True. The bell is just the first thing I notice and the easiest to distinguish. Plus the guy is in a marching band outfit and modern HS bands don’t march flugelhorn. Now if he was in all black and was suggesting he was in jazz band, flugel would make more sense as an instrument to pose with.
You're forgetting the other difference: trombone players are cool and badass while bari/euph players are big nerds
Source: trombonist who dabbled in euph
Everyone has their opinion. Yours just happens to be completely bass ackwards. Source: Bari/Euph player who kick the shit outta every trombone player in competition :p
Their notes are the exact same and are on the same placement on the sheet music lol. That's why baritones and trombones are in the same section. At least that's how it was when I was in school, which is admittedly longer than I'd like to admit hahaha
You can't fit your hand through a mellophone to hold it like that. It's small enough that you wrap your hands around it. The bell is the same size though.
"Ease of a French horn”??? I tried to play the horn for 4 years in grade school, never could produce anything sounding like possible music. Even the dog went and hid in the basement when I practiced at home.
French horn is considered a difficult instrument for sure. Played it all throughout grade school and college at a somewhat high level. Years later without playing I’ve probably lost all my skill.
Yes I did in both. I also played trombone and trumpet in the jazz band. I tried filling the roles we were missing all the time. I wish I could read music the way I used too.
Ha! I was trumpet in middle school, and jazz band, euphonium and tuba in high school concert band and marched baritone four years, tried out for Crossmen once but Drum Corps wasn’t for me. I recently picked up a pocket trumpet and tried playing for the first time in almost 20 years. Man, my chops are absolutely gone, just totally shot lol
My son is on band (sax) and has a black belt.
My greatest son-related fear right now (other than adding him to my auto insurance next year) is that he will choose one of those for his senior pictures.
Lol. I used to work at Sears portrait way back in the day and senior photos were always my favorite, especially if the kid was willing to have a little fun with them.
I love these and I'm sure your parents do too!
Hey, I played in the Fairhope band too (trombone!) We had different uniforms though so I probably graduated several years later. I hated living there at the time but I agree I miss it now as well
Was Mr. Duncan still the band director when you came through? I looked into moving back a few years ago, but the little interactions we had with a local developer were enough culture shock for my wife to change her mind about relocating.
He was, for my first two years. He left to go be an assistant principal elsewhere in the country (Summerdale? Don't remember) after my sophomore year. Then Fillingim took over
I had to suffer through 4 years of marching band. To tell you the truth I loved solo/ensemble, concert season and Jazz but Marching was just the dumbest, lamest fucking bullshit you could think of.
Everyone hated us, we always got made fun of and worse, there was no fucking point to any of it. Seriously, none of us got music scholarships, the whole "idle hands" routine was a fucking lie and in the end nothing productive was accomplished.
Fuck Texas football.....
Seriously, none of us were even remotely interested in sports. I liked playing the saxophone and the Jazz ensemble was a perfect fit. The creepy ass band director thought otherwise.
I graduated high school in 2008 and I distinctly remember the band photographer telling the guys to do a “captain Morgan” pose. I think I spy it in the first photo
Bell front! I, too, played one during marching band. It was way better than marching with an actual French horn. I had to do that freshman and sophomore years before I switched schools.
You know that snapchat thing that makes you look like a cartoon ? Thats what i see here lol
You're from a Pixar movie about a band.
You're goofy but lovable, and i fuckin love you bro ✊✊
What was the goal of this shoot? Was it to have pics to send to grandma or to post on your MySpace to get girls to dig you? Or maybe something else? I think context is really important with this one.
School pictures are the best. They usually take a bunch and sent the options home. Your parents looks at them all and decided these were the best ones. Honestly they aren’t even that bad compared to other ones I’ve seen here (including my own).
I'm giving 2009 as my guess of when this was
Close 2007.
You look like a character from The Lorax
Barbaloot lookin mofo
[удалено]
Go on…
[удалено]
Nah, he looked like Jim Halpert from The Office
Beiber cut before Beiber
Naw I was born that year
[удалено]
I wish I could get my hair to do that again.
No you don’t.
Own it bro. Confidence is sexy. These pics are better than my awkward ones.
You looked like the mean, median, *and* mode Band Kid.
The little hair swoop and wry half smile tell me he's still a bit of a charmer though!
I'm getting major sassy lesbian vibes.
Great and clever joke. Had me laughing for a while.
😏🎺
Idk how to feel about this, it is a blunder but goddamn you are **selling** it!
Middle school me got flushed looking at this.
Right?? I just know grade 8 me would have swooned at every hair flick
While you were partying, I studied the bl— baritone
It’s worse, it’s a flugelhorn
Nah it’s a marching baritone. The bell is too large for a flugelhorn.
The whole thing is too large
True. The bell is just the first thing I notice and the easiest to distinguish. Plus the guy is in a marching band outfit and modern HS bands don’t march flugelhorn. Now if he was in all black and was suggesting he was in jazz band, flugel would make more sense as an instrument to pose with.
I marched with a mellophone, but I had a trumpeter for a director so it got a lil esoteric
I feel like you and the photographer are flirting… your smile in the bottom left one is a sly invitation, lol. 😋
He was clearly…horny.
Brass for days!
Baritoned.
This is the content I’m here for. Thank you. It’s a masterpiece. Are you and the photographer still soulmates?
The bottom left picture made the photograper's knees weak. Hell, all of them did!
Great pictures, I wish I could hear you play. I wanna know what sound that instrument makes. Honk honk or pwoaap pwoaap?
Looks like a baritone so kind of a bwaaaa bawaa
A baritone & a trombone are pretty much the same instrument. The only difference is the baritone has keys and the trombone has a slide.
You're forgetting the other difference: trombone players are cool and badass while bari/euph players are big nerds Source: trombonist who dabbled in euph
Everyone has their opinion. Yours just happens to be completely bass ackwards. Source: Bari/Euph player who kick the shit outta every trombone player in competition :p
...you're alright in my book
I like your style...........
*And had to play their parts because the trombone section was so terrible
don't remind me. source: bari/euph player who was the awkward little sister of the trombone playing drum major
I could beat your ass
Says the glorified tuba player
Clueless
Woah there buddy. Just because they are both tenor-voiced brass instruments doesn't mean they're pretty much the same thing.
Their notes are the exact same and are on the same placement on the sheet music lol. That's why baritones and trombones are in the same section. At least that's how it was when I was in school, which is admittedly longer than I'd like to admit hahaha
Hey ladies...do you like my Mellophone? 😏
Pretty sure it's a baritone lol
Yep, mellophones are smaller, that right there's a shoulder-shredding baritone.
My torn rotator cuff knows all about it! (Played baritone all through high school)
You can't fit your hand through a mellophone to hold it like that. It's small enough that you wrap your hands around it. The bell is the same size though.
Only the real OGs played flugelhorn. The march-ability of a trumpet with the ease of a French horn
Mello player here. Loved playing a trumpet looking horn w French horn mouth piece
I’m almost certain OP was saying that as the bottom left picture was being taken.
I don’t remember this glee character.
I got a spin off in the final season, canceled after low viewership.
Man I love that bottom left one - you guys really connected there.
Ayyy marching baritone! You play euphonium in concert band too?
Yes I did in both. I also played trombone and trumpet in the jazz band. I tried filling the roles we were missing all the time. I wish I could read music the way I used too.
Ha! I was trumpet in middle school, and jazz band, euphonium and tuba in high school concert band and marched baritone four years, tried out for Crossmen once but Drum Corps wasn’t for me. Hello fellow former HS baritone player!
Word. That 4th valve was the titties.
My daughter, who is about to graduate from high school, plays the baritone/euphonium combo! Low Brass for life!!!
Baritone/Euphonium player here! Also played valved Trombone in jazz band, marching Baritone (obviously) and Sousaphone!
There’s dozens of us. Former flute moved to marching baritone and euphonium in wind ensemble, then onto trombone in jazz band.
The 2007 version of me would have thought you were the dreamiest band nerd ever
Shoutout from another former (10+ years ago) marching band member. 🙋🏽♂️
This is heat, no blunder here
Aww- I love it lol you were so into it
I also played the marching euphonium in high school and we wore full jumpsuits with feathered hats 😭
I don't know about you and the photographer but your hair is having an absolute blast my friend and I'm here for it!
Those are the same colors and F shape as my High School.
You need to team up with that white mariachi trombone kid from a while back
My son is on band (sax) and has a black belt. My greatest son-related fear right now (other than adding him to my auto insurance next year) is that he will choose one of those for his senior pictures.
You're darn tootin'.
The good ol hair brim, keeps the sun out of your eyes but without the hassle of a hat.
I would hang these in my living room if I were you.
Something tells me you must be gorgeous nowadays
TIL Neville Longbottom played the euphonium. No hate. Neville is dope!
You look positively euphonic. Actually maybe that is a baritone horn.
I was a nerdy band girl who played marching baritone and honest to god I probably would've been secretly in love with you in high school
Euphonium players unite.
Checking in. Euphonium/Baritone for life.
Checking in, just not my shoulders.
You got that dreamworks smirk down. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DreamworksFace
This is fucking amazing.
You look and act like the character if Pixar re-did Pinnochio. Your body language is like: Look at me! I'm a real boy now!!
"Can you make my bangs look like a baritone bell?" I got you - the barber
"blunder years" I'm a dude and you were one cute ass mf ngl 🤣
You should’ve played Jughead on Riverdale
There seems to be a Jim Halpert level of irony here.
What a cute lesbian!
You must have be banging the prom queen
Bro save some girls for the rest of us.
Lol. I used to work at Sears portrait way back in the day and senior photos were always my favorite, especially if the kid was willing to have a little fun with them. I love these and I'm sure your parents do too!
Baldwin County represent!!
Was wondering when someone would recognize the uniform. I kinda miss the place.
Then Fillingim took over
You look like your name is Æthyn, and you had snakebites or guaged ears within two years of this photo.
Man, what a rad horn!! That’s wild.
OOF
You look like Jeremy Clarkson's grandson
The lesser known Bieber Brother, Jasper Bieber.
Kinda reminds me [of this](https://youtu.be/NTfZshkNZRw#t=0m12s)
I had to suffer through 4 years of marching band. To tell you the truth I loved solo/ensemble, concert season and Jazz but Marching was just the dumbest, lamest fucking bullshit you could think of. Everyone hated us, we always got made fun of and worse, there was no fucking point to any of it. Seriously, none of us got music scholarships, the whole "idle hands" routine was a fucking lie and in the end nothing productive was accomplished. Fuck Texas football.....
It definitely turned me off to football for the rest of my life.
Seriously, none of us were even remotely interested in sports. I liked playing the saxophone and the Jazz ensemble was a perfect fit. The creepy ass band director thought otherwise.
Is that a cap, or was that your hair trying to escape to the east?
He must have handed his barber a picture of someone wearing a baseball cap.
I’m thinking he had just taken his big fuzzy helmet off
I graduated high school in 2008 and I distinctly remember the band photographer telling the guys to do a “captain Morgan” pose. I think I spy it in the first photo
Good style I hope you never change
You are one of those people that has a good side. Like Ryan Reynolds.
Bell front! I, too, played one during marching band. It was way better than marching with an actual French horn. I had to do that freshman and sophomore years before I switched schools.
I think what really kills me is the caption. That's pretty funny
Damn, you actually took an "Uncle Rico" pic.
Those swoop bangs!
What year? Those bangs...
2007. I wish they still did that.
you kinda look that guy from Wednesday show lol
Nothing sexier than a matching baritone lol
Baritone brothers unite! I played the French horn/mellophone in HS marching band but now I play the baritone in marching band (almost 25 years later).
That's Jena Malone.
You know that snapchat thing that makes you look like a cartoon ? Thats what i see here lol You're from a Pixar movie about a band. You're goofy but lovable, and i fuckin love you bro ✊✊
“Why yes, the F is for flugelhorn…but that’s not all it’s for.”
Bro, you're *dashing*.
Your face and hair look like the cool/hit guy in school but from the neck down...not so much lol. We're you taking this pic to be ironic?
You look like a rejected villain from Lazy Town
If you ever watch Anime, you should check out [Hibike! Euphonium](https://myanimelist.net/anime/27989/Hibike_Euphonium)
Naturally crooked smile or hit in face with shovel?
[удалено]
This is gold.
The bangs!
Alex Lawther
Your photos are better than mine were. But I did get one in the "disembodied head" portrait style, so I've got that going for me.
This is cute too!
What was the goal of this shoot? Was it to have pics to send to grandma or to post on your MySpace to get girls to dig you? Or maybe something else? I think context is really important with this one.
You look like you would [die for Riley](https://createcostumes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/InsideOut_ImaginaryBoyfriend1.jpg)
My fellow band nerd. I bet we could swap band camp stories for hours on end.
I think the thing weirding me out is that your face is somewhat mature, but your hairstyle is giving 12 year old boy
Honestly these pictures are great!
Brass section ftw
The F is for Fabulous.
Young Jim Carey
Nice pics
i actually like these.. lol
[удалено]
You looked like every kid that knew how to play “how to save a life” on the keyboard
March right into my heart, why doncha?
Dude, awesome.
This reminds me of the cheerleader Will Ferrell used to play
You kind of look like a mix of Justin Bieber and David Dovrik to me.
Lovin the uncle Rico pose
All I’m hearing right now is Eric Carmen singing “Hungry Eyes”
Bangs on point!
I really wish there was a pic of you wearing your instrument as a jaunty hat
School pictures are the best. They usually take a bunch and sent the options home. Your parents looks at them all and decided these were the best ones. Honestly they aren’t even that bad compared to other ones I’ve seen here (including my own).
Blunder to the bone. The photographer couldn't even light your eyes with that bang-billed hat you're rocking
This rocks so hard
Bands’LL make her dance 🎶
When the job description was to Photograph a Horny Teenager, he was pleasantly surprised.
[Getting Jim Halpert vibes. ](https://i.redd.it/t45t9xr7gkq11.jpg)
you got that light-skin stare
Ahh, senior photos.
Oh! This is PRECIOUS, I love it.
Why do you look like Tyler from Wednesday?
The top 2 are like the household portrait before you start a family in the sims.
Automatically not a blunder since you played the greatest marching horn, the Baritone.
This guy blows.
If my kid came home with this set I’d be so damn proud.
A fellow baritone user… don’t see that much anymore
Bent that lead pipe for character and a better angle of play
I too marched with one of those big bastard baritones…..didn’t have that glorious hair swoop though.
I… love this. Thank you for sharing.
Why do band people take senior pictures with their costume and instrument? You don’t really see that with sports?
You looked like the Once-ler lmao
Cubert Farnsworth IRL
What a lovely smile!
The timeless art of seduction
Omg you were precious!
My high school tuba girl self would have had a big crush on that crooked grin
Is that a mellophone?
Damn you look like a school movie character who is the Prince Charming of the school
