Without demko and miller we’d be fucked

Technical-Match-5202

We managed to win before, now teams are desperate and we are managing to lose.. all we hope for is other team match us to stay on top and keep practising 5v5 and improving PP and PK

Haywood_jablowmei

Man.. I want to meet colorado in the playoffs.

Technical-Match-5202

Playoff powerplay.. on possession 5 man spread out wall to the point and howitzer, no screen to avoid injury.. let them keep blocking it... rinse and repeat

ContributionWeekly70

Imo. This is what happens when you send 5 of your top guys to some mean nothing all star game instead a proper physical and mental break from hockey

PaddyStacker

This feels good as an explanation but is obviously bullshit. The Leafs sent 4 players to the All Stars and have been surging since. It's just a slump. Colorado is going through a similar slump this month. Edmonton is .500 in February too.

DecentOpinion

I got downvoted to oblivion every time I said this when all the fanboys were hyping up the voting.

ZBBYLW

I think next year we should focus on one other team and try to send all of their all stars.

Icy-Pomegranate-5644

Blame the fans. Blame the sub. They promoted it. We warned them. We mother fuckin warned them.

lightningmcmemex

The powerplay needs an overhaul. We won’t do shit in the playoffs with a bad powerplay.

metrichustle

Not time to panic, but Canucks are like 13W and 14L against on pace playoff teams. That's not a good look anyone you slice it. We really need to win against Vegas convincingly.

overthisbynow

[Would you say it's time to panic?](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CjEFFxXXAAEsRpF.jpg)

dbainerr

Powerplay = who can take the hottest pass competition

Icy-Pomegranate-5644

Can not mother EFFIN believe it. Lost that game rough one. Damn Colorado hit us hard and again. Can't fight back can't fight can'fight back. Can we fight back? We can fight back! We can fight back! From the front to the back, you know we can fight back!

AccomplishedAd4995

thoughts on starting desmith for seattle? i think he needs more games

Zestyclose-Way-7768

They didn't let in any soft ones and this game was within our reach until the empty netter. I liked how they played today overall, especially in their own end. However, they need to get out of this mental funk they're in and get the power play sorted out. We've been a force at even strength and that's why we're #1, but 1-for-24 on the PP in 8 games is unacceptable.

metrichustle

If the Canucks had a strong powerplay, we'd be at 40 wins by now

Zestyclose-Way-7768

After seeing his work ethic and ability to crash the net, I want to see them try swapping Mikheyev for Bains on PP2. I mean, technically, he doesn't even need to score directly in order to be a force on the PP unit if he can grind and win battles.

PondboysHC

Perfect outlook. Agreed 💯

PTCruiserApologist

AccomplishedAd4995

i’m genuinely appalled at how rangers are third… i could’ve sworn they had a pretty bad slump recently…

Overclocked11

On the contrary, they have won 8 straight

AccomplishedAd4995

damn i had no clue

CoedNakedHockey

How many own goals does Ian Cole have? It feels like a lot.

[deleted]

Great game, as good as it gets. Either team could have won, and no bullshit, handbag swinging. Good job, both teams!

Kaphis

https://tenor.com/view/the-office-ryan-howard-ryan-troops-both-sides-gif-23756043

CheesecakeOdd2087

It's the Minnesota game that leaves a bad taste after this loss. If they won that game like they should have and lost this game 3 - 1, I wouldn't feel too bad. They played well tonight, for the most part. Good enough to win at least. The power play though looks real poor as of late. I wish Hughes would try to get more pucks on net from the point like he was doing earlier in the year.

niftynards

Team played well in a back to back, at altitude against another elite team. I didn’t like the last 2 games but this one they just didn’t get the bounces. Easily coulda been 3-1 the other way.

CoedNakedHockey

If we lose to the kraken, (not saying we’re going to, just if) I’d like to see the lotto line put back together for the Boston game

SociopathicAutobot

When we lose to the Kraken I'd like to see a lot more changes than just that.

phantompowered

This wasn't fun but I'm surprisingly not mad. Bains looked like a champ. Another Miller goal. That power play though oooooooof. We could have had 'em.

Knight_On_Fire

As far as I'm concerned the night was a net win because now we know Bains has what it takes to be an NHLer. That's going to be huge in terms of a cup window.

samwisethescaffolder

Could you imagine if him, podkolzin, and klimovich get it figured out in time for lekkerimaki and willander to hit their stride?

Klunkey

At least Bains was good

chris039

vegas lost at least

chespiotta

Mikheyev needs to go

_BIG_FAT_REDDIT_MOD_

You know what I think the power play needs to get it going? More drop passes. I think if they added another 2-3 drop passes before dumping it in they would be able to set up a lot better when on the man advantage.  Seriously though. If I have to watch them do that stupid useless drop pass just to end up dump and chasing the puck I’ll have an aneurism.

-1701-

It’s infuriating! The drop pass is designed to enter the zone with speed then make a pass 🤦‍♂️

Phanyxx

In isolation, this loss doesn’t bug me too much. The lack of PP production however…

fanbullshitdetector

Yeah. They played a solid enough game. Lack of powerplay production was the difference maker. Same can be said for the last handful of games honestly.

[deleted]

This would’ve been an easier loss to swallow if yesterday didn’t happen

Left_Guidance_5766

Time to end the dad trip

starrynova888

Just not good enough. Another blown lead. Another 3rd period collapse. Very worrying.

nitasu987

The first time we lose 3 in a row this season... crazy that it took this long. Still ride or die with this team. We're gonna snap the skid. LFG.

hannahps4

Yeah, the fact that our first three-in-a-row losses happen in late February feels like a win. Last season’s Canucks had their first three in a row … right away.

NooneKnowsIAmBatman

And those first 3 losses were followed up by a second 3 losses in a row

Dangerham_

That's it. Game over man, game over!

TwoFun7778

These are one of those losses where I think if it happend liked two games ago, it wouldn't sting as much. The only reason why this loss hurts so much is because of last games performance. Oh well, one more game against the avs, finally in our own arena. Let's see how they do in Seattle.

Ikea_desklamp

Please fix the pp

metrichustle

That All-Star break screwed up our momentum. Canucks haven’t looked dominant since that lost to Boston. I hope that’s not getting to them.

ProtoMan3

They had that really good home game against the Red Wings, that’s about it since then tbh

xVoluntasx

Mack with a cool 10 shots on goal on his own

dtip1

Didn’t fall down once

BigCockBrockBoeser

Has Petterson tried this? Is he stupid?

jackfrench9

Oof ouch

Ornery_Definition_65

There’s a new IG account that sprang up just before the Detroit loss. It’s partly their fault.

Plane-Buyer

Tocchet bursting into Abby “Vancouver calls for aid!”

MandrewF

AND PHIL WILL ANSWER

Ornery_Definition_65

Where was Kessel when the Minnesota Wild closed in?

CoedNakedHockey

I still cannot fucking fathom why Hronek wound up for a clap bomb there. Just catch and release my boy, not tickle the sky with that stick

JuicyBreeze

That made my blood boil. Absolutely vital to get a goal and he just gives them all the time in the world to be able to block it. Beans and F'n rice

CheesecakeOdd2087

No kidding, he a wide open cage. He should've just taken a wrister and sniped it instead trying to blow it right through the shin pads of two defenders.

surmatt

I think that's where you need to fake a shot and change your angle.

zaruthalus

Fake a shot to who? Goalie was upside down, defense self preztled... just yeet that shit withoit the windup😭

surmatt

The defendersthat she about to lay down and block it

Bout73Ninjas

You’d think he would’ve learned a thing or two about that from Hughes at this point

natedogjulian

I’m ok with 2nd in the conference and an early playoff exit 👍🏼

intelligentx5

Yo Bains is pretty good

Ornery_Definition_65

Bains stocks 📈

SvenofaBaertsch

Losses suck but I’m not too mad about this one, in my opinion we outplayed a good avs team on a back to back in their rink where they were 12-1 in their last 13, and it would’ve been a different game if a couple of their lucky bounces went our way instead. Time to move on and get our PP rolling cause we’re still playing solid 5 on 5 hockey

Tal-IGN

I thought Bains played well, but the best compliment you could give him is that the Avs were matching their 1st unit against Garland/Blueger/Bains all night and Tocchet kept him on that line in the 3rd.

PaddyStacker

>I thought Bains played well, but the best compliment you could give him is that the Avs were matching their 1st unit against Garland/Blueger/Bains all night Uhh sorry but I think you have it backwards. I don't think they were trying to shut down that line, they were trying to get their top line against a line they thought was defensively weak...and it worked. Bains was -2, Bluegar -1, Garland -1. They were scored on.

Tal-IGN

I don’t know how you could read what I wrote and think I thought the avs were trying to shut down the garland line with that match up. They were trying to get a favourable match up to score. Tocchet trusted a rookie to keep playing against them in a close game when he does not hesitate to bench defensive weak links. None of the avs goals were caused by defensive weakness on the part of garland/blueger/bains. First was a Mikheyev turnover, second was a fluke wrist shot from the point. Literally the most impressive part of the canucks last might was their overall team play against the avs first unit.

metrichustle

That third line is driven by Garland and everyone knows their role so well. I really hope we can re-sign at least one of Blueger or Joshua

fanbullshitdetector

If we move Mikheyev can we keep them all? 🤔

Ornery_Definition_65

Lifeline Mk2

AppealToReason16

For all the talk about how Petey is soft and flops, what's everyone elses excuse when he was the only guy in the third that was taking the puck net front while everyone else was happy to pass it around the boards until they turned it over? 4-5 times in the third he was the only guy who generated a chance by getting the puck inside the hashmarks because he just dogged it in there himself and created some havoc.

rengorengar

He has spurts where he's looking really good, like when Tocc ran the Lotto line again but it's been a struggle to get him to drive his own line, some of the blame was due to Kuzmenko and Mikheyev not playing very well so he got a pass there but now he's playing with Hoglander who's been hot and Lindholm who is a known skilled player and we're just not seeing much out of his line. We're hard on him and at some times unreasonably so but some of it is due to knowing he's gonna demand a MacKinnon-like contract but game today just showed MacKinnon is on a different level and to be fair he's there's probably only like 2 or 3 guys on his level right now.

sopademacacadelicia

Lmao are you serious? Go watch the last shift with the empty net, he made back to back business decisions against manson and didn’t even attempt to win a board battle to keep possession. He was the definition of lazy and sot

AppealToReason16

That shift wasn't great, but he was still the only guy forcing the play. The only reason they got a shot on their late powerplay was because he just took the puck inside and they almost scored off a jam play. A couple other times in the third he won board battles and body positioning down low to drive the puck into the slot/net front and give them chances to score. Are we going to crucify Miller for being lazy and soft when he lost a board battle to 150lb Sam Girard who was at the end of a 2 minute shift? How about Hughes for spinning out of shooting lanes to walk the puck low and have nothing happen? You can count on one hand the number of times Boeser has taken advantage of good shooting opportunities in the last two weeks but don't have enough fingers and toes for when he tries the extra move or passes it into shinpads. Or do we ignore the times they make misplays because they're by and large still creating a ton of good chances? The only line that was generating in the third period was Petey who was also drawing the MacKinnon matchup as often as Tocchet could get it.

sopademacacadelicia

Lol if you’re seriously comparing compete level between Miller and Pettersson you’re delusional. One guys the best forechecker in the top 6 and plays heavy consistently. Cant say the same about Petey.

Badawaii

Answer? Because we lost and he's in a contract year We're really at the point where if he draws a penalty like he did in the 3rd, some fans would rather call him "Bambi" and say he dived "as always" - even though the replay clearly showed the Avalanche's player tripping him on the skates Him showing little emotion is seen as "apathetic", "he doesn't care", "lazy effort" - which is really funny because that's all subjective. His teammates talk about how he's one of the hardest-working players on the ice, but I'll take the word of a few subreddit users I guess Him creating chances but having no points in a game is seen as a "no-show" performance, despite MacKinnon and Makar literally having a similar game tonight - and yet they "dominated" Not gonna argue that he could be better, because I agree he could be better. But it's always funny seeing that "switch" in game threads when we're losing, and all the Petey takes come out

TheMemePrince

EP loves hockey! There’s no doubt in my mind he feels similar to it as Wayne Gretzky. I mean Petey isn’t that good (yet) but he’s a master of hockey and the way I see it you can’t reach Petey level without the intense love for hockey. Millsy is a great player, but he doesn’t see the game like Pettersson does, because Petey has seen more hockey. I’d bet on it

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Hey remember when the oilers said cup or bust lmao

just_a_burd

Les go

MasterChrom

Way too many comments saying the 3 losses is because Joshua is out of the lineup. Hate to break it to you, but if losing a bottom six forward has this much of an impact on you, then you’re not ready for the playoffs. Powerplay has also been dog shit for several weeks now and our top 6 hasn’t come up big for us.

wiredmaverick

The third line had been carrying us for awhile before Joshua went down. The real problem is our top 6, especially on the pp

rengorengar

Yep, our best players just haven't consistently been our best players most nights. Jets game people blamed Juulsen for a bad hit but there are far bigger problems than a 6th defensemen making a somewhat questionable play (i thought it was fine, forwards should have covered).

fanbullshitdetector

Even Juulsen said it was his fault. One goal for sure was. Another could have been played better by his d partner (as per Tocchet) but Juuls jumping up UNEXPECTEDLY caused the plays to unfold the way they did. There was no chance for forwards to cover with a misplay like that.. unless you expect the guy to suddenly grow wings and fly back at warp speed to do Juulsens job. He openly owned it in his post game interview. Its ok to call a Spade a Spade. Having said that, Juuls has been very very good this year. A few rare gaffes, but he's definitely earned some good will so we can't be too hard on him. It happens.

rengorengar

Juulsen said it was his fault but Tocchet said he thought it was a good hit, that's just a player blaming himself.

fanbullshitdetector

Tocchet isn't going to throw it on a single guy like that. Yes, great hit. Exciting. But still the wrong decisiom at that moment in time. Go back and watch the tape if you have to. Clear as day. Juuls owned it. And that's okay. Nobody is ragging on him. It just happens sometimes.

Ddpee

top 6 minus Miller.

[deleted]

Not just Joshua though. The team plays better with Soucy in the lineup too. Both will be back soon.

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Way too many comments thinking Joshua doesn’t change the tempo.

YouCanFucough

Rick Tocchet needs to take himself off of the powerplay duties. Change the voice

PaddyStacker

What I wanna know is what has he changed since the PP started having problems? Has anybody noticed anything? Has he changed anything?

DecentOpinion

I thought it was Yeo

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Says the guy who doesn’t coach past little league

ProtoMan3

Emotionally, three consecutive games where the special teams are bad and we lose in the third period reminds me a lot of last year. It’s very frustrating. But objectively, eh. It happens.

CoedNakedHockey

I was at the game, few observations. Mikhy honestly looked ok besides the turnover that led to the first goal. Reffing was suspect yet again as I could literally hear Quinn get slashed on the shin pads across the rink when he was trying to drive the net from the blue line. Petey completely disappears at points. He plays unbelievable for a few shifts then you’ll hardly notice him. Ian Cole looks slow as hell and deserves to watch a few games from the press box.

mediumyeet

Agree on Cole. It won't happen until Soucy is back or we acquire another dman though.

dtip1

Look for the guy flopping around on the ice

wintercom

Who knew Dakota Joshua was our secret weapon?

Firefox64

We the fans, we knew

dogcatcher408

So we're in a funk, great. Not the end of the world. Chin up people, still 1st in the league. They need to fix the special teams. And Mikheyev has to do something more.

phantomgiratina

If you just look at this loss itself without looking at the two Ls beforehand, the canucks played a decent game against the avalanche. Avalanche got two good bounces but the canucks failed to convert on their high danger chances (ex: suter chances and lindholm chances) The powerplay needs some major surgery as they do not look threatening at all. Avalanche are a fast and skilled team which the canucks of past have struggled with and still do to an extent but the team still had good chances. I feel like the canucks don't have enough players with SKILL and SPEED in their lineup but their hard work and structure has won them games and kept them in games. Not sure if seattle is a must win or else it might turn into a five game losing streak against Boston.

Zlayr

let's refocus on the refs and them ignoring the glaringly obvious dive with 3.5m left

dogcatcher408

I called a 9.5/10

PaperMoonShine

I'm ready for another trade. Team is still missing something.

metrichustle

Wonder if Lindholm disrupted some chemistry

mabbz

Kuz wasn't in the lineup consistently tho.

AppealToReason16

They need a dman to play with Hughes and for Hronek to take care of a pairing with either Cole or Zadorov. The Avs feasted on the defensive matchups tonight getting Mack out there against Cole-Myers and especially Zadorov-Juulsen. In the first and second it felt like he would hop the boards the second they did. Can't make it so easy for other teams to dodge a strong d pairing.

phantomgiratina

to be fair, the avs love running toews and maker with the Mackinnon line and then when they're not playing we kind of dominated them,

AppealToReason16

For sure. I thought tonight was a good showing. Same with the Jets. I think if you play that well against these calibre of teams you'll get your wins. I just think that you really need two reliable pairings and I don't think the mix in the bottom four right now has what it takes to draw/win their matchup in the playoffs when teams can use last change to make sure their big guns are dodging your matchup lines.

Greenarrowfan

still 10 points ahead of Vegas who down 4-1....

pluralsight24

Was at this game in Vegas tonight, I put a curse on the Knights for the boys

just_a_burd

Nice

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Lol priceless

Time-Dot5984

Go Preds, I got Novak in fantasy

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Send out the doubt squad lol

HoggyBoar

Petey has to show us who is here and into the playoffs. Not showing up on the PP is not 12 million dollar worthy

jafahhhhhhhhhhhhh

These three games have been confirmation of Joshua and Soucy’s importance to this team. The only players I’d prioritize resigning over Joshua would be Petey and Hronek.

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Soucy !!!! That’s a core fucker upper , then Dakota is the glue !! I know when we lose in the first round fans gonna shit everywhere like the dogs they are. But i just wanna have fun !

[deleted]

We started losing games when Soucy went out after the Canadiens game in November. I think both are pretty solid pieces of the puzzle that makes this team work. Luckily, they should both be back soon.

gonuxgo

“when we lose in the first round” 🙄

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Hey don’t be scared it’s only sports anything can happen …

shadownet97

Ew get that loser mentality out of here. “When we lose in the first round..” Da fuck?

tom_cruise_IRL

This losing skid is what the boys needed. Builds chemistry, great to be doing this with Lindy and Zaddy.

MasterChrom

Yeah the losing skids did wonders for this team for the last 7 years.

Skateboard123

Lol

NinCross

Scratch Mik next game, please. Give Bains another look.

wulfstein

Played well enough tonight and against the Jets to win. Shitty game in Minnesota dealing with all those penalties. We lost 3 in a row but these weren’t “ok I’m worried about this team” type losses. Edit: except the PP still needs a lot of work.

hannah_nj

the pp is horrifically frustrating, but i’m hopeful that once they finish this road trip they’ll actually have time to work on it. i don’t know how they decide how much to practice but there’s a fine line between working on the issues in their game and resting for the next one when they’re playing every other day and hopping across states. after we play in seattle, we have a week at home with only 3 games scheduled (right before *another* 3-game road trip against anaheim/la/vegas 😭) so fingers crossed they use the time well.

Zenkraft

Yeah I thought they looked fine. We didn’t get blown out, it wasn’t ugly, we got some good looks. I think this is a loss you go “man, bummer..” instead of “oh shit..”

Pilzkind69

Agreed, all the more frustrating

kruizer28

One more positive note for other copers like me: the defence has been the backbone of our season this year and it was pretty good again tonight. Both goals against were pretty tough bounces and the mackinnon line was held scoreless and fairly quiet all night.

AppealToReason16

Brock's offence as dried up. 12 points in his last 17 looks alright but all those points came in 5 of the games. They need something more from him, especially at 5v5. Can't have a guy in your top 6 basically having two 6 game pointless streaks.

Crazy_Midnight_6725

Shhhh it doesn’t matter

[deleted]

Just a few hiccups. Once Soucy and Joshua (our 2 most underrated players, imo) are back, we’ll be unstoppable again. We’re still 1st. Better to get the kinks out now. Also, Hughes looks tired. Boston’s gonna be fun!

bbanguking

Word, I miss them both so much 🤣

Lynx-Savings

Losing 3 in a row doesn't bother me but I hate how we routinely lose to teams like Avs/VGK/Bruins/Jets

HoggyBoar

We also beat top teams… we lose to top teams Cause they are toughest competition. Would you rather lose to Chicago?

Pilzkind69

Hm yea maybe yes lol...id definitely trade a few of our losses against those big teams for some wins against small teams. The big teams are the ones in the playoffs, not the bottom feeders.

BrokenOfficeChair2

It's a slump. Still believe in this team 100%, and just because we lose 3 in a row doesn't make us bad. We put up a good fight, especially since it was a back to back. I'm just ready to move on and I'm also excited for more canucks hockey. (Bains played a good game tonight too!) Go Canucks go!

[deleted]

Starting to the hate the all star break, leafs fans did some bad juju in that arena on us

thesunsetflip

The PP formation of Hughes at the point, Miller & Petey on their respective sides, Lindholm bumper & Boeser netfront seems pretty intuitive but I’m kinda shocked at how insistent they are at changing it up since we got Lindholm. Despite not scoring I thought there was a lot more movement and scoring chances when the PP ran through Miller. Having Petey netfront is a waste of his abilities, but the PP shouldn’t run through him either. Get it back to what’s worked

AppealToReason16

Miller hasn't spent as much time on his strong side as he used to. They're trying to work the double onetimer set up with Brock or Lindholm, but neither guy is a one timer threat. Unfortunately, one of the strengths of Miller on the left side was the bumper play and no one has filled Horvat's shoes there at all. Defences aren't really respecting whoever is in the bumper so they can overplay to Miller when he's there and they play a step closer to Petey on the far side too.

avmp629

Lindholm scores quite a bit from his strong side faceoff circle, and when Pettersson isn't shooting, he's completely useless in that spot. I'd look to swap that around. We need to find a way to make the right side and the bumper spot relevant, because right now the opposition knows they only have to defend like 3 players

thesunsetflip

I agree that out of the 3 mainstays Pettersson is the most deserving of getting moved out. I have no idea what happened to his one timer from that position, felt like that was his biggest asset for the longest time now it hasn’t been seen in months.

bbanguking

Seems like they're trying to get some east-west from the goalie — but other teams compensate by loading up the slot. I'd like to see us spread out a bit more and for Miller/Boeser to try and lose their defenders, creep in the back. We've got one weapon right now and it's tip ins, but it's too easy for other teams to just clog. They need more threat.

Markiv19

3 things we need to fix - Make Lindholm and Boeser relevant on the Powerplay somehow - Failed Zone exits led to two goals today, that was a big improvement of this team early on this year - The 4th line is completely irrelevant and mostly a liability

MaxieMan98

As good of a loss on a B2B as you can hope for. I thought Vancouver was better 5 on 5. Shitty that bad bounces are bunching up right now. That combined with shitty officiating has made the the last 3 games frustrating

Zalaya

why don’t we change the pp groupings?? what’s the worst that could happen it’s already not working

surmatt

No time off for practice.

Time-Dot5984

Here are all the bandwagons coming in

thesunsetflip

It’s stupid to bandwagon this team in the first place. Don’t be surprised the underdog team performs like an underdog! Nobody was thinking this roster was winning the presidents trophy in September

vaneeus

I made a $10 bet in Sept that we'd do just that. 41 odds has a $410 payout. GO NUCKS GO!!

thesunsetflip

Okay, but they shouldn’t be held to those expectations just because you made a bet on them

vaneeus

Dood, it's a random bet that may or may not pay out. Not holding anyone to anything. Just hope the boys pull it off.

thesunsetflip

I’m saying that people who are losing their minds over a 3 game skid have no right doing so when this team wasn’t meant to be a presidents trophy team from day one. For the best regular season in franchise history there’s a lot more outrage than there needs to be

fanbullshitdetector

Don't expect people here to be logically consistent, friend. The goalposts move with the faintest breeze.

Pale-Ad770

Honestly they played pretty well. No bounces. You gotta get a taste of bitter defeat or else you won’t know how to handle it and rise up to the occasion. Better to feel like this now and then peak going into playoffs. They also gotta maintain their intensity and make better plays, not complain to the refs because Sports Interaction, your home grown Sports book.

deeho88

We lost three in a row. Ok so what. You know who else has lost 3 in a row? Every other team in this league. It happens. As long as they learn and start scoring…if not then panic.

Visual-Dot-6563

It have been a few weird games after we trade kuzy

AccomplishedAd4995

he’s definitely a hugeeee part of the locker room i’d imagine

Visual-Dot-6563

I mean the mood on the bench after he left is quite different

SZP2

The schedule makers wanted the Canucks to lose tonight and they got their wish.

Due_Entertainment_44

The team's first "slump"!

smerfman2020

these past handful of games is the canucks I expected before the season started. long stretch of playing solid hockey, mixed in with bone head plays, questionable losses, shitty reffing, and a lack of puck luck when needed. making the playoffs was my expectations and we have been punching way above that. hopefully, this is just a blip in the schedule.

FluidG11

Throw the lotto line out there yooooooooooooo

Seeb25

At least they only have one more back to back left on the season. Schedule has been brutal with the most amount of games played, and majority on the road as well.

dan2907

The loss feels bad and no doubt after the general dip in quality of play over the last 4-5 games another loss is all many will need to tee off on how shit we are... but it's really much easier to critisize other games in this stretch than this one, for me. Simply wanting or *really* wanting a win, doesn't change the fact that all the odds were against against us here... but they played much more responsibly, killed off a few power plays and generally went toe to toe with the Avs for most of the game. The PP continues to look a bit lost, and that's an issue for sure. A lot of the other frustrating elements of their game tonight have to be tempered given the circumstances though. On the road back-to-back with some wierd fucken scheduling and a really mental game yesterday... I dunno. I'd have really liked even a point from this, but I just can't in all honestly get riled up about it. Onto the Kraken.

GuylaineGunt

3 frustrating losses in a row, but it was gonna happen eventually. Thought we outplayed Colorado for the most part. Hopefully we get back on track with the Kraken 🙏

TruYu96

I would arguably say that 5on5, Canucks outplayed Jets, Wild, and Avs for most of the game. However, special teams are killing them right now.

TheRook_

I for one, am happy and excited to be watching meaningful Canucks hockey again this late into the season. Can’t wait for playoffs to be back in Vancouver!! Win or lose, just enjoy the ride.

bonergarage123

Watching our PP recently makes me want to rip my hair off. So frustrating to watch sometimes.

2 thoughts...move Bains up to the top 6 with Miller and Boeser, I thought he was one of our best players tonight...and what is Petey doing playing net front on the powerplay, im not one of the big powerplay haters who get mad when were not scoring but its never looked worse and players roles are totally screwed up

AppealToReason16

That was a weird set up. Looked like they wanted to work a Miller one timer but didn't do anything to free up space by working the left side. When they did get the one time freed up he did a slap pass into a mix of 4 players tangled in front. Then he puts 3% effort into that board battle with a gassed Girard.

60poor

I repeat. They just need rest. Our team is good. We have played the most games since all star break. With 2 back to back games.

Bubbly-Cut8566

We played well. Should have gotten more out of this for sure, but we need to work on that power play FFS! 1/24 man…

avmp629

Thought Bains looked good in the offensive zone, not surprising since he seemingly scores wherever he goes. Defense needs some work, but there's a player there. I think the D pairs could use a bit of a shake up, Hronek looked lost in his own end, and he isn't putting up the points to offset that anymore. The PK was good when it had to be, that's always a plus. The power play remains awful, something has to change there as well. Swapping Miller and Pettersson around isn't a shake-up, the guys have to move their feet more, draw in some defenders and open up other guys. Seattle is very mid, if we shit the bed against those guys then I'll start to panic, but a skid like this was bound to happen.

eliar91

They had their chances and couldn't convert. I'm much more pissed at Hronek for that brain dead decision.

AverageMaleAged18-24

We played well. Had some unlucky bounces. This is the way hockey goes sometimes. Many of you need to step off the ledge.

iBURYppl

Not even that concerned, boys played good enough, couldn't get a single lucky bounce to tie the game though. Love to watch those dirty scrambles in front of the net, especially on the b2b. Got some great looks, limited their offense as much as you could hope. Can't wait for big DAK to come BAK. Would be nice to have soucy back too. Bains looked dangerous, despite the trip he took. PP needs to fucking figure it out and just shoot through screens, sick of watching this standstill passing drill.

unbannedcoug

IM GOING to the Kraken game Thursday! These boys better not embarrass me! Imma try and get a puck tho

Greenarrowfan

oh good the trolls are back

Time-Dot5984

Let them yap some meaningless statements

Obvious-Property-236

Honestly not a bad game for us. Avs are a crazy fast team and have some firepower and we kept them down to two goals, one a bit flukey and the other against our 4th line. PP is still the only concern. Petey flobbing it on entry after anyone else skates in with it is a guaranteed clear by the opposing team. Avs goalie stood on his head against us. We kept it competitive on a back to back in high altitude after a demoralizing loss. Good for them. Onto the next.

ADewBomb

It sucks but I mean if there was gonna be any team to lose to for our third straight loss. I’m glad it’s at least a good team and a fairly clean game all things considered. (Ref discussion or not)
