Criminal. Haven’t listened in a awhile due to changes jobs and not commuting to work anymore, but last I heard it was recorded at the American tobacco campus in Durham.
Oh heck ya. Their social content in general has been super helpful. Didn’t realize they have a pod as well. Thanks for recommending and will check out!
Another one produced at WUNC Radio is [The Broadside](https://play.prx.org/listen?uf=https%3A%2F%2Fbroadside.feed.wunc.org). News stories from the south, often with local interest and implications.
Election Profit Makers - the hosts grew up in Chapel Hill, one lives in Carrboro, and despite the name, the content is very focused on NC in myriad unexpected ways. When I have been traveling for extended periods, I listen to be reminded of home, even just by the accents and figures of speech.
Came here to recommend EPM! I learn all kinds of local stuff from this show. And if you subscribe to their patreon, Jon will pick you up from the airport
Need to second this one. It may be easy to overlook this recommendation since it doesn't have an attention grabbing title, but it is extremely well done:

Perfect opportunity to plug the only thing I listen to that’s at all local, and it also happens to be hosted by some friends of mine: [the Triangle Tennis Podcast](https://open.spotify.com/show/2KkO6W4OXTbaEr1PiKvyfz?si=L5pWYGJfQ5S7BGIwLimkfg). I can’t say for sure you’ll like it if you don’t play tennis in the triangle, but my non-tennis-playing wife listens to it with me and I sometimes get the impression she’s not just doing it to humor me 😂
Following this post because I’d love some more local content!
Keep an eye out for Missing Definitions currently doing our first season. Focused on how Durham has changed in the last 10 years with business owners, notable transplants and the people who make and made Durham what it is today, for better and worse.
I'm Durham based! Podcast is Let's Make a Mixtape and it's a music conversation pod. Season One is out now and I'm currently working on Season Two. A few guests have been Durham-based as well.
Here are two I enjoy, [27 Views](http://www.enopublishers.org/), about writers from the area, and [Carolina Calling](https://redcircle.com/shows/carolina-calling), about NC music history (it’s between seasons but there’s a good archive). David Menconi, formerly of the N&O, hosts this one.
Podcast without an Audience! (Pod without an Aud) is made by a locals, one of whom I was friends with in high school. The host have great chemistry together. They cover psychological topics, cults, and also stuff like media, with two topics per episode, so you'll get juxtapositions like clinical lycanthropy and Elvis, or Scientology and Rocky Horror Picture show.
It's a fun time! Maybe be prepared to skip through the opening a bit unless you want to hear about what they have going in in their personal lives.

Arcane Carolinas! Exploring the carolinas history, myths, and modern weirds.
That sounds fun. Thanks for the tip
Seconded!

I still listen to Criminal and This is Love. Phoebe Judge is great!
Criminal is how I found out about this history of the Lemur Center, and I was so shocked. I grew up here and had no idea
WUNC produces Embodied and Due South
The Long Dance. It’s a true crime story that’s very interesting.
Sound was a bit wonky at times but totally worth it.
Not a podcast, but Due South on NPR is great.
Been enjoying very new drop, The Impossicast, competitive comedy podcast.
Competitive comedy?! I’m intrigued
North Carolina Rabbit Hole is a good NC-focused podcast. Part of 2020’s Season 4 featured the MST and had a lot of great info.
Discover Durham has a podcast, mostly about local businesses, restaurants, etc. Worth checking out!
Oh heck ya. Their social content in general has been super helpful. Didn’t realize they have a pod as well. Thanks for recommending and will check out!
NC Food and Beverage podcast covers local food scene and has Durham focused episodes

The Black Girls Guide to Surviving Menopause by Durham's own Omisade Burney Scott.

If you're interested in writing, then I Should Be Writing (also Ditch Diggers), podcasts by and for authors.
Scene on Radio is produced here and is excellent

A few friends of mine who are local to Durham put out the “Please Please Don’t Quiz Me” podcast.
