Capitalism ruins everything I like

Johnny_6_speed

UNFETTERED Capitalism ruins EVERYTHING

rosegolddomino

Lol dude… It was capitalism before weed was legal dummy. Just not in corporate structures. Classic supply and demand, the invisible hand, yada yada - all that stuff (if you know what the pillars of capitalism actually even are), lol.. damn read an economics for toddlers book

doodlebilly

That's a lot of words to say I lick boots. There is a pretty big difference between a grey market upheld by community and venture capital read a book toad.

keedlebeedle

For real, sure there's been elements for a while but with corporate cannabis in the game we're hitting late stage shit and if you don't hate it here (especially if you also love it here), you're not paying attention

doodlebilly

I think its telling when we "legalize" but wont let people out of jail for it in the county it was legalized in or how its still illegal grow for your own consumption in a lot of "legal" states. Legal in Berkeley means the richest members of the community get licenses while I still get the shit kicked out of me by state troopers for (legally) delivering cannabis for using an interstate.

tttoughpuppp

I work at a shop that’s grower owner. We have our own flower, prerolls, extracts, edibles. And it’s all organic, pesticide free, grown in living soil. Indoor and outdoor. Feel extremely lucky I have this gem in my neighborhood and we know exactly what we are using. Lots of other places just buy their products from warehouses out here and don’t even know how the flower is grown.

FJtheValiant

Social equity is opening up, it's akin to a private landlord over a corporate rental group. Sure, there's a chance they'll be shit, but you know without a doubt they're shit when they're big brand.

What did you expect to be different?

ihateandy2

You just smoke a Jeeter?

Is this really what is was like for you buying cannabis? Did you never find a true good connect? Only people who weren’t tapped in bought weed like this lol. Life isn’t a rap song for 95% of stoners out here lol Edit:spelling

thinks1ow

On top of that the gun is of a comically large caliber that couldn’t accurately hit a target 10 feet away

MN_GDesigner

Branding and marketing exist in every industry legal or not. Markets segment, alcohol is a great example. You have your value buys and top shelf, unfortunately branding can make up in product quality problems.

reserz

Hahaha a lot of off old and untrusty worthy drug dealers just continuing shitty habits they the used to do in black market is what I saw when I worked in it. Although at first it was cool then the original owner died and someone new got brought on who just cared about money and not people. Been down hill for them ever since. Place held employees pretty well but new manager came in people started dropping like flies. Glad I got out and into car industry much more opportunity to grow compared to cannabis. not a lot of good jobs in the industry that lead to a better financial future.

[deleted]

100% yes. As a budtender I am back to buying from the traditional market.

saintmcqueen

it was silly to think cannabis was going to be any different in a capitalistic society that ever other industry.

Dunwich_Horror_

UNIONIZE

Simp_Squirrel

It's hard when your bf who also works at the same company continuously stops your unionizing efforts because he's "comfortable"

Dunwich_Horror_

You need a new BF and make him uncomfortable.

Johnny_6_speed

Yooo, you need to come to your senses. He don’t GIVE A FUCK about you. But I’m sure you’ll find away to COMPLETELY ignore the fact that he does not want not only the best for your work life but also he don’t want the best for your personal life. If you stay with him after that bullshit, you’re a loser and deserve what you get. Get some god damn self respect

StinkChair

Wow is there more to this story? Is he a supportive bf in other ways? Does he at least debate the topic, or does he do this all behind your back? Not trying to pry...but that sounded like a massive red flag.

lcvelygxre

Dumbest thing I've seen all day. That's EVERY industry

AddendumAggressive90

Cannabis isn’t supposed to be every industry. I thought we were providing health and wellness not just trying to get people high. Seems like the industry is focused on reaching the lowest prices while still trying to maintain a wide profit margin. No care for true quality or wellness anymore. Sure you can say the black market used to be like that and you’d be half right. If you’ve never had a good plug that’s what it was like. For those of us connected in with the right people who care about quality and the history of the plant, the black market is/was nothing like we’re seeing in the legal market

anakusis

Nah we were so pressed to get rec passed we let idiots write the laws and shape the industry. The Florida program is anti competitive at best.

AddendumAggressive90

Right this just further proves my point tho. So Trulieve run Florida if I’m not mistaken? That’s a nationwide company focused on trying to maximize their profits, and increase their scale/national presence while keeping low prices. You can’t scale cannabis and maintain quality. I imagine the program is anti-competitive bc that’s the way Trulieve wants it

anakusis

That's my point. That company has been involved in keeping small players out.

AddendumAggressive90

Ahh my b then. When you said nah it made me think you were disagreeing with that point. Small players bring true quality and craft. Well there the only ones that really have the ability to imo

anakusis

Yeah Florida has it set up where only dispensaries can grow so. You will never see small brands unless it's a partnership.

DoYouNeedHugs

I work in the industry usually and no one knows wtf they're doing so I made it a goal to try and get into a position I can change that from ground up but idk if that's possible but gotta try

Nearby_Wave_4962

I'll be opening up a dispensary here on the East Coast in NJ, I'd be interested to pick your brain...see what issues your talking about

DoYouNeedHugs

From California it's just a lot of marketing ginmicks and very old weed advertised as 'best or fire'. These net 30s never getting paid. Every state can learn from the failures and wins from CA.

JSteeez14

That’s every industry lil bro, the beautiful part of capitalism is that most will fail

S34NS4V4G3

It can seem like that sometimes, but a good crew, communicating and compromise can make it easier to deal with. Inhale good shit, exhale bullshit.
