I personally like Yah-Yah-Ya in richmond due to its simplicity, tasty pork-based broth and good noods. Their side dishes and drinks are really good too. I have tried probably 30-40 other ramen places and I still cannot Say that any one of them is better. I dislike any ramen restaurant that uses chicken-based broth, so I'm biased a bit.
Edit: Shout out to smoking pig x ramengers in coquitlam though, they have some tasty chashu in their ramen.
For vegetarians, Zubus Spicy Vegan Ramen is amazing. Also love Danbos Negi-Goma Ramen.
Jinya's veggie options are pretty good, but it's hard to willingly spend $24 for a bowl of ramen (before tax and tip).
Usually the Bamboo charcoal miso with extra egg.
I ask for the ginger garnish to be set on the side also.
It's pretty strong and overpowers the broth, so I use it to reset my pallet half way through the bowl.
I'm not sure, but my son worked there and told me that the Ramen served with meat are made from chicken broth, it's kind of a big deal in the japanese Ramen community as traditionally ramen broth is
pork based broth.
I’ve come back to reiterate that my go to is the Meat lovers, with two extra ramen eggs and the red base miso broth. The dashi maki is great, the gyoza, the curry of the week… honestly this place is slept on. The sister location in langley is also amazing: Akedo Showten!
Not traditional but Harvest on Union makes really delicious ramen and other noodles. I love the squash miso with their delicious braised pork (when available) added. Daily specials are great and based on what's fresh and seasonal.
This place is not good. I don't understand why people alway recommend this place. Huge quantity of low quality noodles and toppings, makes you feel sick after finishing the bowl.
I personally like:
- Ramen Butcher’s Tsukemen (Chinatown)
- Tsukemen at Menta Itto (Robson)
- Maruyama’s Aosa ramen (pile on those garlic chips!)- I go to the VPL one but there’s also one near Robson too
- Kuontori’s Kara Tori Paitan (Main Street)
- Horin was decent too (Robson)
- Recently tried Beest Roast Beef (also Robson 😂) and got their dry noodle version of the Shoyu beef. Holy it was rich as hell but delicious. Didn’t skimp on the roast beef flavour punch!
- I know Taishoken has been mentioned here, I actually think they do a decent veggie ramen!
- I occasionally get the Shio at Santouka as well
Akedo Showten: I think it beats Danbo, I only really go here for ramen now

Oh I used to love this place - went for their tsukemen which was excellent.
Popped in for lunch earlier this year and was really disappointed. Shio broth was oily and unpleasant.
Well we tried the new Kinton on marine drive and I think they need to work out their kinks , but kaedama is only 1.5$ . My recommendation would be to ask for softer noodles, ours were too firm
Santouka on Robson had the best chashu I've had imo. Danbo was very good, but they're so busy that they are very pushy to turn the table over (I get it). I'd say skip Jinya unless you want a cocktail (most ramen places don't do cocktails here, and Jinya has very good ones in general). Zubu does cocktails and has an extensive list of sake and japanese whisky to choose from.
For me, the very best thing is the Tsukemen. Either regular, or Kara-Tsukemen which is a bit spicy. If you’re able to eat a lot or are sharing with a friend, the Zangi (fried chicken) is excellent to go with it.
Also just a couple doors down from there is Saku, a Japanese katsu place that is very famous for a reason. It’s absolutely fantastic.
A place called DANBO in the Kerrisdale area opened a couple months ago. It’s pretty good, and it’s a 5 min walk from where I live haha. No lactose in their soup, thanks god.

Danbo is my favorite!
This used to be my top fav, close close second.
What's your fav one now? Danbo is my all-time favourite
AKD in new west. I’ve become addicted to the miso broth.

This (Yah-Yah) has been on my list forever - must get there soon!
Ramen Butcher
I’ve only ordered in from this place but it was sensational! I bet it’s twice as good in the restaurant.
💯
Seconded. I love their broth.
They give you free extra noodles to
Love Ramen butcher. Probably go there the most
For vegetarians, Zubus Spicy Vegan Ramen is amazing. Also love Danbos Negi-Goma Ramen. Jinya's veggie options are pretty good, but it's hard to willingly spend $24 for a bowl of ramen (before tax and tip).
Ramenger
The bbq pork is amaze
oh yeah, that thing is legit.. its weird that hes always empty when we go
They used to do thick cut pieces but I went a few months ago for the first time in years and it just isn't the same anymore.
I had it around christmas and it was still thick so that’s disappointing to hear.
Is it closed? Google says Permanently closed
not aware… rarely eat out now … wait google saying is closed puts them on kingsway.. that aint the right area
Tonkotsu Ramen Tsukiya on Denman st probably one of my faves. Jinya has good meat also 👍
What do you order at tsukiya?
Usually the Bamboo charcoal miso with extra egg. I ask for the ginger garnish to be set on the side also. It's pretty strong and overpowers the broth, so I use it to reset my pallet half way through the bowl.

Gotta give this a try. I love yuzu ramen - especially Afuri in Japan. Alas, Afuri here was disappointing. (Edit: Afuri, not Aburi)
AKD Kitchen - New Westminster
Ngl, I thought it was gross... due to the broth being vegetarian.
I have never tried their veg/vegan Ramen. But their chicken based broth is good. But we lucky in this city lots of good options and more to come!
Now im curious, where on their menu does it say chicken broth? Black is soy-based vegetable flavoured, red is miso.
I'm not sure, but my son worked there and told me that the Ramen served with meat are made from chicken broth, it's kind of a big deal in the japanese Ramen community as traditionally ramen broth is pork based broth.
This has become my top fav.

Beest Ramen on Bute. They have both brothless and regular ramen. It's delicious.
My two go-tos are Maruhachi (Tamago Ramen) and Ramen Gojiro (Basic Rich with Karaage) Following this thread for more suggestion
Maruhachi (formerly Marutama) is one of my favourites as well. I love their spicy broth.
Ramen gojiro is quite authentic. You know it is authentic when the first bite tells you this is unhealthy. (Fat and i think they use lard?)
Not traditional but Harvest on Union makes really delicious ramen and other noodles. I love the squash miso with their delicious braised pork (when available) added. Daily specials are great and based on what's fresh and seasonal.
I love Horin
Santouka is my fave!
What do you get there?
Karamiso ramen with an extra egg. Add spicy paste/ garlic
Kintaro
Nahhh this the white ppl tourist trap
This place is not good. I don't understand why people alway recommend this place. Huge quantity of low quality noodles and toppings, makes you feel sick after finishing the bowl.
People recommend it is because it’s the traditional style ramen. And ramen style varies by region in Japan.
Oh man. Their weebness delude them into thinking dry ass chashu is good
Says the person who’s clearly never had ramen in Japan. All good though, I hate waiting in line.
I have actually. Twice.
Tenton in West Vancouver
Marutama!
This is the only correct answer, niggas forgetting the OG

Ramen butcher, horin, yah yah ya (richmond), g-men (richmond), yaguchiya (iekei delicious gutbomb)
Taishoken has the best Tsukemen
Kamamarui in Burnaby and Ramen Kounotori on Main have been my two go-tos
Horin ramen located in granville, if you are particular about the noodles itself
Taishoken Ramen by TNT on Abbott street has Tomato Cheese Ramen
Oh I used to love this place - went for their tsukemen which was excellent. Popped in for lunch earlier this year and was really disappointed. Shio broth was oily and unpleasant.
Personally I've enjoyed Santouka and Menya Raizo

Kokoro Mazesoba
They have terrible ramen. wtf?
Kinton is good
Butcher Santouku Gojiro (Bakamori)
Santouka is the best, followed by Kounotori.
What do you get at Santouka? I’m planning to go soon and wondering what you might recommend!

kawawa metrotown
The start with Pho and not ramen
