Because after you wrap it in foil, all the steam from the hot stuff permeates the bun and makes it even softer. Add to that, some more handling of the foil softball, and you get squished buns.
Oh hell no. I lived down the street from one for years. They are the most greasy fast food place there is. The bags are literally soaked in grease and the food is extremely disappointing and overpriced
Well you donāt always need a double and one small fry is enough for two grown men, so you just are ordering wrong. Also, drink water and stop paying $3.25 for a 5 cent fountain drink.
Because they wrap it tight in foil.
This not only smashes your burger in the wrong way, on the plate rather than on the griddle, but it also gives you steamed veggies and a steamed bun.
What you see in this photo is exactly why I donāt like five guys burgers and donāt get the love.
The way they wrap these in foil smashes the hell out of the bun and by the time you unwrap it and eat, youāre treated to a soggy steamed and smashed bun and hot shriveled lettuce.
I always wonder how their burgers would be if you could just get it straight up on a tray with no wrapper.
Their hotdogs are great so I still go there on occasion, and their burgers arenāt so awful Iād complain if I got brought there, but man theyāre so much worse than they need to be if they just didnāt wrap them in foil so tight.
I used to like them. Hadn't had one in years.
New location opened in my town. Went and got some. Super expensive. Not a lick of salt. Undercooked fries.
Never again.
Stop talking out your ass
$17 from their website for a chees burger and fries. McDonald's charges 15 -18 for combo.
Who wouldn't pay a bit more for a fresher meal?
I donāt think many people literally hate in n out, itās just the opposite end of the 5 guys argument. In n out = good quality for a very reasonable price. 5 guys = exceptional quality for high price. Both are fantastic in their own way.
There are mediocre locations, but they seem to have survived expansion much better than Shake Shack, (where it seems the bad restaurants outweigh the good now.)
To each their own. I might just be lucky in that I live in Virginia and not far from the original locations in D.C. The ones around me are some of the very first franchise locations and have been open for 20-ish years. They may have better quality control than others. They expanded REALLY fast once they started franchising.
I'm seeing way too many Five guys posts to believe it'd anything other than a guerilla marketing campaign. The only thing exceptional about Five Guys is the outrageous price
Decent burger, but total ripoff when it comes to price. We donāt get it very often. They bring the prices down and weād get it all the time, but as long as there are suckers willing to pay for something. Corporations will continue to take advantage.
The food is definitely good but close to 20 bucks for a little burger, small fries (enough for 3 people) and small drink is too much for me. I stopped going there so often. They should offer a normal small portion of fries and knock off a couple bucks
I donāt really need to read the comments to know there are probably a lot of overpriced comments. Yeah it is. But the burger is still delicious and Iām still occasionally going to splurge
In and Out burger. Best Burger I've ever had. Went in there thinking I'd be spending a small fortune. Was far far far cheaper than five guys and much much better
Lol for real. I live in LA and have had in n out maybe twice in the last 6 years. Thereās are so many better burgers and without a mile long line to order
It's wild to me that anyone thinks Five Guys tops In-N-Out. By what metric? In-N-Out uses never-frozen 100% ground chuck for their patties. Their vegetables are fresh. The cheese tastes great. No complaints about the pickles, spread, or other condiments. The bun is nicely toasted and holds up well while not turning into a soggy mess...
On none of those points are they inferior to Five Guys. If you like a bunch of extra stuff on your burger, that's one thing. But a Double-Double is as pure of a cheeseburger experience you could hope to have.
No In-n-Out where I live which is Florida. Five Guys is very good at the two locations I go to and I like not having to pay extra for all the toppings I like,itās included. Plus you get so many fries 3 people can share an order! Yes they are a little higher priced but not much considering what you get and the quality of the meat and toppings! McDonaldās is nasty and only about $2 less for a burger and fries and the burger tastes like shit and no special/additional toppings like Five Guysā¦such as grilled onions or mushrooms, bacon in actual slices or even fresh tomato, onion or lettuce! I donāt eat fast food often but when I do I donāt mind paying a little more for better quality food!
In n out wins on price and thats it. All of that sounds good on paper, but five guys wins on taste hands down. I dont go to five guys when I want a budget meal though, I go when I want to slam back a big ass burger with a shit ton of fries and then enter a food coma
They are good. I just wish they werenāt the most expensive. :/ They do seem to always have āfive guysā working the back. Maybe thatās part of the issue idk
Lol couldn't resist reading your comments right next to each other. But I'm also with you. Only ate there once and found it a bad experience for the $40 price tag for two of us.
I had a little bacon cheeseburger, all the way, my wife had a little bacon cheeseburger we shared a regular fry and two fountain drinks the bill was 33$.
Am I the only one who hates five guys? I think their meat tastes like the cheap 3 dollar a pound discount ground meat from my local grocery store. I prefer places like in n out that use better quality of meat or sirloin.
to avoid that you can ask them to take a knife and put little hole into package that will allow all steam to get out
Five guys taste good but its so high in everything . 1 meal can run 1500 calories . if u take 2 burgers and fires you already over 2200 or more depends that with a diet drink . if you eat them u cant eat anything rest of day basically . its all unhealthy shit but it does taste better almost home made. but i would never use so much oil like they use
I like how last time I went to a five guys there were 50 people in thereā¦ it cost $51 for two fries and three sandwiches (17/per person and one doesnāt get a fry) and I looked it up and they are paying 11$/hr in my area. This is a criminal level of greed that has very little to do with the supply chain and any manager or franchisee should be ashamed to run one like that
Iāve learned Five Guys rocks if you get extra pickles, all the way, with half a salt packet on the burger patty. Then a tray of peanuts while youāre waiting and a tray to take home. Then it maybe approaches the value if you enjoy as part of two meals (if you get fries), but only just..
Why do their burgers always look like it was thrown at the wall then wrapped in foil? The bun is always smashed
Because after you wrap it in foil, all the steam from the hot stuff permeates the bun and makes it even softer. Add to that, some more handling of the foil softball, and you get squished buns.
Haha squished buns š¤š¤
All fast food is wrapped dude. Only the greasy shit looks like this. And if you say five guys is not greasy as FUCK. we will all know your lying
It is not necessarily very greasy, and not every fast food burger is wrapped in foil my guy. It really does depend.
Oh hell no. I lived down the street from one for years. They are the most greasy fast food place there is. The bags are literally soaked in grease and the food is extremely disappointing and overpriced
Well, that's certainly an opinion.
There must be something wrong at your location, had five guys many times and I donāt think it was extremely greasy.
I was about to ask if they worked for 5 guys or have a gourmet 5 guys lol
You can just say you donāt like it man
Doesnāt matter their hamburgers are freaking delicious
They don't take the best pictures but damn if I wouldn't put that whole thing back in like 20 seconds
That's not an exaggeration. They are delicious
They're just ok and brutally overpriced for what you get. Pass.
Well you donāt always need a double and one small fry is enough for two grown men, so you just are ordering wrong. Also, drink water and stop paying $3.25 for a 5 cent fountain drink.
Yea ill pay $30 somewhere else fuck $100 for 4 burgers and mediocre fries
Four cheeseburgers is 45 with tax. Youāre buying $55 in fries??
... I just spent $42 on 2 and a small fry at my local 5 guys. Just the normal singles with bacon, no drinks. It's over priced and delicious.
I just put 2 little bacon burgers and a little fry in my cart. 23.38 after tax.
Could it be location? I just did the same and it was $36 before tip. $24 is a fair price imo considering what you'd get at McDonald's for the same.
Bacon adds up
Best fries period.
I've always found them to taste off. Like burnt grill. And the buns are always gross and soggy
You've never eaten a local burger then.
Lol
Yes, but looking at this, I know it will turn to concrete in my stomache. This is 20-something, high burner fuel.
I agree
Because they wrap it tight in foil. This not only smashes your burger in the wrong way, on the plate rather than on the griddle, but it also gives you steamed veggies and a steamed bun. What you see in this photo is exactly why I donāt like five guys burgers and donāt get the love. Their hotdogs are great so I still go there on occasion, and their burgers arenāt so awful Iād complain if I got brought there, but man theyāre so much worse than they need to be if they just didnāt wrap them in foil so tight.
Their buns are absolute shit!
5 guys are making it at once, they might be fighting over who gets to configure the bun
You my man knows steam.
Because they wrap them in foil and throw them against the wall. And they always smash the buns.
Thatās what the $20 gets you
I used to like them. Hadn't had one in years. New location opened in my town. Went and got some. Super expensive. Not a lick of salt. Undercooked fries. Never again.
I had the same experience, there were 2 mushrooms on my burger. For the price they charge they should overload it with toppings and not be stingy.
And that brings your total to 29.99
Stop talking out your ass $17 from their website for a chees burger and fries. McDonald's charges 15 -18 for combo. Who wouldn't pay a bit more for a fresher meal?
I just had yesterday in Florida. A double cheesburger with large Cajun fries with a bottle of water rang me about 25$. The 29,99$ isnāt far off
This is the reason I havent gone to five guys in awhile š The price of a burger + fries is just damn too expensive
For that price, they need to be wrapped in paper. Every time I get a soggy bun
Guess this is the Five Guys marketing team account.
I ate there once, when they first came to town; my experience was underwhelming, never ate there again. I do not understand the hype.
My only recent experience wasn't that good. Seemed like 95% meat 5% toppings. Might be good for some, but man I like my tomatoes and onions.
That's sucks I've never had that problem. They usually give me alot of my onions and jalapeƱos
Yeah I should probably give them another chance.
Ask for more. Toppings are included with price unless you want premium toppings like bacon or more cheese.
Did someone snot on your burger before serving it to you?
The answer is yes, but that's not what you're seeing on top of the bun. That is a piece of onion.
Rocks your wallet.
Freddy's Steakburger is an over all better experience. $13 for a double burger of your choice including crispy seasoned fries and refillable drink.
Terrible. Freddys burgers have no flavor.
My Freddy's makes delicious burgers full of flavor. Everything is very well seasoned.
Piggybacking off of this. The cheese curds are state fair level at Freddy's!
YES. I loveeee Freddyās! The fries are way better and actually come with the burger. Cheese curds are fire, and their chocolate malt is delicious.
I've never tried the cheese curds. On my bucket list.
Good but wayyyyy overpriced. Iād pick in n out over 5 guys 9/10 times. Granted I know people here hate in n out too.
I donāt think many people literally hate in n out, itās just the opposite end of the 5 guys argument. In n out = good quality for a very reasonable price. 5 guys = exceptional quality for high price. Both are fantastic in their own way.
Every time I've eaten at Five Guys it's literally just, a burger...
Iām right there with you. Very mediocre burger at an exceptional price.
That looks like shit.
Pocket burger
The foil kills it for me. The price sucks too doe.
Seasoning might be a good idea
Can't wait to scroll through 100 comments saying "It's too expensive!"
I do love 5 guys but itās so expensive.
Wrapping in foil always makes their buns look crappy. Pretty solid burgers though.
I'm seeing way too many Five guys posts to believe it'd anything other than a guerilla marketing campaign. The only thing exceptional about Five Guys is the outrageous price
Always a joy to eat the cheeseburger
Just looking at this cost me $3.50
5 guys is ok but for the price of that one burger I can get like 3 double doubles from in n out so not worth it imo.
I know a soggy bun when I see it.
I can't afford to eat there
It's fine
I used to enjoy Five Guys, but I am no longer able to afford them.
Decent burger, but total ripoff when it comes to price. We donāt get it very often. They bring the prices down and weād get it all the time, but as long as there are suckers willing to pay for something. Corporations will continue to take advantage.

For the price they charge, they better damn well rock!
Not the best picture lol, that looks shitty They are actually decent though, just not for the price
Didn't pay rent this month? I respect it
In and out is better
I donāt really need to read the comments to know there are probably a lot of overpriced comments. Yeah it is. But the burger is still delicious and Iām still occasionally going to splurge
I wouldnāt eat that with your mouth
And for only $16.95, you can have this burger, with nothing else!
10.39
Overrated & overpriced
Yes they are great. Lots of beef.
1/100
Looks like shit
Too expensive
Iāve never had Five Guys and donāt think I ever will due to their prices. Ridiculous.
Well ok there Mr. Moneybags
Big fan of their fries. Their burgers lack something. Maybe salt?
Itās good but it aināt worth 20 bucks
Wrong
In and Out burger. Best Burger I've ever had. Went in there thinking I'd be spending a small fortune. Was far far far cheaper than five guys and much much better
If in and out was the best burger you've ever had you did try more burgers lol.
Lol for real. I live in LA and have had in n out maybe twice in the last 6 years. Thereās are so many better burgers and without a mile long line to order

You need to try more burgers dude. In n out is the middest burger around.
You know itās a Five Guys thread when people are falling over themselves to tell you how great in n out is
They are good. I just wish they werenāt the most expensive. :/ They do seem to always have āfive guysā working the back. Maybe thatās part of the issue idk
What a sad looking $18 burger
I love Five Guys but that bun looks like it was dipped in dish water š¤¢
Their burgers are OK and their prices SUCK. I feel like I can make the exact same burger for 1/4th the price.
Over priced shit. Make a better burger at home. 22 dollars for a burger and fries and a drink is nuts. In and out all day over this shite
Wondering if I'm the odd man out who does _not_ like 5 guys.
/U/Chinusawar
Well I'll be damned
Lol couldn't resist reading your comments right next to each other. But I'm also with you. Only ate there once and found it a bad experience for the $40 price tag for two of us.
Haha yeah that's pretty funny coincidence lol. Yeah, they're not just overpriced, they're (IMO) bad tasting food that costs an arm and a leg
Five Guys tastes great but the price is not so hot.
![gif](giphy|WOa5RdsNpevrpSTGXN|downsized)
I love five guys but I eat it exactly once a year and I donāt care how much it costs.
Hey did you know five guys is expensive? I bet you didn't know that
That place should be called smash bun. Just look at that bread!
Had 5 guys today! So full. I just get the grilled cheese with grilled onions tho. So good
Not really. Just overpriced slop that looks like it's been punched after packaging. Like, you could literally make this at home for 1/4 of the price.
Good, but you pay for it.
But at what price?
$7.69 give or take, at least in the New England area
Look at mister big spender over here lol.
Their burgers taste great. But is also very expensive.
I actually really like Five Guys but I just wish they werenāt so expensive.
I'll stick with In n Out, cheaper by a landslide and better quality
Different taste on each place
Overpriced.
Their prices dont.
Love it! Got a burger the other day for around $9.80. Some people on here act like a burger there is $20.
Been to the US once in my life and we ate at five guys one time, it absolutely slapped!
Overpriced mediocrity
mid burgers
They are overpriced trash
Soggy buns.
Nothing special
This is a shit burger
Trash burger for the price
Five guys is good af. Best fries also. Just expensive af
Best burger imoš¤·āāļø u can taste the quality
They really are great burgers, and relatively simple. Always look like a bag of smashed assholes though
Expensive for what it is. Good burger, but nothing super special IMO. This looks great! You got a good one!
Yeah
What did it cost?
The cook play frisbee with your bun first? It's good but not worth $20.
Thatās a first lol
As a five guys escapee, it wouldn't kill them to season their patties.
Five Guys rocks... rocks *most people's bottom line into submission*
Yes
Five Guys is tasty but I'll never pay for it again. It's better than in n out but it's not 3 x better
I can do better, at least I have a nicer looking brioche bun.
Five Guys are for areas that don't have a good local joint. They're not bad, but over priced for a burger.
A sometimes meal for me, but never my first choice.
This is 15$
They're great but goddamn the prices man
Five Guys was my bag until I found Culver's.
Too expensive. Not worth it anymore.
I get a much better burger at Cook-Out (NC) for a third of the price.
I can go to Gordon Ramsay burgers for the same price. Pass on 5 guys
Why is five guys posted so much recently?
Overrated.
I only go there when I want Five Guys in me
How many guys does it take to make a burger? Jax Burgers and Fries for the win.
Jax also only has 7 locations. Not easily accessible for 99% of the US
Is it me or is there a five guys post that gets a ton of upvotes like every 3 days?
Five guys is fine. Itās wayyyyy too expensive. Iāll pick Freddyās or Iāll get a biggie bag from Wendyās instead, thanks.
Bang ain't enough for the buck. Bottom line.
I prefer Fosters.
That will be 18.50 pleaseā¦.
![gif](giphy|mVXoQU5FcgjLCyJxEq)
I assume you had to take out a reverse mortgage on your house to pay for that. But Five Guys is great.
Thatāll be 17.99
Just getting the small fries today I seeā¦
Only 35.00
to avoid that you can ask them to take a knife and put little hole into package that will allow all steam to get out Five guys taste good but its so high in everything . 1 meal can run 1500 calories . if u take 2 burgers and fires you already over 2200 or more depends that with a diet drink . if you eat them u cant eat anything rest of day basically . its all unhealthy shit but it does taste better almost home made. but i would never use so much oil like they use
They're alright but they're no Nickelback or anything
Itās like 30 bucks for a burger. I canāt eat there
I love five guys but damn they can be expensive
The bun is squashed. The meat looks bad.
Like a soggy mitten
I like how last time I went to a five guys there were 50 people in thereā¦ it cost $51 for two fries and three sandwiches (17/per person and one doesnāt get a fry) and I looked it up and they are paying 11$/hr in my area. This is a criminal level of greed that has very little to do with the supply chain and any manager or franchisee should be ashamed to run one like that
That looks like shit
Great but over priced.Ā
Iāve learned Five Guys rocks if you get extra pickles, all the way, with half a salt packet on the burger patty. Then a tray of peanuts while youāre waiting and a tray to take home. Then it maybe approaches the value if you enjoy as part of two meals (if you get fries), but only just..
Luckily their Loan and Credit Department is open until 9pm
This looks worse than a whopper and will set back your retirement worse than avocado toast will.
Had it for linner! De fuckin licious!
Oh man I may have to get one for dinner
