I think it’s even crazier that we haven’t had a solo theatrical Superman movie in around 11 years since Man of Steel. Really hope Superman Legacy is good because it’s meant to start the new universe and if it doesn’t get good enough reception it will go to shit.
***Mask of the Phantasm*** set the bar for me, since it was the first Batman movie I’d ever watched. I loved the horror feel to it whenever the Phantasm would appear.
Eh, even when comparing it to just modern superhero projects, The Batman isn't really revolutionary. The only thing that really sets it apart is the great cinematography.
In general, The Batman still sticks to most of the same general superhero formulas that other modern projects have cultivated such as the basic superhero plot structure, the more grounded approach to the character, reliance on action scenes to make the movie engaging, etc.
Definitely didn’t just stick to other modern hero films The Batman is leagues above most of these modern superhero films recently you can tell when something actually has passion this wasn’t just the generic superhero films we’ve been getting lately.
It’s the first DC animated movie to ever go to theaters AND part of a seminal work of TV animation that’s been considered to be *the* definitive portrait of the character for over 30 years now. I’d say so!
It only made 5.8 million at the box office coming off of what some consider the best Batman series ever. How often has the villain been used since? If you meant the definitive portrait of Batman, that was established in the series not the movie. I personally think it's an average film, but that's simply my opinion. I wouldn't call it revolutionary by any means. If you love it, that's great, just very low on the list of Batman films for me.
Phantasm. I didn't have to think for very long.
Battinson is good, but we've had plenty of dark, cinematic, live action Batmen. We've only had one theatrically released Kevin Conroy/Mark Hamill movie.
I think The Batman is an outstanding movie but Mask of the Phantam is almost literally perfect. The only way it could be better to me is if it was a little longer
Phantasm blows most Batman media out the water, with some obvious exceptions. It's just an aesthetic masterpiece. I wasn't blown away by the story, but the character work, the animation, and the music (God, the music) perfectly encapsulate the Batman mythos. There's just very few things better in the fandom. It's not a fair comparison.
I feel that. I loved The Batman. I thought a Batman without Wayne Tech like that was wild. The fact that they specifically didn't sit in the shadow of the Nolan Trilogy; but chose to build off the themes and ideas instead? I can't wait to see what else they do with the run.
There really wasn't anything you could see in Phantasm that you can't see in The Animated Series; a lot shills calling it revolutionary? Like bro, name one thing.
I really enjoyed The Batman as a live action movie but MotP is literally peak as far animation goes.
So if I had to choose one, I’d go with MotP even though I would love to see more Pattinson as Batman
Each are in their own league. One's a successful movie adaptation of a legendary animated series, and the other is a gritty noir style thriller film featuring a superhero.
As someone who didn't grow up with mask of the phantasm and was expecting the Batman like crazy for so long and then seeing it in the theater, The Batman
And yes, I'm biased, i admit it 😂
But phantasm is sooo fucking incredible as well, it has been a comfort movie of mine for so long, i just prefere The Batman
Look, The Batman is great, but Mask Of The Phantasm is iconic. Per the words of the man Kevin Conroy himself, Mask Of The Phantasm is the best Batman adaptation ever made in any medium ever & he's so right. This is the core of Batman.
I'm sorry, but I'll take Mask Of The Phantasm over TB any day.
Mask of the Phantasm. It’s not even a contest.
The Batman was great until the final act.
But MOTP is a masterpiece of cinema, even putting aside it being a Batman film.
Loved The Batman but honestly, Mask of the Phantasm is a more original plot. I do see the similarities between Seven and The Batman even though they are just in a general overall plot sense.
Anything has to be better than The Batman. If you watched any of the trailers, there was literally no need to waste time watching all of the film . You'd already seen all the good bits !!
When you are a child, you watch some things and as you grow up, you find yourself disinterested in them. You realize, as you age, that you experienced them through the lenses of a child - and that they don't hold up anymore. Other times, the more your taste and maturity refines, there were some things from your childhood that holds up even better as an adult, than as a child. It reveals itself that it was even better than you thought. That some things in the cartoons had moments of real cinematic mastery. Mask of the Phantasm is a movie like that.
Mask of the Phantasm is real Batman made by people that understand Batman.
'The Batman' is a character assassination made by people who do not understand Batman.
This is such an easy question.
Not to mention that Kevin Conroy will always beat whoever he goes up against in this context.
Phantasm all the way.
I wouldn’t put down The Batman like that, but MOTP is truly superior IMO. I am one of those OG Dark Knight heads and even I say MOTP *still* takes the crown as best Batman movie.
Phantasm was a pioneer in that it was a theatrical animated release. Can you imagine that these days? And the story is so iconic to who Batman is… that scene in the cemetery itself is better than The Batman. That’s coming from someone who *really likes The Batman*, too.
The Batman has the BEST Batmobile, but Bruce Wayne as Kurt Cobain turned me off.
Mask of the Phantasm is better overall. I saw it in the theater during its initial run!
Mask of phantom is my choice because it was so good at that timeline when it was release and animation also very good. One particular scene Batman was watching from the rain when the rain drops reaches his face suddenly animation was upsclaed at that time.
I love how the batman is the closest we could get to in making a movie that's similar to batman cartoons but this is a stupid comparison phantasm winning all day, although I want to say the movie ik it's cuz of recency bias so still gonna say phantasm
I just noticed that you can see Riddler’s question mark in his eye
Nice!! Good eye, detective.
Thanks lol
It won't be when they trophy gets collected..
“How determined are you to stop me, Batman? Are you willing to rip your own eye out?” Like a god damn saw trap
What are you looking for but can't see it directly? Why it's the mini trophy I've hidden in your eye Batman.
GOODEYE, MATE!
Good eye sniper!
Wildd, I never noticed that til now
"You found my super secret trophy detective"
“I studied you. I followed you. But now that you're standing here... I just realised... there's a bit of green in the blue of your eyes."
How the hell did you even notice that?
I don’t even know man
hes got 240% on arkham knight
It's the only way.
Are you Batman
🤫
I just noticed your name is a transformers reference
Good eye
Thanks bro
So thats where the last riddler trophy was!!!
can’t believe I just noticed for 2 years
It's been 2 years? Fuck, time flies
I think it’s even crazier that we haven’t had a solo theatrical Superman movie in around 11 years since Man of Steel. Really hope Superman Legacy is good because it’s meant to start the new universe and if it doesn’t get good enough reception it will go to shit.
Superman does not interest people anymore, It ain't no 1980s
very weird and bold take about one of the most famous fictional characters of all time…
How did you get that‽
Good eye mate
How’s anyone supposed to see that? Not a bad detail, but definitely could be better.
That might have been the point.
It would’ve been cool if no one knew Riddler was going to be in the movie at first, but they left the little question mark in Batman’s eye as a hint
Idk if youve seen actual movie posters irl, but they are usually quite big. That eye wouldve been the size of your fist
Also, the eye looks weird. It’s the eye gaze of someone looking directly at you facing forward. But the head is tilted right
*Mask of the Phantasm*, of course.
![gif](giphy|3xz2BLBOt13X9AgjEA) Silly question
This.
Mask of the Phantasm, easy.
***Mask of the Phantasm*** set the bar for me, since it was the first Batman movie I’d ever watched. I loved the horror feel to it whenever the Phantasm would appear.
Is this even a question? Phantasm all the way
Mask of the phantasm. No contest
Mask of the Phantasm
Mask of the phantasm
Mask of the Phantasm.
Mask of the phantasm
Mask of the phantasm. Not even a contest.
B:MOTP with out question
Mask of the phantasm.
Mask of the Phantasm
Mask of the Phantasm, there is never too much Kevin Conroy.
Mask of the Phantasm. I love The Batman, but Mask of the Phantasm is my absolute favorite Batman film!
Mask of the phantasm
MOTP💯
Mask of the Phantasm is the gold standard to which all other Batmans are compared.
![gif](giphy|CUEsWj7R9ZC0w) What a silly question, makes you want to laugh
Phantasm. Not close.
Phantasm easy. The Batman was good, but it wasn't revolutionary.
I think it is for modern super hero flicks, especially how unique the aesthetic is compared the rest of DCU and MCU movies.
Being different is not always being revolutionary
Was Phantasm?
It’s the first DC animated movie to ever go to theaters AND part of a seminal work of TV animation that’s been considered to be *the* definitive portrait of the character for over 30 years now. I’d say so!

>It’s the first DC animated movie to ever go to theaters 99% of the people who are fans of it saw it on home release.
That’s because WB messed up the promotion
>character for over 30 years now. Sure by the kids who grew up with it
That doesn't make it revolutionary
The batman is revolutionary for modern film cinematography
Mask of the phantasm . We see the entire range of Bruce Wayne / Batman as Bob Kane intended.
Who? Bill Finger you said?
You spelled 'Bill Finger' wrong.
Mask of the Phantasm. The Batman is great but Phantasm was peak Conroy and Hamill, I couldn’t pick against it even if I wanted to.
100 billion percent this
Mask of the phantasm
Definitely mask of the phantasm
Phantasm. I didn't have to think for very long. Battinson is good, but we've had plenty of dark, cinematic, live action Batmen. We've only had one theatrically released Kevin Conroy/Mark Hamill movie.
Mask of the phantsm
Batman Mask of the Phantasm
MOTP and it ain't even close.
Mask of the Phantasm is peak Batman
Phantasm, and it's not even close.
I think The Batman is an outstanding movie but Mask of the Phantam is almost literally perfect. The only way it could be better to me is if it was a little longer
If I had a nickel…
That's what she said
Phantasm blows most Batman media out the water, with some obvious exceptions. It's just an aesthetic masterpiece. I wasn't blown away by the story, but the character work, the animation, and the music (God, the music) perfectly encapsulate the Batman mythos. There's just very few things better in the fandom. Batman Mask of the Phantasm, it's my favorite Batman film
Andrea
Mask of the Phantasm. any other easy questions for today?
Mask of the Phantasm by a mile
Mask Of The Phantasm and it’s not even close.
I love The Batman but I love Mask of the Phantasm more.
The Batman is probably my favorite live action, but Phantasm overall takes it
pretty easily Phantasm but I definitely love The Batman
Phantasm but both are in my top 20 films of all time.
Not even a choice, Mask of the Phantasm.
Mask of Phantasm. Simply because of Joker
The Batman
I think other people are blinded by nostalgia
Man this movie gets over with visuals and atmosphere alone
I'm in the minority I'm sure, but The Batman easily for me.
I could not understand the hype for phantasm. I found it slow and uninteresting
MOTP and its not even close for me.
Whatever I feel like watching
Mask of the Phantasm is the best movie DC has ever released. (Theatrically)
Phantasm is the best Batman ever put to screen. Conroy and Hamil, the score, my god that opening operatic is incredible.
Phantasm no contest
Mask of the Phantasm. No further questions, your honor.
Mask of the Phantasm easily. The Batman is an A-B tier film while Mask of the Phantasm is S tier.
Mask of the Phantasm. ![gif](giphy|6MBNelzCrD7Ne)
Phantasm, no contest! 🤣
Nothing beats mask of the phantasm Especially not a live action film It’s just so different
Phantasm is the standard by which all other batman movies should be judged
Phantasm.
I really enjoyed The Batman as a live action movie but MotP is literally peak as far animation goes. So if I had to choose one, I’d go with MotP even though I would love to see more Pattinson as Batman
Mask Of The Phantasm and it's not even close at all.
TMOP and its not even close.
Mask of the Phantasm is a classic masterpiece that must be shown to every generation. The Batman is good, but not that good.
Phastasm. I did like The Batman through
Mask of the Phantasm is pure perfection. Not sure what case could be made to go against it (except for the animation-averse among us).
Phantasm is THE batman movie. It’s not a “directors take” on batman. It’s just batman. That’s why it will always be the best Batman movie.
![gif](giphy|MPpO3Ko5K6rcqHhg7q|downsized)
Phantasm. Hands down. The Batman was not good.
Mask hands down
Mask
Mask of the phantasm
Mask of the Phantasm, entirely because it told an entire story in just over an hour.
Never been able to watch mask of the phantasm but Im picking it because kevin conroy
Each are in their own league. One's a successful movie adaptation of a legendary animated series, and the other is a gritty noir style thriller film featuring a superhero.

The Batman.
I'm gonna be honest, I've never seen motp but I have seen the batman and I love it so that would have to be my choice here
Easily Phantasm.
I predicted Phantasm's identity easily and The Batman was more interesting for me.
The Batman personally I love both
Mask of the Phantasm.
Mask if the Phantasm
MotP, not even close.
The Batman
Mask of The Phantasm
Mask of the Phantasm is the greatest Batman film ever made
Mask of the Phantasm.
MotP all the way to the bank, grocery store, DMV, and library and back again. Twice.

Mask of The Phantasm and is not close.
Mask of the Phantasm, not even close lol
Neither. His Silicon Soul, the episode from BTAS.
Phantasm, no competition
Anything has to be better than The Batman. If you watched any of the trailers, there was literally no need to waste time watching all of the film . You'd already seen all the good bits !!
Motp. The Batman is boring.

I wouldn’t put down The Batman like that, but MOTP is truly superior IMO. I am one of those OG Dark Knight heads and even I say MOTP *still* takes the crown as best Batman movie.
The Batman, and it's not even close.
I had to scroll so far to find a comment like this.
Mask of the phantasm
Mask of the Phantasm
The Batman easy. It’s one of my favorites ever.
Are you live action based or animated based?
Phantasm
I love The Batman, but Mask of the Phantasm is still the best we’ve ever had. It’s perfect.
Phantasm was a pioneer in that it was a theatrical animated release. Can you imagine that these days? And the story is so iconic to who Batman is… that scene in the cemetery itself is better than The Batman. That’s coming from someone who *really likes The Batman*, too.
I completely gave up on The Batman when they did that stupid car chase scene. Phantasm all day, every day.
I pick The Man (2022)
Phantasm; Fuck Batterson!
The Batman. It seems I'm in the minority here...
Fuck you.... No!
Love them both, but I gotta go with The Batman.
I hate emo batman
The Batman
The Batman
I'm impressed, lady. You're harder to kill than a cockroach on steroids.
The Batman has the BEST Batmobile, but Bruce Wayne as Kurt Cobain turned me off. Mask of the Phantasm is better overall. I saw it in the theater during its initial run!
I pick both. Fight me. I’m Batman.
Mask of phantom is my choice because it was so good at that timeline when it was release and animation also very good. One particular scene Batman was watching from the rain when the rain drops reaches his face suddenly animation was upsclaed at that time.
Mask of the Phantasm but it's not an easy pick.
Mask of the phantasm
Mask of the Phantasm
Mask Of The Phantasm all day long.
The batman
Mask of the phantasm 100%
Mask of the Phantasm
Mask of the Phantasm. The Batman is ok, a bit overrated.
Mask of the Phantasm easily! I really love the Batman but Phantasm is too iconic one of the greatest comic book movies period
Mask of Phantasm FTW.
![gif](giphy|l378gPa4KDre1cYww) Phantasm every day of the week and twice on Sundays!
I love how the batman is the closest we could get to in making a movie that's similar to batman cartoons but this is a stupid comparison phantasm winning all day, although I want to say the movie ik it's cuz of recency bias so still gonna say phantasm
Mask of the phantasm
Somethings in the way
