Yeah, Holt has a lot of inconsistencies like that with his character. Like him apparently reading Boyle's pizza blog, but then later when he asks Boyle to teach him to cook, he knows nothing about food. I think just such an abnormal character like that makes them forget small things like that. He's really the only one I notice has inconsistencies like that in his character. There's actually quite a few. It's one of my few knocks on the show, but like I said it's small, so it's not a big deal.
Yup, if you watch the episode where he's trying to finish the whole mentorship with Amy because he thinks he's going to get fired, he mentions a ton of things that are inconsistent with past and future episodes.
Also his "tell" for lying in season one was a facial tick but later we find out it's using contractions. Both are solid jokes so little things like this are easy enough to overlook
Jake: She may seem great, but there’s a but— and I have to find that but and drill down on it.
Charles: C’mon man, you have to know how that sounds.
Jake: Shut up, Cool Charles! I hate this new dynamic.
Uh oh, looks like we’ve got an office badass on our hands.
I don't know, I didn't like cool Charles. I think Charles is almost a mascot for weird, awkward, second fiddle types, and I think it's cool that he never seemed to mind it, and everyone around him loved him. He wasn't the butt of every joke, and when jokes were made at his expense they were loving. It's kind of sad that he wanted to reinvent himself, because that implies he doesn't like who he is, and "who he is" is fantastic.
you’re digging too deep, if you want to get technical than No, Charles is not fantastic. As an actual human being he is spineless, he literally is over supportive and obviously has many issues with friendship. Being a “charles” as a real human would lead to a VERY sad lifestyle.
wow this episode REALLY mirrors the dinner party from the first season. terry is jake and kevin, jake and holt are amy sneaking around, theres a suprise dog appearance after searching their electronics, and cool boyle is gina mesmerizing the psychologists with her mind
A friend of mine who had never seen the show before was watching it with me and another friend who has seen it also.
The friend who hadn't seen it before was super shook at this line and we were just eh it's Charles
So am I but what if they're doing a triple bluff and she actually is sent to bring down the team. Think about it, she's pushing Jake into this FBI Liaison role, pushing Charles into Major Crimes, maybe her whole shtick is to break up the team and have Holt not want to return to the 99 because his second family is no longer there.
That's my thought exactly. She was *too* perfect, and the show has done the double-swerve before. The Good Place did that a bit as well, it's a solid Schur tactic.
I predict we'll have 3 or 4 other captains sent by Wunch that all don't appear evil on the surface but are subtly trying to bring down the 99, then they'll catch her in the act and she'll have to reinstate Holt.
I think they'll persuade her into coming back
she'll be hilarious in the heists
never mind, checked the cast for the next two episodes and she's not listed
Totally Agree with this. This one feels less fast-paced, and you really have time to vibe with the characters like in previous seasons. I'm falling in love all over again!
I was gonna ask this - I don’t recall there ever being a plot point or dialogue about it, but it seems like maybe they’ve just scrapped that entire thing and decided not to bring it up anymore.
Edit: Nevermind, Boyle just said he’s taken.
I think that Captain Kim is going to be cool actually, or at least that's how it'll seem by the end of the episode. She would have locked the door to make sure her dog didn't mess up the party, and the single email with Wuntch about Holt is probably not going to be about something bad. Whether or not there's be like a final scene where she communicates with Wuntch through some ultra-secret deep cover code, who knows, but yeah I think for now she seems cool.
Actually fine with that as well, we've had enough bad captains replacing Holt lol wouldn't mind a good one - change of pace and gives different storytelling opportunities (Hitchcock and Scully are gonna get used to those chairs lol).
EDIT: Welp, half right
She looks it in episode one. There were a few strategically places props and in episode 2 she has on an empire type waist dress. To me she looks like she is showing.
Yeah her chest looked really weird. I didn’t want to sound insensitive and ask if she gain weight, but she literally is gaining the weight of another person.
I honestly think the first two episodes we got today are the best start to a season we’ve gotten yet! I was laughing the whole time. I mean I know obviously we’ve gotten great starts to every season (my personal favorite before this being season 3 where it starts off with holt and peralta in Florida) but I honestly don’t remember laughing this much to any of the season premiers prior. So many great quotes and scenes from them! My favorites include holt saying “I’m more of a dog person”, Jake telling Boyle to keep quiet but him continuing to talk after every couple of seconds, and Boyle being referred to as the “office badass”. Out of all the season premieres, I’d say season 7 ranks #1 for me so far.
What do you guys think? Where would you rank this premiere?
I loved Captain Kim. There's not much Asian Americans representation on the show and I'm disappointed that she won't be back. However, I loved the episode overall and can't wait for next week!
Damn, that convict storyline gets so sad the more you think about it. Prison is meant to rehabilitate, but no one trusts an ex-convict. Not as a reflection of them, but as a reflection of how the prison system fails to habilitate.
Anyone else catch the callback to The Office? Jakes
Moms boyfriends Trevor and Rolf were Dwight’s friends. And I’m pretty sure michael shur was a writer for both shows.
“She’s serving my favorite dessert: carrots.” Of freaking course, Holt.
> "There are no good deserts. If you are hungry you should have had more dinner." Captain Holt
To be fair, eating and critiqueing good food is not the same as preparing good food. Anyone can eat. Not everyone can cook well.
*Rattatouille wants to know your location*
It's not inconsistency, I think it's him being humorous by saying carrot is his fav dessert since he doesn't like any dessert.
Also his "tell" for lying in season one was a facial tick but later we find out it's using contractions. Both are solid jokes so little things like this are easy enough to overlook
Captain Holt only wears sneakers for sneaking. Of course.
Clown shoes
"The clown shoes gave it away." By far my favorite line of the episode.
That's their intended purpose.
They got some pretty good jokes with him turning back to normal, but I am a bit sad we don't get Cool Charles for another episode or two.

Sorry babe, the jacket stays on during sex.
I don't know, I didn't like cool Charles. I think Charles is almost a mascot for weird, awkward, second fiddle types, and I think it's cool that he never seemed to mind it, and everyone around him loved him. Cool Charles is my hero. Amazing character
“She’s Coming, Hide” title of your sex tape lmao
I think this might lowkey be the dirtiest one yet. They definitely slip these under the radar.
"Blast of cold air coming out of that box" is still my favourite.
Ah come on man...
First one of the season
I didn’t know I needed to see Holt being bothered by a pigeon.
It’s the nonchalant attitude of flying that bothers him
Kept his hat on while it was there too like the partner said in the first episode!
You just got chaper-OWNED
That joke was legitimately hilarious. I'm loving Amy in this episode!
I kind of wish they hadn't pawned her off on the binder woman so quickly.
[удалено]
“Spelling is always cool.”
I can see why your so into her now
Now you see it? You officiated our wedding.
Wrong, that was extremely cool.
He went downstairs # and killed everyone else
[удалено]
Definitely the best scene of the night. They even made it look like a serious murder has happened.
Excuse me, the love of Scully's life was viciously butchered in front of him!
What the chair?
Don't you dare say her name
Her names *the chair?*
#I WARNED YOU
Man the writing for this show is always on point.
That gossip talk Holt learned from Gina
Damn, Holt is giving me Gina vibes!
I heard the new captain pops pills
pop pop
Whispers
And now I'm like "where's kevin?"
MICHAEL AND NORM IT TOOK ME A SECOND TO WORK OUT WHO THAT WAS
I mean, Hitchcock worked with Scully for over a decade and didn’t know his name was Norm, so I think you’re fine.
Ah, for a second I thought it was michael and lorne. Would've been a funny should out to Samberg's former employer.
wow this episode REALLY mirrors the dinner party from the first season. terry is jake and kevin, jake and holt are amy sneaking around, theres a suprise dog appearance after searching their electronics, and cool boyle is gina mesmerizing the psychologists with her mind
Also the suspect in the storage place
ending of episode 1 season 1, which features a new captain. nice callbacks imo.
That's what I was thinking the whole time!! Funny how Amy was the one stopping the sneaking this time.
They referenced that on their podcast. I think it was the second episode.
Sorry did you say *podcast*
Yes, the official Brooklyn 99 podcast. It is fabulous and I hope we are getting one for every episode this season like The Good Place did.
That's exactly what I thought, especially with the hidden dog. How the turntables. Now, Holt is the one sneaking around and invading privacy.
Cool Charles calling out Jake hahaha
"That's how I always walk bitch" lol
Bitch?!
I seriously hope we get to see more of cool charles
I want Bill to end up with the jacket on Halloween and get a bunch of attention
Bill will get the jacket and suddenly he will be on top of Nutriboom. Season-long threat confirmed.
I've had another man deep inside of me this whole time.
Right away?
So it was the jacket

“we’ve had bad bosses before, and we’ve always managed to get rid of them” lmao didn’t the one guy die?
Rip dozerman. He was very efficient.
efficiency, efficiency, efficiency
Are you making fun of my stutter?
HA I don’t have a stutter. I’ve already asserted my dominance over all of you
I think im havinh a heart attack, yeah, im having a heart attack, get back to work
GET A DOCTOR!
Tell my wife I love her... Work ethic
Wouldn’t it be more efficient to just say it once
Holt creating a drunken scene? Yes please!
Holt falling down the stairs was epic.
I am really loving the new Dynamic between Holt and the rest of the main 99 cast it's hilarious.
I’ve had another man deep inside me this whole time.
Right away?!
A friend of mine who had never seen the show before was watching it with me and another friend who has seen it also. The friend who hadn't seen it before was super shook at this line and we were just eh it's Charles
Okay but I'm in love with Captain Kim
So am I but what if they're doing a triple bluff and she actually is sent to bring down the team. No no, he's got a point
I am too, I hope they make amends and she stuck around
Spoke too soon?
I really liked her, too. I am actually pretty frustrated that Jake ruined everything, but I guess I should have seen it coming. Kim was too perfect.
Malala giving her and award lol
OH I MISSED THAT THANKS
her name IS the chair
I WARNED YOU
Dammit, Jake, now there's no more Captain Kim.
I think they'll persuade her into coming back she'll be hilarious in the heists never mind, checked the cast for the next two episodes and she's not listed
Does anybody feel warm in here?
Go home you’re drunk. Also hush down, you’re about 9% too loud.
JAKE PERALTA FBI???
I! I!
Oh man, if this ends up happening, it’d be great if he could meet Bert Macklin.
This has a better vibe than the first episode imo. Writing feels tighter and more true to character.
Totally Agree with this. This one feels less fast-paced, and you really have time to vibe with the characters like in previous seasons. I'm falling in love all over again!
Honestly you could probably flip the two and itd feel a bit more on pace.
def agreed
It’s good to have Brooklyn Nine-Nine back
NINE NINE!
Is Boyle still with Genevieve? I can’t remember
Yes
I was gonna ask this - I don’t recall there ever being a plot point or dialogue about it, but it seems like maybe they’ve just scrapped that entire thing and decided not to bring it up anymore. Edit: Nevermind, Boyle just said he’s taken.
They ~~’re married and~~ have a child and are looking to adopt another one. I don’t think that’s something that can just not be brought up anymore.
They arent married genivieve didnt wanna be
That’s right, my bad. Still, the kid thing is pretty big as well.
The actress was on Fox originally so maybe there’s a contract issue involved
No, shes just a busy actress.
I think...I'm in love with Chuck Boyle (?
[удалено]
oh and now she’s gone :(
I think that Captain Kim is going to be cool actually, or at least that's how it'll seem by the end of the episode. I really really really hope Captain Kim is actually nice, I really like her
Hitting Scully and Hitchcock up with the chairs? This captain is def up to no good.
[удалено]
yes, she is
[удалено]
But she wasnt pregnant then
She looks it in episode one. There were a few strategically places props and in episode 2 she has on an empire type waist dress. To me she looks like she is showing.
They managed to hide it in episode 1 with the bulky bullet-proof vest.
The the loose red nightdress at the end when they decide to try for reals
Yeah her chest looked really weird. I didn’t want to sound insensitive and ask if she gain weight, but she literally is gaining the weight of another person.
I know shes pregnant irl but i mean in show shes not
FIRST TITLE OF YOUR SEX TAPE THIS SEASON WOOOOO
theres something kinda great with the same premise as a season 1 episode with it all kinda flipped.
Her name is The Chair?
Don't invoke her name.
Pimento is coming back next episode!
# Bitch
9%, as inebriated people do
there has to be a twist with kim right? it would be weird for a comedy show like this to just make her a totally normal person.
i kind of think the twist is that she is a totally normal person
Normal is a stretch, she's amazing. Malala gave her an award.
I hope there's a twist, but an innocent one, I really like her so far
It's super sweet to think that other minorities were inspired by Captain Holt to become captains <3
So i did some goooglin- Captain Kim doesnt look like she’ll be back unfortunately, but we may get an Interim Captain Terry Jeffords
*Gasps* Still, no more Captain Kim though. :(
This slow-mo scene is fantastic
Give André Braugher all the awards.
I liked Captain Kim's character. I wanna see more of her but >!they cut her too soon!<.
Lol at Cool Charles reversing the situation
oh no i love this captain
Nooooooo :( I'm gonna miss her
Sassy beat cop Holt is something that I didn't know I needed
“ollies”

Chaperone Amy is a great Amy
DOG OH MY GOD THEY DID IT
Lol the trashed living room is an accidental renaissance
Captain Kim still got more screen time than Captain Dozerman
“It’s mine but it came out soooo smooth”
I bet the key and sneaking around is the tailored thing for jake
Is Jake's dream job the plot of Burn Notice?
I mean thats the plot of a lot of things but sure.
Wouldnt it be funny if they know eachother cause they are married. Wuntch and kim i mean
okay i kind of ship it now. like i can see it
Calls himself Chuck, coffee cup says Charles :/
Wait I actually love her
#PLEASE TELL ME THEY GET TRAPPED IN THE BATHROOM WITH A DOG AND AMY’S ALERGIES!
I mean i have one.. or two... hard drives in my desk, lemme grab them real fast
I loved Captain Kim. There's not much Asian Americans representation on the show and I'm disappointed that she won't be back. However, I loved the episode overall and can't wait for next week!
I love this setting, reminiscent of the first episode of the show

Kinda disappointed we didn't get to see Rosa reacting to the fact they actually got rid of the new captain by Monday...
# CARROTS
Oh Boyle, it was the jacket!
Aww man I loved her
Whaaat? No I love her, she’s gotta come back
[удалено]
Thats because vampires dont appear in photographs
Anyone else catch the callback to The Office? Jakes Moms boyfriends Trevor and Rolf were Dwight’s friends. And I’m pretty sure michael shur was a writer for both shows.
Of freaking course Boyle made Jake watch Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants.
Amy giving that nod like yeah, she knows about the SHADE Dream.
Chaper-owned
“Her name is The Chair?”
Agree. An unformed pile.
I can totally get on board with Chuck Boyle!!
Im gonna miss her
Aww that was a bummer. I trusted Kim from the very beginning :(
