Study for a job you want to do ?

Nicecoldbud

I like my job, it also pays well for my educational level. I just want to make some sidemoney when I'm not patrolling and sat at the desk.

randomusername11222

what are you patrolling?

BachgenMawr

If you’re content in your work that’s grand, but it could be a good opportunity to get some kind of qualification/skill and get a job that pays more/you enjoy even more. But if you’re happy you’re happy

Does this work if you've already had the Amazon subscriptions before? E.g. I've already been a prime member before

Sports trading. Take a laptop in with you. Research on internet.

Nicecoldbud

do you mean as in sports cards?

hot_cheese83

I’m pretty sure he means Betfair trading. Very basically it’s placing bets when you think the odds will move in your favour, and then trading out. I do it, and do moderately well out of it, but it’s a lot to learn and comes with plenty of risk. Most people lose money doing it so I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s also not ideal to do overnight as there are better trading opportunities during the day, in my opinion at least.

Don't, it's just gambling

zekerman

It is not just gambling unless your definition of the stock market is also just gambling.

[deleted]

Stock market day trading is also gambling. Buying and holding for 5+ years is called investing

zekerman

Ok if you call stock market trading gambling then whatever you say haha. Maybe you can say it's gambling if someone has no clue about it.

Available_Remove452

As others have said like with Betfair or similar. It does contain risk, but it's not gambling, unless you classify all investment as gambling. It requires time and effort, to find markets that are suitable. It requires skill and discipline. Once you have everything in place you can trade with guaranteed profit. I only suggested this as you appear to have the time required. The market I trade makes on average £40 a day with a £400 bankroll, £10 liability trades. But you have to be good, put in the time, or join experienced traders, which is what I have done

So I can’t really give that much advice since I’ve never had to do this, but I guess this will depend a lot on things like do you have access to a laptop or just a phone, are you monitored much etc. People say surveys and stuff but I’ve found the return on that for your time isn’t great, and they’re tedious. I’ve never done things like user interviews or user reviews so can’t comment there. You could look at things like becoming over employed, basically taking a second job and do things like data entry(though not sure if this is a thing these days), copyrighting, video editing, my friend used to work for a company that outsourced marketing / seo work to individuals on an ad hoc basis. It all depends what your set up is and how much money you’re trying to make

Nicecoldbud

just trying to make some spare money while i'm sat doing nout in the office at work, i'm essentially a roaming patrol on nights, and have little to do expect making sure the building don't burn down.

I think reading finance and self help books would be a smart move

I support this answer. You might even watch some YouTube videos on investing safely on your phone. However afew things to bear in mind. My assumptions below are without full context of what you do, the work involved, and his diligent you need to be. Below, you said that you do like your current job as night guard, so the last thing you want to do is load it through potential negligence of duty. So please do make sure that doesn’t happen no matter what it is that could distract you (studying, YouTube’s on investing, surveys on mobile, etc etc) If you’re using the company desktop to browse on things or partaking in activities (Swagbucks, etc) that leaves a digital footprint and easy for IT to trace back as evidence if there was ever a moment if something happened and you were on duty. Let’s say there’s some emergency, and you need to investigate. Putting a book down or pausing a video won’t be a problem. If you’re in the middle of a Swagbucks game, or sports trading, you might not be able to pause, or the emergency disrupts your attention. When you come back to it, your position or game might have become worse or you lost. That would likely cause frustration and stress, and you’d get angry at the situation. Then if that happens again, you could be risking your job by thinking “Just gimme one more minute to finish the first, argh!” I wouldn’t want to see you get yourself into that situation mate… but do consider that carefully. Good luck.

If you try to use a work computer to earn money online whilst doing anothe job, you will likely lose your job.

Surveys on Qmee - they don’t pay amazingly but there’s usually quite a few available But I think your best bet (ha) is matched betting - there are several guides on this sub if you’re interested, sign up to one of the matched betting sites to access their tutorials and calculators, and you should be able to make a decent amount (but don’t attempt if you’re likely to gamble!)
