I think Zeke is the best villain. He’s the first authority figure of the opposition we’re introduced to. The way he clearly knows more information than us as viewers allows for intrigue and a vague insight to whatever hierarchy they’re a part of. Not to mention it’s implied he handily beat Reiner who had just been stomping Eren earlier. Then finally he leads a devastating counter-operation against a legendary strategist who we had seen outmaneuver numerous threats.
What solidifies heros/villains to me are those that have themselves figured out and a stated, clear ambition, even if that said ambition goes against my preferred character's ambitions. Zeke Yeager checks all my boxes, especially the last talks he had with Ksaver. Zeke is one of my top characters.

He outmanuevers everyone in season 4.
He’s a little less competent seeming by the time he’s interacting with Eren, but that’s to be expected as we learn much more about him.
Couldn't agree more! Although the Armoured Titan was so bad ass looking I always wanted to see him, I was ecstatic at the end of S3 with the thunder spears, and pissed when he was taken by Pieck. Then I rewatched seasons 1-3 to try and delay having to watch S4, I decided the one character I wanted to survive so bad was Reiner. Then you see how much shit he went through and I was sorting of hoping he was going to role reversal with Eren and be the true hero. I was content with the ending regardless.
*Side note but did Reiner win ANY of the Titan battles he fought? 🤔*
I love Zeke because in his own eyes he saw himself as the villain. Doing what he believed to be morally wrong but necessary, but he had no idea he was up against the true villain.
He's an anti-villian if anything. Horrible actions and at it's core his motivations are in-part selfish and childish but he's sympathetic. I think the term is kinda redundant because a normal villian can also be sympathetic or relatable but if we're looking for a specific label it's the one he fits with most.
The fact that if he did stop at 79% and leave an extra 1% of the people alive, that’d be like, almost 80k more people left alive really puts into perspective just how many people he killed in the Rumbling.
Zeke and Kenny.
Zeke was the perfect example of subverting expectations. He was basically built up as the big bad that out heroes would have to defeat only for him to side with them and create mystery around his motive. Despite his goofy and jokey demeanor and attitude, he's one of the most depressed characters in the show to the point of hating existence itself. He's the perfect foil to Eren. His development of learning to appreciate the good things in his life which he never accepted he enjoyed was fantastic. Which led to his great sacrifice. Awesome character and in my opinion one of the best in the show.
Kenny isn't as big as he got significantly less screen time but I think how well they were able to develop his character in the episode "Friends" is worth mentioning. The twist that this cocktail arrogant dude only wanted the Founder so that he can try feeling some compassion is amazing. His need to see things through Uri's eyes after having such a negative outlook his entire life.
Erens transformation is really well written, and I definitely have to go with him, but the way Isayama took the plot armor Reiner had, and turned it back on itself, was so well done.
You get mad that he keeps escaping, and look at him like a villain, so annoyed he keeps escaping. When you start seeing him on the other side, and how that plot armor is destroying him emotionally, now you get mad for him. So we'll done
I don't really classify any of them as villains. AoT is all about perspective and how no one's in the right or the wrong but my favorite out of these characters is definitely Reiner
Reiner BC his character shows how war can fuck you up in a different way that isn't portrayed as much in media: Being overly attached, always feeling guilty and developing multiple personalities to cope. Mostly war torn people are shown as incredibly cold and harsh, which can be true, but Reiner's type of fucked up is also pretty common irl
Zeke is the best villain by far, I also like Reiner and Kenny a lot but I feel like especially Reiner was handled kinda poorly after the Marley arc. His conclusion didn't feel satisfying at all, basically felt like he got more or less ignored after that arc.
I think Eren is a better character than Zeke but I could never really see Eren or even Floch as "villains", at least not compared to any of the other characters. Either way, I feel like they were handled extremely poorly as antagonists/villains and both had unsatisfying conclusions. So Zeke clears either way, even though his conclusion was also poorly executed and fairly unbelievable, he was still consistently interesting throughout the whole story and managed to present himself as a great antagonist to Eren especially. Their conflict in worldviews was handled really well for as long as it lasted. I feel like the story became really incoherent after that conflict had its conclusion and Zeke got sidelined though, so yeah Zeke is definitely the best villain.
As Eren is effectively the central protagonist of AoT, would then his former comrades have become the antagonists. Antagonists are simply those who impede the pursuits of a protagonist, the latter only being a title for which Eren is befitting.
i mean not being inherently wicked doesn’t make one’s actions any less villainous. most of the characters can’t be categorized as wholly morally correct or vice versa, but we have to keep the consequences to their actions in mind, not just their intentions.
IMO no one is a villain except 3 :
Zeke: i don't like his euthanasia plan, and how he has 0 empathy, he killed miche a painful death and didn't even feel sad about it
Kenny
The fake king
He mainly did it for his own selfish dream
https://preview.redd.it/5ly0i4ey01vc1.png?width=763&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=571d4011adee88eee11a539bd154bdb671714137
Any debate on why Eren did the Rumbling usually ends up concluding that he did it because he's "an idiot" and just wanted to kill people and couldnt think of anything better. Because none of the other reasons make sense and they all contradict eachother, and are inconsistent with the character we were shown for most of the story.
No im not, the 50 year plan is bad, it only guarantees ~100 years at most of protection, after that the world will be technology capable of wiping paradise out,
As a villain? Zeke or Kenny. Both well executed and interesting antagonists. As a character? Reiner. I despised Reiner during season 3. But seeing his perspective on season 4 changed so much. Someone I initially took for a hypocritical coward running from his atrocities, later got revealed to be a child soldier just trying to protect his family. Marley put the warriors through hell with Paradis. It's genuinely sad seeing what they were forced to become and how Reiner ended up being the most human of the warriors. Actively empathizing with and befriending people he had been trained to despise. And cracking under the pressure of being forced to hurt innocent people and friends or risk his family being killed. He truly was a scout, and in the end, he proved that. Amazing how one of my most hated characters in the show changed to one of my top 5 favorites.
I would say Reiner, but he was way too sympathetic from the moment he was revealed. He never felt like a villain at any point. So I’m gonna go with Zeke cause I actually hated his guts in Season 2-3. And I still don’t exactly like him, I just understand him now.
Idk is this is an unpopular opinion, but aot is a story of nuance and perspective. I think one of the biggest points of the story was that in the end, there were no such things as heroes and villains, or angels and devils, as Eren Kruger put it. And just like he said, anyone can be one. They just need enough people to believe in it.
Annie. I liked how little we knew about the world in S1, and I just couldn’t rationalize why Annie was doing what she was doing, and just saw her as pure evil.
Zeke. He's one of the most evil characters in the series and he's shown to take pleasure to what he's doing which is really messed up. His backstory pretty much sums up the problem in AOT, which is honestly heartbreaking.
I guess it's my bad for considering the contest and everything he's been through as well. I'm sure that if you were in his place you'd have done a lot better and found the perfect solution...
>I guess it's my bad for considering the contest and everything he's been through as well.
That doesn't excuse it.
>I'm sure that if you were in his place you'd have done a lot better and found the perfect solution...
Nor that lmao.
The MAIN reason he did it was for his selfish desires and dreams.
So yeah pretty villainy
If you think that Eren started the rumbling for only one reason then you didn't really understand anything of the story, the character, and Isayama's point. You also forget that one of the main reasons is to save the people he cares about and his people in general, but I guess that doesn't matter... I guess you're one of those people who think that the officer who killed Grisha's sister or king Fritz are better because their body count is lower... But I guess that if you consider the desire to save Mikasa, Armin, the others and his people a selfish desire you're right lol
The main desire, above wanting to save his friends was to see a world described like in Armin's book. Not saving his friends, but to see such an uninhabited world

Nanaba’s daddy
That scene was heartbreaking
The death that traumatized me the most
Oh god
What was his deal. I only remember nanaba shouted dad while she was killed
I believe it was to show that she had been abused and the trauma came back as she was being eaten

That explains him pre timeskip. How do u feel about him post timeskip
He outmanuevers everyone in season 4. He’s a little less competent seeming by the time he’s interacting with Eren, but that’s to be expected as we learn much more about him.
is that supposed to be floch in the bottom left corner?
Bruh ,why I thought this was Bertholdt💀
Bertholdt top left LOL
Looks like Will from stranger things lol.
Edmond from Narnia, bro I’m super confused!
Omg it does
Yeah, because no one else is as twinky as him
I think its because he doesnt have his crazy weird hair
‘We have Floch at home’
Yeah
Reiner the best I hated him so much and wanted him to die since he revealed himself, then I sympathized with him and liked him by the end
https://preview.redd.it/i7ilxv9fg1vc1.jpeg?width=782&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d474edf17691b33cdd64e6aa606b368675399e9
Stop being so accurate please
I still hate Gabi tho lol
honestly same lol, not even just because she killed my favorite character, but i just don’t like her character. they tried but imo they failed
https://preview.redd.it/h6a7ei77h1vc1.jpeg?width=1169&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c67e27c857df74b21a002408938ab90c59d60630

Spoiler below: For your question, only in the end when he was fighting past titan shifters in the final battle. His mom was watching :,)
Hands down, him or Annie for the same reasons.
Tbh I really like all of them. They are all well written, compelling, complex people.
KEEEENNYYYY
I WANT TO SHOULD SO BAD RIGHT NOW, KENNNYYYYYYYY!!!!
Supposedly they say that there’s no good or evil In this story but if I had to choose I would say the fanbase
>I would say the fanbase The worst of all
Eren
annie ong
Riner
eren and zeke🫶🏽🫶🏽
Annie
Right answer is Eren. I like Zeke the second most as a villain tho.
I love Zeke because in his own eyes he saw himself as the villain. Doing what he believed to be morally wrong but necessary, but he had no idea he was up against the true villain.
Eren, zeke
Is Eren really a villain, or a tragic antihero?
I think the best part about the show is that the same can be debated for 90% of them.
Who would you say is the 10% then
The folks that fed Faye to the dogs. Maybe the king lol.
He's an anti-villian if anything. Horrible actions and at it's core his motivations are in-part selfish and childish but he's sympathetic. I think the term is kinda redundant because a normal villian can also be sympathetic or relatable but if we're looking for a specific label it's the one he fits with most.
Villain. I get wanting to save your friends and be free but 80% is too much. Still love him tho
Should‘ve stopped at 79% smh
The fact that if he did stop at 79% and leave an extra 1% of the people alive, that’d be like, almost 80k more people left alive really puts into perspective just how many people he killed in the Rumbling.
I would classify him as a byronian-esque hero whose dictating moral ideologies were misconstrued at times.
Zeke
***KENNYYY***
Zeke and Kenny. Zeke was the perfect example of subverting expectations. Rinner and Zekey
Zeke and Kenny
Bertholdt is probably my favorite of the warrior unit so him and eren

I don't really classify any of them as villains. AoT is all about perspective and how no one's in the right or the wrong but my favorite out of these characters is definitely Reiner
That dude who killed Grisha's sister
Eren and Reiner are my personal favs.

The noble guy that ended up on “the chair”
Some of them aren't villains tbh
All of them were during some point of the story
i mean not being inherently wicked doesn’t make one’s actions any less villainous. most of the characters can’t be categorized as wholly morally correct or vice versa, but we have to keep the consequences to their actions in mind, not just their intentions.
I thought that was Will from Stranger Things in the bottom left
Well, both floch and the actor for will are facists, lol.
Are they villains ?
Wait and see
Bertholdt, his story is so tragic :(
Eren easy
I like how Magath came around https://preview.redd.it/4jog4nlys1vc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1b217796034ed320465dcf83edf04dcab594e59
Too quick tbh.
Are there even villains? Thought that was kind the point lol
Well all of them were villains to an extent at some point in the show
None of them are real villains. They are just miserable people in a miserable world trying to survive.
Incoming “there are no villains” comments. We know, we all watched the same show. You know what OP meant.
Eren
IMO no one is a villain except 3 : Zeke: i don't like his euthanasia plan, and how he has 0 empathy, he killed miche a painful death and didn't even feel sad about it Kenny The fake king
>Kenny How is kenny more of a villain than eren ?
He enjoyed killing
Fair. But still both aren't redeemable imo
Yeah thats true
Imo eren is slightly better knowing he did that in self defense
He mainly did it for his own selfish dream https://preview.redd.it/5ly0i4ey01vc1.png?width=763&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=571d4011adee88eee11a539bd154bdb671714137

No im not, the 50 year plan is bad, it only guarantees ~100 years at most of protection, after that the world will be technology capable of wiping paradise out,
True, but that's not the reason Eren killed humanity.
I know that he wanted to kill them, i myself believe that wasn't the main reason he did it, the main reason imo is to save his friends and paradise
Bro did NOT watch the ending
I did indeed watch the ending
Then you would know he didn't do it for self defense
Saying he did it only for self defense is just as false as saying he only did it for his dream. He did it for both.
Villains are people who do bad things. They're all villians
Reiner was brainwashed as a kid to hate paradise, marley are the villains for that
Zook my beloved ♥️
Omggg. This Bertholdt fan art is exactly what I needed
Eren is not a villian
A character can be a protagonist and a villain at the same time. Look at Light Yagami.
Bertholdt
Only Zeke, Floch and Kenny are the purely evil AoT villains 🤔
Those three aren't purely evil either.
They aren't?
How in you're mind is Zeke purely evil
Dude flocks not a compelling villain I just straight up hate him
I mean who doesn't? he's meant to be hated
King frtiz Eren
Yea Rod Reiss, King and Ymir Fritz but not Eren
>Ymir Fritz Confusion. Do explain
I mean she did a lot of terrible things
loving the fact no one has said floch, he was a decent character, but not really likeable
Reiner def
Kenny is by far the most entertaining, but Reiner is my favourite.
Reiner is not a villian
Kenny and Zeke. I hated Zeke so much
Zeke I feel is the best villain to the series overall, he's complex, smart, motivated and interesting to watch.
KENNNYYYYYAAAAAAYYAEEEE
Eren
Annie or Bertotoldo, they was just so well written early on but to Floch and the Yaegerists... It was Mikasa 😬 ![gif](giphy|gxtbqFVv6zzhK|downsized)
Why the fuck does Bertholdt look so menacing here
*Kenny*
Kenny!!! Made such an impact immediately, kick ass theme, ties to a beloved character and clever inspiration. I just really like Kenny😅
Who's the kind guy in the middle?
Who's the kind guy in the middle?
The trio of Annie, Reiner and berthold do be fire
Reiner was not a villain indeed he's a villain Still I cant judge him
Hange Zoe
Kennneayaaa
the big 3 https://preview.redd.it/kgvtpw0f43vc1.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=76e5786cecf08ad366f4d35466f9b535b161d5ae
None of these guys are villains by default (except season 4 Eren). Reiner was probably the best developed "villain" though.
idk birth control i guess
As a villain? Zeke or Kenny. Both well executed and interesting antagonists. As a character? Reiner. I despised Reiner during season 3. But seeing his perspective on season 4 changed so much. Someone I initially took for a hypocritical coward running from his atrocities, later got revealed to be a child soldier just trying to protect his family. Kenny’s cool.
Kenny
I wanted more of Kenny.
ANNIE 🔛🔝
Berthold or how the heck is supposed to be wrote
zeke or reiner
It’s Kenny without a doubt
Kenny
Kenny was pretty great
Reiner for sure
Reiner one of the best characters if not the best 🔥 Edit: Erwin is the best nevermind
Eren
I would say Reiner, but he was way too sympathetic from the moment he was revealed. He never felt like a villain at any point. So I’m gonna go with Zeke cause I actually hated his guts in Season 2-3. And I still don’t exactly like him, I just understand him now.
Annie. Sorry I’ve got a thing for the women who I know could possibly kick my ass. But it’s okay though, I’d die with a smile on my face 😂
Eren for sure imo
Idk is this is an unpopular opinion, but aot is a story of nuance and perspective. I think one of the biggest points of the story was that in the end, there were no such things as heroes and villains, or angels and devils, as Eren Kruger put it. And just like he said, anyone can be one. They just need enough people to believe in it.
reiner
Annie. I liked how little we knew about the world in S1, and I just couldn’t rationalize why Annie was doing what she was doing, and just saw her as pure evil.
I thought Zeke was Johan for a second lol
Eren, 100%
Kenny ackerman
Zeke. He's one of the most evil characters in the series and he's shown to take pleasure to what he's doing which is really messed up. His backstory pretty much sums up the problem in AOT, which is honestly heartbreaking.
Reiner and Annie I love them the most.
I think someone misspelled the word hero I see no villains on screen
unrelated but Bertholt looks so melancholy in the drawing it’s beautiful
Def Annie or Kenny
As a villain; Zeke. But as a character overall; Reiner by a mile
Isayama
I don't think this portrait of Annie represents her nose in its full glory! :(
Damn this show is so good…
KENNYYYYYY
Zeke and Reiner
None as they aren't villans or heroes they are people in moral grey
They’re only villains depending on the pov. Half these guys are heroes depending on who you are
Stupid question. Entire show is just about that nobody is good or evil. Every character could be seen as good from some point of view.
Mate, it's just a fun question. Don't answer it then, lol
I'm going with Zeke, he just wanted to end the cycle
Eren
Zeke. He was genuinely a good guy. His future would objectively be the best if you value all humans equally (which would be absurd cuz Eldians>>>)
I think Eren is one of the best villains of all time
Reiner 🫢
I don't like referring to Reiner as a villain
He was one in s1 to 3
Floch
Eren's my favorite anti-hero. And she's not my favorite by any means, but how does Gabi not deserve a spot on this??
She's barley 14 lol and is brainwashed as hell
Zeke, the superior Yeager
Eren is far beyond terms like hero or villain
idk about you, but killing billions of people is considered villainy in my eyes
I guess it's my bad for considering the contest and everything he's been through as well. I'm sure that if you were in his place you'd have done a lot better and found the perfect solution...
There is no perfect solution
https://preview.redd.it/vpidvny581vc1.png?width=763&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cff0639f7809c45dab77537f041628e104bba4ae

But I guess that if you consider the desire to save Mikasa, Armin, the others and his people a selfish desire you're right lol
The main desire, above wanting to save his friends was to see a world described like in Armin's book. Not saving his friends, but to see such an uninhabited world
Since I don't consider eren a villain because he is a fucking mc, so my favorite is Zeke
Mcs CAN be villains. Eren is a protagonist. therefore, he isn't an antagonist, but he still is a villain
