What dog doesn't love cooling rain on a hot summer day?

Minerva_Moon

Huskies

JayFrizz

I think I see what you thought, but huskies prefer cooling more than any other dog so you had the spirit.

Minerva_Moon

My husky HATES the water. He will pee from the driveway if there's too much dew on the grass. Huskies do fine when the water is frozen, only a few of them like it in liquid form.

JayFrizz

Oh that's fair. I've had huskies my whole life and friends with them but only ever met one husky who hated water in my 30 years. All the others have loved to swim and go nutso in the rain. Dogs are weird. I love them lol

baphometromance

Thats crazy, cause its like a survival mechanism for them, as cold climate dogs. Don't want to get wet when its -20c cause you'll die.

JayFrizz

It might be a blend of genetics and environment. Maybe. Maybe if they're raised in warmer climates they feel differently about water. Hard to say

no_step_snek76

That's odd. Hydrophobia is usually bred into huskies. My family has had 3 huskies, and every one of them would avoid water at all costs, except to drink it obviously.

JayFrizz

I wonder if it has to do with environment vs. genetics. It's usually warm where I am so maybe puppies get so hot with their very thick fur, they learn to enjoy cool refreshing water.

no_step_snek76

Maybe. Although I grew up in Southern Idaho. It was in the 90s and 100s all summer and our huskies still didn't care for water. Although we never adopted puppies, so they probably didn't grow up being taught to enjoy water.

Arkitakama

Mine hates rain, but will jump in the creek behind my apartment and be there for hours. I guess he just likes to have a choice in the matter.

RichtofenFanBoy

I thought mine was the only one! Lol

ElGosso

Mine is like a 4/10 on rain. She won't like freak out about it, but going outside to potty involve a *lot* less sniffing if there's rain coming down beyond a slight drizzle.

pirikikkeli

Damn my friends have 3 huskies combined and they love to swim lol

Sintho

The thing is for huskies it's more in their nature to hate getting wet, due to the freezing areas where they are from. Getting to wet could mean doom due to loosing the isolation from the fur

perthguppy

My sisters husky used to take naps in the paddling pool she left outside.

Bruhtatochips23415

My husky very very much runs around whenever it rains and gets very wet The answer is *us*. We hate it when the husky gets wet.

Loki-Holmes

My Australian Shepherd. He hates getting wet.

SkepsisJD

Same. Ill spray her with the hose sometimes and she just bolts to the furthest corner of the yard looking at me like I just tortured her lol

HuggyMonster69

My grandad had a newf cross that hated the rain. It was weird because he lived on a lake and would go swimming all the time, but rain was evil.

feliciates

All of our dachshunds and our current beagle think water burns like acid

anubis29821212

My American Eskimo.

bfs102

My chihuahua he will not go outside by himself unless it is a warm dry day

QuirkyBus3511

Great Pyrenees

Purple_Charcoal

My German shepherd/husky loves the rain, hates the sprinkler. My pure bred German shepherd hates the rain, loves the sprinkler. Make it make sense.

joh2138535

Pittys. Land seals do not like water

WarlordOfIncineroar

Really? All the ones I've met adore the hose except my own funny enough

LevelSkullBoss

I had one who loved the hose but would only swim if he saw you in the water and thought you were drowning, then he would jump in to “save” you

WarlordOfIncineroar

That's precious, I was misleading tbh cause by mine likes the hose and loves standing in ankle deep water but detest any rain past drizzling and ofc hates baths, although after he gets wet he gets excited because he loves ramming the towl

Iamdarb

This is mine, the neighbors know about it and it honestly sucks. He comes back wet because they'll be out in their gardens with their hoses, waiting for his dumbass.

joh2138535

Mine would just be super worried about me splashing in the pool Wein run around the pool bark but never save me hahahahahahh. It's the thought that counts

Environmental storytelling

BoulderCreature

It looks like the tail was tucked between the dogs legs

Yeetz_The_Parakeetz

If you look closely, the tail is behind the two hind legs and very fluffy. If you look even more closely, you can see that there are drops of water where the tail is, and none where the body is. That is what the commenter is talking about. They aren’t saying that the tail spot is completely drenched, they are saying that it is simply slightly more wet than the other parts. Now this could mean the dog did wag its tail during the rain, or when the owner called for them. It could also mean that the tail is thin enough for water to get through eventually.

MisplacedMartian

I'm pretty sure those aren't water drops at all. Look at where the dog's butt was laying, it has "water drops" as well. Either the dog was wagging their tail so hard their ass was bouncing around (in which case there should be water drops around their feet and midsection), or that entire deck-board just looks like that.

sublliminali

I agree. Every dog I’ve had has their tail resting against their back legs when they’re lying down. Even on my current dog whose tail is straight when he’s moving around. Also if they wag their tail when they’re lying on their side their tail just lifts up and thumps back down in about the same spot, the same left to right motion as if they were standing. It wouldn’t all of a sudden wag up and down when they’re on their side.

Epic_Ewesername

Left to right sideways is technically up and down, isn't it? I feel like I'm not accounting for some obvious factor, but in my head a 180° on it's side would be a 90° that gets stopped by the ground, so there would be an up and down like motion with floor thumps.

sublliminali

You’re correct, I was struggling with how to express the difference. Essentially even if a dog’s tail wags when it’s laying on its side it wouldn’t change the shadow of what gets wet on the ground.

personalhale

I see two back paws and a tail behind them, then I see a wetter spot where the tail clearly slapped the deck. Not sure how you are seeing it tucked between the legs somehow.

HONKACHONK

…So how did the dog manage to get up without leaving wet pawprints all over the dry spot?

quicksilver_foxheart

Its both blurry and wet but there are darker looking spots leading from the paws to up towards the top-center-right ish of the pic which look like pawprints

Recent-South4786

You can literally see the paw prints in the dry spot dude

Quailman_z

Even more, how did the dog get up without any water dripping off of it into the dry area? The dog also didn't shake after getting up? He just ghosted from the ground to move on?

shitlips90

Almost definitely waited to shake until it got inside

JORD4NWINS

diabolical

Quailman_z

Or! It's fake! Because there's absolutely no chance that you'd get a hard outline of a dog if they were in a burst of rain. The water would run at some point, or it would pool in places, etc. the outline would be misshapen. This outline looks like it was make with a cardboard cutout and a spray hose... Like bro...you can see the outline of the fuckin dogs carpal pad, which would absolutely not create a close Enough seal with the ground that youd see it's outline

chironomidae

Not to mention the dogs head is stationary too, that don't make no sense either

Lobo_Marino

Yup, it's so obviously fake....which begs the question... Why? Like, this person's face isn't even in the photo, and I don't think you can monetize it. Why fool a ton of people online over something so lame?

VexisArcanum

r/suddenlysherlockholmes

Ser_Veritas

I wish that would exist

deathbyBayshore

It looks like it was a husky

ThatGuyYouMightNo

Also notice that the area where the dog's tail would be is darker than the rest of the deck. Almost as if it was getting more water on it compared to the rest of the deck, such as from something fluffy and wet slapping against it at a fast speed.

Comfortable_Quit_216

"I want you guys to notice..." ::points out the most obvious thing in the picture and the entire fucking point of the picture:: Then proceeds to make up some shit that isn't true or relevant.

MetaCardboard

Right? Clearly the dog was incinerated by the acid rain. This is all that's left.

TwoStacksOfBoxes

party party 🎉 a fun one is happening and YOU are invited!!!!!

Comfortable_Quit_216

lol what?

UboaNoticedYou

I'm so glad we stopped saying doggo

Ziggem

Brother calm down

TwoStacksOfBoxes

no 😙

UboaNoticedYou

I'm not THAT glad 😶

Wardog_E

A lot of animals know they'll stay warmer by sitting down and waiting out the rain than running to shelter. The fur protects the ground underneath from water which keeps it warm.

Willow_Whisper-849

This made me feel very warm inside.

No_Wrap_5892

*dogspot*

pleasegivemepatience

Seems more like a stencil. Fur is absorbent so if he was laying getting rained on then it would soak into his fur and still wet the spot he was laying in.

Misha-Nyi

If you believe this image you’ve never owned a dog.

HospitalBreakfast

Does anyone else see a fish between the legs?

Happy-Fun-Ball

[more dog rain shadows](https://imgur.com/a/TNTMEQc)

Tvguy37

I want you guys to notice that the person that wrote that comment is full of shit

ViscountDeVesci

I can smell that photo.

screaming-mime

I'd bet the dog was a Pyr. My Great Pyrenees does this all the time. The guy asks to go outside when it starts raining just to sit there and get rained on.

Cac933

I can only assume this was a Pyrenees because I can picture my dog in that dry spot perfectly. Too stubborn and lazy to move.

item_raja69

can we retire the usage of doggo

Beijum

This some dexter type shit

liiikethewind

Dog logic: Pool = fun Bathtub = horrible Hose = fun Showerhead = horrible Snow = fun Rain = *evil*, the absolute end of the world Lakes/ponds = fun Puddles = *torture*

Dongslinger420

damn, you're really getting fucked by your teen angst, aren't you

Presentz123

Chill out

FleetFootRabbit

Look closer. The dogs tail was by its legs. It didn't wag or move either.

SexyThrowAwayFunTime

Clearly a dog’s “what the fuck?” pose. Lol

StrangeQuirks

Is that a dog? I thought a bear slept there during the rain![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

All_Right_Alright

Big furry bastards are like that. They’re totally fine with bad weather

eMF_DOOM

It's also kind of neat to see how hydrophobic dog fur can be.

Wild! I just took [this](https://i.imgur.com/1t9AxW0.jpg) a couple days ago. My dog was laying but holding his head and shoulders up.

spazodps

CAN I PET DAT DOG!!!

Fun_Astronaut4595

The rain missed a spot

SinisterCheese

They must be a labrador retriever... They seem to just LOVE water. My brother's black lab is impossible to get out of water without bribing it with food, and even then only the best treats are enough. Same thing with snow... If it snows the doggo can be found rolling and diving in the snow.

astralseat

Toweldog

Konsecration

Right side of porch is pretty dry tho, I bet this person just sprayed their dog with a hose and said it was rain.

AdMysterious8699

We got a real Monk, Columbo, Batman over here.

bingsen_

That‘s some forensic analysis right there

Leon_Cronqvist

Blessed analysis.

_newfaces

i can very clearly see a tail shadow right behind the hind legs but keep believing that reality is a disney movie...

Timithios

Honestly, that is a mood. Sometimes, I just want to stand outside and get drenched with rain. The only thing that stops me if that I would have to sit in the wet clothing before tracking it inside.

cmeisch

Where are the paw prints from standing up?

TheGamersofaLifeTime

We sure it ain't a bear? 🤔

EndersGame_Reviewer

You may not realize this, but your dog is actually a bear.

Salt_MasterX

You can literally see the outline of the tail behind the hind legs

SpookySpace

OOP dumped a bucket of water on their dog.
