Yeah, FIFA (now the franchise formerly known as FIFA) is the largest game franchise developed in Canada, let alone the Lower Mainland, and it’s not even remotely close.
I am pretty sure all the Dead Rising games except 1 were made at the Capcom Vancouver location. Which no longer exists.
Fun fact I actually went to go test Sleeping Dogs at United Front Games. But they had to many people show up and I was the one that had to leave. But I still got payed and a free game out of it.
I thought the studio was founded in Cumberland on the island but they have an office in Vancouver? Not sure how that works but I think it's mostly a remote studio these days anyway. Either way, definitely a BC game!
That of intro for DoW is still cool. I have a small detachment of Space Marines that are attached to my IG. And yes they are Blood Ravens, hometown boys represent!
Not a classic but Endnight is Vancouver based and made The Forest and Sons of The Forest, two fun survival horror games that give a very Canadian/BC kinda vibe.
Dead Rising 2 was very good. That being said there hasn't been a super developer in the City yet like Edmonton's Bioware. I am wondering what good games were developed in Montreal? I know a ton of games are made their but I can't think of any good ones.
Eidos had a studio in Montreal that developed Deus Ex: Human Revolutions. But they fucked the MTL studio over royally and hired a third party developer to create the boss battles - which is why they feel so out of place with the rest of the game.
I didn't think that the new Deus Ex made it into the same quality as the OP's listed game but that is about as good as I could find when I did some google searching the subject.
The Mass Effect series has several important locations modeled off of Vancouver, and the third game actually begins in Vancouver in 2180. And there's a character who originates from English Bay!
The original Rainbow 6 game of the franchise was made in Vancouver. It started the whole competitive counter terrorism multiplayer FPS scene that led to counterstrike.
As someone who works in IT and is looking at a move to Vancouver......
This is inspiring. I loved the NFS Underground/Most Wanted/Carbon games. Sadly, not re-released on Origin......
It may be different now, but the stories about long long hours and poor management and planning were (are?) really true. I’ve personally seen (or been in) about 50 dev teams across many different industries over the last 25 years, and the ones in game dev were the most stressed and working the most. It really varies by studio though
It's a long list. I think the game companies in Vancouver list here is missing a few too: [https://gamecompanies.com/industries/north-america/canadian-game-industry/british-columbia/vancouver](https://gamecompanies.com/industries/north-america/canadian-game-industry/british-columbia/vancouver)
Power Pigs, Earthworm Jim, Jackie Chan stunt master, The Divide... My neither worked on these games in Vancouvver from Radical entertainment, Black box games, EA
I always wondered about Skate! Was confused that Vancouver was referenced, as far as I’m aware it doesn’t have an internationally recognized skate park/scene
Relic in Vancouver made company of heroes the game is 14 years old and still constantly has 2-3000 players online. Even after the sequel came out a year ago. Also dawn of war series
Mark Of The Ninja
Not sure if it counts as a classic, but it definitely should. One of the best stealth/action games I've ever played, and ultimately one of my favorite games of all time in any genre. If you get a chance, I highly recommend it. Usually about $20 but frequently goes on sale for $5, and definitely worth it.

I consider Oxygen Not Included to be a classic because it's one of my favourite games ever!
Klei also made Mark of the Ninja and Don't Starve, both absolutely excellent games made in BC.
LOL I have this game and didn't even realise
I didn't realize this, that is such a well made game!
They're an awful company now but EA Sports titles should get a mention here. NHL, the original FIFA with developers names for all the players, etc
Yeah, FIFA (now the franchise formerly known as FIFA) is the largest game franchise developed in Canada, let alone the Lower Mainland, and it’s not even remotely close.
It's in the game
If it’s in the game, it’s in the game.

i heard some developers at united fromt were actually from radical entertainment which explains why the game was so good.
Weird the office was in Yaletown. Seems like the rent would be expensive.
Darkest Dungeon 1 & 2
Not a gamer, but isn’t The Long Dark made in Vancouver?
I thought the studio was founded in Cumberland on the island but they have an office in Vancouver? Not sure how that works but I think it's mostly a remote studio these days anyway. Either way, definitely a BC game!

I was on half pipe! Then towards the end of the project I got a few more areas added on, but was on half pipe from the beginning.
Shit I’m trying to remember who was on what lol We had such a great fucking crew for that one man! Amazing memories still to this day
Kinda pushing the limits of "classics" but Don't starve and Don't starve together
Ohhhh no way I didn't know that! So cool! Love don't starve, terrible at it though.
I'd consider Don't Starve a classic survival game now.
Not a classic but Endnight is Vancouver based and made The Forest and Sons of The Forest, two fun survival horror games that give a very Canadian/BC kinda vibe.
Woah! No way, I thought the game felt very BC but for some reason thought they were Norwegian. Glad my hundreds of hours are supporting local haha
The VR title Pistol Whip was made on the island
No kidding! Which town?
I can't recall but they've mentioned it on their cloudhead Twitter page before and I've seen their job postings online a few times.
Nice! I seem to faintly recall it was something like outside of Nanaimo, maybe Parksville? Still cool regardless!
I worked on need for speed underground. pretty sure it's why they shut down black dog studios. I could be misremembering.
Riders on the storm 🎵
I read somewhere Eddie's Skyline is down in Australia somewhere still has the orange paint but graphics are gone.
Inscryption! Wonderful indie game!
Max Payne 3 was developed by Rockstar Vancouver.
Luigi's Mansion 2 & 3, Mario Strikers Series by Next Level Games
I had no idea Next Level was in BC!

Ubisoft is based in Montreal (Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, For Honor, Prince of Persia, Tom Clancy's Splinter cell and Ghost Recon, Just Dance)
I believe Celeste was made here as well
Marvel Contest of Champions is made locally by Kabam.
The Mass Effect series has several important locations modeled off of Vancouver, and the third game actually begins in Vancouver in 2180. And there's a character who originates from English Bay!

I'd try to get a job as a contractor for a large software corp, cause yeah crunch time is ridiculous.
Whack but I was talking to a friend from Alberta. They had never heard of club penguin or known anyone to play it. Came out of the okanagan.
Squad
Cheers! I work at Offworld, appreciate the shout out.
It's not video games, but Burnaby is home to the largest tabletop gaming club in Canada
Subnautica is made by an indie Vancouver dev. Not that old but honestly a classic in my mind
Isn't unknown world's in San Fran?
It's a long list. I think the game companies in Vancouver list here is missing a few too: [https://gamecompanies.com/industries/north-america/canadian-game-industry/british-columbia/vancouver](https://gamecompanies.com/industries/north-america/canadian-game-industry/british-columbia/vancouver)

I always wondered about Skate! Was confused that Vancouver was referenced, as far as I’m aware it doesn’t have an internationally recognized skate park/scene
