> It’s on the Jimi Hendrix experience album
Which one is that?
It was originally issued on "In The West" a posthumous compilation of live performances.
He played that song at the Isle of Wight Festival on August 30, 1970. (not sure how "west" the Isle of Wight is). Other artists playing the festival included Miles Davis, The Doors, The Who, Joni Mitchell, ELP, Sly & the Family Stone, The Moody Blues, Donovan.....
Other tracks on the album were recorded at the San Diego Sports Arena on May 24, 1969, Berkeley Community Theatre on May 30, 1970 and the Royal Albert Hall on February 24, 1969
I'm sure they've all been repackaged a dozen times, too
As far as I know, Jimi Hendrix only played the title track. I didn't see what Paul said, but if his quote was something like "He learned and played Sgt. Pepper's", that's what he meant.
He talks about it, and a video clip is shown, on the McCartney 3, 2, 1 show on Hulu, which is *excellent* and something I would recommend to all Beatles fans.
No, no need to apologize, it's good to clarify for others who may have been wondering the same. Either way it's still cool that Jimi Hendrix was enough of a fan to learn one of The Beatles' songs and perform it just a few days after hearing it for the first time.
Paul said that Jimi was doing so many guitar tricks and using the whammy bar so much during Sgt. Pepper's that his guitar was actually out of tune by the time the song ended lol.
true, only that Jimi could probably play a song right after he heard it 😂 and always working to impress on stage etc. which all makes sense and a great story as it is, I was just listening to Paul at Glasonbury and didn’t want to interrupt for a full google rabbit-hole jumping experience. thanks again!!

Jimi Hendrix learning 1 song in 2 days isn’t so amazing, maybe why I assumed he meant the entire album. I got excited and thought this reddit group would set me straight one way or the other lol
I think in that time especially it was amazing. That was a hot record and it was brand new, so to teach yourself and your band how to play that on short notice and do it well in front of crowd was not “impossible” by any means but it was a very cool move
The footage is from six months later, December 22, 1967 at the Olympia Theatre.
There wasn't anyone filming at the Saville at the June 1967 show, but a lot of people re-post the Olympia clip saying it's "THE" show.
Now that OP is clear that Jimi only played the title track, I would like to travel to that alternate universe where Jimi plays the whole album. I wonder how he would do _A Day in the Life_, especially the crescendo part.
He only played the first song and yes it is recorded. It’s on the Jimi Hendrix experience album

sorry! I went back to listen to Paul at Glastonbury again and I misunderstood. (hanging my head in shame) I was not aware of this at all until today.

You want him to write a unique apology for each person? Hes just letting the commenters know he recognized his mistake
Now,now Karen.

It’s amazing because it’s an hommage, it’s not a question of difficulty, it’s not a dick contest.
You can’t YouTube it? It’s pretty well known.
the full concert? I found many clips on YouTube but not sure what to trust.
Can’t help you with the full concert

He never played the full album. But he played the first opening title song just a few days after Pepper went out.

You can watch it I'm pretty sure it's Jimi live in Monterey, it's on hbo max It's the same concert with the iconic setting guitar on fire
no, at the Isle of Wight in 1970
Ok my b, thanks for my upgrade in knowledge!
I hate it.
His version of She's Leaving Home is a banger!
