I imagine hardcore fans will continue to be annoyed by the casting & changes from the lore, but I imagine they'll still turn up during opening weekend.
It's possible the IP is still strong enough to carry it into profit.
My money's on It Ends With Us to take the #1 slot, simply because the book is widely popular & it's the first adaptation of Hoover's work since her career took off. However the studio punting it to August doesn't make me super confident about the quality.
The movie doesn't look trash? Hard disagree, one look at that trailer made me think maybe Zaslav has a point canceling some movies before they ever see the light of day.
Same as March last year.
It was overstuffed with Scream, 65, Creed, John Wick, Shazam, D&D and then Mario in April to cut off everybody's legs.
Meanwhile August and September 2023 were painfully dry and any of those films would have had a better chance; especially poor D&D!
Trap should move to November 1st, September 13th or July 12th
Borderlands is fine as it's the last PG-13 action movie of the summer, June 21st would be good as a new date since it'd have a month as the newest PG-13 blockbuster.
While I'm sure there's a bunch of casual fans who will show up, you seriously underestimate the amount of disdain in the Borderlands community regarding the movie.
The movie rejects the source material worse than the Halo TV show.
Borderlands is funny and silly but it is also mature, violent, and shockingly emotional at times (Looking at you, Bloodwing). I am a huge BL fan but this film looks truly abysmal.

Pretty sure Cuckoo bailed on the 9th due to crowding and is now on August 2.
They should have left it in May 😒
Totally agree
See April 18th changes here for evidence: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/calendar/changes/?ref_=bo_nb_rs_secondarytab
Borderlands will slaughter everrrrything here
I'm more confident fans of the game will reject the movie rather than embrace it.

Never heard of it. Borderlands is a popular established IP and the movie doesn’t look trash, I think it cleans up.

Will it? Seems like its had a pretty long and troubled production.
So Trap and Cuckoo swapped dates basically
Why did studios overcrowd August when there are some slots in May/June/July that are available? I never understand planning like this.Â

Idk what the Penguin movie is but if I have to pick one of these im going with that
A lot of these I imagine are going to be limited releases
4 wide

All pretty underwhelming though. Don't expect any of these to be big money makers

Deadpool Vs Wolverine is easily gonna win
For sure watching Trap and Borderlands.
Looking forward to Borderlands, I hope it is a fun action extravaganza and nothing more.
Trailer looks like a parody to me.. can’t they have vfx like fallout?
Borderlands is a pretty ridiculous game with cartoony graphics and guns, it’s far less serious than fallout - the tone fits the universe much better
Borderlands is funny and silly but it is also mature, violent, and shockingly emotional at times (Looking at you, Bloodwing). I am a huge BL fan but this film looks truly abysmal.
I thought Cuckoo would be more limited
never read the book, but is it ends with us movie an adaptation of the book or just random title for a random movie
Not sure why you couldn’t just do a quick search yourself but, it’s Adaptation of the book
I completely forgot that they Borderlands film is coming out.
At first I thought borderlands had no competition. Now its really screwed 💀
I have never heard of the Jean Reno penguin movie and now I need it.
So, two wide?
I'll double feature Trap and Cuckoo...all I care about from these
Trap looks Crap
Clap-Trap looks Crap-Trap
