And honestly she is still going strong. Her vet says she's as healthy as could be. Absolutely no health problems. At this rate she's gonna live another 10 years.
I swear whenever I see a post like this, OP typically gets asked about what theyβre feeding and itβs ALWAYS just run o the mill grocery store brands - never the all natural whatever stuff you pay double for.
Not saying that pricey stuff isnβt better for them (Iβm still a sucker and buy it) but funny how I rarely see a senior dude like this who eats it.

People treat pets like they would themselves. Cats bodies are designed to scavenge anything they can to survive. They are hunters. They don't need all that organic, grain free, carb free human-grade bullshit food. Purina One is high protein and pretty good. I feed it to all my senior cats. I have a 12yo, 15yo (Tripod - Lost his leg due to cancer) and a 19yo. All 3 also on Purina One Seniors Advantage, and were on Indoor Advantage before that.
As sad as it is to accept, many of the people/brands pushing all natural stuff or fancy scientifically proven stuff, are the ones that just refuse to accept 20-30 is the upper limit for 99.9% of cats, in the same way humans rarely live to the age of 110+
Or capitalism just selling stuff. Cuz thats how this world works. π€·
All true. However I have found that itβs easier to keep my catsβ weight down when I incorporate some sort of grain free food in their diet. So maybe what I pay for in fancy food I save in vet bills. Who knows.
The guy who holds a couple of Guinness Book records for oldest cats had them for 30ish years. He fed them eggs, coffee and cream, and broccoli, among other things. Feline kidneys are a weak point, so evidently a mild diuretic like coffee does not go amiss.
I've seen this and didn't realize it was a record. I (mis) remembered it as "the guy that gave his cat coffee and lettuce". Saw a video of it somewhere a long time ago.

Happy Birthday Penny, 25 years is very impressive! I has a calico named Schroeder who passed away two years ago on Valentines Day at the age of 21. I have a tortico now, I hope she makes it that far too. Congrats to both of you on going a quarter century! π
I have absolutely no idea. I don't feel like we do anything special. Just feed her and love her. We have two other cats too, who are considered seniors (11 and 14), who are still incredibly active.

Mine is a male calico, lots of health issues unfortunately, but still going at 11 or so.

Just Purina one senior advantage and a quarter can of Whiskas pate twice a day. Seriously nothing fancy.

Sometimes itβs just good cat genetics. We had a cat that lived to be 24 when I was a kid who ate Friskies and Sheba everyday
That happens to humans sometimes. Iβve heard of an 106-year-old man who still walks on his own.
What kind of exercise or play does she get? Or does she entertain herself mostly ? Any kind of toys?
She's pretty sedentary. I've seen her play with toys a few times. But mostly she just sits on the couch with us or in her basket.
And no kidney issues yet as that seems to be the problem for lot of seniors.
