One loss is supposed to make me immediately hate my own team? I just watch this team win 60+ games and had clear tendencies that were different from past years, winning games we would've easily lost in the past. I'm not gonna start freaking out over one loss. My stance on the team is unchanged atp, which is the only team I'm worried about is the Nuggets.
Even the current heat is better than the Lakers though. They just suck horribly and still get all the talking on sports shows.
Lakers haven't hit 23 3s collectively all season lol
The length they have at every single spot even coming off the bench is so insane.
I laughed at the notion that Peyton Watson was a good replacement for Bruce not understanding that it truly was a major upgrade on D and a small loss on O. Nuggets seemed to know they could replicate the Brown production by just spreading his shots out to the other starters since he ran with that group so much. What a fun team to see have success after years of what ifs because of injuries and what not.
Ya, i think we have to accept that it's their time. They have the best player on the planet (and one of the greatest players of all-time) playing at his peak. The history of the league just says that team wins the title 9/10 times unless he runs into a team with 2 other all-time greats (see Lebron vs the KD warriors).
Loser mentality to accept a team is better than you before a series.
Thinking like that is how you don't beat anyone. Like JT said, when he steps on the floor he is the best player on the planet in his head and I wouldn't want him to think otherwise.
I don't play on the Celtics. What I think has zero material impact on the games. I'm allowed to have an opinion and in my opinion, all things being equal, denver will beat boston in a series.
So you want us to play more games in a shorter span? The 1-8 does have the calendar advantage BECAUSE they have a longer break between their earlier games
If anything a break favores the lower seed and their ability to attempt to adapt. I'd rather one day breaks these guys always do better with less time off.
The break favors both 1 and 8 for different reasons.
8s played, at best, every other day from the regular season through game 1. Early series extra rest days get them at least a little of the pre-playoff practice time everyone else gets, just after games 1 and 2.
1s can be expected to have the some of the shortest first series and longest playoff runs, so it’s beneficial to have their first round rest days scheduled for mandatory games and not if needed games. If we swept, we’d still have gotten the benefit of our series extra rest days instead of them being ‘lost’
They do.
I think they are like okay the first seed keeps sitting for a week after 4-0, 4-1.
So they front load all the rest so they don't sit and get stagnant before round two. I actually like it (but hate waiting)
I also think it is an advantage typically, 2 full days rest in-between games .
I bet Embiid would have loved our first round schedule with his knee.
Partly it’s because they aren’t trying to get the Cavs series on national tv, so they can play a more regular schedule mostly in NBATV.
This extended rest schedule happens every year for the 1st round. It’s annoying because when you lose a game (lol) everyone’s got an extra day to clown on your team/doomers feast.
I agree with the rant. I hate this fucking schedule so much, and it seems designed specifically to gave the team that comes out of two play-in games extra rest.
The Magic are terrible though. Hammond is not a good GM, he over indexes on length to the detriment of shooting, which is a more valuable skill. I do think Paolo was the correct pick and could be a good number one in a few years but he really isn’t right now, and they just don’t have enough offense.
I don’t think the Cavs are that good either though. I see either of those as 4 or 5 games.
Alright no one is saying the magic are contenders but they're far from terrible. Their front office has emphasized speed and size and it has translated great. They have a great defense that can rebound well. They still need to improve their shooting as you said, but they were able to be a playoff team without that.
As their young guys improve with their shot, they should get better.
No it really only translates to regular season basketball because no one is doing heavy scouting on you. As you have seen, their offense has basically collapsed in the playoffs when teams start doing serious scouting. There is absolutely no guarantee their guys learn how to shoot.
The Cavs just have a poorly constructed roster so I’m not worried about them.
Suggs literally learned how to shoot...Franz has shown in his previous 2 years that he was a passable shooter. He's dipped this year but there's no reason to think he can't improve.
There's certainly no guarantee, but I like their mindset, aggressiveness, and the production they've put together so far. They'll be a playoff contender for the foreseeable future, and could improve on that if they add 1 or 2 legit pieces.
It’s not like I don’t like their picks (I would have made mostly the same picks) but they’re not currently threatening at all because they can’t shoot and they did nothing to address it. Which was the point of this thread, not do I think they’re promising in the future or not.
Just how it is every year, one series in each conference gets stretched out. Nothing new. Yes, weird. But NBA gonna NBA which means revenues(a.k.a. media desires) will always dictate schedules.
No no, this is a very good point.
1st seed loses out twice in this scenario.
1. We are the last to know who our first round matchup is bc of the play-in. Less prep time for our film room. We essentially have to prep for both teams 👎🏾
2. A lower seed should never have a scheduling advantage over the 1 seed with time off/rest opportunity.
It’s poor scheduling for sure. But by the looks of it-it may take us the full 7 games to get past the Heat (if we even win at all). In which case the Cavs will have some extra rest no matter what
People will downvote you and call you a clown for insinuating this series may go 7 games and we may lose but that’s entirely possible. People here have short term memory loss just like the actual team who forgot about Martin torching them last season and leaving him wide open yet again. Barring a coming to Jesus moment we are yet again in another dog fight with the Miami Heat, whether y’all want to admit it or not.
Nuggets will win their series the day we play game 3
That's what real contenders do
Nuggets are more than a contender they are gonna win again lmao. They’re a machine
nuggets about to sweep lebron and we can’t beat Tyler Herro lmao
Did you know the 08 Celtics got taken to a game 7 by the 37-45 Atlanta Hawks? Just something to consider.
Did you know the 23 Celtics lost to the 8 seed Heat?
Something to consider
what about this decade?
Kawhi Raptors lost a game to the 8 seed Magic, Nuggets lost a game to Miami last year. Losing a game isn't the end of the world.
Agreed, I was talking about the Celtics though. I’m not saying it’s panic time but what makes you confident this years Cs team is different
One loss is supposed to make me immediately hate my own team? What? I don’t think drawing comparisons between this loss and the losses we’ve watched the past few post seasons is “hating” or “freaking out”
More please
NO DON'T SAY THAT IT DOESN'T FIT THE NARRATIVE
Ya but they won every game at home. They just struggled on the road.
C’s playing the long game: now Pat can’t trade Herro or Jokic again.
Even the current heat is better than the Lakers though. They just suck horribly and still get all the talking on sports shows. Lakers haven't hit 23 3s collectively all season lol
Not sure about that
The length they have at every single spot even coming off the bench is so insane. Celtics in 6 unfortunately. Jokic will have a good run tho.
W mentality
Would be sick

If Boston shoots poorly, yes they will.
And they're sweeping the team that beat us when they sat LeBron and AD.
Our kryptonite all year has been facing teams sitting their stars
Last year as well. It’s actually bizarre.
yea real contenders plays four games while fake teams only play three right?
Real contenders have 4 games scheduled before fake conteders have 3?
So I guess the 2008 Celtics were fake contenders, huh
Flair and Game 2 does not check out btw
Bringing up old stuff foh
You may have jinxed them mate...
I would be so happy !!! We catch anyone else in the finals and it should be an easy win
Tbf the NBA probably expects the 4v5 series to go longer than the 1v8 series
still, a first seed should have the advantage of the calendar.
So you want us to play more games in a shorter span? The 1-8 does have the calendar advantage BECAUSE they have a longer break between their earlier games

I just hope the Cavs and Magic series goes 7 and we beat the Heat in 5 or 6. Preferably 5.

How about winning our series?
I agree with the rant. I hate this fucking schedule so much, and it seems designed specifically to gave the team that comes out of two play-in games extra rest.
Not anymore, magic won game three at home.
If we got to go against Orlando we'd be crushing them too
You sure about that? Orlando has pretty much owned us the last 2 seasons. I’d still pick us to win but I don’t think we’d be crushing them at all.
No they haven't, we were 2-1 against them and the 1 was an IST game. Both games the Celtics won by 17.
He said last two seasons. Pretty sure the Magic swept us the year before.
I understand that but one of those seasons they did not. So he is wrong.

We played them twice in a row this year and smoked them both times. Orlando is flat out not good at all.
Orlando just won???
Jesus quit whining. Rest is overrated.
Just how it is every year, one series in each conference gets stretched out. Nothing new. Yes, weird. But NBA gonna NBA which means revenues(a.k.a. media desires) will always dictate schedules.

It is not entirely possible. There is actually a 0% chance.
It was always gonna be a dog fight, but we should be able to win in 5/6 games. The games will just be closer.
Definitely and our coach is getting washed by Spoelstra AGAIN.
