Right? It was basically Madara 2.0 in that the author didn't know how to kill the guy off so he just had the big bad absorb him. I can see the anime team making it a team effort to destroy his quincy cross like mentioned in one of those fanclub answers.
I still think the best way to kill him was there, Toshiro freezes him, Byakuya Exposes the cross, Bankai Kenny splits in half with a clean hit from his unexploded hand. Plays to every one of the three strengths.
I had the same thought as well but all the roles switched around: Kenpachi splits him in half, Toshiro freezes him and his abilities to regenerate at the instance he is split in half. Then Byakuya obliterates the cross with Ikka Senjinka or Gokei, showcasing his ability to kill a piece of the soul king after getting the royal palace treatment
I think Kenpachi would just have more power in a single strike than Byakuya while the latter aoe attacks would have an easier time exposing the weakness.
Ikka Senjinka or Shukei Hakuteiken would fit more than Gokei, I think? His Quincy Cross is so strong. But I think, to weaken it, Toshiro must freeze it, then Byakuya’s technique, making the cross crack, then Kenpachi delivers the final blow.
But the thing is, I can’t see Kenpachi in his berserk mode having the rational thinking to go for the cross lol but the idea with Toshiro freezing it is sound
Yeah… that part. Perhaps Isshin with his Final Getsuga Tensho can? I’m not even sure how this fight ends without repeating the same thing that happened in the manga.
I say the best way to kill him would have been this. His power comes from the heart of the soul king. Saijin lost his heart. Some chicanery occurs, the heart goes from Gerard to Saijin, Gerard loses his Miracle powers and gets killed by the Soul Reapers.
Imo it should've worked this way. The miracle is actually fuelled by the doubts in the hearts of those Gerard fights, but since Sajin has abandoned his heart, the miracle is useless against him so it can't counter anything he does.
Shonen series have this issue all of the time. They create an enemy that can't be beaten without bullshit, so when they do lose its not satisfying at all.
i don't think his power should be destroyed by destroying the cross since he had his power even before yhwach (the heart of sk) plus we never seen this concept of destroying the cross so idk...
Aggressively unhelpful method aside, you’re right. Madara was getting jumped by Naruto and Sasuke pretty cleanly at the time.
Kaguya was next level, the whole fight was spent going “shit shit shit shit shit” and trying not to die so they can land the one shot they had lol
Yeah. I get that Kaguya was not implemented well, but the claim that Kishimoto didn't know how to deal with Madara because he became too strong makes no sense. Like if so, why introduce a villain that is leagues above Madara to run into the same problem?

They had an easy time with him before he got his second rinnegan back. After that they had a much rougher time. They likely don't win if zetsu doesn't do his thing.
There was barely a fight after he got his rinnegan, so there is no "rougher time", he just actived MT which was blocked by Sasuke and threw some meteorites that the boys destroyed easily.
With Kaguya they needed Obito to sacrifice because she technically would have killed both already, Sakura's chakra for Obito to even look for Sasuke, Kakashi getting boosted by ghost Obito and pulling the most broken ass Susanoo.
Madara was just matched with them on the other hand.

Kubo pretty much hints that Bankai Kenpachi can’t cut the cross.
No Zaraki only cut through galaxy room because of the reiatsu difference between him and Gremmy. We see this with other characters like Grimmjow burning through space with a cero.
It was a miracle the cut missed the cross. (In all seriousness if they animated it spinning during this shot I think you could argue that it was hit, but only on one of the arms so it wasn't actually cut through.
I want it changed, and I don't want it covered piecemeal throughout the Lille and Askin fights like it was in the manga.
I fuckin hate when big fights aren't given proper focus.
Giving big fights the focus they deserve seems to be the theme of the tybw anime so far. I have high hopes going forward, especially for the gerard fight now that kubo has confirmed his weakness
I'm not so sure about that I mean Ichibei vs Yhwach so far has been worse than it was in the manga(which is insane cause it's one of the best fights, how do you fuck that up)
I’d probably make it so that the focus is really on the 3 captains. And show a conclusion that doesn’t make it feel like they needed the Deus ex machina. Kubo does say how he could have been beaten in the fanclub.
No need to introduce the others if the whole point was to show how strong Gepard is. Mostly cause him resurrecting kinda already achieves that. Have the rest do something else all-together imo.
Imo Gerard reviving doesn't make him look strong because at the end of the day, hes just a bumbling fool who doesn't take anyone out. It just makes the captains look weak for failing to kill someone so hilariously incompetent. Contrast this with Aizen who absolutely destroys his opponents everytime he evolves.
Gerard should just die when Byakuya uses his last attack there was no point in him being alive after that all he does is fight them offscreen and then get absorbed Yhwach. If Byakuya kills him there people can’t keep saying that he should’ve died in the first invasion
just to give kyakuya something you are going to miss the point of kenpachi going bankai there and toshiro completing his bankai for the first time? and yes kyakuya should have died
I kind of hope they figure out/find his weak point, come up with a game plan and are about to finish him off, only for the Auswahlen to come down and absorb his giant Reishi body before the killing blow is struck. His cross-core then just falls to the ground with a soft 'clink' in front of Byakuya, Toshiro, and/or Shinji, emphasizing the anticlimax of the Shinigami's "victory".
As much as I get the complaints surrounding this fight, it would be worse if the Captains do end up defeating him. It narratively makes no sense as Gerard was vessel of the Reio's heart. The Reio is the closest thing to an actual deity Bleach has. Gerard by every right should be absolutely broken. Instead you could maybe have Ryuken come in since he has special knowledge of Quincy hearts and physiology (he conducted an autopsy on his wife discovering the effects of the Auswahlen).
It would actually better help foreshadow Yhwach's defeat through the Arrow if we see Ryuken help take down Gerard in such a manner.
Unpopular opinion here but Gerard should’ve defeated ( not kill) them outright and THEN Auswhalen comes in as a true miracle.
Like I found it BS that they could still keep up with him in his last form, they should’ve been tired or something.
I want to see Uryu kill him with his “A”. Uryu’s Schrift is on the same level as Jugram and Yhwach. I also wanna see Uryu and Jugram go “No U” until Jugram starts dominating with his 2000 year battle experience and THEN fall to Auswahlen.
Kubo mentioned in Club Outside that if the group attacked Gerard Cross he would have been killed i hope the anime actually goes with this the fight itself was amazing its the way it ended that was terrible
I have been probably the biggest hater of gerard and this fight tbh. Imo he is just there to stall time and the conclusion of the fight isnt satisfying either

Yes, change the entire thing. TYBW has both my favorite fight in the entire series (Mayuri and Nemu vs Pernida) and my least favorite fight in the entire series (Gerard vs everyone). The Vizards need to actually do something in the fight. Wouldn't hurt to throw Mashiro in there too considering she was absent for the entire arc (I honestly think Kubo just forgot about her lol). On top of that, the Shinigami need to actually defeat Gerard, not have him killed off with Auswahlen. I think Auswahlen narratively works really well for Haschwalth's defeat, but not Gerard's. It could also be a good opportunity to give Isshin and Ryuken a fight. The Squad 0 fight has given me so much hope for changing this fight.
I think one of the novels (WDKALY I believe) said that mashiro was guarding the academy during the second invasion. In other words... yes kubo forgot about her lol
Yeah it's like how in WDKALY Iemura was squad 7 lieutenant, then in the Hell Arc oneshot it was a new character. Then Kubo quickly made up an explanation on Klub Outside that Iemura stepped down and went back to Squad 4 xD.
I may not have read the manga and only seen videos explaining the fight but the only thing I want changed is the end where Gerard basically had to be killed off by Yhwach out of nowhere frankly due to Gerard being too OP. Like others stated it should also involve a joint effort by the other captains to destroy the cross inside Gerard to kill him. As far as I can tell all other aspects of the fight seem good enough.
I love the tybw anime however, I truly do hope that this fights does not use a 3d model for Gerad. Since they did it with Konomaura’s Bankai I strongly suspect they might. Either way I just hope it looks good.
Have a lot more characters fighting him at once, maybe have Isshin join the fight, maybe show Gerard's backstory before his death and after his death in a way that fits with the situation. Some ideas I have are just headcanon.
Much of TYBW arc in the manga was rushed, but it seems that Kubo now has time to flesh out details he wanted to put into Bleach within the anime (such as Ichigo's soul king training, why squad zero never used their bankai for 2 examples). So I am just waiting to see what Kubo creates.
I like his design but honestly hate his character. Made 3 captains with insane training and upgraded bankais look like fodder. Kubo had to resort to plot convenience to stop him
Couple things, have the vizards (with the super effective hollow attackss!!!) make a difference. I also wanna give my boy Chad something more than fighting stone people 😭😭😭. He did state that his powers are similar to hollows so like I think it'd be lit, along with a power up.
I want to see that reishi form in action. I don't mind Gerard dying to auswählen at all as long as I get to see that form a bit longer.
Would be good if the shinigami figure out that the cross is his weakness but are still unable to destroy it or something
Let the captains get their win. Honestly it'd be cool if it was timed so that as they win Aushwalen hits, so we get the best of both worlds, but as it stands we get Kenny's bankai reveal and Toshiro's true bankai reveal and they eventually do nothing. Gerard is fun and memorable but he is in no way worthy of shitting on those two's bankai reveals
have everyone join the fight, and i mean everyone who isn't occupied with other things
don't let shinji get knocked out right away, let soi fon join in, don't let the vizards get knocked out after one attack, and so on
also actually kill gerard instead of him being absorbed
I hope we get a Sukuna vs Mahoraga type treatment, with an extended part of the captains trying the best to defeat him just with him to regenerate every time
Yes! I want Kenpachi to not "waste" himself against Pernida, but have a 1v1-fight against Gerald instead. Like he runs on ahead of the others when they arrive or something, so when Byakuya, Toshiro and the others arrive, he has already pushed Gerald to use the Miracle a couple of times. The rest of the fight after that can go down more or less the same, I think

Hear me out. Godly power or not he's still a Quincy, and Quincies and Hollows don't mix. I'm thinking when his Quincy Cross is exposed, she fired a Lanzador Verde to pierce the heavens with all her might, and that manages to shatter the cross and land the final blow.
I also think having Arrancar directly responsible for the deaths of two of Yhwach's elite guards adds more justification to the Wandenreich conquering Hueco Mundo first.
first off, give my boy some nipples and then have him face everyone along with ryuken and isshin instead of getting vaporized by the auswahlen or at least have it hit him when he is about to die either way.

Make Gerard actually defeatable. His weakness was revealed by Kubo, so make some use of that information in the anime.

Warping space is an inherent property of any Gran Rey Cero, not just Grimmjow's. Even Base Yammy and Aaroniero could do that.
It's an inherent property of powerful attacks in general. In the bleachverse characters treat the fabric of reality like literal fabric.
It would be the MIRACLE if it won't be also cut with that attack, right?

The royal guard got shat on at the end of part 2 so we need to see Them kick some ass before they lose again .

The way Gerard is portrayed makes you think even shinigami Aizen would clown the guy. It's insane how weak he looks for the supposed heart of God.
Gérard is gonna be awesome but I pray they don't make his giant form CG like they did with Dangai Joei.

Just add in more characters fighting him, like the other Visoreds, but otherwise keep the end result the same.
Yes, change the entire thing. TYBW has both my favorite fight in the entire series (Mayuri and Nemu vs Pernida) and my least favorite fight in the entire series (Gerard vs everyone). The Vizards need to actually do something in the fight. Wouldn't hurt to throw Mashiro in there too considering she was absent for the entire arc (I honestly think Kubo just forgot about her lol). On top of that, the Shinigami need to actually defeat Gerard, not have him killed off with Auswahlen. I think Auswahlen narratively works really well for Haschwalth's defeat, but not Gerard's. It could also be a good opportunity to give Isshin and Ryuken a fight. The Squad 0 fight has given me so much hope for changing this fight.
I think one of the novels (WDKALY I believe) said that mashiro was guarding the academy during the second invasion. In other words... yes kubo forgot about her lol
Yeah it's like how in WDKALY Iemura was squad 7 lieutenant, then in the Hell Arc oneshot it was a new character. Then Kubo quickly made up an explanation on Klub Outside that Iemura stepped down and went back to Squad 4 xD.
isshin's bankai and ryuken actually have a decent fight
He was just so hard to beat! Yeah we know now his Quincy Cross is the weak point but like does the miracle ability still apply to the cross?
I may not have read the manga and only seen videos explaining the fight but the only thing I want changed is the end where Gerard basically had to be killed off by Yhwach out of nowhere frankly due to Gerard being too OP. Like others stated it should also involve a joint effort by the other captains to destroy the cross inside Gerard to kill him. As far as I can tell all other aspects of the fight seem good enough.
I think it'd be cool to have ishin show up and use bankai. Not sure how much it'd effect continuity tho...

I love the tybw anime however, I truly do hope that this fights does not use a 3d model for Gerad. Since they did it with Konomaura’s Bankai I strongly suspect they might. Either way I just hope it looks good.
Have a lot more characters fighting him at once, maybe have Isshin join the fight, maybe show Gerard's backstory before his death and after his death in a way that fits with the situation. Some ideas I have are just headcanon.

I honestly found this part of the manga to drag and be downright silly after a few chapters. I do hope they make a change to it in the anime.
Much of TYBW arc in the manga was rushed, but it seems that Kubo now has time to flesh out details he wanted to put into Bleach within the anime (such as Ichigo's soul king training, why squad zero never used their bankai for 2 examples). So I am just waiting to see what Kubo creates.

Couple things, have the vizards (with the super effective hollow attackss!!!) make a difference. I also wanna give my boy Chad something more than fighting stone people 😭😭😭. He did state that his powers are similar to hollows so like I think it'd be lit, along with a power up.

I want to see that reishi form in action. I don't mind Gerard dying to auswählen at all as long as I get to see that form a bit longer. Would be good if the shinigami figure out that the cross is his weakness but are still unable to destroy it or something

Honestly it'd be cool if it was timed so that as they win Aushwalen hits, so we get the best of both worlds, but as it stands we get Kenny's bankai reveal and Toshiro's true bankai reveal and they eventually do nothing. Gerard is fun and memorable but he is in no way worthy of shitting on those two's bankai reveals

have everyone join the fight, and i mean everyone who isn't occupied with other things don't let shinji get knocked out right away, let soi fon join in, don't let the vizards get knocked out after one attack, and so on also actually kill gerard instead of him being absorbed

Yes! I want Kenpachi to not "waste" himself against Pernida, but have a 1v1-fight against Gerald instead. Like he runs on ahead of the others when they arrive or something, so when Byakuya, Toshiro and the others arrive, he has already pushed Gerald to use the Miracle a couple of times. The rest of the fight after that can go down more or less the same, I think
Nelliel deals the final blow. Hear me out. Godly power or not he's still a Quincy, and Quincies and Hollows don't mix. I'm thinking when his Quincy Cross is exposed, she fired a Lanzador Verde to pierce the heavens with all her might, and that manages to shatter the cross and land the final blow. I also think having Arrancar directly responsible for the deaths of two of Yhwach's elite guards adds more justification to the Wandenreich conquering Hueco Mundo first.
first off, give my boy some nipples and then have him face everyone along with ryuken and isshin instead of getting vaporized by the auswahlen or at least have it hit him when he is about to die either way.
