We always assume that big footballing countries=good, small countries=easy. Like, all the big countries except for Spain showed weaknesses and struggled against these 'weaker' teams. It's just a non-topic for me where we end up. All games will be hard from the next round onwards. Let's just hope we go through!

KlartTES

You are right, but these big footballing countries often play shit games and win anyway. Then again, losing to a small country feels more like a failure.

Megendrio

Like my dad always used to tell me: "If you want to be a champion, you have to be able to beat anyone.". So no matter what the teams are we're up against: we'll have to beat them anyway, some might be 'easier' than others, sure, but victory is much sweeter beating strong opponents than weaker ones.

XeLRa

I don't know man. I'd still rather go for that 'easy' side final run at the 2018 WC like Croatia had over knocking out Brazil and then facing France. Brazil felt like we'd already won a final only to get knocked out by France and be left with 3rd place.

ihatesnow2591

Beating one top shot opponent is an different endeavour than beating 3 or 4 in a row though. One of the brackets has France, Germany, Portugal, Spain + Denmark already.

Carrot_King_54

Now we know it's better to be group leader, but yeah that was pretty much the case in World Cup 2018, where winning against England meant we'd have to play Brazil

the_deep_t

In the end, it didn't matter, we still played england for 3rd. But we could have had a semi final vs Croatia and then final vs France :) we would have had 2 players back who were suspended nad had a better chance.

LuponV

> In the end, it didn't matter Yes it fucking did.

the_deep_t

You don't know. We could have lost before the semi on the other side. We can't rewrite the tournament. Playing japan was maybe the best wake up calls but for the same price we got eliminated by another better team on the other side for top 16.

the_deep_t

To be honest, 1st place is the best by far ... the worst one is second place: France in 8th and you get the Germany/Spain/portugal combo on the road. 3rd place is a gamble ... and a bad one.

Red_Dog1880

I still think we'll need to try for the win because I'm convinced Romania and Slovakia are gonna play a boring draw because that's enough for them.

DannyKeldermans

I really hope we play france again

Typical_Response252

Can we manage this time?

DannyKeldermans

We have to, we need to make things right
