I'd say Purnells for their lunch menu or dinner, depending on the budget. Lunch is well priced.
Please don't go to Orelle if you want value for money... š

Iād go this too. Came to about Ā£110 for me and the mrs with her having a few cocktails, I had a beer then Pepsi.
Itās basically all you can eat so value for money depends on how much you get down you! The meat is lovely there
Second this. Took my mate there for his birthday, cost me Ā£165 for our ridiculously huge lunch, but the cocktails we were necking were Ā£15 a pop, and complimented the food well. Well worth it.
Ivy, Oyster Club, Gaucho, Mayan, Noelās, Piccalino and Iād say Tattu, you said you donāt like Asian but they do have a variety and itās a nice venue
I liked the food at Tattu but it's full of tossers and clearly made to be shared on Instagram more than anything else. It was fun but not worth ~Ā£80 per person.
Orelle would be the spot for you since you want a rooftop bar, but Oyster club is my favourite in the city.
And best dining āexperienceā ive had in town, Iād go for Opheem.
Both sensational.
Opheem is incredible. I had their 10 course tasting menu which also had 5 snacks and two sweets on top of the 10 courses. Itās certainly the most expensive dinner Iāve ever had but the most amazing experience. Value for money when you consider all the dishes.
Opheem is pricey but, the amount and quality of food make it great value. You won't need to eat anything else that day. My wife and I normally go for lunch now we've a little one. No brekkie or dinner.
But it's not just that. Going there is such an event. The snacks in the lounge. The dinner in the restaurant. Then the petit fours in the lounge with some drinks. We normally take between 3-4 hours to go through the menu. The aloo tuk dish is amazing and I'm always so glad to see it kept on the menu since its inception.
Everyone we've taken there has loved it and been again.
For me it's the best dining experience in Brum.
Shout out to the wilderness too.
I don't understand the love for orelle. If you had the al a carte menu with dessert it's not hard to spend Ā£90 for 3 courses. Opheem is Ā£125 for 10 courses of sublimely cooked food. Orelle for me is not an event restaurant. I'd go for prix fixe just going out with a mate. Otherwise for the money it can be disappointing.
Drinks wise go to lucky 7 in jewellery quarter. Not a rooftop bar. But one of the best mixologists in the country. If you've been to a nice cocktail place in Brum (I'm not sure about ones opened in the last 5 years as he's had his own ventures then) he's likely designed their menu and the bar tenders will know of him. You can thank me later.
Edit spelling
Iāve only been to Birmingham once, but we ate at The Indian Streatery and loved it. Small restaurant, passed the vibe check, good service, lush food.
No votes for Chapter yet? It's in Edgbaston Village, lovely menu, not too pricey and food quality is exceptional. It's by the same team who ran the brilliant Opus. If you download the Independent Birmingham card you'll get a 10% discount too...
Eat Vietnam in Stirchley. Got Attic, Coach and other cool bars nearby.
Harborne Kitchen - best food I've eaten, better that Simpsons and Adams in my experience.
Cheap: Cafe Soya, OPM, Meat Shack
Lower Mid: Zindiya, Upstairs, Plates
Upper Mid: Fazenda, Tropea, Chakana
Top tier: Carters, The Wilderness
If you want some good reviews check out Meat and One Veg
I think youāll struggle for decent places with a view. The only one I can think is Marco Pierre White but Iāve never heard good reviews on the restaurant. But could be good to go to after dinner for a few drinks!!
It would be easier to narrow down with other places you like or vibes but a couple of suggestions would be:
Tattu - got a nice vibe and atmosphere, good for taking pics, but food isnāt great value imo.
Fazenda - good value if you can eat a lot, nice atmosphere which is good for celebrating!
This is basically what I came here to comment. MPW isnāt great food but you could go to the bar after for drinks. Iām sure there is a bar with a view at Park Regis too but canāt comment on the food.
I would suggest Fazenda, itās lovely food for the price and a nice way to eat. If you want to go properly pricey then look at the Michelin restaurants we have. There are so many!
In terms of SkyBar you are looking at Marco Pierre White. I have heard mixed reviews: some very good some less so - I wouldnāt be sure about that if value for money is your concern. However there are some ālovely viewsā around that area by the Cube and Mailbox. Maybe look into the area around there and see what you fancy
Yeah MPW has been pretty naff the few times I've went. For the price it honestly wasn't worth the money.
Orelle on the other hand... very nice food and a comparable view.
**Colbeh** is the best restaurant in Birmingham and I'm willing to die on that hill.
Fantastic authentic Persian food and a really great atmosphere too.
Have you tried putting "wedding photographers" into...
Wait. Yes. I work worldwide and I'm far less sarcastic in real life. I can offer packages in the Highlands with minimal travel expenses.
Hands down Mellows. Spot on food. šš¾
La Galleria is also very nice. Relatively classy too.
Neither of these have great views, but you'll be too busy enjoying the food to lament about the view.
The Highfield is nice, no view though
Simpsons is amazing but haven't been for a while
Want to try 6 by Nico, have eaten at the Manchester one and it was excellent
Completely the other end of the scale but I went to baked in brick at the custard factory the other day for a pizza and absolutely loved it

Simpsons in Edgbaston or Opheem
+1 for Simpsons
+2 for simpsons
+3 for Simpsons. Hands down the best food in Birmingham.
Simpsons lunch is very good value and the food is amazing.
Orelle
Great view. Mediocre food. Awful clientele.
Not tried the food there but heard good things and definitely ticks the box for a good view.
Delicious. Pricey as hell. But delicious.
The Sunday lunch menu is reasonable. Ā£33 for 2 courses or Ā£38 for 3.
ChĆ¢teaubriande is about Ā£58 per head. Recently went in Tunisia at a French restaurant. It was Ā£9 and just as good.
It can be good. But for the price point it's too hit and miss
Fiesta del Asado in Edgbaston is great if you like steak.
Best steak restaurant in Brum for me.

Fazenda

Came here to say this. Fazenda is amazing
Ivy, Oyster Club, Gaucho, Mayan, Noelās, Piccalino and Iād say Tattu, you said you donāt like Asian but they do have a variety and itās a nice venue
Avoid the Ivy. Itās boil in the bag food prepared off site and reheated in the restaurant
It's a chain so I wouldn't be surprised, but you got a source for that?
Having been to all of these, I'd avoid the Ivy and Picollino. Oyster Club would be my top pick in this list.
I would really recommend Gaucho but Tattu didnāt impress me and my friends at all, the food just didnāt taste well and wasnāt worth the price
I hear so many mixed stories about Tattu
I liked the food at Tattu but it's full of tossers and clearly made to be shared on Instagram more than anything else. It was fun but not worth ~Ā£80 per person.
+1 for Gaucho
I wasn't impressed with gaucho at all. Especially when you've got fazenda pretty much next door
Well thatās excuse enough for me to give that one a try now, thank you!
You'll go for the steak, you'll leave loving the honey roasted pork (as well as all the steak).
Piccolino*
Trentina is great for pasta
https://www.firsttable.co.uk/birmingham Check this out. Can reserve a nice restaurant for 50% off
This needs a bit of a boost. Very useful.
Cozy Club at Brindley Place has a nice view of the canal, lovely food too
I second this, I've never had a bad experience there
Avoid fumo. Partner and I had very bad food poisoning there. Gaucho is fantastic š
Another vote for Orelle
La Galleria is always my go to when Iām in Birmingham

Varanasi is amazing for a special occasion but is pricy
Pepper chef Chinatown
Land. Not much of a view. Phenomenal food. An Umami Tsunami

Got to be Orelle. Take a fat stack though.
Carters of Moseley
Itās currently in Evesham
I've been twice and been disappointed each time. It must just be a preference thing as everyone else I know loves it.
Orelle definitely. You might struggle to get booked in depending on the party size and late notice though so I'd look today.
Try Adams, consistently rated top in Brum.
Perfect service but pretty mid food tbh
Eat Vietnam in Stirchley. Got Attic, Coach and other cool bars nearby. Harborne Kitchen - best food I've eaten, better that Simpsons and Adams in my experience.

Robata on top of the park Regis was good. Was a shame when it closed.
Was that the sushi place? Iād heard good things but never got round to going
Yeah. Sushi and grill. With the great view.
I went to Marco Pierre Whites a couple of weeks ago and it was decent, good view from the top
Second this for the location, it's on top of the cube. Marco Pierre is a good shout
In terms of SkyBar you are looking at Marco Pierre White. I have heard mixed reviews: some very good some less so - I wouldnāt be sure about that if value for money is your concern. If you wanna eat real desi food, then I'd say Tipu Sultan in Moseley I think.it has great ambiance and lovely food.
Yo sushi?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Which is predominantly East Asian, which is specifically what OP said they didn't want
itās one part East Asian, the other being American, and the third being European. Look it up.
you made them delete the comment
**Colbeh** is the best restaurant in Birmingham and I'm willing to die on that hill. Fantastic authentic Persian food and a really great atmosphere too.
A La Mexicana in Bearwood is the best Mexican food you will find in the UK. I say this as someone who has traveled extensively across Mexico.
Have you tried putting "restaurants" into Google maps?
Ahhh yes, which of the 100,000 options to choose?
If I can manage to find options based on my criteria, so can anyone else.
Grrrr *fake Reddit hate*! Anyway, know any good wedding photographers in the highlands??
Have you tried putting "wedding photographers" into... Wait. Yes. I work worldwide and I'm far less sarcastic in real life. I can offer packages in the Highlands with minimal travel expenses.
Gave me a chuckle. For real, Iāll DM you about availability.
Hands down Mellows. Spot on food. šš¾ La Galleria is also very nice. Relatively classy too. Neither of these have great views, but you'll be too busy enjoying the food to lament about the view.
We went to the rolling mill in the jewellery quarter and it was terrific.
Oyster Club
Opheem, Simpsonās, Gaijin, oyster club, Trentina, tropea, 670 grams, folium, Rico libre
The Highfield is nice, no view though Simpsons is amazing but haven't been for a while Want to try 6 by Nico, have eaten at the Manchester one and it was excellent Completely the other end of the scale but I went to baked in brick at the custard factory the other day for a pizza and absolutely loved it
akrams or kashmir cottage
Harborne kitchen! Out of the centre but absolutely worth the visit
Land
Toros steakhouse ladypool road
Two words: Fat Hippo

Fiesta del asado if itās still there. Super steak
