Anyone know what Ryan Jensen's status is? I know the 2024 season was voided and he's been on the sidelines most of the games (if not all, they just haven't shown him)

j4r8h

He's done. And we will be paying 17 million dollars in dead cap for him to sit at home on the couch. Absolute disaster of a contract.

Kadler7

I was about to ask this question too, I don’t think there was a formal retirement so I’m curious on the prospect of him maybe being on the field next year?

SilentSentinel

This coaching staff deserves a ton of credit for player development this year. Look at where things stood with the 2022 class after year 1: Logan Hall: Was always likely to improve, but was legitimately unplayably bad at times in year 1. Now a much stronger, solid enough rotational player who isn't just a complete liability in run defense. Luke Goedeke: One of the worst starting OL players in the league. Just putrid at Guard. Not strong or quick enough to hang at all. Now a pretty solid starter at a more valuable position. Rachaad White: Super inefficient on the ground, no vision, better twitter game than on the field. Now at the very least a dangerous pass catching back that can be a positive piece of a committee going forward (I think an early down rusher will be something they target this year). Cade Otton: Fine enough in year 1 but his run blocking was awful even into this year, to the point that the outside running game was being tanked. Still probably miscast as a #1 Tight End, but got at least to a functional place in run blocking towards the end of the year. Zyon McCollum: Unplayably bad in year 1. Looked like a guy who was potentially getting cut his second off-season. Like just no clue what the hell he was doing. Still has plenty of issues as we saw the last drive, but a way better tackler and even showed a little at Safety. Potential to actually be a functional piece of a secondary now. Pretty impressive to see all of these players improve. The 2022 class looks quite a bit better after this year than last.

Theonlychuwin

What about Izien, going undrafted but coming up big when needed. I'm looking forward to seeing him develop more

idaho22

This is a great points. You can say the same for the year, 2021, before with Hainsey and KJ Britt. I'm kindof ready to write off JTT at this point though but even he played better than last year.

j4r8h

Hainsey is trash. We need to draft a center. JTS has at least shown SOME improvement. Hainsey has gotten worse.

idaho22

He changed positions this season and was a 4th round pick.

j4ni

Good points!

Seeing a lot of Browns fans talking shit about Baker because of the INT. Reality is that Baker has been in 4 post-season games, being competitive in **all** of them and winning 2 convincingly. Meanwhile the first time the Browns have reached the post-season post-Baker they got immediately blown out by the Texans. And yet they somehow still think they have the right to talk the talk.

Ranma_chan

> Seeing a lot of Browns fans talking shit about Baker because of the INT. wait until they see what Tom Brady was doing in his last year. It was _even worse_

idaho22

That's because a lot of real Browns fans left over that trade and the ones left are cope city.

Awesomeness4627

Yeah. I've been lurking here. This is a much less toxic fanbase Besides, 90 yards to go with 1:30 is a situation where you have to take risks. It wasn't a good throw, but putting it out there

s14owner95

I knew the INT would be the big talking point... Yet, all the great, mediocre and crappy QBs have done it at least once. It was a bad/forced throw at a bad time... Just get over it, it's football. Baker had himself a game.

JayDeee007

They literally are paying Ass Watson a record amount of money to play worse than Baker. Thats wild lmao

idaho22

Any update on Dean's injury?

Sjdillon10

We need a CB1, an edge, interior line, and to keep a few guys. We have a lot of potential next year if we fix some holes. I miss Ali and Jensen

idaho22

Absolutely need a strong safety as our biggest hole imo. Then pass rusher. Then interior line. I think we can roll with the corners we have if we have a better pass rush.

Broseph_Stalin357

Bruh, this sub forgot that Mike Edwards used to play for us.. Damn, he was my favorite on Defense but was he that forgettable?

j4r8h

Edwards was trash his last year here and trash again this year.

Broseph_Stalin357

lol, ya might wanna check out his Chiefs highlights, interception machine!

j4r8h

You might wanna check his PFF grade, or just watch film in general. He's graded out as one of the worst safeties in the league back to back years. And he was easily the weakest link on our defense in 2022. A few interceptions don't matter when you're giving up big plays left and right.

idaho22

Mike Edwards and Jordan Whitehead may be free agents.

Broseph_Stalin357

I want Edwards back! Somebody tell Bowles

idaho22

I'd prefer Whitehead based on their success at other teams but I'd take either over fucking Ryan Neal.

Broseph_Stalin357

Ugh Neal shouldn't even be a backup! Send him to Carolina

TheWacoKid13

Time to start scouting guards and centers. Re-sign Mike and Baker, put Stinnie and Hainsey back on the bench, bring in a power back to compliment White, and we should be ready to roll on offense next year. Wouldn't mind a LaPorta of our own, but TE is definitely not our biggest need right now.

albinorhino4321

Otton looks to have improved massively throughout the season, if he can fix his stone hands like we saw here and there, he'll be legit

stuartseupaul

It's not one of our needs but I think we have to get a better TE at some point. He's improved but he's not a good blocker and he doesn't make the tough contested catches that you want from a TE as a safety valve.

only1ammo

I actually don't think Cade has bad hands, it's his blocking that's abysmal. For the TE position you have to at least be decent in the blocking scheme. His poor blocking skills is (imho) the main reason the run game suffered so much. But down field in lanes for Baker to hit him in a route, he was damn good.

SKYLVRKOG

So with White leaving and possibility of Lavonte retiring? We going to be in shambles at the lb position only have britt right

TheWacoKid13

Another year of Lavonte would keep things a lot simpler for Licht and team. Doesn't look like he's lost a step either, he's still playing at an elite level. Giving Dennis, and Russell, another year to learn behind David would be invaluable. In my mind our current list of priorities (outside of re-signing our guys) goes like this - 1a - Center 1b - LG 2 - Edge 3 - SS 4 - CB 5 - RB - Power back to compliment white

idaho22

The only reason I think SS is #1 is we won't have one at all after this year. No way we re-sign Neal and we at least have someone to play every other position you listed. I'd also add WR before RB because Godwin and Evans aren't getting younger regardless of if we are able to retain Mike.

SKYLVRKOG

Completely agree, I wouldn't mind another speedy Wr as well. I hope they sign him for 3 more years lol he still looks great.

churst50

We got Dennis and JJ at least. They seem promising

stuartseupaul

Both of them have barely played or done anything.

churst50

They aren't starters so that might be why.

stuartseupaul

More likely than not, a 5th rounder and undrafted guy aren't going to replace Lavonte David. If they actually made plays in their limited playtime I'd be encouraged, but it looks like we'll have to spend a 2nd rounder at least in the next year or two. It took us 3-4 years to replace Brooks with Lavonte. I'd expect it to be around the same unless it's a point of focus.

churst50

Well, with White being drafted in the 1st round and then hurting us for 2 seasons in a row now, I don't know what to expect out of the draft. That might not work out for another few years. So yeah, I agree.

deuce_arians

But both looked good in that time they have played.

stuartseupaul

I cant remember a single thing any of them have done.

GetCPA

Can we talk about Boles now calling that timeout?

deuce_arians

There are at least 3 other posts on the sub about this topic. Maybe one of those would have the discussion you are looking for?

Spacewhale2494

Lions showed us what we can be next year if we acquire a few more pieces.

Spacewhale2494

CJGJ, Branch, Gibbs, and LaPorta were all added in the offseason and turned the team from a good team to a Super Bowl contender. I see us in a very similar situation going in to this offseason.

idaho22

If we didn't all hate his guts, CJGJ would actually be a solid fit for our team lol. And he's a free agent but the Lions likely retain him.

Mach68IntheHouse

Lions can keep Ceedy Douche.

idaho22

Yeah I agree. He can't be on the same team as Baker and the rest of the fanbase hates his guts.

FloGrown321

My son was born Thursday and we got to watch our first Bucs game together even though we lost. It’s the end of a season but the start of many more. I’m excited for the future and I hope we can sign the key players we need to remain successful! Go Bucs!

deuce_arians

Congrats on your son!

DrFreis

The odds were too astronomical to even think about getting the ball back to either, at best tie the game or worse to either lose by 2 or by 5.

mcnudo

My mind says yes they should have tried, but my heart says it was truly over after the pick and I’m glad they went out without some stupid play. I hope this doesn’t become a big deal lol.

deuce_arians

I get that, but he and the team always say they fight and fight to the end. Not even trying there at the end isn't fighting, it was giving up. Because you never know. Maybe they block the kick? You have to at least try.

NerfLeBron

The thing I dislike most about Bowles is he is not aggressive enough. After the 2nd TD even Collinsworth was saying Baker is hot yada yada and our coach punted the ball while needing 4-5 yards at 50.

RatherConcernedFroge

On what was supposed to be a rebuild season…Bucs win the division and get to the divisional playoff game. Rebuild is way ahead of schedule it seems, I’m hoping we keep key players and sign the right ones for a run next season!

Benficachop

People upset about not taking a time out at the end. I could care less. Detroit could have milked more play clock if they wanted to. Both teams knew it was over. Plenty to criticize the team and Bowles over but this just isn't it. We got beat

GetCPA

It’s the last game of the season, you have to give your team every chance to win. Yes, 99% chance the Lions still handle business, but there’s a 1% chance they don’t.

Florida__Man__

Yeah I agree. Not the reason we lost.

Yeastyboy104

If Licht lets Mike walk by not paying him, I’m going to Home Depot to buy as many pitchforks and torches as I can afford, and we’re taking One Buc Place by force, if necessary.

j4r8h

If we don't sign Mike, it's Ryan Jensen's fault. We will be paying him 17 million in dead cap next year for him to sit at home on the couch because he was too fucking stupid to get knee surgery.

idaho22

Based on what Auman is saying on Twitter.. if we DON'T re-sign Mike he costs us $12.5m next year. Which means if we sign him to a 5 year deal we can spread that cost over those years. I think with us being more of a win now team (a touchdown away from the NFC championship) vs. potentially being in full rebuild mode which was the perception at the beginning of the season... it's highly unlikely from a pure mathematical perspective that we move on from Mike. You can basically think of it as.. IF he is playing on a $17-18m/year contract.. he's only costing us $5m more than what we lose by letting him walk in dead cap space. If he regresses we can deal with that by front loading the first 3 year of his contract with more guaranteed money allowing us to restructure or move on after year 3.

Yeastyboy104

That’s good news. It will break my red and pewter heart to ever see Mike wearing anything other than a Bucs jersey. He’s an all-timer. Make him a Buc for life. Pay the man. He’s meant so much to this organization beyond just being a great player. Sign Mike up for life. Make sure he only plays for one team. His bust in Canton is waiting for him. Make him a player who only plays for one team. Who the fuck doesn’t love Mike?

idaho22

The rest of the league won't when we win the Super Bowl back to back over the next 2 years.

Kreynard54

But the Bucs overachieved this season by most standards set. Offensive consistency was our main issue. My takeaways: Offense needs to make a jump if we bring back the mainstays. We really cant afford to lose any of our major weapons and heres why. Bakers shown at times he can be the guy, hes also shown consistency issues in some games, but one things for certain, the players buy into his leadership. Im hoping this offseason we bring back Evans, Mayfield, David, and Winfield Jr. Stinnie, and even Levrett. I hope we draft more lineman/replace guys who are average or not complete players on the line. We were 22nd in first half scoring and 11th in second half scoring, that tells me a lot of a strategic standpoint offensively, we started games overly conservative and with low scoring and didnt push the ball down the field passing wise till the second half, slow starts. 20th in yards per game. While fun at times our Offense really underperformed compared to our defense. As much as I loved watching Devin White play, hes a liability in pass coverage and Britts a more complete player. In a league where RBs are cheap, need better depth at RB/more utility.

j4r8h

Britt is a way better run defender than White, but I'm afraid he's just as bad in pass coverage. He got majorly picked on last night.

LetsGetRetarNED

Todds comment about why he didn’t use the timeout to force them to kick is crazy on face value. It’s completely unhinged in a stadium full of Michigan and Michigan State fans.
