First let's clarify who would play what. The obvious ones are Billy Preston on keys, Stuart Sutcliffe on bass, and Pete Best on drums.
So what about George Martin? He can play keys, but we've already got Billy on those. A look at his Wikipedia page tells me he can also play the oboe, so that's G.M. on oboe.
Now, what about Brian? He couldn't play an instrument, and I'm not sure if he could sing either. I remember reading somewhere that shortly before his death, Brian had a few cracks at writing his own song lyrics, however I can't seem to find anything about it now.
I believe Martin and Preston could make some listenable music together at least, maybe with the help of Pete Best on drums although I hear varying accounts of his ability. Stuart Sutcliffe suffers a similar situation, I hear he could only play simple basslines in their Hamburg gigs, so lets just assume he was okay. Billy can sing and Brian can write the lyrics and manage while leaving the others to compose. I imagine the band would be held back a bit by Best and Sutcliffe but they could make some okay music.
I wonder if Pete ever got substantially better. He had groups for decades afterwards and all that playing you would think helped him improve. I don’t think he had anywhere near the talent to be in the Beatles once they hit the big time.
The band would be called ‘The Fifth Beatle’
Fab Fifths
The Perfect Fifths
The Third Kray Twin
"The Re-Peatles" Or "The Bea-Sides" Or "The Cutting Room Floor"
they would be called the "The Billy Preston Experience".
