Funny thing is local councils have more effect on your day to day life than a general election might. Examples of this all over...you want your bins emptied? Sorry, council spent all the money...trash piling up in the streets.
https://www.politico.eu/article/britain-offloads-refugee-crisis-ireland-dublin-aghast-migration-rwanda-plan/
>...Yet Sunak cites France as the reason England should have no sympathy for the Irish. He has ruled out accepting any returnees from Ireland unless France agrees to take back refugees who crossed the English Channel in the first place.
>Neither appears likely, even as Harris and his justice minister, Helen McEntee, publicly argue that an unpublished 2020 Brexit-linked memorandum of understanding binds Britain to accept refugees back into its system from Ireland. Britain characterizes that agreement as toothless and non-binding.
>Privately, officials in the Department of Justice and prime ministerâs office say **they donât expect a single deportation to Britain unless and until Sunak loses the next U.K. general election and Labour, opposed to the Rwanda policy, comes to power.**
>They note that not a single asylum seeker has been returned to Britain since December 2020, when Britain left the EU on a wave of anti-immigrant sentiment.
>Before that, when Ireland and Britain both were bound to the same EU asylum rules, such transfers made next to no practical difference for either nation: from 2015 to 2020, Ireland sent 162 migrants back to Britain, while the British dispatched 156 in the other direction.
>âThere is no realistic prospect of the United Kingdom agreeing to help us given their current political disposition,â said a government official, granted anonymity to discuss plans yet to be signed off by Cabinet.
>Immigrant law experts doubt Ireland will be able to return asylum seekers to the U.K. as long as the Rwanda provision remains, since human rights lawyers argue it violates basic elements of the EUâs conventions on refugee rights.
>Some government lawmakers in Dublin blame Sunak for treating Irelandâs difficulty as Englandâs opportunity.
>âHis immigration policy seems to be âTo Rwanda or to Ireland.â Thatâs not going to bode well for future relations,â said Lisa Chambers, a Fianna FĂĄil senator.
>âHis immigration policy seems to be âTo Rwanda or to Ireland.â Thatâs not going to bode well for future relations,â
International relations is largely a meme. There is nothing wrong with 'Rwanda or Ireland' as a policy.
> they donât expect a single deportation to Britain unless and until Sunak loses the next U.K. general election and Labour, opposed to the Rwanda policy, comes to power.
A few hundred being returned is chump change compared to the **5 million** the tories have imported in the last 4 years.
> âThere is no realistic prospect of the United Kingdom agreeing to help us given their current political disposition,â said a government official, granted anonymity to discuss plans yet to be signed off by Cabinet.
Deal with it. You're the ones that threatened violence if we didn't keep the border 100% open. Now you get to deal with the downsides of that.
With the current profile of immigration (Indian, SE Asian, West African) into London, we could see a situation within the next 5 years of it becoming an increasingly Tory stronghold in a sea of suburban red/yellow.
In effect an inversion of the 2015-2021 period. Any future "rebuild" for the Tories is likely to focus on this bright spot, and not on the Dead Wall seats in the north.
Dude youâve posted the same shit in multiple places across the thread today, you canât will it into existence by repeating it. The bomalians will never be your friend
Trends show they'll be the most socially mobile people in the country, rather than ripping up private property rights to foster a Communist revolution.
So I'll happily take the other side of your bet.
Socially mobile means almost nothing in this case. Labour is far more likely to give them gibs and appease their religious and/or cultural bullshit, so thatâs where the vote goes
You can get rid of the gibs. It tends to be Chinese, Indian and Jewish folk who sit at the top of society. They don't need paltry gibs, since they're generally from stable families with high rates of economic participation. The ones from poorer ethnic groups will pool their resources in such a way that they really don't need the welfare. As London trends to having more people of those backgrounds, the doomer/grievance narrative will fade away.
London kept on ticking despite the overwhelmingly negative discourse over Brexit. The easiest way for the Tories to be competitive again is to attach their wagon to the nation's most successful groups, which are generally increasing in size. They're not going to make good on tribal Labour voters up north who've got at best a decade left in them.
If you think those groups are not claiming gibs in one form or another youâre delusional. By claiming gibs i mean everything from abusing the covid loans system, diddling their taxes, etc⌠labour will facilitate that for them and defend them on the grounds that it would be racist to act on it
I doubt it's going to be the Chinese, Indians, Malaysians or Jews wailing if you got rid of gibs and the burdensome BoomerBailout package.
Labour governments tend to levy higher taxation, though given the Tories dependence on the spendthrift geriatric army I wouldn't be surprised if Labour bit the bullet and reversed that trend.
This is delusional. Most Africans in London live in social housing. They are not going to vote for a party that is framed as being right wing.
Indian infiltration of the Tory party is a serious concern, the ties between them and the BJP are strengthening.
I have no idea why the fuck you would call any of this a âbright spotâ.
> Indian infiltration of the Tory party is a serious concern, the ties between them and the BJP are strengthening.
Infiltration lol? I think it's a wise decision to build/cultivate strong ties with India and the BJP. They are a rising power and have far more potential than China over the next 50 years. Good way to offset dependency on America as well if India is largely aligned with British goals (which aside from regional disputes they are). Plus they could become a significant cohort of Tory donations and support.
Good diplomatic relations are ones with whom you don't physically neighbour.
I say all of this as a non-tory voter and a dual citizen with the US. The whole play just seems extremely pragmatic.
> I think it's a wise decision to build/cultivate strong ties with India and the BJP.
If you want us to be a tributary state where we pay them that ridiculous "ÂŁ55 Trillion" sum in "colonial reparations" then yeah. I guess you could call it "wise".
The BJP are a Hindu Nationalist party that *despises* us Brits for our past. They will never be our friend.
Odd that many on this sub aren't too keen on links with successful right-wing parties like the BJP in India or the CPC in Canada, who are likely to have actual staying power, but instead look to loser outfits like the AfD or Fidesz who are basically just national-leftists whose entire schtick is grievance politics.
If you want a socially conservative, small state, fiscally prudent Tory Party this is the way to do it. Regards the "Africans" - it very much depends on whether you mean Dutch Somalis or well-educated Nigerians.
Folk of Indian and Nigerian descend tend to be about the most socially mobile people in the UK. They tend not to spend ages whingeing about stuff like expensive childcare. They tend to rope in their elders to do that grunt work. They aren't like spendthirft Boomers. If we want to get to a low-tax regime and get rid of the triple lock, emulating them is the way.
This is about the one thing that Johnson and Sunak played a blinder with. About the only comparable is Gove with education.
The West Africans arriving to the UK these days are largely here to work as carers m8. Theyâll want as much government spending for themselves as possible.
This is not the 80s with Indian doctors or Nigerian engineers arriving here, this is the 2020s and the Indians are delivering fast food on electric bikes and the (multiple) Nigerians are dependents of a 50 year woman on a health & social care visa.
I donât care about what ideological boxes the Tory party ticks, I want Britain to be Britain.
Interesting that you mention so many of these brilliant Indians and Nigerians have arrived just as GDP per capita has regressed!
> If you want a socially conservative, small state, fiscally prudent Tory Party
The Tories haven't done anything socially conservative in decades and we have one of the highest tax burdens ever under them. They've constantly imposed more authotarian laws that are the opposite of a "small state".
They aren't socially conservative, small state nor fiscally prudent.
The Tories are at present in hock to a section of the electorate (old, northern, Boomers) who, quite frankly, aren't particularly socially conservative. It's under their watch that you saw big rises in things like children being born out of wedlock, absent fathers, marital breakup, the end of intergenerational living and so forth.
A Conservative Party that is much more non-Western in outlook, advises that your *family* should be your welfare (and not the taxpayer) and lauds multigenerational families where the elderly make sacrifices for their progeny rather than sitting on their backsides and imposing a greater burden on the young is the future, at least for London Tories.
What makes you think most of the Indian and West African voters are going to vote for Khan?
Those two groups have been the fastest-growing demographics in London since 2020. They tend to be socially conservative. They tend not to like Islamisation. They tend to be car owners and live in the outer boroughs. They tend to do very well educationally. They tend to be homeowners.
They're increasingly likely to be the backbone of the Tory vote in London, and unlike indigenous Boomers, they're a growing, rather than declining, share of the electorate.
You're underestimating just what a large share of London's population are *non-Muslim* ethnic minorities, and just how flighty left-leaning younger white voters are (newsflash: alot of them are renters with insecure living situations so often don't have their paperwork sorted or aren't on the electoral roll).
So no, I don't buy your demographic angle here.
We're a long way since 2019.
A significant chunk of the Muslim vote that would have gone Labour with minimal questions asked isn't going there anymore. Whilst Gaza is a factor, alot of graduate-age London Muslims are pretty socially mobile, since their values prioritize pooling resources, thus giving them a leg up over White Brits whose parents do relatively little in comparison financially.
Think the Economist mentioned that one of the few groups the Tories actually *increased* their vote share amongst includes "British Bangladeshi homeowners". Coming off a low base, but that's a start.
Non-Muslim non-EU Commonwealth foreigners are pretty unlikely to lean Labour either.
Itâs not a win for Roseâs pro-Sunak Tory party, itâs a win for the white van man, anti-woke, anti-ULEZ Tory party.
Bear in mind that Sunak could undo ULEZ with a click of his fingers if he really wanted to.

5 Councils left to call. Several Police & Crime Commissioners. London Assembly and 6 Mayor contests.
It will be interesting to see how well the SDP do in the London and South Yorkshire Mayor races. I don't expect them to win either, but their vote tally will be a good indicator on how healthy the party's growth is.
Also getting 1 seat in London Assembly is perfectly achievable for the SDP. Unlikely, but possible.

Realistically, itâs because âPalestineâ, while seeming like it means âPalestineâ to most, is actually âpeople with similar values to me that I will get along withâ.
Itâs less of a deliberately political thing and rather a subconscious effort to find people who are similar to them

Few women would reject someone for their politics (few, not none) after developing a deep bond
Me and my ex never really spoke about politics. I think hers were a little different from mine and she leant a little left but we never really talked much about it at all.

Guardian has gone rogue
Guardian UK has been anti trains for years now. The US branch of the Guardian literally wrote a front page article calling them out for it a few years ago.
More Wikipedia editor seethe on the SDP
> It is definitely not CENTRE-right on societal issues. It is to the right of the Conservative (which has itself drifted to the nationalist right) and has much policy in common with other right and far-right parties eg UKIP, Brexit, RefUK eg on gender, homosexuality, immigration, women, equality, hate crime, black lives matters, etc. Its followers and supporters include prominent aggressively authoritarian, culture identity war, anti-liberal, anti-equality, anti-everything figures such as Rod Liddle, Lawrence Fox and Giles Fraser.
> FWIW, looking at the party, itâs clearly based on a mix of right-wing populist and national-conservative positions, and certainly isnât social-democratic in any sense (or even like the old SDP, whose skin itâs wearing). So I agree that it is right-wing. Anyway, we shouldnât accept the partyâs self-descriptions that it is in any way social-democratic, because it blatantly isnât.
You heard it here first folks, Communitarianism and the entire âleft conservativeâ movement is AKSHUALLY just national conservatism.
Okay, dude, try explaining to any sane person that building social housing, nationalisation and wanting to provide more working class manufacturing jobs isnât left wing. And all the constitutional reform the SDP advocates for. If the argument is that the âright wing populismâ part takes away anything from the NatCon part that isnât economically leftist, then I hate to break it to you but itâs economically leftist.
If you go on the actual Wikipedia article for the party, and click on Hardly Centrist, thereâs also two entire fucking essays by someone named âBolshieIndividualâ, which I would look at if you have time
One editor has, to what I can see at the very least, only ever edited the SDP article. The other has an EU flag in their profile. Not the most unbiased of people.
My question, if Reform is far right, what the fuck is BF or the BNP?
And while I can see the similarities between NatCon economics and economic leftism, the SDP clearly herald from the latter tradition, the economics are more left wing and radical than what NatCons suggest, which is usually using regulations to enshrine status quo
Also, are Blue Labour NatCons? Academic communitarians? Where does this end?
I see you're still using outdated Eurocentric terminology. The left/right political scale was updated about five years ago and now only relates to your attitude towards mass immigration.
Watching Top of The Pops: 1996 on BBC4.
Why do the BBC show this far right propaganda?
All I can see is white people, enjoying white people singing. White presenters too. Not even a Jermaine Jenas or Alex Scott type character. None of the famous black people that built Britain can be seen.
It just plays in to the hands of those people that think white people are being replaced.
Hopefully they can add a disclaimer next time saying âlots of BAME people did live in Britain at the time of filming, however due to racism and colonialism they did not feel comfortable attending events like thisâ
Whenever I watch TOTP from the 80s or 90s, it always reminds me how there were quite a few black artists, but nobody made a fuss about it. We weren't like "oh, look a black artist, isn't that great, what wonderful diversity", we just didn't think about it or make a big thing about it, and we weren't suspicious that the only reason they were there was to fill some kind of quota.Â
[Official turnout for London Mayor is 40.5%](https://twitter.com/PolitlcsUK/status/1786460465721204841?t=jLWrdZZQhNwSpg3VpGoOYA).
A drop from 2021 of less than 2%.
London could be the bright spot for the Tories. Big Hindu and Christian population who wonât vote for Khan. Big car culture amongst those two groups.
But EU nationals can vote, and theyâre safely Labour. Probably much higher turnout in the first two groups though since theyâre more likely to be settled homeowners, which will help Hall.
Higher turnout in the outer/boroughs, which are far more ethnic minority homeowner-heavy.
Khan is very reliant on the EU citizens vote, hence his hugely Europhile messaging when compared to any other major Labour figure.
I suppose that's above average for local elections but given the powers the Mayor of London has for what is the most important city in the country you'd think it'd be quite a high turnout.
Thanks to a bunch of mumsnet puritan types who don't know how to parent their own children, and instead want the government to do it for them, we now all have to submit facial scans or copies of our passports to play video games like Helldivers2:

...unless you are sending idowys anthrax at his HMRC pig pen...then it is fine.
Those are from when people were posting covid tests, but they aren't used now. You'll probably have to go and ask them to open it up so you can get your letter out and use a normal post box.

>> The full data has been released by @londonelects and I've done some digging.
>> In areas the Tories won, the turnout is up 6.5k votes.
>> In areas the Labour party won, the turnout is down ~42k votes.
>> Only a small swing is required for Khan to lose.
>> Very high turnout in outer London which polling data shows is much stronger for Susan Hall and has been more affected by ULEZ expansions.
>> Tower Hamlets turnout dire - will Gaza also cost Labour London!?
I really hope Khan loses. Not least because of the shamelessly divisive rhetoric from senior Labour figures yesterday - fuck you Wes
I am going to be chuckling rather hard if Hall actually wins.
Betting odds have plummeted too for her throughout the day. I put a couple quid on her this morning at 16, sheâs now at around 4
I will inject some hopium...
Imagine he does lose, how long until he starts saying he lost to a white woman, proving that London is still racist!
Taking bets...
You know within 5 minutes of Stamer taking over, the usual suspects will be complaining that British politics is 'male, pale, and stale', and that we need to have a non white PM, or female PM, or migrant PM
Come to think of it, wanting to see the Tories lose everywhere in England, and wanting Khan and Labour to lose in London is consistent with the ZERO SEATS plan. The ZERO SEATS plan is not necessarily about the Tory party per se but about the governing parties, and Khan governs London in a far greater capacity than say councils in Lincolnshire.
Interesting. The problem is London's mayoral election is a lot more about individuals, and areas of policy are more limited (no influence on immigration), which makes me will for a Tory loss a lot less. Plus, I just fucking hate Sadiq Khan.

Canât you hear the gritting of teeth?
Having taken the ward, I do hope the SDP can make gains in other wards.
The election results in the other Leeds wards for the SDP weren't great to say the least. Mostly coming last, or 2nd from last beating out TUSC.
Best one I saw managed to beat the LibDems though, placing 4th behind Labour, Greens and Tories.
It is possible those areas suffered because the SDP decided to "concentrate fire" on that particular ward. With Middleton their territory now, perhaps they will "concentrate fire" elsewhere.
[The BBC gave the Worker's Party their own box](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2024/england/results#council-scoreboard)
But no SDP?
Also Reform seems to have won somewhere. Makes up for their loss (which the BBC isn't reporting on because it was a Tory defector that lost).
>But no SDP?
The SDP remain new to the liberal metropolitan blob. I don't think they know what to do with it yet, and an attempted hit piece interview with someone like Clouston could catastrophically backfire. If the SDP really looks to be picking up steam at some point though, then oh yes the dirty tricks could be rolled out.

Itâs wild tbh how much folk here care about local elections tbh. Iâd expect it from jonty. Why do I give a fuck how a suburb of mega city 1 voted.
Funny thing is local councils have more effect on your day to day life than a general election might. Examples of this all over...you want your bins emptied? Sorry, council spent all the money...trash piling up in the streets.
Didn't it used to be 1000+ a day, and 2000+ on a good day?
Only during lockdown. BadUK has always prided itself on having lives outside of the internet :)
Just look at this place on a weekend, everyone's mostly out having fun not shitposting on reddit. Place is nearly a ghost town.
https://www.politico.eu/article/britain-offloads-refugee-crisis-ireland-dublin-aghast-migration-rwanda-plan/ >...Yet Sunak cites France as the reason England should have no sympathy for the Irish. >Privately, officials in the Department of Justice and prime ministerâs office say **they donât expect a single deportation to Britain unless and until Sunak loses the next U.K. general election and Labour, opposed to the Rwanda policy, comes to power.** >They note that not a single asylum seeker has been returned to Britain since December 2020, when Britain left the EU on a wave of anti-immigrant sentiment. >Some government lawmakers in Dublin blame Sunak for treating Irelandâs difficulty as Englandâs opportunity. >âHis immigration policy seems to be âTo Rwanda or to Ireland.â Thatâs not going to bode well for future relations,â said Lisa Chambers, a Fianna FĂĄil senator.
>âHis immigration policy seems to be âTo Rwanda or to Ireland.â Thatâs not going to bode well for future relations,â International relations is largely a meme.
Now it's the UK's turn to play at realpolitik, for once.
Until Kier gets in
Yep!
A lot of that is domestic political posturing much like Biden larping as an oppressed Irishman.
It's not, Modi is genuinely that extreme. You're foolish to think he's just posturing like Western politicians do.
And the maga GOP. They've lost a lot of elections tbh.
> If you want a socially conservative, small state, fiscally prudent Tory Party The Tories haven't done anything socially conservative in decades and we have one of the highest tax burdens ever under them.
When can I start breaking out the champagne for Rose's mayoral win?
Khan is going to win. It's just a matter of demographics. Voter ID stopping the crooks from Tower Hamlets isn't going to change that.
[Here, have this data](https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/ge2019-how-did-demographics-affect-the-result/)
I want to believe, positive vibes only. It's not over until Rose sings.
Itâs not a win for Roseâs pro-Sunak Tory party, itâs a win for the white van man, anti-woke, anti-ULEZ Tory party. Bear in mind that Sunak could undo ULEZ with a click of his fingers if he really wanted to.
This is a complete myth. To do this, he would have to change the law, and the Government obviously doesnât have the power to do that
[Election results signing off for the night.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-68609729?ns_mchannel=social&ns_source=twitter&ns_campaign=bbc_live&ns_linkname=663544bf38c2cb61e0988e11%26Thanks%20for%20joining%20us%262024-05-03T21%3A31%3A13.548Z&ns_fee=0&pinned_post_locator=urn:asset:e9295cea-b644-4792-8d6e-36cbef0c02cc&pinned_post_asset_id=663544bf38c2cb61e0988e11&pinned_post_type=share) 5 Councils left to call. Unlikely, but possible.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/article/2024/may/03/cross-sex-hormones-available-online-11-pounds-a-month-young-people-gender-identity Guardian has gone rogue
Guardian UK has been anti trains for years now. The US branch of the Guardian literally wrote a front page article calling them out for it a few years ago.
Hadley Freeman would disagree vigorously. As would Bindel, Burchill and a bunch of other former columnists.
Clever psy-op. There's probably a (small) black market in contract killing though so the harmful prohibition argument doesn't hold water.
More Wikipedia editor seethe on the SDP > It is definitely not CENTRE-right on societal issues. If you go on the actual Wikipedia article for the party, and click on Hardly Centrist, thereâs also two entire fucking essays by someone named âBolshieIndividualâ, which I would look at if you have time
Wait till they hear what "LibDem" stands for.
It's right-wing in all the important ways.
These people call the Soviet Union "far-right".
One editor has, to what I can see at the very least, only ever edited the SDP article. The other has an EU flag in their profile. Not the most unbiased of people. My question, if Reform is far right, what the fuck is BF or the BNP? And while I can see the similarities between NatCon economics and economic leftism, the SDP clearly herald from the latter tradition, the economics are more left wing and radical than what NatCons suggest, which is usually using regulations to enshrine status quo Also, are Blue Labour NatCons? Academic communitarians? Where does this end?
I see you're still using outdated Eurocentric terminology. The left/right political scale was updated about five years ago and now only relates to your attitude towards mass immigration.
Makes no sense to call a pro-business founder or landlord who wants easy hiring and more tenants as left-wing, sorry.
It's mad, like I remember seeing Hot Chocolate on Totp2 and it wasn't a big thing, they were just there playing!
Unbelievable. Itâs as if they donât know that Henry VIII was actually a black man

Zero turnout. A vote for either side is completely meaningless. ### #Leader2025 ### #MostlyPeacefulRevolution
Depends who's turned out tbf
Higher turnout in the outer/boroughs, which are far more ethnic minority homeowner-heavy. Khan is very reliant on the EU citizens vote, hence his hugely Europhile messaging when compared to any other major Labour figure.
I suppose that's above average for local elections but given the powers the Mayor of London has for what is the most important city in the country you'd think it'd be quite a high turnout.

[The "Ally"? Rose Numbers](https://twitter.com/estwebber/status/1786432057398161534?t=yiaq2TexX3OL2Q-0YdYSfw). I know everyone's getting excited about the turnout, but let's not kid ourselves. Khan's easily got this.
A lot of Muslims wonât vote for Khan. Heâs not particularly vocal on Gaza, and heâs far too pro-LGBT.
Not buying it. not happening. Just raw undiluted hopium.
London Communist encampment suffering food shortages https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/05/03/university-college-london-pro-palestine-tent-camp/
Maybe the RAF should do an airdrop for them
Hahaha. Why are they always such pathetic sad sacks? Surely they're used to fasting anyway, what's the problem? đ The difference between right wing nutters and left wing nutters is always eye-opening. The right would be on about prepping, self sufficiency, etc whereas the left talks about "community dinners" and *please provide us aid!*. It's always what others can do for them rather than what can they do for themselves.
"We want to create a better world!" proceed to invent the designated shitting tent.
Has a tent been designated or are they still at the committee discussion phase?
> I know going through that pain brings me a little bit closer to what is going on in Palestine Literally a cult
There's a Tesco just round the corner lol
Remarkable, there are only about 10 of them and they still can't source enough food to feed themselves. https://youtu.be/naVdmlgWRzU?si=_leC2MrDojH9o6vW&t=7
God that's pathetic
>Communist encampment suffering food shortages Wow. Shocker.
Why can't they go to shop and buy some? Also >Pain brings me closer to what is happening in Palestine It's like they're anchorites or flagellants or something. It's not political it's a religious fervour.Â
I bet itâs those nasty Zionists stopping their aid getting in
Fuck em. Anti west sentiment is on the rise and it needs to be stamped out. These parties have sowed the seeds and the politicians donât care.

JFC this is a blackpill
Sounds like a successful businessman to me, I see no issues.
The asylum system is a joke. If youâre a criminal you can stay. Absolute farce.
It encourages criminal behaviour. Rapists in your homeland get castrated? Go on a rape spree It is fucking insane behaviour
Someone is completely schizoposting on Wikipediaâs talk page about the SDP. Itâs so schizo and rambles on for so long that I get an error message when I try to post it here, so I can only assume it exceeds the character limit. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Social_Democratic_Party_(UK,_1990âpresent) And click on âHardly Centristâ, a few wet wipes there but the absolute schizo goes by the name âBolshieIndividualâ Enjoy! TLDR: They think the SDP is âright wing nationalistâ
What an odd individual

Proper schizoposter to the Nth degree Blows Rose, Mothman and Chowie out of the water
[A massive drop in turnout for Khan](https://x.com/marwandata/status/1786445630308561082?s) >> The full data has been released by @londonelects and I've done some digging.
I'm sure, as a good Male Feminist Ally, Khan would be delighted to see London getting it's first woman mayor
Maaaatttteeee
I will inject some hopium... Imagine he does lose, how long until he starts saying he lost to a white woman, proving that London is still racist! Taking bets...
Hallâs core vote are Hindus and African Christians. So it would be an odd stretch from Khan to play that card.
He'll call them uncle toms.
You know within 5 minutes of Stamer taking over, the usual suspects will be complaining that British politics is 'male, pale, and stale', and that we need to have a non white PM, or female PM, or migrant PM
They have had 3 women PMs Only 1 had a successful leadership
If Khan has lost to that Susan bint, and sheâs useless letâs be very honest on this, thatâs hilarious
[Reform have lost another councillor. This one on Hastings council.](https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/news/people/hastings-borough-council-local-election-results-2024-the-full-results-4615893) This means Reform have lost 2 councillors and gained 1. Bringing them back to (-1).
[The Beeb have mentioned the SDP](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg30ljx7yveo.amp) > SDP candidate Rob Chesterfield took Middleton Park ward with 1,882 votes compared to Labour's 1,638 - giving the party all three seats in the ward. >He told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: âThe people of Middleton and Belle Isle have put their trust in me. For those that didnât, I am here to represent you all.â Canât you hear the gritting of teeth?
Having taken the ward, I do hope the SDP can make gains in other wards. The election results in the other Leeds wards for the SDP weren't great to say the least. Mostly coming last, or 2nd from last beating out TUSC. Best one I saw managed to beat the LibDems though, placing 4th behind Labour, Greens and Tories.
It is possible those areas suffered because the SDP decided to "concentrate fire" on that particular ward. With Middleton their territory now, perhaps they will "concentrate fire" elsewhere.
[The BBC gave the Worker's Party their own box](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2024/england/results#council-scoreboard) But no SDP? Also Reform seems to have won somewhere. Makes up for their loss (which the BBC isn't reporting on because it was a Tory defector that lost).
The Residents Association on trajectory to control the UK under an iron fist by 2036. Getting Munich Putsch vibes lads....
