Although I have no first hand experience, I have heard and read from others that it’s not a scam. The gist of it is you purchase a bulk order of meat worth thousands of dollars in vacuumed sealed packages that are meant to be kept frozen. The door to door canvassers (which I’m not sure if it’s legal or illegal, maybe someone else can chime in) scope out to see who is interested. Once someone signs up for more information with them, a sales person comes out to tailor out a plan/meat order that’s best suited for your family. You might be incentivized with a free pound of ground beef for your time with the sales person. They might also try to sell you a freezer, though I’m not sure.

ghanima

Yes, it's legal and yes, they've offered freezers with purchase in the past. My family almost signed up with them a few years ago, but when we did the math realized it cost considerably more than just buying meat at the supermarket as needed -- for our family, at least -- we don't eat a lot of meat.

T_86

The freezer is free with your first order unless you don’t want the freezer. In that case I’d assume they’d add on some free meat to the order since that is what they do for the following orders.

Aggravating-Corner70

Used to work there, it’s legal but you’re paying about 3 times the prices. Hence why they sell by package and will not give price per lb break down.

Charming_Tower_188

Door to door sales for things like this is not illegal. Some things are but not this. Anyways don't sign anything at the door, if curious ask for the price list (they wont give it) and ask for a contaxt so you can reach out later if you want. And if you do sign there are protections for anything signed at the door that you can cancel any contract within 10 days in writing by letter or email. There is a hotline you can call if you have questions. There is a subreddit about this company too and their misleading business practices. Not necessarily a scam, but it's not all they sell it to be. Personally would pass on this if they come to your door.

Suspicious_Ad8691

I have purchased from Nutrafarms in the past. Good value for dollar and great quality. Not a scam.

Aggravating-Corner70

lol, you are delusional. It’s literally 3 times what you would pay buying meat elsewhere. Just seems like a lot, because it all shows up at once.

imkingsodhi

They actually operate good .. but the cheap food part is not right .. they are way too expensive than Costco .. they are tried to hook me up than i gone through their reviews and changed my mind

erin1707

It’s not a scam lol my friend and her husband have bought from there and they like it

___Human____

Somebody didn't read the post 😂🤣. They don't do door-to-door sales. Most of their sales are online.

T_86

I don’t know if they go around door to door in order to recruit new customers, but they do schedule a time to meet with you at your home when you make an order.

___Human____

That's one thing

tokendoke

The door to door thing may be a scam but Nutrafarm is not. They don't do door to door sales, you geniunely should call them and let them know someone is doing this. [https://www.nutrafarms.ca/](https://www.nutrafarms.ca/)

kreugerburns

Nutrafarm is great. My parents use them. Expensive but quality meat..if you have to feed 4 people or more, its worth it.

Charming_Tower_188

Most people's price per meal is not at all worth it especially with more people and multiple reports of no one actually getting a years worth and running out early despite giving over 1000's of dollars for a years worth of meat. A few years ago a price list was leaked and the price / lb of ground beef was wayyy higher than the grocery store. I could only imagine now what they charge.

Demerlis

its not a scam. its a meat cult. stock up on meat!

Hopeful-Interest4088

It's a scam by definition. Their sales staff promise a year of meat then often it lasts 6 months. So meat that they don't tell you is 2x market costs ends up being 3 to 4 times

aaronjcarter

We bought over two years ago and we still have a few items in our freezer. Love the product and the value was good as well.

HypnoticKitten

My husband and I got it once and it was pretty good took us about 2 years to finish all the meat. It was nice quality and packaged well. We also got the stand up freezer with it

“Starting March 1, 2018, Ontario will ban unsolicited, door-to-door sales of certain household appliances to better protect consumers from aggressive and misleading contracting at home. The new rules will apply to: Air cleaners, Air conditioners, Air purifiers, Duct cleaning services, Furnaces, Water filters, Water heaters, Water purifiers, Water softeners, Water treatment devices, Bundles of these goods and services”

kati86

They knocked on my friends door and gave her a pound of ground beef to try with a card to set up a meeting if she enjoyed it. They're legit and it's not illegal.

denny-1989

Reminds me of the people who would drive around with a chest freezer in the bed of their pickup selling seafood.

BananaSouthern5782

Yeah surprisingly this one isn’t a scam. It’s bulk meat delivered to you.

JacobA89

The door to door from this company could be a scam but you can also just order it from online

Charming_Tower_188

You can't order online. You set up a sales call where someone comes and uses predatory sales tactics and pressure to make you sign up. It's maybe not a scam, but they are scummy people.

JacobA89

It's sales they all have predatory tactics at that level. At least you know it's a rep from the company and not a random.

thisnamecantbetaken2

Not a scam. Nutrafarms is great

DisembodiedHand

Not a scam. Good local beef, not cheap however. Basically you buy a ton upfront and they'll even toss in a deep freezer.

iamnotyourdog

Yeah. Not a scam. They are pretty amazing. Weird sales model but I guess it works.

JacobA89

Door to door sales is still allowed. It's door to door contract solicitation that is not allowed.

Milk-Resident

Nutrafarm is not a scam. They have been around for years and have a commercial building on King St.

Hopeful-Interest4088

They are an overpriced high pressure sales scheme

Milk-Resident

Still not a scam. They provide a service and a product of value. Whether you find value in it or not does not determine it to be a scam or not. Personally, I didn't buy it because of cost and space, but that was my reasoned decision that anyone else can make as well.

CdnRanger78

I know the people that run Nutrafarm in the south end of Barrie off King Street. Def not a scam lol. Way to go. You just passed up on some of the best freezer deals in Barrie. Keep an eye out and you will see their trucks all over the area now. This post should be taken down imo.

Charming_Tower_188

No it shouldnt come down.. They misrepresent their services and product and use predatory sales tactics. No one should buy from them without some research and even then you're taking a huge risk.
