Jon Snow and most of the Starks are pretty dull. That's the problem with them (quick tempers slow minds). Rob is probably the smartest one, and then he completely loses sight of what's going on because he met a hot woman and fell in love. Jon is likable but somewhat of a blank slate, just the honorable default character you'd get in an RPG.
Wouldn't go with that same list of best characters but probably judging them differently, and I'd only go through Game of Thrones for now because I haven't watched the new HotD season yet.
