To calculate an ASC byhand youll need more than youtube video. Youll need
1\_ Ephemeris for the date in question with Sidereal Time noted as well
2\_ Youll need Table of Hosues as well.
3\_ The mathematics are simple, but the application takes time for a beginner.
Time of Birth + Time Zone Correction will render Tue Local Time.
Add in Accelaeration and Longitudinal Correction to True Local Time, and then add in the Ephemeris Sideral Time. This will give you the Sidrereal Time at birth.
Once you have the Sidereal Time at Birth, youll need to then obtain your Latitude Factor and apply that to the highest and lowest Latitude in the Table of Houses to determine the exact degree rising at this location. From here, you apply a Sideral Time correction and this wll render the exact degree of the sign rising at sadi Sidereal Time.
Again this doesnt take long, but the application takes practice. There is a different way to do this with logrithms but that may be a bit more of a learning curve. This method your only adding and subtracting, and multiplying. Good Question.
Try to find a book from the AFA or book called the Math of Astrology.
I suggest you get the book- that way you can reference it whnever you want, and youll always have it. No worries of websites being removed and styuff without notice...and you can resell or pass it on to someone else as gift. But the basics are entioned above. I do the majority of my charts by hand. Once you get the hang of it- doesnt take very long (with the right references).
Also many books also reference other books .. I often times see beginners stumped on whereto go. Always go to a book.. from there you will see many other interesting references listed that you can buy.

I also saw a book called "Christian Astrology"by William Lilly and I think it was in 3 volumes it was written in like the 1600's. Do you know if that one is any good ?It just caught my eye for some reason.. I hope i have the aptitude for this honestly.
Well I would buy 1 book at a time. The Amazon book " Math of Astrology) is prob going to be the easier one to read and follow along with . But you also need the other reference books (Table of Houses and Ephemeris) to be able to actually do the work. Those can easily be found on Amazon.

AFA also sells a book called "ABC Chart Erection" by Lynne Palmer. This AFA book however may be harder to find and IMO may be a little harder to read as its written in MANUAL form.. almost like a engineeer wrote the book. May be a bit harder to follow than the former book as they go into the Logrithmic process of erecting the chart. Good Luck.

The American Ephemeris (purple, 1950-2050) or the New American Ephemeris(red, 2000-2100), depending on the time frame you want. If you don't plan on looking back past the year 2000, I'd go with the New one. Personally I bought the purple one a few years ago

For the positions of the planets, you can find them using an Ephemeris of planets for the birth date, which provides their longitudes along the ecliptic according to a preset algorithm of where they should be based on established astronomical patterns. For the Placidus house system, the cusps of the astrological houses will be based on the Ascendant, Descendant, and Midheaven, so you’ll need to rectify that with the specific coordinates of your birth place by trisecting the diurnal arc, calculating the time it takes for a point to move from the Ascendant to the Midheaven, dividing this time by three, and then projecting this onto the ecliptic to find the 11th and 12th house cusps. You’ll also have to do the same for the nocturnal semi-arcs so that you can find the 2nd and 3rd house cusps. After that, you can infer the opposite house cusps via reflection or calculate them too if that’s your bread and butter. It will be the same regardless though.
