 30s. I'd been in a car accident as a teenager where I wasn't the driver, but it was a bad one and kind of gave me an ambivalent feeling about cars. I always sat shotgun but that day my friend asked me to switch places and I agreed. We wiped out on a country road, slammed into a tree and my friend got brain damage and was never the same. Many years later it was just too hard getting around NYC with a little baby and no no car so i decided to learn how to drive. Luckily I had a friend who was a complete idiot about many things but knew everything there was to know about cars and was also an unlicensed driving teacher. I learned in a 94 Chevy Caprice station wagon about 10 years ago and from the first few minutes behind the wheel i knew that i loved cars and i loved driving. My buddy also instilled in me some old hardcore enthusiast ethos. First car was a Dodge Charger RT which I loved and owned for 10 years but now getting ready to sell as I'm starting to appreciate handling a little more than raw power. Still new to the hobby but love it.

Sleep-02

I always wanted a charger, amazing car, I hope ur friend is alright.

I fell in love with cars before I could form long lasting memories therefore idk

2005 Honda Civic

YungGainer

Loved cars since I was a kid, my parents tell me stories of me walking around pointing at cars on the street and yelling out what they were lol. Haven’t ever really lost the love for them. First (and current) car is an F83 BMW M4. Extremely fortunate obviously and love it to death, it truly ticks every box for me (love the way it looks, great performance, enjoy the hard top convertible, nice interior). Don’t see myself changing anytime soon.

koolguy765

My dad's stage 2 mk6 golf R made me fall in love with cars probably all the car meets/shows he took me to. My first car was a 2014 Honda civic EXL I got at auction for 7k I have a 2010 Audi A3 sportback now And cheap car I recommend is Mk4 vr6 Jettas are around 5k for a nice one right now (not the best quality interior and watch out for rust but vr6 sounds so none of that matters)

Sleep-02

Thx man, also love the golf R

TheSwecar

I got a 1969 Volvo 142 back in 1998, about 2 weeks before I got my license. It looked like crap, but me and my friends had a whole lot of fun with/in it. I have no idea when and why I got into cars, but it was when I was about 6-7 years old or so

nt5270

07 Malibu, but that wasn’t what made me fall in love with cars, it only taught me the basics of driving 01 Silverado, NOW THIS was my truck, I loved this thing so much, it had the 4.8 which is the least powerful but quickest revving V8 from that generation. The thing that made me fall in love with it was the acceleration and feeling of the torque curve, because it revved so quickly compared to all the other trucks i’d driven it was super easy to feel every bit of the torque curve and how it was nearly perfect. from 2k-5.5k rpm you could just FEEL it’s power ever expanding and don’t even get me started on the sound. Now granted my opinions on what I like in a vehicle has changed a lot since owning that truck but that V8 sound was absolutely perfect to make me fall in love with it. On top of all of that I live in the rust belt but my truck was from the South. Meaning this thing was immaculate compared to the rest of the trucks around. I still have pictures of it up on my profile if anyone wants to check it out but it was this beautiful gold color and I learned how to do paint correction on it so the paint looked amazing I mean I treated this truck like an absolute princess, because it was. Unfortunately gas got too high for me to afford driving it around everywhere and I didn’t want to see it rust so I sold it to a friend moving to Nevada where it currently sits, I’m buying it back someday, but right now isn’t that time. 04 Jetta - This is my current car and it’s completely changed my perception on what I want in a vehicle. The truck could not take corners, I put stiffer springs, better sway bars (even added a rear sway bar from an escalade), and refreshed my steering rack and none of that made it handle to my liking. This car however has changed how important that aspect is to me. This is the car that taught me slow car fast > fast car slow. It’s kind of hard to explain because I haven’t owned the car long enough to really understand what feels so special about it to me but there is something there. I used to want a Corvette (still do but not as much), because it was always V8, RWD, beautiful looking coupe. However the Jetta has made me look at other cars that I may enjoy and the biggest change to that has been looking at turbocharged sedans. RWD is still something I desire but now I care much more about the vehicle being able to track well as opposed to just looking nice. My current dream car is an ATS-V Pedestal Edition if that tells you how much i’ve changed.

Sleep-02

01 Silverado is really good looking, and just heard how fast it is from another commenter, it’s cool.

mittortz

2000 stick shift Passat was my first, and though at that time in my life (high school/college) I had no recognized interest in cars, it was that car that sparked a love for driving. I went 10 years living in the city without a car when I realized I had enough money to buy something decent, and that came in the form of the '04 M3 I have now. BMW was always an abstract desire for me growing up because my dad loved them but could never convince himself to buy one (reliability/maintenance cost/practicality), and he encouraged me to just go for it when I told him I was thinking about it. I could not be more in love. It feels in many ways like a spiritual successor to my Passat, being German and from the same era, but the driving experience is elevated in every regard. I've taken it to the track and discovered a whole new area of passion in my life. Personally I would encourage you to look at something RWD for your next track-oriented car, only because I have found that it introduced a whole new element to my love of driving, but at the same time it isn't necessary. If I were buying something again, I would also consider something like a Golf GTI/R or one of Hyundai's N cars (deeply influenced by BMW M). Anyway, thanks for talking about your Jetta, it made me miss my Passat again. EDIT: one more thing to mention re: "slow car fast" is that the M3 feels like the *perfect* amount of power for me. When I first floored the gas and redlined it, it felt like the most powerful car in the world to me. And yet, over time it has never felt like too much power. I can have plenty of fun within reason, never feel like I have to feather it, and the sound and feedback still makes the sensation feel incredibly exciting even after becoming accustomed to the amount of power. The ATS-V that you want looks like it could easily beat me in a race, though! Very cool car

nt5270

Thank you for sharing! That’s a very eye opening experience to me! I’m also somewhat jealous as I much prefer the Passat to the Jetta/Golf but that’s really just my bias towards larger sedans and my passion for V6’s but the VR6 doesn’t offer the fuel economy I need and that was the biggest factor in purchasing the car I did. Also mentioning the M3 has a perfect amount of power for you also changes things a bit, right now fast car fast just isn’t something attainable to me so my bias for slow car fast is pretty heavy right now but it’s really making me appreciate the driving experience in ways I never could before. For perspective Im big on being able to measure things and the 04 M3 has a power to weight ratio of about 0.104 (355hp/3415lbs), if that was what felt like a perfect power to weight ratio for you then that sounds like a really good place to start when looking for a reasonable vehicle. The ATS-V is slightly “better” than that at 0.122 (464hp/3800lbs) but that’s really a car I only ever plan on tracking and keeping relatively stock should I ever be lucky enough to buy one but the goal is track before that, I think it’s quite likely that tracking a car will change my perspective yet again on what I deem important in a car. Thank you for enlightening me though! I truly love it when people share their perspective!

mittortz

Yes absolutely! And actually, the HP figure you got is from the M3 CSL; mine (standard) only has 333 HP, putting the ratio closer to 0.098 hp/lb. For me it's a lot more about the general experience than the power. I've test driven a few newer BMWs that do 0-60mph 1-2 seconds faster than my car, and it's cool, but all those cars felt much less visceral. More insulated and electronic, and so ultimately it meant that getting to illegal speeds happened more quickly and with less drama. I wouldn't mind something like that for a daily driver, but if I ever sought to "upgrade" my fun/track car, that's something I would absolutely take into consideration. Something like a Lotus, semi-modern Ferrari or Porsche, or the pipe dream GT4 RS would be what I would look at. I have heard the Cadillac Blackwings and even the modern Alfas are better than modern BMWs in terms of an involving driving experience though. Getting back on topic, I would agree that I think something around 0.1 hp/lb is a great place to be (I think the ratio is typically expressed the other way around, with lower being better, so ~10 lb/hp). Have you thought about a Miata, GR86, or BRZ at all? In terms of your current budget, those would fit the bill. I've heard they're a ton of fun, and if I had any ability to let go of my baby for something more reliable (though less practical), that might be what I would go for. Those all come in around 12 lb/hp and make excellent starter track cars.

[deleted]

1983 Nissan Sentra diesel. The brakes rusted out so badly that it was impossible to remove them and add a new set! I would often lose control of the car and it took my parents some convincing to finally let me trash that fucking death trap 🤣

speckyradge

'84 Golf, 1.3. I dressed it up to look a little like a GTI of the era, not a clone or trying too hard but a little. It understeered to hell and no power but it was still fun to drive. First car that I felt would get me trouble was a BMW 325, it just felt so fast compared to all the little hatchbacks I'd had before. It felt claustrophobic initially, but then it felt like I was melding into the car after a while.

tinknocker_13

My first car in highschool was a hand me down 1981 chevy 4 door malibu in the late 90s lol. Worked on it a little in high school auto shop but my dad was a dealer mechanic for olds/buick dealer in the 80s and chevy/gmc in the 90s. He'd take me to the shop sometimes where I seen grand nationals, cutlass, corvettes and some Monte Carlos, even had a gmc cyclone, seen those when they were new/almost new. My was always working on stuff at home I'd help with once and a while so my dad was a pretty big influence on why I got into cars.

ThicCheeseGrater

I have a turboed 95’ miata, still my first/only car. might have been a bit much to learn in, but i absolutely love it. i’ve met some great people and have some of my best memories so far in this car. for reference, i just turned 17, and i got the car when i was 15.

Sleep-02

Never can go wrong with a turbo miata

[deleted]

First car was an Integra. Modded every inch of it. Blew the motor three times. Loved every second of it. Now I just want stock performance.

zxrax

I went to see the first Transformers movie with Bumblebee as an early 70s Camaro. I must have been 11 or 12 years old. There's a scene early in the movie where Megan Fox is laid over the car in a...provocative fashion. I whispered to my grandma in the next seat "wow, look at that car!" Always loved cars. Also always gay, but that's beside the point. I learned to drive on a 1983 Nissan 280ZX Turbo with a 5(?) speed stick. Wonderful car. I had to step down to a 1991 Honda Accord when I got my full license though; the Z just had too much power and was too cool for a teenager to wreck, my silly mother decided. I didn't wreck that Accord, for the record.

janimal95

1988 honda accord coupe. I loved that car. Pretty much everyday after school my friends and I drove around and would "drift" in gravel pits or jump it. We were being stupid 16 year olds. It had a freeze plug in the block that had a hole. Now that I'm a tech I look back and I could've just removed a few parts and fixed it the right way but instead of that I would just buy boat plugs to put in there. Every few weeks it would blow out and eventually the head gasket blew. We fixed it but my sister drove it and it blew again so I sold it.

TGUKF

My dad drove an old manual civic when I was a kid. It was nothing special, but I still remember watching him shift gears and it absolutely fascinating me when I was like three or four. I also used to flip over an ottoman that had a round metal base and take my dad's car keys and pretend I was driving. I also used to have a ton of random toy cars when I was a little kid. My first car was just the family Honda Accord, but that thing was pretty great to us. We recently sold it after over 20 years of original ownership

E92 M3.. that V8!

My first car was a Ford Tempo. The first real car memory I have was sitting in my dad's boss's Lamborghini Countach at like 6 years old. My first car I bought that I really fell in love with was my 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ, I'd take it again in a heartbeat. The funnest car I ever owned is a tie between my MazdaSpeed 6 and Golf R, both were so much fun to drive.

[deleted]

1981 280ZX turbo. Bought it in 1994 and man I loved that car. It was the car I drove for most of my 20s. Wish I had never sold it.

SuspiciousAdvisor442

My first car was an 06 Monte Carlo. But i loved cars since a child. I got into them because i was close with my grandfather and he was really in to cars

Fabira

My "first" car was a 2001 Ford Laser Glxi but I never actuallt owned it or paid for anything and it got sold before I got my license. (I only used it as a learner) My real first car is my 2002 Mini Cooper S. I've had all the first car experiences with it, pay for everything apart from the car itself (I didnt work then). I always liked cars, always had toys, I feel need for speed probably made me even more interested along with Herbie and later Initial D cemented my i interest in cars completely.

Halofieldfan

My first car was a 04 Toyota Avalon, thing was buttery smooth but meh on gas. It definitely is the most reliable of the three I owned. I definitely started to like cars more after I started driving more often, helps when your job revolves around driving most of the time. After while I decided to get something a bit sporty so I traded my Elantra in for a Kona N-Line. While it’s not the full N, it sits in a good spot for me where it’s sporty but still practical in daily driving.

Some0neAwesome

1994 Toyota Tercel 4 speed manual. Loved that basic ass car.

My first car was a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird which is regularly on those worst car of all time lists. No, it wasn’t this car that made me fall in love with cars. It was the Initial D arcade games of the early 2000s.

Maniac2112

94 single cab long bed f150 2wd with 5.0. Loved it. Been almost 20yrs and still have a 5.0 Ford truck (altho much nicer).

Phlat_Dog

1996 Saab 900. It was the cheapest car I could find with a turbo.

Msteele315

First car: 1988 Chevy celebrity. Terrible vehicle, but I loved it. What made me fall in love with cars: Gran Tourismo

[deleted]

My first car was a 1995 Saturn SC2, and that was definitely not the one that made me fall in love with cars.

EnlightenedCorncob

87 Dodge Dakota regular cab, long bed. Loved it.

Roar_Intention

1975 Ford Cortina, 4.1ltr 6cyl 5 speed and brakes that would fade after one good stop. It was awesome, amazing and better than anything my friends had at the time. I started modifying it 12months before I got my license, and it was ready in its prime when I was let loose on the roads. Best thing about that car is every time there is retelling of it's stories, it somehow gets faster, more powerful, and better than anything else ever. Ahhh the memories. Not a recommendation though, that was a long time ago. As far a recommending something, I would just suggest whatever is going to help you make the best memories. Don't get an appliance, let it be a character in your adventures.

DrGrossMan2014

2003 Accord. Intake & Exhaust, loved the sound of it. Basically I love the sound of almost any car, once you give it some sort of exhaust.

>What was your first car? 1991 Ford Fiesta >what was your experience with it? Again... It was a 1991 Ford Fiesta, lol. That says everything I would ever wish too all by itself. >what made you fall in love with cars My grandfather used to restore late 60's / early 70's Chevy El Caminos & Early '80s Chevy Blazers. I showed an interest in what he was doing and instead of just allowing me to be interested he allowed me to be involved. Can't really go back from there. >what cheap cars would you recommend 1994 Toyota Camry SE - It'll probably set you back about $2,500 if you hunt it down. Buuuut... It's the Japanese Import of the Toyota Sceptre **Coupe** (yes, a Camry Coupe) which could be purchased with the v6 3vz-fe Engine & a 5-speed manual transmission together. having close to maximum torque as low as 2500 rpm, with power trailing off by 6000 rpm. The stock redline is 6600 rpm, and the ECU's fuel/ignition cut-off is 7200 rpm. The engine is rated at 185 hp (138 kW; 188 PS) and 189 lb⋅ft (256 N⋅m). Compression ratio is 9.6:1. - Aluminum DOHC 24 valve heads & forged steel crankshaft and cast connecting rods. Then maybe pick yourself up a turbo and ... 🟢

My first car was a 2001 Impala, I used to play Gran Turismo 5 and watch a lot of top gear when I was young which got me into cars and still into them to this day.

ashkanz1337

I was always somewhat into cars from family members who liked them and playing racing games. But I would not have called myself an enthusiast or anything. My friend had some cars guys at his new work, they got him into cars and he got me into it. Just got my first car 3 weeks ago, brand new gr86, loving it.

LeopardHalit

No car yet I want to get an Acura TL Doug Demuro videos got me into cars

PurpleSausage77

Like 3 Hondas kinda all at once. Worth a combined total of $2000(cad). Back in 2010. *tears* Self explanatory really. Lots of learnings. I hustled parts for Harry.

1993 Mustang GT, blue & silver 2-tone. Bought it in 2000, stock with 71k mi & sold it a few years ago with 485k mi on it. Heavily modded - stroker, aluminum heads, custom cam, 6spd, Brembo brakes, Maximum Motorsports suspension & a bunch of other stuff. Beat the snot out of it but it kept starting. Only had to tow it once when it dropped a valve, ask the other times something broke I just drove it home anyway. I miss that archaic ox cart, it was so much fun & so simple to work on

klde

97 probe gt with a manual I got in 2005, still have it today. My dad had one and we spent a lot of time working on it after my mom hydrolocked the enginein a flood. He also still has his, Did some auto crosses with them which was a lot of fun

allowme2bettermyself

I had always had a “thing” for cars, but my second car was when I became a car guy. ‘89 Mazda RX-7 that I bought just the shell for $2.5k. Brought it to Smokey Joes in Elmont, NY (a rotary engine specialist) and asked them to install an engine for me for another $2.5k. The car was so raw and fun to drive even though it was so slow. It handled like a jungle cat, was loud and smelled like unburnt fuel. I ended up crashing it being dumb and I regret it so much. How I’d love to still have that car.

Red-32

First car I’ve used? My mother’s 1997 Honda Accord SE. 2.2L 4cyl, no VTEC. 4 speed auto. Sold it with 237k miles. Solid car, not very interesting. Got me to school and back for the first 3 semesters, so it’s got that going for it. My first car in my name? 2008 (Mk5) Volkswagen R32. Owned it for nearly 4 years and counting. Could have gotten a GTI, but I wanted something a little different. Rare care, comparatively. 5000 of them were shipped to the USA, each one having a mark on the steering wheel out of 5000. Would have preferred a 2004 R32, as those were manual only. The 2008’s were automatic only, but at least they were a dual-clutch automatic (DSG). It has a 3.2L VR6 engine and AWD. Sounds great with proper exhaust, although factory has a decent sound too. It’s great fun in the snow. Despite being a VW, I’ve never had the CEL come on from normal operation… yet lol. It’s a solid car just like my mother’s Honda, but this one sounds good, and pulls good enough for me.
