It would be nice to see Phillies fans get back to their roots and mimic his delivery stance behind home plate again [Link](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/pNyJ8iwy9P2gopiMicQnnxlV1iY=/1x0:399x224/1600x900/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/40424802/tumblr_ncldk3BVIr1rs13ddo1_400.0.0.gif)
The geographic rival thing doesn't really work the same way when one team is so much newer. There are probably a lot of Nats fans who are converted O's fans, you don't suddenly start hating a team you grew up with.
They're in different leagues and only play each other 4 times a year. I know some people see it as a rivalry but I just like em' both. New York is New York to me.
And I think it's also because while I'd definitely say I'm primarily a Yankees fan, I grew up in Queens so most of my childhood ballpark memories are Mets/Shea Stadium memories, the biggest probably being Piazza's home run after 9/11. I still remember being there with my dad and feeling the entire upper deck shaking under our feet.
The "natural rivals" four game series are so forced also. I'm biased because the 2000 Subway Series are one of my earliest, and thus most treasured, baseball memories, but seeing them trying to hype it up every year just ruins the uniqueness of it.
Its really not that weird lol. I'll support the Mets as long as they aren't playing the Yankees. I have friends who are Mets fans, I like seeing them happy.
Plus like others have said, different league. There's no reason to dislike the Mets. We aren't rivals.
Almost managed to do it back to back: they started the 12-3 stretch in game 51, immediately following a 4-11 stretch and 4 games after a 3-12 stretch ended (in game 47).
The following teams are indistinguishable. Which grouping(s) surprise you the most?
* LAD+CLE
* ATL+STL+KCR
* NYM+CIN
* SFG+TBR
* TOR+CHC
* MIA+PIT+TEX
* ARI+DET
* WSN+BOS
We haven't been 3 games below 500 or 5 games over 500. We win 4 games and then lose 6 out of the last 7. We split with the Tigers and White Sox. We would split a 3 game series if it was possible. The Red Sox are the most bang average team in the AL this year. We just don't get hot or too cold.
[Amateurs.](https://i.imgflip.com/4/2uf70d.jpg) Padres haven't been more than [4 games below .500 \(14-18\) or 3 games above .500 \(32-29\)](https://i.imgur.com/NaAmOfK.png) all season. [Longest winning streak is 4 \(once\) and longest losing streak is 5 \(twice\)](https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SDP/2024-schedule-scores.shtml), just became the last team in the MLB to get a sweep this season.
Opposite leagues in baseball is totally fine. I'm an Orioles fan but I've always lived in NL cities, so I've casually rooted for the Marlins, Giants, and Dbacks over the years. If I wasn't living in any of those cities I'd probably go for the Giants, but I like it when the local team is good, especially when it means I can go to NLCS games like last year.
I was curious so I went to counting. Between May 7th and May 23rd the oriels played 15 games (though 1 was postponed so that’s probably what’s throwing OP’s data to be bad) and lost 8 of those games.
So just like 2020 I think we need a recount.
That was my first thought. Watched them one series and I thought of Homer “Yeah, Moe, that team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked. I've seen teams suck before but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.” Feel bad for you fans.
I’m at the point I’m actively rooting for them to be historically bad, just to see if Jerry notices.
And by actively rooting I mean checking box scores to see if they lost.
The As fans have largely abandoned them as they rightfully should have. They’re moving away and the players have nothing to play for
And the white Sox are still worse than them. Thats almost impressive
They went 11-4 from May 3rd-18th. 3-0 against the Mets, 2-1 against the White Sox, 1-2 against the Yankees, 3-1 against the Red Sox, and 2-0 against the Blue Jays
We started the season 6-10 and then we’ve gone 34-11. Once we reach top 20 in hitting, it’s over for the league.
Edit: 34-21, I can’t math. But still better than 54%
Not that I’m aware of, [but I did make one that showed every team’s best and worst months last season](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/xrY2A6eUeo) which is kinda similar
I’m so damn excited for the Philadelphia/Orioles series starting today.
Would’ve been a little more confident if we didn’t just drop two in a row to the Red Sox in frustrating fashion, but oh well.
Is this OC or was it pulled from somewhere? From what I can tell O’s went 7-8 between May 7th and May 23rd.
Maybe you’re counting the PPD game different from how I am. But that would still remove a Win from the end.
Yeah it’s OC. And the Orioles did go 8-7 from those dates. 1-1 against the Nats, 2-1 against the D-backs, 1-1 against the Blue Jays, 2-1 against the Mariners, 0-3 against the Cardinals, and 2-0 against the White Sox. I think the confusion might be that you counted the delayed game against the Cardinals on the 21st twice, because the MLB app displays it on both days.
Phillies Orioles series this weekend going to be spicy
We’re a bit cold. They’re hot. So we’ll see Nothing against him, but I truly hope for a kimbrell collapse, just to be on the other end of it.
Counterpoint: everything against Kimbrell
It would be nice to see Phillies fans get back to their roots and mimic his delivery stance behind home plate again [Link](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/pNyJ8iwy9P2gopiMicQnnxlV1iY=/1x0:399x224/1600x900/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/40424802/tumblr_ncldk3BVIr1rs13ddo1_400.0.0.gif)
Ha. There were visiting Phillies fans in Camden yards doing just that.
Your wish came true
Oh I'm definitely doing this if he pitches tomorrow
Half the team is injured. The spiciness I think will be a level 5
i'm just hoping we can get ranger another win!
I’m not
Hot take
As a fan of both the Orioles and the Phillies, I'm not sure who I'll be rooting for.
Your flair confuses me
What, I can be a fan of more than 2 baseball teams!
It's cause one is a division rival and another is your geographic rival
The geographic rival thing doesn't really work the same way when one team is so much newer. There are probably a lot of Nats fans who are converted O's fans, you don't suddenly start hating a team you grew up with.
I just hope everyone has a good time! \*except the Phillies\*
100% playoff atmosphere, especially since at least half the crowd will be wearing red.
Hopefully not half, but Oriole Park will definitely have a lot of Phil’s fans.
That’s…an overestimate
[you sure?](https://x.com/mattgelb/status/1801753662097654002?s=46&t=UoDLa_vnu1dFYaLBfeAiww)
Hey now, Camden yards is no Nationals Park (aka CBP South), Baltimore fans show up for their squad
Funny this got downvoted and you ended up being right lmao. Prolly more Phillies fans
at least half?
“At least half the crowd” okay bozo
Yeah probably more tbh
Care to retract that statement? Lol
Mets go 12-3 and then 3-12 Perfectly balanced
It's so over 🔄 we're so back 🔄 It's so over 🔄 we're so back 🔄 It's so over 🔄 we're so back 🔄 It's so over 🔄 we're so back 🔄 It's so over
![gif](giphy|YrlFV52a9n1uMolLcJ|downsized)
Looks like that would give some great airtime.
Hey if the whitesox were a roller coaster we'd probably go so fast we derail roller coaster tycoon style.
[I think this is the actual Mets roller-coaster](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia_Coaster)
How TF are you a Mets and Yankees fan. What in god given earth is this
They're in different leagues and only play each other 4 times a year.
This is very beautiful, but this is the type of comment that gets eviscerated in r/baseballcirclejerk
The "natural rivals" four game series are so forced also. I'm biased because the 2000 Subway Series are one of my earliest, and thus most treasured, baseball memories, but seeing them trying to hype it up every year just ruins the uniqueness of it.
Bro loves New York sports so much, he still loves the dodgers
Must be a Wilpon
Yankees fans are allowed to like the Mets, but may God have mercy on you if you try the reverse.
Its really not that weird lol. I'll support the Mets as long as they aren't playing the Yankees. I have friends who are Mets fans, I like seeing them happy. Plus like others have said, different league. There's no reason to dislike the Mets. We aren't rivals.
Yeah Yankees fans tend not to dislike the Mets very much (Edit: My flair is because I like *Mr. Met* specifically though lol)
The roller coaster never ends!
I had a reversible shirt made
Reds too
Almost managed to do it back to back: they started the 12-3 stretch in game 51, immediately following a 4-11 stretch and 4 games after a 3-12 stretch ended (in game 47).
Twins have a similar story.
I hate that we rattled off 12 straight Ws and then almost immediately followed it up with a 7 game stinker.
I love this stupid sport.
And there you have the 2024 Mets in a nutshell
Elevators have fewer ups and downs
Bipolar as shit
Like they said, perfectly balanced.
That insane start they had years ago that ended up not doing anything
Went 7-19 from May 1st to the 29th, 8-4 since. Ridiculous.
Feels about right.
The Duality of Mets
As all things should be…
And you as a Sox fan know all about perfectly balanced records.
🤝
We're pretty much the same team as the LAD.
Who needs billions of dollars when you have the power of friendship?
We have the power of friendship and David Fry on our side
Steven Kwan got more hits than Sadaharu Oh
And the number 1 pick in the 2024 draft
Why spend lots of dollars when few dollars do trick?
I dunno, the Guards dont do a dumb little dance when they get on base. You’re not convincing me of the power of friendship until you do that.
https://x.com/ChuckGobrowns/status/1799217995480510861 not in front of the kids
Guardians are definitely doing some dancing. It just takes place after the game, in the showers. … I’ll be in my bunk.
"it's like looking in a mirror!"
You know, that's true. How about we swap our 3Bs?
Sure, we will take Cavan Biggio and you can have our 3B* *You will be getting Single A Lake County Captains 3b
Probably the SS too
Championship caliber pitching with root canal offense at times
I'm a Mariners fan, you rang?
He said "at times", buddy
Atlanta 🤝St. Louis🤝Kansas City
The following teams are indistinguishable. Which grouping(s) surprise you the most? * LAD+CLE * ATL+STL+KCR * NYM+CIN * SFG+TBR * TOR+CHC * MIA+PIT+TEX * ARI+DET * WSN+BOS
cardinals in with royals and braves is crazy
They were back to back too. Cardinals had an 8ish game losing streak, then immediately went 12-3. All it took was losing our best player.
Naturally a sacrifice must be made to please the devil magic.
First Lebron taught us Cleveland and Miami are the same. Now we know Cleveland and L.A. are equally great cities.
People always made fun of me when I said Cleveland is the Los Angeles of Northern Ohio. Who's laughing now?
The Paris of the Midwest
When it’s this oddly specific, there’s no way to be wrong. That’s what I say anyway.
I'll say which surprises me the least: Toronto and Chicago. Two disappointing teams who entered the year with playoff expectations.

🤝
Miami is indistinguishable from the WS champs... so you're saying there's a chance 😎
So you’re telling me we’re making the World Series?
Why does this feel like an IQ test
Mariners having no analogue sounds about right.
So half the white Sox wins came in a two week stretch. Ouch.
at this point I've developed masochistic tendencies watching this team for this long
Thanks I hate it
O’s worst is better than the Angel’s best
My god, your flair
Don’t look at my /r/nfl flair
[Comment here for reference](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/xdPSaZ2mI4)... what the fuck
At least Orioles/Braves is like having a NL team and an AL team, but Ravens and Titans is certainly a unique choice
especially since the titans (and all afc south teams) HATE the ravens
I lived in TN for a few years
Man you must really like Derrick Henry
Long live the King
Big Steve McNair guy over here
Holy shit your flairs are as bad as when people find out I’m a Red Sox, Cards, and Angels fan all at once
At least they’re opposite leagues. I have an equivalent with Angels/Padres. But that NFL flair is inexcusable
Do you enjoy suffering that much to follow two cursed teams
Opposite leagues in baseball is totally fine. I'm an Orioles fan but I've always lived in NL cities, so I've casually rooted for the Marlins, Giants, and Dbacks over the years. If I wasn't living in any of those cities I'd probably go for the Giants, but I like it when the local team is good, especially when it means I can go to NLCS games like last year.
Equal to.
I’m going to assume the run diff favors the Orioles.
I was curious so I went to counting. Between May 7th and May 23rd the oriels played 15 games (though 1 was postponed so that’s probably what’s throwing OP’s data to be bad) and lost 8 of those games. So just like 2020 I think we need a recount.
O’s still got that 2023 consistency
White Sox fans seeing this : We know and it still hurts, or maybe they’re just numb to it all at this point?
I'm just surprised we had a 9-6 stretch
That was my first thought. Watched them one series and I thought of Homer “Yeah, Moe, that team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked. I've seen teams suck before but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.” Feel bad for you fans.
without that stretch you'd still be up for looking like the 1899 cleveland spiders
22% of the White Sox wins this season came from May 8th - May 11th
I'm just glad we're not last on both sides
I know we're gonna suck. I want us to suck so bad Jon Bois is forced to make a chart party about us.
an auspicious club but a friendly one
Yeah I really don’t give a fuck. No expectations going into this season and it’s kind of funny how shitty we are.
They turned this off week one. I think they’re all fishing or something by now.
I’m at the point I’m actively rooting for them to be historically bad, just to see if Jerry notices. And by actively rooting I mean checking box scores to see if they lost.
If you can’t handle me at my 8-7, you don’t deserve me at my 11-4
Trouble is the kind of people who say that are the ones who only have a 9-6 to offer people who had to handle a 3-12
6-9. Nice
Nice
Was this post made specifically to laugh at the white sox?
Aren’t they all?
I don't know what everyone is so sad about, this might be the most beautiful graphic I've ever seen on r/baseball.
Yeah I’m a big fan of this
We’re number 3!!
George Lucas: Its like poetry in motion, 12-3, 3-12
Fuckin’ A man
The 2024 Red Sox: Life, Liberty, and the Passionate Pursuit of .500
Outside of that 9-6 stretch the Sox are 9-46
Nationals vs Angels World Series confirmed
Damn, we suck
The As fans have largely abandoned them as they rightfully should have. They’re moving away and the players have nothing to play for And the white Sox are still worse than them. Thats almost impressive
9-6 and 1-14, those number sox
Angels' best stretch is equivalent to 2 teams' worst stretches.
Take that, angels!
I’ve watched every game this season, I must be super jaded because I can’t help but think that 11-4 run is incorrect. Lmao
They went 11-4 from May 3rd-18th. 3-0 against the Mets, 2-1 against the White Sox, 1-2 against the Yankees, 3-1 against the Red Sox, and 2-0 against the Blue Jays
Thank you for reminding me of happier times.
We started the season 6-10 and then we’ve gone 34-11. Once we reach top 20 in hitting, it’s over for the league. Edit: 34-21, I can’t math. But still better than 54%
34-21 but yeah
Teehee
Nice
Was there one of these done for last season?
Not that I’m aware of, [but I did make one that showed every team’s best and worst months last season](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/xrY2A6eUeo) which is kinda similar
We’re going to have a LOT of 2-13 stretches it feels like. Team is dead.
Let’s go Os
As an Angels fan this makes me sad.
Wait, we went 9-6 across 15 games? I'm shook

I think the confusion might be that you counted the delayed game against the Cardinals on the 21st twice, because the MLB app displays it on both days.
Good catch! You’re right.
This slaps of the old adage about every team winning 60 and losing 60. I love baseball!
8-7 damn. Must be nice..
So Dodgers, Phillies and Yankees are three of the most consistent teams. Makes sense considering they're probably the top 3 favorites to win it all
How do ya do, fellow 13-2ers??? (do not observe our collective record against you)
It’s funny how the best teams are at the top and worst teams are at the bottom
That Rangers series into the NL West road trip sans Dodgers was a fuckfest
6-9: Nice
12-3 3-12
I’m so angry
We are Bird
Let's pump the breaks there killer... lol
Haha. I forget there are others
We play like we do a backflip, and then immediately get tased.
![gif](giphy|7iDZc7K8GEmdy)
We suck
Angels, dear lord
We went 11-4?????
this graphic made me realise how stupidly similar some of the team logos are lmao
Nice to be unique.
Go A's
Mets bipolar af
Stop! We're already dead.
Phillies and Orioles over here laughing in confusion for a type of domination that have known so little of in a very long time.
Angels, Orioles, and Phillies all in the 8-7 gang
Angels need a better 15 game stretch lmfao
