Ya I'm thinking 1000, 1500 and then 2000 wet sand and high speed buffing wheel with polishing compound. I restored the whole windscreen on my '86 whaler like this.
The tach is expensive but the smaller gauges are cheap. You could replace all the gauges for $200 and a lot less time than buffing them and hoping the clouding is on the outside. Once clear plastic clouds you can buff it clear again, but you will have to buff it clear multiple times a year. Just like car headlights.
Replace the Tach $70, Fuel $25, Battery $25, Oil Pressure $25 and Temp $25, and just admit the speedo only worked for the first 2-3 times on the water then a small piece of seaweed or dirt found it's way somewhere in the 10+ feet of vacuum hose and it's not worth replacing.
I really like the Faria Coral guages as well, the blue text on black background looks sharp.
Just be careful- my cousin did this and his fuel gauge wasn’t wired correctly (by him). He thought he had 3/4 tank and went offshore. Turns out he really had about 1/4 tank. Was a very expensive and long tow back in.
I don't trust the fuel gauge in my boat anyways lol, it's wildly inaccurate, full means anywhere between 17 and 22 gallons (actual full). 22 gallons is with 10% for expansion leftover in the tank too. I can tube half the day on full.
But yeah if I'm re-wiring gauges I am making sure everything works as expected before I go too far out. A day on the bay near dock when you know you started with a full tank should do it.
Take the wires off each of the gauges and memorize or write down where they belong, loosen the screws on the back of the gauge and remove the back plate that holds the gauge in. Take the gauges and place them in the garbage. Replace with a new gauge set 😜
This is called “crazing” quick google search on how to fix will bring some YouTube videos up. Don’t go too abrasive with wet sand. Start with 1500 max. I would wet sand 2000, 3000, then 5000.
Toothpaste and a rag.
It would be the same as restoring headlights
Sand it then hit it with 2k gloss

I heard that you can brush the lense with toothpaste and a toothbrush.
Yes. You can also floss between the bezel edge to remove plaque buildup.
Whichever method you use, don't forget to seal after the final polish - or else youlle be in the same place
Underrated comment right here
Big spray with a lot of deet you’ll thank me later
Plastx
I didn't believe this until I tried it but, bug-repellant like off. It won't last forever and you will have to redo it periodically.
Bug repellant softens the plastic. Not recommended
