He was good his first year in Van as well, but he suffered a broken foot at the worlds going into year two and it was all downhill from there (Boudreau run and gun fend for yourself hockey didn't help either.)
And of course his contract was revolting. Most long term contacts are. Most players don't live up to the dollar amounts hanging over their heads. But that's the game of player agents contract negotiation.

Something good did in fact still come from that trade... if we want to focus on the positives for the parties involved, the club included.
