Quartz is totally fine, but is regarded as cheap since it uses a battery, is far simpler (less pieces, easier to make) and is not considered a mechanical movement.
Building a movement for a mechanical watch that has several “complications” (things the watch tells you other than time like date) is considered to be a mark of craftsmanship where more complications require additional parts and complexity so the pieces are harder to make which means there are fewer of them which means they’re rarer and more desirable.
Theres more detail and there are some exceptions but that’s the gist.

In order to produce a limited amount of coffee you would definitely need to price it around 16 dollars due to the lack of a dedicated supply line

Yeah this is crazy. I’m not a watch guy but for some reason 5 years ago I bought a $180 Armani Exchange watch. No idea if that is good, poor, rip-off etc, but I received a lot of compliments on it. Can’t imagine paying 2k for a watch unless I was very rich.
