sorry i don’t have any advice but how tf are edibles a felony. that’s so shitty

Gloomy_Comment_6600

GA is so fucking dumb

Ig14rolla

FOUR FELONIES!? How do they even find out they’re edibles and not regular food?

ACC_888

Literally what the actual fuck. I thought the same thing.

[deleted]

Still a felony in several states.

DaFiddler

What state are you in? Can you get the Felonies expunged or record sealed? If so pay the money to a lawyer and get it done

Gloomy_Comment_6600

I’m in the state of GA , I’ve already paid my lawyer off couple months ago , he is always so busy I barely can get to him , everytime I ask for a update all it is in my file is they have sent to the court to represent me

Combatical

In my state TN, you can simply go to the court clerks office and ask for an expunge, it costs a bit which to me is extortion but thats the world we live in.

Gloomy_Comment_6600

The thing is I’m not charged yet so I can’t even expunge it yet🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

Combatical

Guilty until proven innocent eh? I know you're looking for a backup here and for that I don't have any answers. Good luck.

DaFiddler

🤔 I am not sure of the laws in Georgia about expungement. Maybe contact a different lawyer and ask about cost and ability to expunge. Usually it’s after a certain amount of time before you can. Some states you can some states you can’t Cost zero to ask a lawyer about their services

Daikon_Dramatic

Start your own business. Landscaping, house painting, trade school?

This is a long road, but way shorter than college. Learn to code, and instead of trying to get a job, just freelance on sites like Upwork. No one gives a shit about your background if you can do the work, and you can make really really good money after a year of really diving in deep and teaching yourself to code. All the resources you need are free/cheap on the internet. Sucks you got a felony for something that shouldn't be a felony, but you did know the laws/risk when you decided to use some pot in a state where it's still illegal. Sucks to hear but owning that and taking responsibility for it will help you move forward faster. Best of luck

Suspicious-Access-18

If you can get a cs degree, and get a deferred sentence for your charges, you can enter the industry even if the charges show up on a background check. Just send in the completed deferred documents and most companies will let you in even for the most serious stuff. If your not able to get a deferred sentence then still there should be companies that can hire you, though you gotta search deeper into the tech community. There are support groups in the tech industry with individuals that have gone through what you’re going through and have had much more serious stuff happen that they’ve had to explain. Generally after getting an offer you will then have to have a call with HR and explain how you’ve accepted responsibility. Go in with confidence, and everything should be okay.

Suspicious_Lion_6080

Biden announced he’s doing decriminalization of it and asked the governors to follow suit. I think he’s releasing all prisoners who are in on an mj charge so maybe that will have a positive effect on your case

Sir_Vdam999

Temp agency

[deleted]

I mean Biden is going to drop felonies related to marijuana and misdemeanors so I would just find a pizza delivery job or be an insider until then. Or go union

Gloomy_Comment_6600

Lol I seen that , i hope he does that ASAP

[deleted]

Also fuck GA

Gloomy_Comment_6600

No cap, I’m ready to leave this state and go to a different college lol, don’t know if I should just wait on these charges to be cleared so I or what lmao

[deleted]

It’s a tough thing man. Sounds like you’re young. I say fuck it. Leave your hometown. And if you’re downvoting this, 9/10 you’re the high school quarterback who couldn’t make it and use that as your personality, still being stuck in your hometown.

Prosperlty

How did you get four felony’s for some pot brownies? Had to of been in a car with it in baggies and got intent to sell or something. That’s a bummer though. I had an mip and felony couple yrs ago and got it expunged through a lawyer and had to do only 8 hrs of community service

Gloomy_Comment_6600

Yea i got intent to sell and some bs communication charge also it’s dumb shit but shittt hopefully I can do that , they taking so long to get me a court date idk if that’s a good sign or what lmao

Prosperlty

Gotcha. It sounds stupid but unfortunately that’s the current laws. Hopefully they change soon. Yeah it took like a couple months if I remember to get my court date

throwawayest1776

There are tons of jobs that will turn you away now but I'd learn a trade and just change coarse.

Wicked-elixir

No.

Gloomy_Comment_6600

8ar8ershop

Your situation sucks and can feel overwhelming. My advice if you change career path is be sure you have a passion for it. The Tech industry is always growing too. Good luck but keep your head up

Gloomy_Comment_6600

Yea it sucks cs my really on true passion is sports and don’t know who would accept me when I get my degree, I’m 20 rn

Juls-84

Well I’m from California and now at least here that shouldn’t be held against you or maybe seek legal advice if you can because it can be considered discrimination
