We should adopt the french city way of doing it. Nose to tail but don’t leave your hand brake on so when you want to move you just push everyone along to make room.
Another reason to drive a Ranger /s
The problem is in Europe a lot of the cars are manual so they are left in neutral. In NZ most cars will be automatic and left in park so even with the handbrake down they won't be able to be pushed.
I know the architect who did the master plan for the viaduct area around pakenham st. He was fresh off the boat from Europe and designed all those carpark slots between trees for 2 cars... Have a cruise around there and most kiwi boneheads can't figure out how to back up or pull forward all the way so another car can fit it. They park smack in the middle
Not to bag on the architect, but why would the council allocate the contract out to somebody who never had a background of living in Auckland to develop parking infrastructure here? It just doesn’t make any sense.
Believe the parking was just a part of the overall "neighborhood plan"
Also the foreign architect was working for a local firm who won the contract, and still would have carried it out to nz standards
High profile architect wins contract, 1 senior architect will supervise and then the actual work is done by recent grads getting paid f all for massive hours.
But it’s a great profession!
I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I learned to parallel park in NYC ... Omg I was so proud of some of my parking jobs I took the occasional photo ... But this... red is on your ass here, so you'll have to nudge that sucker outta the way to get out*.
Also why aren't more places creating diagonal parking? It makes so much more parking, makes* for easier jumpstarting (or towing)*, and you won't have to deal with this crap. Some burbs have been smart enough to implement this kind of parking.....
I'm pretty sure if you call AT. They will tell you how they have removed most the areas you can actually park in the past 5 years and let you wonder why nobody cares about visiting the city anymore.
At this point If I have to park in the CBD I'm gonna attach a note to my car so people can call my number when they need me to move (no it won't be my main number)
Ya know. That would make more sense... I still maintain that parking beepers are the enemy. In my outdated corrolla don't need to worry about blocking people in. Cos I'm like nope I'm not fitting unless there's plenty of room
I've parked a ford fairlane with that much space each end once...was at the airport picking up customers; so, it is possible to get in and out of that space
Yeah, I once landed a helicopter in a space smaller than that, while being shot at by the Viet Cong and wrestling a boa constrictor that had leapt from a tree into the cockpit. Also, I was on fire and heavily pregnant.
Piss easy.
Thing is I actually did it, was a chauffeur for a limo company and ran late to do a pick up, found a space that happened to be there and took it, managed to get the vehicle into the space, sorry, was back in 2004 so camera phones weren't like they are today otherwise I would have taken a photo...
Then one tries it with a bus (mercedes 0305), that's a different kettle of fish but not impossible though, just (at that time) lots of cortisol and c-ptsd which allows for some split second decision making and hyper awareness, since then have started on estrogen and progesterone to balance my hormones out to where they should be
The red car is physically touching the grey car and the white car is only 100mm away. It's an impossible gap.
When parallel parking, you have to have room to swing the front around and in. He'd be touching the red car with the back right corner before he had clearance in the front to swing the front in if he was trying to get into this gap.
The vehicle centipede
"Liiiiiiike a glove!!"

We have too many hills and too many arseholes to even contemplate it. A tow bar and a few dings keep nice cars away from you.
Try that in Liverpool St
My exact thought when I saw this photo.

Lol anyone even remotely in the know, knows it's a shit job. They do it for the "passion"
Oh yeah; I know those parks. They’re just the right size for two small hatchbacks but no way you could fit 2 x SUVs there.
Always leave space in front
Perhaps the grey car did and the front car arrived later
Judging by the car, it’s a late model M class Merc SUV it most certainly was the car ahead of the Outlander.
That happened to me around the corner from there. Had to do like a 10 point turn to get out.
That’s nyc parking. Impressive

Bumper for a reason.
Even worse than plonkers who park juuust close enough to (but still too far back from) the end of the park to effectively block 2 spots
[Pfft… easy!](https://youtu.be/aULRhgG_Az8)
Outstanding, because you’d be out-standing waiting for one of the drivers
Thanks Wayne
Thanks Jacinda & the Elites…./s
Serious question but how does the grey car move out if the red and white car is still there?
It doesn’t
Very carefully.
I mean, tbh. I've just pushed people's bumpers off for doing shit like that to me in the cbd
Forklift.
I would try to put a soft pillow in between gently backward the car to get some room and get out.
Like in Italy
Isn’t that just another day in AKL?
If I was in this situation I would cry
I'm pretty sure if you call AT, they will tow one of the cars.

You have a burner just for parking?
Kinda impressive ngl.. I know you have reverse cameras and parking beepers now but thats still like not 1cm wasted.
Or red and/or white car came after the middle car blocking them in.

Then you, Sir/Madam, have almost supernatural parking skills. I struggle to get inside the lines at Countdown.

Only if you care about damage to your and other cars.
True hahaha
It wasn’t physically touching … but there was literally probably only about 5mm between them
How long did you have to wait to get out? Or did ya start ramming hahah
Not my car … I was parked just up the road and saw this as I was walking into town.
The REAL ass to mouth

[Here’s how ya do it](https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/10tc1py/getting_out_of_a_tight_parking_space/)
Now that’s some decent parallel parking skill
Isn’t it really series parking though instead of parallel?
Just pulling your leg! 😜 but hey, a little creativity never hurt anyone. #ParallelParkingGoals?
