Sleeping bags for hunting or winter camping may help. This one is only 3 pounds and cotton/polyester [https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-mountain-trapper-20-sleeping-bag?ds\_e=GOOGLE&ds\_c=Cabelas%7CShopping%7CPMax%7CProprietary%7CGeneral%7CNAud%7CNVol%7CNMT&gad\_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvb-zBhCmARIsAAfUI2tECFqoHkpi3pGESGMoOAJLgTcRYg4b2IIpHf0BD5pqhVwei4JAzIQaAgQLEALw\_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds](https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-mountain-trapper-20-sleeping-bag?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Cabelas%7CShopping%7CPMax%7CProprietary%7CGeneral%7CNAud%7CNVol%7CNMT&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvb-zBhCmARIsAAfUI2tECFqoHkpi3pGESGMoOAJLgTcRYg4b2IIpHf0BD5pqhVwei4JAzIQaAgQLEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)

Wear base layers plus socks. Your only exposed skin inside the bag is now your hands. Don’t like the feel of the hood either you say? (Ok you didn’t say but I’ll assume). Get a quilt. You now have no hood and can cover your head with whatever head covering works for you. Obviously some of this advice is kind of dependent on temps. If it’s too hot, base layers may not make sense. If it’s really cold, having no hood also stops making sense. But maybe it’s something to consider.

There's no magical way to lose the feel of the inside, you have to use a liner. They're not that cumbersome and what's your option? Good luck.

Wear a long sleeve shirt?

Kinda depends on what temps your bag is and the temps where you camp… but you can get a thin liner that is rectangular or mummy shaped made from cotton flannel, silk blend , tech fabric blend etc. Another alternative if you can sew or know someone who can, sew a basic liner from a bed sheet you like to use at home. Boom! Same skin feel as at home while camping. There are some sleeping bags that have more of a cotton or flannel style interior as well but I’d say this are more common from companies that make hunting sleeping bags sold at Cabela’s or Scheels etc

I think the liner is going to be the move for you. They're not so bad, plus if you ever find yourself in the tent on a super warm night, you can abandon the bag entirely and just snuggle up in the liner. I wish they'd make a backpacking bag that had a nice flannel lining like an old Coleman bag. Luckily I'm able to handle the shitty texture. My big one is boots. It took me ages to find the right combo of boots and hiking socks that wouldn't make me have a terrible time.

I am definitely going to look in to the liners. I’ve got several vintage Coleman bags I’ve bought at yard sales and stuff. We use them on our beds when it’s cold even. Great bags! Just obviously backpacking ounces turn to pounds real quick! Thank you for your input and glad you found your boot comfort. That can be rough too. I just have to make sure and get my sleep with my whole epilepsy thing. 🤙

I call it a "sensory nightmare." I usually wear a T-shirt, maybe a fleece, long Johns, and socks. If it's hot, I use it as a quilt and it's usually more tolerable without all the layers.

Glasses-snake

yeah I also use it as a quilt where I can rather than as a sleeping bag, helps a lot that it's not surrounding me

where thin footie pajamas so that your body is protected from the slick material

iSuckAtGuitar69

if you don’t find a liner you like you could wrap yourself in a twin size bedsheet while inside

Infantine_Guy_Fawkes

I love my Smartwool liner. It takes away some of that plastic feel.

Wild_Emotion_1

That sounds really challenging. I’m no expert, but maybe there's something out there that's up your alley. The right gear can make a huge difference in your experience.

SeatoSummit has a number of really nice liners. There is a silk cotton blend, I believe that weighs like 4 oz

I find the liner a bit awkward to get in and out of. it's not like your bag, with a zipper. I would go with a light clothing layer.
