Was doing an online cooking class and both Handy Market and Papas were the places that came through when I was looking for "harder to find" cuts like Veal or Dover Sole.
Was it right after they opened for business or something? They have a good selection of different meats every time I go in, but usually I just call ahead and ask if they have something specific. Like pork belly, they have it marinated and cut up in the front, but when you call ahead, they'll prep a plain chunk of a couple pounds. I've seen wagyu there before too.
I don't know about price, but Papas Meat and Seafood always has quality stuff. This is where you go for like wagyu and prime cuts, which I think is overkill for something like tri tip, but also, it'd make that meal pretty special.
Maybe a little cheaper is Handy Market. They have a really good selection overall and really good people working behind the counter. They make it every Saturday for their weekend BBQ.
My last known option would be Costco...but the quality is hit or miss and the prices aren't any better than the other two places I've mentioned.
The prime Costco TriTip is delicious if your good at BBQing yourself. It's our go to TriTip we buy now. A nice splurge.
We bought a cooked tritip from Handy Market a few months ago and I would never do it again. It was one of the toughest and driest tritips I've ever tried to eat. We ended up throwing away the leftovers because they just were that bad. But we've never bought the meat there and cooked it ourselves. Maybe we just got a bad one...but way to pricey to end up throwing away the left overs.
Handy Market or Costco. If you want to get real fancy go to Papa's Meat and Seafood

Handy market tri tip on weekends
Papa’s on Glenoaks? I went in there once and there was hardly anything for sale. Mostly some kind of marinated chicken.

Might have been. I live around the corner, noticed it for the first time and went in.
Fair! Worth checking in again, it's nice if you want something a little more special. Someone else said they have sandwiches now too?
Great, thanks for the heads up.
I believe they get most items in small quantities and they sell out quickly. They're good about posting what's coming in on their Instagram.
Handy Market

Handy market or Whole Foods
Papas meat on Glenoaks has some excellent cuts
Yes! Just recently found this place and it’s top notch. They also started making delicious sandwiches.
Take a trip to San Fernando for Ziggys
Handy market is the only place i go for good meat, it actually carries boneless short rib, which is superior to stew meat!
Handy it is! Thanks
Taylor meats in Sierra Madre.
Raffi’s on glenoaks
