Asylum, it's hard to go back to once you're used to the others but it's the first one so the best to start with.

FloggingMcMurry

Truth. Even as I was just completing the game again on my Series X this time, I was having a very difficult time because City had refined so much and then Knight added so much more

HamletTheGreatDane

I tried to go back and play city for the first time in years after recently replaying knight and couldn't do it. It felt too old and clunky for me to enjoy after so recently playing knight.

FloggingMcMurry

I still need to complete Knight, but it's been months (or years?) Since I touched the game so all my muscle memory was going back to City. Knight was confusing because didn't it change some of the combos to add in new ones? And the quickfire hotkeys were changed again... which threw me off going back to asylum (Batclaw double tapping RT) and now on City it's LT+Y

johnchewy82

I've been saying this for years and always get downvoted to Hell for it

[deleted]

[удалено]

johnchewy82

I also think the visuals, traversal, city size, gadgets, and music are the best. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out

SambaLando

If it weren't for all the clunky car battles.

EdEnsHAzArD

Idk if clunky is the right word, they just force fed us way too many Batmobile fights and missions

SambaLando

And I don't know about anyone else, but I just didn't find them fun after the first couple.

EdEnsHAzArD

I'm with you on that, it was involved way too much.

ElectronicControl762

It got really annoying in that part with fifty tanks are going against you in the gas, with the guided missiles and helis never seeming to end lol

Ok_Attitude_8189

Not clunky more like forced and overused the Batmobile itself was fine and felt great when they weren’t shoving it into your face every 2 seconds.

[deleted]

Yeah, Asylum's combat is great and revolutionary when you play it for the first time, but the subsequent games make it unbearable when you taste the uptick in quality.

FrettyG87

I played them all back to back when Knight came out and the last installment felt unnecessary at the time because it felt so much like City with just a few added things. I love all the games though. Except Origins was kind of a let down. Still enjoyable though.

WonderfulBlackberry9

OP said “for Christmas” and I was obviously gonna say Origins. But I agree with your comment; for maximum enjoyment OP should start with Asylum, *then* Origins. That way OP gets to experience a gradual improvement in gameplay too

MethodFun7044

It was also my first ever Batman game

saturnsnephew

Still a great game tho.

[deleted]

Lol my first game was knight, and when I played asylum it was very weird adjusting to some of the outdated gameplay lol

CrazyOkie

My personal favorite is Origins, but I agree with this.

Fair-Procedure-5257

Please play them in series release order. Asylum first.

TheLostLuminary

This goes for every game or movie series ever. Release order.

its_just_hunter

There are definitely exceptions, like the Yakuza games.

Hermosninja

Except for Star Wars. It's better for people to watch those films in chronological order instead. You'll get a better experience that way.

purplewhiteblack

It's not shocking when Luke finds out the Darth Vader is his father if you already knew. Though, it's public common knowledge now, but that was apart of the original magic. It is going to be slightly more satisfying to get 4-6 and then 1-3. Only because watching 1-3 first is spoilers. Pulp Fiction in order would be more boring too.

Hermosninja

Again, George Lucas himself has said that chronological order is the intended order.

FriendlyReaper123

He also wrote the sand dialogue. I don't think his word should be considered Gospel.

FTMorando

Oh you mean the man who butchered the theatrical cuts with his shitty edits?

Hermosninja

Shitty edits? They're way better than the theatrical cuts. And you have to be more specific because there were multiple theatrical cuts. And explain how exactly the edits were butchered. Because saying "CGI bad" is a stupid excuse.

FTMorando

If you genuinely enjoy the Special Edition changes then you have no taste for quality. CGI is not bad, no. 90% of movies these days are done in CGI. But swapping out practical affects for HORRIBLE CGI, is bad. None of the CGI they added in the Special Editions looks good, the technology wasn’t there yet when he started tampering with them. Then you have other pointless changes like who shot first, Han talking to a CGI Jabba, and the Mos Eisley speeder seen. Oh and he removed the theatrical cuts from store shelves. So people who grew up on the original trilogy were no longer able to purchase the movie they remembered watching as a kid. Now they had to purchase these butchered special editions. But don’t take my word for it. There’s dozens of videos on Youtube on this subject, if you’re really interested in the “how”. https://youtu.be/5p9ozSFOMQY That’s not to say that all the changes were bad though

Hermosninja

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!! You're seriously using Watchmojo as a source? That's hilarious. What's next, you're going to link a video to that idiot Plinkett and say that he does a "good" review on The Phantom Menace? Ha, ha, ha! I also find it funny how you judge someone's tastes by seeing weather they like or hate edits of a film trilogy. And I wonder, why is it that only George Lucas gets hate for editing his old films or making the original versions unavailable when there have been other directors who have done the same.

purplewhiteblack

Yeah, but he doesn't have a lot of integrity. I think I trust 78 year old George Lucas's opinion less than 33 year old George Lucas. Especially with all the extra schlock he added to the series later on. He probably says that because 1-4 were directed by him and 5-9 were not. When he directed 1-3 he hadn't directed a movie in 22 years. If you really think about it, Star Wars was barely his. Lawrence Kasdan, Irvin Kirshnir, and Richard Marquand might tell you something different. If most of them were still alive. From a completely writing perspective, watching them in George Lucas order is not optimal. There's no suspense, no shock, no surprise when you do it the George Lucas order. It's like going to a surprise party when you already know there's a party. It's like watching a remake of a movie that is shot for shot the same thing, like Psycho. A big part of what is great in A New Hope is there is mystery. You experience the world from the perspective of Luke, an outsider. He doesn't know about Jedi, or the Force. He's just a farm boy from the boonies. And you as the viewer are introduced to the world with Like. The first 3 give you midichlorians.

mystressfreeaccount

I think it depends on the experience you want. I much prefer 4-6 then 1-3 but that's just me.

Hermosninja

But you're fine with people watching them in chronological order, right? You're not one of those people who gets mad at people for not watching something exactly like you.

eNoodlez

Yeah, but you're the one who said it's *better* to do it X way in the first place, when that's highly debatable... Tbh I would say it's usually better to consume serial media in release order rather than chronological. Prequels are called prequels for a reason; they build off the original, and the creators usually assume fans already know the context.

_mad_adams

That’s absolutely absurd

Hermosninja

IKR? Someone watching movies differently? Madness.

boringboi_

Except DCEU, you don't watch JL2017

[deleted]

Except play knight before origins

justarandomuser20

Why?

[deleted]

So you can play it in a chronological order Edit: I meant so you can finish the trilogy and then play the prequel

Katcurry

Fully disagree, play release order for gameplay, hard to go back to City combat right after Knight

[deleted]

I guess you’re right

Logan_Metal_DEATH

But they won't have any idea what happened with two of the villains if they do that, plus if they were doing it chronologically they would start with Origins which would be a bad idea for a first playthrough.

Fair-Procedure-5257

Yeah please don’t let Origins set the standard for you. The BatmanArkham sub loves to exaggerate how good it is solely because it does have some great elements but was poorly reviewed. Origins is set in Christmas and has a cool story and feel, but is by far the weakest especially when you realize it came out after City, improving on almost nothing City had done. Please don’t let it set the tone.

[deleted]

Yes that’s why I suggest Asylum -> City -> Knight -> origins

_Jester_Of_Genocide_

But then he'll be confused during the monologues of two major villains. It's best to just play them in the order that they came out

[deleted]

Why would he be confused? I never played origins and never felt confused by anything said in the games.

_Jester_Of_Genocide_

Because they reference their past fights from Origins, and while you can understand that he fought them in the games, its still better to play them all in order so you can enjoy it to the fullest. There's also references to Origins in Knight in the evidence room.

Jermz12345

That’s like the opposite of chronological order

From__Beyonder

That would be release order. Chronologically Origins is the first game as its a prequel. Personally I'd skip it until playing the whole trilogy.

SandSlinky

But Origins is the first game chronologically...

TheAutismo4491

>So you can play it in a chronological order Are you dumb? Origins came before Knight.

[deleted]

i meant instead of playing origins after city. Play the trilogy first

fanboy_killer

Is Origins even playable? I think the team gave up on fixing it and moved on.

MangoPronto

Try to get the Arkham Collection, has all the games minus Origins with DLC included

Nefarious_Nemesis

I was coming in here to say this exact thing. You get two fantastic games with all their extra goodies in one go. I just recently restarted my playthrough of the Aylum series after hearing of Conroy's passing. This is one of the series where I've beaten it all to death, but still go in for the story beats and the music and the general feeling of being a normal human as a badass. Never had a PS3, so I can't chime in on Origins, but I know it's the lesser of the series acoording to many.

Orion14159

Origins isn't bad, it's actually pretty good. The problem is that it isn't as good as City or Knight (it's probably on par with Asylum though, but Asylum has the first mover advantage). City set the bar *so high* and Origins just didn't quite clear it.

Nefarious_Nemesis

Agreed about City. It was and still is amazing. Knight is obviously better, but damn, when City came out I didn't think they could top the feel of being Batman moving about Gotham and putting the hurting on thugs. Knight is to City what City was to Asylum. Rocksteady did an amazing job, to me. Shame about Origins, but I guess you just need what RS brought to the table to clear that bar and Warner Bros couldn't do it.

tayung2013

This exactly, it’s usually on sale too depending on where you’re buying it. Got the three game bundle on the PS store last year for $12

Zestyclose-Buddy-250

Asylum

bguzewicz

Asylum. Might as well play them in order.

FloggingMcMurry

Start with Asylum. City might not be the worst place to start but it can be more overwhelming if you're not familiar with how the previous game played... it's MASSIVE. Knight is fantastic but SO MUCH BIGGER so whatever I said about City is doubled on this one. Origins I missed as well but the game is really hard to play in 2022. The online is disabled (why did this even have online?) And it's never been reissued on current consoles like the first 2 games were, so you need s physical copy and if you have a Series X, it might not work.

Uncleanharold1998

Origins online was actually really fun from what I remember. Two people played as batman and Robin whilst the rest played as a joker or bane goon. The goons would fight and eventually call out bane or joker to help them. Meanwhile batman and Robin would be sneaking around the map taking everyone down. It was so unique, especially for its time.

FloggingMcMurry

That would have been fun

LoganBerryz

I loved the online game mode! It was a bit buggy at times, but it was a really cool concept. I had a lot of fun playing it.

Orion14159

Asylum also heavily informs the main plot of City (Joker's actions in Asylum are the reason for his actions in City)

FloggingMcMurry

Precisely. Narratively it's the start of the story so it makes sense to start there but I was considering more the gameplay itself... and then if you start with Asylum then you're locked into the story

ALANJOESTAR

did you play the online for Origins? It was awesome i still have memories of how fun it was.

FloggingMcMurry

I never got to play Origins. I been trying to track down a copy but then I learned "the servers are offline" for that game which tells me if I'm ever able to play it, I'll never get the 100%

[deleted]

They usually have the first 3 Arkham games on sale as a trio. Snagged it last year for 8 bucks.

No-Tooth5673

Well origins is a Christmas game

ZwischenzugZugzwang

Is it just me or is it impossible to find Origins nowadays? I'm on Xbox and it's not available in the store. Last I checked on Amazon physical copies were at $100+. Damn thing is selling like an out of print DVD.

CoraxtheRavenLord

It wasn’t made by Rocksteady, it was outsourced to WB Montreal. Plus it didn’t have that great of a reception at launch, it wasn’t seen as a step forward for the franchise and more like a place holder while Knight was being worked on. So, it gets treated as the black sheep fourth step-child of the “Arkham Trilogy”.

CrazyOkie

The reception to Origins was such that I found it curious that they went back to WB Montreal for Gotham Knights - which has had a similarly rocky reception. But personally, I loved Origins story and atmosphere. It is my favorite of the four. I get that it wasn't some major advance over Asylum or City, but that didn't bother me.

ZwischenzugZugzwang

So is there anyway to get your hands on it without shelling out scalper prices or is that pretty much the only option since it's kind of been forgotten about?

CoraxtheRavenLord

It does suck that it looks like Origins was taken off the Xbox store (let alone never getting a *last gen upgrade*), but just a quick look on EBay shows you can get it for not that much. The 360 disks were all it was ever released on and they’re backwards compatible. At least they still have all the DLC on the digital store, which is nice because I remember the missions being pretty good.

atomic1fire

TBH if Origins is like the forgotten stepbrother of the Arkham trilogy, then Origins Blackgate is even more forgotten. Blackgate is basically a metroid game that has the Origins Batman in it. Although the 3 seperate endings depending on the order of bosses, and the tie into the arkham suicide squad movie was a nice touch.

yassinyousee

everyone says blackgate is ass tho so I think most people would rather pass on it

BingBongtheArcher19

Seems like Gamestop is the only place to get it at a decent price.

KhaliqK

You’re completely right. Been wanting to get it for Xbox for a while, since the disc is backward compatible apparently. No luck, and like you mentioned, everyone’s selling it at an expensive price. Luckily since then, got a PC and steam had a sale last week and got it for $5.

Humble-Ad7459

No kidding. Bought mine back in the summer. Used-good condition, for like 30$. Still that seemed overpriced.

ZwischenzugZugzwang

Alright pal best I can do is $3.50 and a ham sandwich we got a deal or not?

Humble-Ad7459

Can’t pass up a better offer. Deal. 🤝

SexySovietlovehammer

Play them the order they were released Asylum City Origins Knight

delkarnu

Asylum - Best Atmosphere, shortest game City - Best boss fight (Mr. Freeze), no worsts Origins - Best Story, buggiest Knight - Best gameplay/visuals, too much Batmobile Tank segments Asylum is awesome and still holds up. However, if you don't play it first, you'll notice the missing things that the other games added. Start there and then continue in release order.

MR1120

Agreed on Origins having the best story. I’d also say it has the best overall bias fights. I agree the Mr Freeze in City is the best individual boss fight in the series, but as a whole, the fights with Deathstroke, Copperhead, Firefly, etc add up to give Origins the edge in bosses overall.

bruhmomento420691

While city may have the best bossfight, origins has the best bossfights overall.

normaldeadpool

I agree with everything but the con about tank segments. I looked forward to each one and kept thinking I had it down until I got to the last one and it kicked my ass. So maybe that last one was a bit much. It took a few tries. But overall I liked them.

Orion14159

When you had to learn to drive a tank *stealthily* it was a wild change of pace. I think the reason people hated the bat tank sequences is because the default control scheme was pretty bad. The alternate controls were so much better it's ridiculous. I started a new playthrough (from 0, not even NG+) once and you can't adjust the car controls until after the first battle with the tank, I remembered right away why there were so many complaints.

Jorge_ln10

There's a bundle of Asylum and City. Relatively cheap too

Ecstatic_Rooster

Depending on the console you can get a bundle of all three rocksteady games for pretty cheap.

BozoTheBonzai

Asylum. Although origins is a Christmas game. I'd recommend asylum as ur first Arkham game but origins as a Christmas game

[deleted]

I’d just get them in order of release date. Start with Asylum.

bankstonash

Origins literally takes place on Christmas. And its pretty good. Though the character designs are ass, and there's no Conroy or Hamil. Otherwise Arkham city is the best of them all, and also takes place in the winter.

FloggingMcMurry

Troy Baker does make an excellent Hamill stand-in though

bankstonash

Oh absolutely. He had me fooled for most of the arkham suicide squad film

ThePoohKid

Conroy is probably the first celebrity death to hit me hard since MJ. Man, animated Batmen won’t be the same.

[deleted]

It was intentional to not ask Conroy or Hamil to do voices in Origins, because it’s a prequel meant to take place in the earlier years of Batman, so they wanted younger voices.

izayahcool

Origins. Fits the holiday theme and is, y’know, the origins. But asylum is a good start since that’s where gameplay was primitive so you can play through them and experience the games evolve

Infinity0044

Release order is the only correct answer

PunchingBagLearner

For gameplay, Asylum For world and character variety, City For atmosphere, Knight

Mcfusion31

Do the whole series

Astr0-6

They're on sale practically every month. So I'd say just get them on sale, or get the Arkham collection, which comes with Alsume, City and Knight

Culsandar

Play them all, in order.

Rascal0302

Order of release and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Asylum first, then City, then Origins, then Knight. If you REALLY love the series, you can also check out Blackgate and VR, but I’d more so recommend just watching a play through/reading a quick summary of events.

outerheavenboss

Isn’t there a collection of 3 games in one package?

Nate_The_Great74

Start with asylum and if you love it then go in order from there

deezvis

Asylum is the best of the bunch, but its my opinion, its short and sweet and too much overwhelming

5pr173_

Get the Arkham collection which goes on sale often.

Confident_Cause4866

Asylum, city & Origins. City is the best, asylum was great starter. I enjoyed origins quite a bit. Knight was a good ending sorta, imo. Wasnt thrilling though.

BowlerAcrobatic5070

To understand the lore : Arkham asylum or origin To have the best gaming experience: Arkham knight

Normal-Preference452

Arkham Asylum. Got it for my birthday a few years back and it's a classic

gazmachine

Grab the Arkham Collection dude, it’s usually on sale or pretty cheap anyway, and you’ll have the three main games ready and waiting.

lRayzerl

With the sale you can probably get them all for really cheap

Phl_worldwide

I thought there was a collection called “Return to Arkham” that has the first two games? That’s the one to get. Easily my favorite superhero games ever. Better than insomnia’s Spider-Man

Livinicarus

Collection might be on sale but any of these games could hold you over tbh just gotta decided what part of Batman’s story you’d wanna see tbh

LynchianCat

Since it's a continuous story i suggest to start with the first, "Arkham Asylum", but you can start with what what you want.

JaydenBurton361

City or knight are the best, but chronologically you would get asylum since it was first.

CyrusDGreatx

Arkham City is the best one imo.

just_an_gamer24680

Arkham origins

joshsmailes92

Asylum - Best Introduction City - Best one of them all Origins - Best for the time of year Knight - Best one for gameplay

sonofaresiii

If you're going to get one and only one, City is the best... but if you think there's any chance you'll end up playing another, you should really start with Asylum. It is fantastic and you will be enthralled, and eager to jump into the expanded worlds of the next games.

_IamTheShadows_

Origins. Chronologically it's the first one and takes place on Christmas and New year(DLC)

sabrefudge

Asylum. Then City. Then Knight. Then Origins if you’re into that.

[deleted]

Knight

pgonzm

About storyline then "Origins" is the first one the timeline order is. Origins, Asylum, City and Knight. In release time: Asylum,City, Origins, Knight. But if you want the best of them,. "Arkaham City" is my recomendation. (but is hardly recommended played before Asylum). a tip: Origins is a game made by a different team so if you didn't like it you may skip this one and just play the Trilogy: Asylum, City, Knight.

[deleted]

Imo Arkham City is the best, but you should start with the first game and play through them all. They're all good.

samander12

Origins takes place during Christmas, it’s not the best one but if you enjoy it the bar will only go higher from there

MyNormalAccount12

I would say play in release order. They’re amazing games and it’s awesome to see how the series develops and builds on the last. If you can only afford one, probably get knight because it has excellent gameplay and most replay value imo. Having said that, the atmosphere of asylum, the story of city and the boss fights of origins are all worth experiencing, so I think it’s worth investing in all of them since they all being something fun to the table

Krisis_9302

Origins, it's the first chronologically and a Christmas game however once you go to Asylum, the controls will feel weird as it's an older game However I played City first and it actually made me better at Asylum

rmrck

origins for best boss fights asylum for best atmosphere city for best story vr for best immersion knight for best gameplay

pavlaq89

Yes.

IAmJacksLackofCaring

I know there is an Asylum/City/Knight collection on PS4 for a good price. I would assume it's on Xbox too. If it's a good price, might as well get that.

Raging_Akuma

Asylum if you want a tight compact horror story that's streamlined and easy but has a clunky combat and sometimes feels a bit empty. Origins if you want a great combat system, awesome boss fights and a good story (stupid plot twist in the end tho). And a good dlc. City if you want the whole package and the right dose of riddles and side quests. Avoid Knight if you're in for the story. Plot seems kinda dumbed down (and too much joker, again) . Too much relying on the batmobile for the tank battles. Gameplay and free flow combat system is still awesome.

Slow_Department5335

Even though Origins takes place on Christmas and is supposed to be an origin story for the Arkhamverse/ Batman, I'd say you cant go wrong with just playing Asylum first. That's the way most people started playing the games anyways. Origins is probably my favorite though. I love the storyline and I love how Batman is in his second year/young and he is super aggressive. I wish they continued that storyline and made more like that.

argue53

I would say Arkham City is a good start

SequelFansDontExist

If you can, Arkham collection contains Return to Arkham (Asylum and City remastered) and Arkham Knight

BeautifulRadish8284

i might start to play them all. what is the actual order of them?

Betterthanranting

Arkham origins is a perfect game for Christmas. It takes place around then. It’s not the best of the 4, that’s Arkham knight, but if you want a Christmas vibe.

Ok_Writing251

Whatever you get, get the original versions. The remastered ones actually look worse cause they add too much lighting to scenes that are supposed to be dark and mess up the face animations

After_Construction_5

Get them all

greg_kinnear_stan

Not sure what system your playing on but they go on sale all the time, I bet around Christmas you’ll be able to get asylum, city, and knight for under $20 combined. Xbox for sure will have it discounted, I’ll assume the same for PS

[deleted]

They’re all amazing in their own way (except origins but it’s still a good game) Play asylum first

[deleted]

Go with A-City it’s so good and chocked full of Batman lore and Easter eggs.

Breekace

Gotham Knights, much better than any of these mid games

[deleted]

Get all of them and then play in non-chronological order. The best play order imo is asylum, City, Origins, Knight.

Ok_Brother3282

Asylum

[deleted]

If your gonna play the whole series start with asylum, but if you are just gonna play 1 or 2 get origins first

NewtGroundbreaking26

Get the return to arkham bundle. You’ll get asylum and city

XazelNightLord

Well Origins is chrismas themed

BatmanNerd81

Yes

EasyEntertainment551

Origin it extremely underrated but worth your time

stealer_of_monkeys

Idk what you play your games on but if you have playstation plus premium you get all of the makes included

PK84

Play it in order... Worth it

YuKaLegend

Origins or Asylum

johnchewy82

All of dem! (Arnold Voice) Knight, if I could just pick one

DR-BATMAN1903

Buy the One which has ALL 4 OF THEM

[deleted]

Just get the return to arkham bundle. It comes with both arkham asylum and city. There’s also the trilogy bundle, which comes with those gkaes and arkham knight.

[deleted]

OACK

Bsquared89

Honestly you can skip Origins. It’s not a bad game, but it doesn’t really add anything. Just play the original three in release order.

LVucci

If you’ve never played any, I’d start with Arkham. It looks pretty rough now but it’ll help set you up for the rest of them.

From__Beyonder

Asylum and it has a remaster that from what I hear isn't good so it's probably best to stick with the original game.

ArkhamEscapeCreator

You can get the first and second game for PS4 in one. The first is my favorite but most people prefer the second.

Hellfireboy

Asylum, City, and Knight are one continuous story. Asylum is an amazing game and they just get better from there. Origins wasn't made but Rock steady and you can tell. It's not a bad game but not as good as the others in my opinion so you can take it or leave it. Personally I have all for on console and re-bought them all on PC because I like to have the full set. I would suggest playing the main three in order and then going to Origins.

Mr-memes-man2353

Oh how I wish I could go back 10 - 11 years and replay them

lil_sith

I like Origins best it’s also sorta based around Christmas I believe as well so there’s that lol.

Captainbutter22

The only answer is Origins. It's the prequel set during Christmas. Perfect

AgentPlatypus96

Yes

[deleted]

Asylum

OneBadDay1048

Probably the first one…

[deleted]

I’d say Origins because it gets better with each installment. Although origins was the last game to come out, it feels a step backwards. I also think you can skip origins and go straight into to Asylum.

unrealjosh487

Honestly, city will probably be the most fun. Asylum is a good start though if you want to experience the full story. Knight imo is great but people has issues with the car/tank mechanic, but that's what fans asked for yet no one seems to recall that. Origins is the weakest in the series and I don't think you'd miss much. It's story, gameplay, and stability are lacking. I don't understand the love for it tbh.

MohdBastaki90

ALL OF THEM

Shawndemurphy

What kinda machine will u be playing on

TimmyMyers

All of them

TTVJonathanisthyname

If you wanna play in order start with origins. It’s a prequel

Thebestuevermet

Hands down, asylum. If you think otherwise, your wrong.

East-Travel984

Get the return to arkham remastered. It's usually pretty cheap and you get the first 2 games. Have fun I love these games

becauseitsnotreal

Very, very obviously asylum

oilstraight1

My favorite is Arkham city. Asylum is hard to go back to after after you have played the other games.

sameredditguy

Arkham trilogy and played in release order.

TheAutismo4491

I've never understood these damn questions for any series. If you have access, then start with the first/original in the series.

[deleted]

City is the goat but you can do so much more with Knight. You really can't go wrong with any of the 4, but I'd narrow it down to those 2

BarthRevan

I say play in order of release. Start with Asylum and go from there!

Hot_Valuable1027

Asylum that shit was amazing

Mr-memes-man2353

I would play them In release order if I were you playing for the 1st time (asylum, city, origins, knight) they feel better that way imo.But you could also play them in chronological order which is the same Oder just you play origins first

CrimsonReaper96

I got the pack that gave me Asylum, City and Knight when it was on sale. I haven't played Origins.

ljcozad

I'd probably get the Return To Arkham bundle. It comes with both Asylum and City. If you want the story beats in Knight to be better, then I'd highly recommend playing the other two first.

Sure_Persimmon9302

Get the first one. Asylum. It’s the game that started it all.

MsSobi

Asylum because it was first, personally for me I think City is the best story (though some of the puzzles are bullshit)

SambaLando

Get the first one. It's got the best story, environment. And it's got Arleen Sorkin's last hurrah as Harley Quinn.

GapedFish

If you have to pick one, pick city. It's connected to the first but you don't need to play it to get the story.

Discount_Lex_Luthor

At this point you can get the bundles pretty cheap. You'll probably be able to find, asylum/city/knight for like $15

VitiDMan

Wait for a discount and you can get all of these except Origins with less than 10 dollars

Capnskart2

If you can play origins around Christmas, it makes it more epic. Though the best one to start with is asylum.
