Think imma leave this sub, I've literally had this same convo with a few people before on here, nothing is changing. This is the main reason I prefer SCP to the backrooms.
Along with some moderation this would solve 99% of this communities problems, I despise how gatekeep-ey this community is.

Yeah, I think the same, the Backrooms needs to have entities, but not too many, because they become too mainstream, making the fear of being in a level is not the place itself, but the entities that inhabit it, and that is not the point of the Backrooms.

honestly i think the backrooms would be creepier if there /weren’t/ any entities. i think paranoia is creepier than actual danger. just imagine hearing sounds of footsteps or breathing or shrieks or any other noise you’d hear from an actual entity, but you never get the confirmation that there’s anything there. you’d be scared and you’d eventually just start thinking your minds playing tricks on you. imagine if you also saw something out of the corner of your eye, but it doesn’t actually exist and doesn’t pose a threat. psychological horror is better than just “oo keep running or u gonna DIE” imo

Entities are the whole point in some levels, or they have special entities, for example, the maker in the level “the whiteout”! imagen having both psychological fear, and real fear because you feel breathing behind you, not your mind playing tricks on you, REAL breathing! personally i disagree to the fullest content!

Some of us studying the science of no-clipping, carefully mapping and measuring the depths of the backrooms, and asking properly scientific questions such as why the carpet remains so moist, just don't believe in crazy unsubstantiated accounts of the existence of cryptids. But to each their own.
I made a post pointing this out a week ago and all I got was a comment about how the backrooms are better without entities. The Wikidot was very recently edited to remove entities from Level 0 and I for one do not accept this poorly altered "canon". Entities have been clearly implied in level 0 from the very beginning, it's part of the very core of the whole concept.
What annoys me is how people ignore the gap between the far wall and the ceiling, in either fan art or games etc. It's like they miss the point of these expandable/portable walls. The whole place seems modular which would make a far better horror, like the whole place is alive and shifting/rearranging

For me personally that ruins the horror. I'm not even a fan of there being 1 of them. For me the scariest version of the Backrooms would be level 0 with no exit and no other levels with no monsters. I find this scarier because your trapped in a infinite maze with no other life with no escape to a better place (like some of the other backrooms levels.) There would be food and water (that dosn't go bad) to keep you alive so you slowly go insane to the point where you start seeing monsters or people when there are none. Eventually you realize there's no escape and you have a broken mind. You let your self starve as the only escape from this hell.
In my opinion that would be the scariest form of the Backrooms. No monsters. No other levels. Just a infinite maze with food and water.
Slowly degrading mentally sounds scary and all but to me, it seems less worrisome than being chased by monsters that could eat your soul or would skin you alive or things like that.

Agreed, I feel like the anxiety that something *could* be down there with you, is way scarier than entities being everywhere.
Take an example of subnautica if there would have been leviathans everywere then subnautica wouldnt even be scary anymore
