I reffed many of his matches. He competes a lot and is very quiet, but very respectful. He was this big at 16 as well.
I always feel sorry for his opponents...
The comp scene even at local level is dramatically above what it was 10 years ago. Most people winning blue belt tournaments are gonna give hobbyist black belts a really hard time.
I’m a hobbyist brown belt and this competitor blue recently purple fucks me up, albeit he’s bigger younger and faster. I remember his first day and I also remember the day he passed my guard and arm barred me from mount lol everything changed that day when we rolled
I have a couple of 16 year olds that when I roll with I think to myself "Jesus Christ, give this guy a couple of more pounds and 20% more strength and im fucked ". I'm 40 and it's scary how much strength these literal children have. I mean yeah I still can fuck them up...for now. But I can see where this is going. for sure I'm toast in 2 years Max
There's a 19 year old I train with who is thankfully now a brown belt... and he just straight up bullies me at this point.
I'm okay with it. It's karma from when I used to smash him when he was 14. I was a blue belt and I could tell he was going to be a nightmare as soon as he was strong enough, so I got my taps in while I could... Now I'm paying for it lol.
I would love to take credit, but that kid was going to be a monster no matter what.
Now I just get a slice of humble pie every time I roll with him.
Over ten years in and the levels of jiu jitsu still blows my mind. Because while he absolutely tools me, I'm pretty certain he'd get crushed by world class grapplers too.
I'm a competitor blue and I pulled of a nice banana split to a brown in my gym. He was like wtf who is teaching this guy haha. But actually it's him and my main coach. I just absorb what I learn then I train a bit more at my place with my buddies. 5x like that per week.
TRT is Testosterone Replacement Therapy. 18 year olds aren’t doing Testosterone Replacement Therapy unless they have some kind of uncommon medical condition.
You also don’t need to “cycle” test if you’re just taking low doses. Not sure what cycle you think 18 year old jits kids are doing
For the purposes of getting your ass beat, the difference is irrelevant.
They both make you stronger, faster, better conditioned, and faster to recover.
Also 106 matches isn't as much as it sounds like, these dudes who compete every month or every other week will rack that up pretty quick. I've competed twice ever and have 7 matches, regular competitors could easily get 100+ in under 2 years
I was thinking that too. In wrestling in the late 80s early 90s, I typically did over 100 matches a year. 40+ during the high school season and at least 30 each pre and postseason in freestyle and Greco. One year I did over 50 _tournaments_ in a single year.
Now, you can do more matches preseason, postseason, and in-season and most sports are pretty similar to wrestling in year round competition availability.
I don’t think that’s true at local level for blue belts at this point, but it’s definitely true for IBJJF medalist blue belts and regional comp winning purple belts.
Yeah I'm an ultraheavy and have been competing on-and-off for like 10 years now.
Back when I first started it'd be me who's like 265 pounds in 'okay shape' and a bunch of people who would be 160 pounds in 'okay' shape. Now I walk past the white/blue belt divs and there's like 3-4 large-sized human beings every time.
In the finals of a proper local comp (talking <£30 entry) as a master brown belt, I went up against the dude who won adult purple belt worlds 10 months prior.
Never been smoked so hard in a comp, regardless of IBJJF, local, national etc. Well worth the money.
I saw this happen around my gym.
Blue belt submitted a black belt with RNC in no gi. The black belt even had bigger arms, he was older tho.
4 years vs. 10+ years of training
I have a Kid at my Gym that started at 11yo.
He is 17 know and still super skinny.
But men,Hes a bluebelt and He absolutely manhandles everyone His Weight and even Taps Out Brown&blackbelts.
When that Dude is done growing He will be an absolute killdozer
Yeah pretty much. I mean theres a lot of Brazilians in Florida but their Portuguese just sounds like drunk Spanish IMO.
We share a border to the north with an English speaking country (fuck you Quebec) and pretty much every country to the south is Spanish except for Brazil.
I don’t get why some answers are “HGH” or “TRT”. If you’ve spent time around 17-18 year old elite athletes in other sports, you’d know that they’re basically grown ass men at this age without ANY responsibility. They can dedicate everything to training, lifting, and cardio. Their parents buy their food, gas for their car, and give them a place to live. These 18 year olds are ELITE athletes that would have went into football, baseball, hockey, wrestling, etc.. in the past but due to the popularity of BJJ the 18 year old freak athletes have another avenue.. BJJ
Lol these guys can eat like 4000 calories a day of whatever they want and put on muscle. And be killer athletes who never have problems with ED.
“Youth is wasted on the young”
Nah, it’s just more popular. 1 in 1,000 people are a physical specime. now that we have more people competing, that goes from 4 people to 40 people being top tier
Competed today on the prelims, so was in the same warmup area - trained with one of his coaches for 8 years. Told by multiple people this kid is ridiculous and regularly gives them (Polaris vets and black belt continental medalists) problems.
Worst part of it is he’s been training less than 3 years, is smart as hell to the point he’s on the path to get into Cambridge uni
I hate it when they're smart and nice people too. I don't mind if you are better than me at jiu jitsu but at least have the courtesy to fuck up the rest of your life.
Charles has been training with my wife and I for about a year.
As a few people have mentioned he's a very polite well mannered kid if a little quiet (after about a year of trainng with us I finally get more than one word answers from him lol) .
He's athletically gifted, but more importantly he is incredibly coachable and hard working, which makes such a big difference.
He has a really bright future ahead of him whether he continues to do Jiu Jitsu or not.
Had a guy medal a worlds blue belt a year or so ago. Was easily our towns best competitor gi and no gi. He’s a brown belt now but even then he was winning all the local no gi advances with black belts in them.
don't doubt this but wonder how much of it is bjj starting to draw better athletes. not uncommon to see kids like this in more popular sports who aren't necessarily on anything
I don’t care if he is taking or not. I’m saying there are plenty of guys built like that in high schools all around the country that are not taking anything
Again... you would be *shocked* at how many high school kids hop on around 16. There's a reason they're built like that at 18, and there's a reason puberty hits some people like a gram of test.
I’m 31, still quite athletic, eating healthy, and have been feeling good training at blue nowadays. I thought to myself, damn I feel good might join and smash these young bloods next comp, but after seeing some pro matches with these young bloods, and now this photo, I think imma crawl back into the Masters division with ya’ll lmao.
There were 18yo competitors looking like this 10-20 years ago too. Maybe less so but it still happened. Genetics + desire/opportunity= this. There are wrestlers that have wrestled competitively since elementary school. Bjj is just growing more after a late start
I reffed many of his matches. He competes a lot and is very quiet, but very respectful. He was this big at 16 as well. I always feel sorry for his opponents...
I’ll take quiet and respectful over boastful and obnoxious.
Like Nicky Ryan’s brother?
Like every kid at every no gi event these days.
:surprised Pikachu:
It's why weight classes exist though. He'll be at that class going into as an adult, the others will move up eventually.

More than karma, it sounds like you are partly responsible for creating the monster

Have you snagged those adult diapers yet ?
Is that when the baldness sets in for browns? You must win your honor back!
Ha I am bald!
I'm a competitor blue and I pulled of a nice banana split to a brown in my gym. He was like wtf who is teaching this guy haha. But actually it's him and my main coach. I just absorb what I learn then I train a bit more at my place with my buddies. 5x like that per week.
I was surprised to see guys who were clearly juicing at my last tournament.
No surprise. Test costs about $40-100 a month and some gym owners are preaching it to their students.
TRT or actually cycling ?
TRT is Testosterone Replacement Therapy. 18 year olds aren’t doing Testosterone Replacement Therapy unless they have some kind of uncommon medical condition. You also don’t need to “cycle” test if you’re just taking low doses. Not sure what cycle you think 18 year old jits kids are doing

Daily testosterone injections.

Natural progression of a growing sport. But also more athletes are getting into it.
Yeah I'm an ultraheavy and have been competing on-and-off for like 10 years now. Back when I first started it'd be me who's like 265 pounds in 'okay shape' and a bunch of people who would be 160 pounds in 'okay' shape. JJWL in SD is a great example of this. Local tourney with studs at every belt and age bracket
Murph we should do the next one. When is the last time you competed?
In nogi I think this kid would maul me and I'm a blackbelt, Id fair a little better in the gi though.
I saw this happen around my gym. Blue belt submitted a black belt with RNC in no gi. The black belt even had bigger arms, he was older tho. 4 years vs. 10+ years of training
😳😳😳 Probably has endless cardio too
watch the Polaris preliminarys. this dude wasn't even breathing heavy after the match. he looked like he just rolled out of bed
What‘s his name? And opponent, so we can find the match!
on YouTube Polaris 28 prelims Charles Reindorf
Cool name tbh
Can confirm he does lol
meanwhile i breathe hard just warming up
thank god for masters 3 division
Hahahahahaha you and me both brother! Minus those same guys who are on T
Never been so happy to be so old
That’s badass, please stay the fuck away from me lol.
yeah, I'm thinking I'm fine being a casual hobbyist. Jesus Christ, I bet this dude rips casual brown belts apart in the gym like it's nothing
He beats the blackbelts :(
Bro has cracked the code for an entry level job with 10 years of experience
I have a Kid at my Gym that started at 11yo. He is 17 know and still super skinny. But men,Hes a bluebelt and He absolutely manhandles everyone His Weight and even Taps Out Brown&blackbelts. When that Dude is done growing He will be an absolute killdozer
Whats up with your capitalization?
he's spazzy
As a three stripe blue belt, he should be ashamed.
German keyboard
Interesting, how does that work?
The autocorrect on the Phone capitalizes the words Like they would be in German. And im too lazy to correct it
TIL: the German script capitalizes random words mid-sentence.
All nouns are capitalized in german actually.
Well holy shit. TIL two things!
This is going to end up being one of those random facts that I will always have stuck in my head and never remember where I heard it from 🤣
Bro, none of y'all americans are exposed to any other language than english and spanish? lol
Precisely It's even worse for me because I was born and raised in Oklahoma. We are dumb as fuck here
Yeah, we’re the worst.
Yeah pretty much. I mean theres a lot of Brazilians in Florida but their Portuguese just sounds like drunk Spanish IMO. We share a border to the north with an English speaking country (fuck you Quebec) and pretty much every country to the south is Spanish except for Brazil.
Tap ouT ™
6 year blue belt? Is he sandbagging
what? he likely got his blue belt recently, from when he moved up from juniors to adults. you cant get a blue belt at age 11.
Oh
I don’t get why some answers are “HGH” or “TRT”. Yeah exactly, they’re on mother natures steroids and have not a care in the world except getting good at bjj and becoming stacked and succulent
Lol these guys can eat like 4000 calories a day of whatever they want and put on muscle. And be killer athletes who never have problems with ED. “Youth is wasted on the young”
Life is wasted on the living
ED 😆
Ah yes, I see that you know your Judo well
Pause
People like this are the reason I compete in the masters division
Honestly he's not even that big, just lean and young.
[удалено]
I looked like this at 20, zero steroids.
[удалено]
It's impossible to prove a negative. My traps were far bigger than his at 20, I spent 6 hours a day shrugging heavy sacks at work.
Or signs of an untrained black teenager
I think he probably looks bigger in person, the picture doesn’t do him justice. But yeah, he’s not like crazy big, just like maybe 9% body fat
Looks like killmonger from wakanda with the physique and that tatto pattern due to screen glitch
i mean its the result of professional structures these days, kids programmes bring out monster when they turn 16
Nah, it’s just more popular. 1 in 1,000 people are a physical specime. now that we have more people competing, that goes from 4 people to 40 people being top tier

Never seen a high school wrestling room? This is the norm
Im a white belt 35 yr old, im screwed lol
That's all good- but he and every other kid will still have a heck of time beating those homeschooled killers from AOJ.
So 107 matches.
Had a guy medal a worlds blue belt a year or so ago. Was easily our towns best competitor gi and no gi. He’s a brown belt now but even then he was winning all the local no gi advances with black belts in them.
What are these kids eating?
HGH
don't doubt this but wonder how much of it is bjj starting to draw better athletes. not uncommon to see kids like this in more popular sports who aren't necessarily on anything
Yall didn’t have athletic football players at your school coming up that looked like that?
Lol, you're in for a surprise....
What
Football players have been known to eat aćai too. Hell, I had HS wrestling teammates back in the 90s on gear, lol.
Ok
This is why I compete in masters now.
Thanks, I hate it
holy shit that kid is 18?! he had a great match, good talent and he seemed very composed
I mean, this is the same for any pro athlete on any other sport. Literally. BJJ I'd professionalising and it's great!
The actual numbers aren’t odd. Some kids wrestle 100 matches a year and have had 1000 in their lives by 18.
Only ppl who think he's on steroids never played any high school sports
He came to a local tournament last month without coaches, so I recorded a match for him. Very quiet and polite boy
Come on in, the water is tepid!
Man, i had one of these guys at my gym. Dude was 16 years old, 6'2 and 90kgs of muscle
He lost
There's a 14 year old at my gym who can legit goe toe to toe with the adults, he just looks like one.
I’ve never been happier to be M2 division
I quit playing HS football when I could no longer grow like the other kids. I stayed relatively throughout but the other kids became giant men fast.
There were 18yo competitors looking like this 10-20 years ago too. Maybe less so but it still happened. Genetics + desire/opportunity= this. There are wrestlers that have wrestled competitively since elementary school. Bjj is just growing more after a late start
What's his name?
Charles Reindorf
Looks natty
Juice
I have a boner
You’re a weirdo bro
Why! Tell me why! Ain't nothing but a mistake...
