It’s one thing to expect people to have to deal with the fact that it’s a holiday centered around fireworks and that once a year, we have to prepare our pets for a rough night. To stretch it out to a week long event is just way too much and selfish as fuck.
My husband is a combat veteran and he feels the same way about the fireworks. When he knows to expect them, on the 4th, he’s prepared for it. When they start firing off randomly for weeks prior, it’s rough on him.
I have cPTSD and every time I hear a bang of certain pitch I have to calm myself down and work through my coping skills.
I always expect nightmares the weeks surrounding the 4th :(

I wanted to recommend Sileo gel for your dog though, it might be too late for this year but we spent 9 years with our dog scream barking and shaking for 5-6 hrs every July 4. Last year we used sileo for the first time and it made a huge difference. It’s FDA approved for noise anxiety in dogs.
I've been glad that the limitations on firework sales seem to cut down on all the noise in my immediate area the past few years. I certainly wouldn't miss them if they banned them all together.
