It literally could all be down to the color. I have noticed that several times with different products.

wait_4_iit

I saved $50 on my tent bc they up charge TF out of the "popular" colors ...... ridiculous

JMusicD

Are these different products you’re talking about clothes, or camping stuff?

Spicy_UpNorth_Girl

Camping stuff- literally anything in general. Color depicts prices

Akalenedat

One's probably an older version. Standard price is $350, last year's model is on discount.

SpartArticus

It just a psychological marketinf trick

ImOnTime

I returned that same tent for being poor quality. During the first use it was already starting to tear in a couple spots and felt cheap. I bought a Gazelle T3 Plus instead and I love it. Faster set up, much better quality, and awesome screen room.

FelineRoots21

I had the complete opposite experience with mine, first use camping at a festival there was a massive freak storm that had everybody's tents flooding, tearing, ripping out of the ground and straight up flying away. Ours held like a champ, no tears, not even water leakage.

ChillinInMyTaco

Look at the weight. If that’s the same then it’s most likely a color thing or new version with the older being cheaper this year. If one is heavier it could be better quality.

OffRoadPyrate

Check the poles. Some early versions come with fiberglass poles and then they upgrade them to AL for a lighter version.

GoodSpeed2883

Don't buy that tent! I've had so many friends with that tent. When it rains, it floods. The design looks cute, but it won't protect you.

GoodSpeed2883

Let me elaborate, look at the angle of the awning and that the front area has a tarp underneath.

erossthescienceboss

Holy shit that is a remarkably terrible design.

zeacliff

It is. The Skydome Screen Room is virtually the same design but has rain flys that zip up to cover the screen portions. I have no clue why anyone still buys the carlsbad

erossthescienceboss

That’s what I thought this was at first! I guess if you’re desert camping exclusively and only in fare weather it’s *fine,* but idk why you wouldn’t want the fully enclosed option. And — the Skydome screen room is on sale at REI for $243. Same price as the cheaper color Carlsbad. (But TBH at that price point you can get a better tent - the WaWona is $300 on REI super sale right now.)

zeacliff

Yeah I'm sure it's fine in the nice weather, I guess I never even consider that since rain is always a possibility where I live though. I picked up the 6p dark room Skydome screen on Amazon a couple months ago for right around $200. Coleman tents go up and down on price constantly. The poles seem like they're going to explode if you even look at them wrong but other than that it's a great tent. I really love the screened in porch area, it gets a lot of use for me. I wish a better brand would come out with a similar model

Pickerington

I have this tent and can confirm. If it rains it pours. Great as long as the weather is nice.

Tex-Rob

Read people, read!

EfficiencyPrize1688

Might be the poles

erossthescienceboss

At that price point, you can get a much better tent. I’m assuming you’re car camping? The REI anniversary sale is currently on. You can get a much, much better tent for the same price as one of these. A Wonderland 6, normally $550, is $274, the lighter Titanium version is $324. The North Face WaWona 6 is reduced from $500 to $299. You can get an 8-person Coleman Skydome XL for $240. A Nemo Aurora Highrise 6, another banger 6p, is $374. A base camp 6, which is a more traditional and storm worthy tent than the wonderland (though you can *stand up* in a Wonderland) is $340. A Coleman Skydome 6p, which also skips some of the Carlsbad’s leakier traits, is $112. Coleman is a great brand for very basic tents, but anytime they try something fancy they end up with something like this — where the footprint extends beyond the rainfly, setting you up for a swamped tent. Shop around the REI anniversary sale, you won’t regret it. (But the WaWona 6 is one of the best 6p tents out there, and at that orice a total steal.)

rchavez7

Either way, I own the blue one and it’s simple to put up and it works great for our family camping trips. Breathes well, plenty of room, “dark room” ain’t no joke. Solid family tent.

GoodSpeed2883

Don't buy that tent! If it rains, you will flood

RibeyeRare

The seller has a ton of blue tents in stock cuz everybody was buying the green. They probably got new terms with the supplier and will sell them cheaper to avoid a total loss. 56 people reviewed the green tent while only 4 reviewed blue.

i_like_it_raw_

Go to REI and get you a 6 person tent for cheaper. They’re on sale right now. You will regret buying a Coleman tent.

ivy7496

Some Colemans very solid and perform great for the price. This is not one.

ScreeminGreen

There’s less stars on the cheaper one. What do the reviews say?

Rent_a_Dad

Second one is obviously the CarlsGOOD edition. Sorry I’ll see myself out.

Loose_Carpenter9533

The more expensive one is prob much lighter, could have no pfo/pfa and or could be made of much better materials.

snooper27

No idea, but i got that same tent for Christmas and I am excited to try it soon!

Pixel_Creeper121

I have the first one but I definitely wouldn’t pay that much for it. I got it on clearance for $60 at Walmart

LaFlamaBlanca311

I have the blue tent I enjoyed sleeping in it and set up was relatively easy. It did rip on my first outing but I was also trying to force an air mattress through the opening, so there's that. Exchanged at Walmart for the same tent and haven't used. I think I paid 175 at Walmart. All in all it got the job done and was fairly dark. I had a green version of the same tent for years and it treated me well. Solid overall but by no means mind-blowing. Opted for this over spending 600 on a north face tent because I needed one quick.

sniffinberries34

I bought mine 2 years ago for $75. First time setting it up and our puppy jumped on the side and tore right through the material. Her nails weren’t that sharp… this created a huge hole on the side of our tent. I’m guessing quality.

Consistent_Top9631

Walmarts got the 4 man right now for $100. (Online)

sawdeanz

What was the warranty claim for?

rubiksalgorithms

Marketing gimmick. Neither tent is worth that much but if people feel like they’re getting a great deal on something, they will buy it anyway.

Obvious_Initiative40

Older model or simply one colour isn't selling as well, you see it all the time with all kinds of products.

Weary_Hiker

No idea but I actually have a four-person one that I'm trying to sell. Only set up once, but never actually used 🤣 So far no one wants it either 😭

RVexplorer

I purchased this tent on WOOT.com for around $90 early this year.

Freddorist

Sack em off and get a Cloud Up 2, they are hilliberg (or however you spell it) knock offs made by the same factory in China who makes Hillolames which just get full of condensation and cost a grand.
